I have looked everywhere before this post so my apologies if this is an incorrect posting, my ATT captivate glide camera says RECORDING FAILED nearly every time i open the camera app, i have tried clearing cache through multiple apps and through the recovery boot, and multiple camera apps like pudding camera, i've uninstalled every app i can think of that may interfere with the camera as well, i have also rooted my device hoping this would help, a reset will not help, a reflash of the rooted rom will not help either, i am open to try anything suggested as i trust the developers in this forum, i posted this as a new thread to see if anyone else has the same problem, thank you for your time and effort, it means a lot to us that are learning
Never seen that and I use the camera pretty regularly. Bum device maybe?
Never had this problem as well, I think you might have got a defective unit.
if you use your external SD card as storage, better check that one. If you use internal SD, you can check if you have a DCIM folder in it, try creating it manually if you do not see any.
i tried the dcim folder idea, now have a folder in usb storage, sd, and external sd, no luck but thank you
I found a thread with a promising solution, i deleted my camera.apk with titanium backup and got a camera mod here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104051 , it's working now, i hope it continues to, i will post an update later if anyone else is having this problem, thanks to all involved

Need firmware
i checked my firmware using *#34971539# and it displayed null.... i need someone to upload the actual firmware please, or at least tell me what version they have.... thanks
Firmware
OK, here's where I'm at now... someone was kind enough to upload me the firmware, i install it and reboot my device and it works for about 5 minutes then fails again, i honestly think something is running in my device that is interfering with the camera.... if anyone has any ideas they would be appreciated...
I'm gonna try this again, camera still only working intermittently (about 10%).... in the service menu my cam firmware is null, a phone to cam fw write just reboots my device, i put the rs_m5ls.bin in the root of my SD card before write, not sure if i am doing this correctly, if i do a cam to phone fw dump i get a m5mo_dump.bin in the root of my SD card as well, I've formatted cache, data, system and reinstalled ICS ROM by jayjayjoker, I've flashed the stock GB firmware from samfirmware via Odin, and tried the firmware write every way i could think of each time... can anyone please explain how the firmware works with the ROM and driver, maybe i will understand it better or even detailed steps on the correct installation of firmware, I'm sure I'm missing something and the only info i can find is all spread out and not necessarily clear when i do find it, if any of you devs have any ideas please help.... thanks for your time, this is very frustrating
Hi can anybody assist me please I am trying to install the new camera all onto my Samsung glide, I have read that I use Root Explorer go to system/app and rename camera.apk and install the new file in its place.
But my problem is root explorer says that the system file is read only and cannot be renamed how do I get round this rather than using the Odin for my computer.
My issue with the camera is when in landscape it works perfect but when I switched to portraits the screen goes blank.
Many thanks.

I googled your problem. It looks like LG is rather dickish about debloating.
You might have to wait until some brick fix via ODIN is out

Maybe its possible for you to re-install the .apk's using push from adb...
download & install latest usb driver
download & insatall LG Mobile Support Tool
remove the battery from the phone
while pressing volume down button connect the usb cable and wait (about 10 seconds) in this mobe until SW upgarde is displayed on the phone
insert the battery back
perform a SW update via LG Mobile Support Tool
I don't have the optimus G but this helped me with other lg phone ; maybe will help you also

Yeah, I uninstalled them. I also tried the LG Mobile Support Tool, all a no go. Sucks, I really like the phone, more so than my Galaxy S3. Just have to be patient and hope a someone finds a solution.

Go to AT&T and replace it lol still got 14 days
Can you access adb?
Couldn't access adb either after this happened, could before. I did solve the problem although I feel a little guilty how I did it since I know it is totally my fault. I returned it, said I was using the LG update software on my desktop and said it got half through the update and our power went out and it wouldn't boot after that. If the earlier post hadn't reminded me that AT&T no longer has a 30 return I would have waited it out in hopes of a solution, but I'm going on a business trip and won't be back before the 14 days are up. Thanks for all the help and ideas, this time I'll just remove the AT&T crap and not any Google stuff.

if it was me I'd unscrew the back and take it out as long as it is not marked by a sticker or something it shouldn't void the warranty
read thoroughly " I WOULD DO IT" it's not a suggestion for anyone to do it, I'm just saying what's on my mind
I can verify that freezing, with TB, certain DRM-related apps will cause this problem too.
Sprint doesn't have the images from LG required to restore the device yet, and the guy at the store tried to take it apart to get the battery out so now all the glue is unstuck from the back glass and it's squeaky. I'm waiting on a replacement from them now. :-|

From what I saw of the Sprint guy's efforts they filled the thing with glue. I guess that's why it feels so solid

hey, guys. I'm new to android. I bought a HTC one M8 used (not totally, it's a phone of a HTC developer I think) yesterday. But it's firmware or android is weird. First I thought it's a clone but it's real. All HTC features are present. But another weird thing was when I updated a new build, a girl named Jennifer showed up like first time on my card & a bunch of contacts saved. In details I found out all of them are HTC developers. So, I think it's a real HTC one M8. It has a demo app which stay open when display sleeps, prevent it from sleeping. Also many settings are locked. Like power saving quick settings, Airplane mode. Also it's in full brightness & both quick setting + main setting is locked. I can see & trap it but don't work. Most of the settings are locked including developer options. It's white & tapping on/off doesn't work. The retailer shop keeper said flashing a new firmware will solve it. But their shop is really far away & I've no ideas on android firmware flashing. I know about Symbian flashing though but that's no use. Please somebody help me. I need a procedure for flashing & link of M8's firmware. My phone is Europe version. & also it'd be nice if you can tell me how can I see or edit my external memory card. Please help. Thanks in advance

You can factory reset from bootloader or from stock recovery.
To get to bootloader, press and hold power + volume up. Eventually the phone will shut off and the screen will go black. Let go of power and volume up. Press and hold volume down until the bootloader comes up.

first update its firmware via ota. then flash a custom recovery and a custom rom like skydragon. U r good to go. forget the stock because whenever u will return to stock rom. u will get the demo app again.
Hi. I am encountering problems after installing this CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.4
I admit, I am a noob regarding this.
Going back, the phone can access The CWM-based recovery by pressing the power button and volume up, can use menus, advanced menu,
I wiped the partition and cleared cache and dalvik cache but when you restart, screen stops at LG logo and (Secure booting error, Cause: boot certification verify) text is displayed.
I know I was unsure of everything and flashing androids are new to me especially on my device.
can I unlock the bootloader even with the CWM-based recovery alone?
Model name: F240S
android version. 4.4.2
I'm having a similar problem. I have CWM from Freegee on my phone.
Last night, when I was unable to flash either or two different roms, I decided to check for an OTA update. The phone downloaded it, and when it was finished, it went into looping into recovery. I then decided to factory reset, wipe data.. still phone goes back to recovery. Then I decided to just use the backup I had made earlier in CWM. Still stuck in recovery loop.
Anyone? Anyone?

I just did some more searching. I'm coming up with stuff like "install the lg flash tool" , "and if that doesn't work, install (If you cannot run LGFlashTool2014.exe, please install Visual C++ Runtime Library) - VC_RedistInstaller.exe - 47.7 Mb"
HOLY PHUCKING HELL! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO? Go get a phucking degree from MIT to just to use my phucking fone???
Seriously. Someone on this site needs to learn how to teach. I know that there are men here with IQs in the upper range of 140 plus.. but they can't teach. sad sad sad.
I've been going at this for so long now. My computer is littered with downloaded files. And then the phone I had before this it was like, hmmm, I'll flash a cyanogenmod rom because they under stand the common man. WRONG. Their mods suck battery life more than stock roms. Okay, I'll flash Carbon rom... not any better, devs have purposely darkened the screen to make it look like battery life is better.. I tried rom after rom after rom. They all have problems. NOt just minor problems either.

I have an e980 and this method had been flawless multiple times. As far as battery life, that all depends on 100 different things, but I always flash madmack's modem, then wipe cache and dalvik. Deep sleep is pretty much guaranteed after that.

Your dramatized posts between threads show you are having a hard time. A person does not need a degree to flash, just the patience to read a lot on a forum like xda regarding their phone and android in general.
People only notice something like battery life on a given rom due to the presence of other options they can compare it to. Apple, for example, is just one thing. One ios iteration having a better something over the other is irrelevant as there is nothing to apply degrees of comparison to. Then, hardware variety, etc.
Some of the points you are upset about in the process of flashing could be resolved by a google search or xda forum search.

Well I finally got it working.
What one has to do to get roms flashed is to use madmacks's term. And when you're on recovery mode, you must toggle Loki support to disabled or the install of the new Rom will abort.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.

For the record, I did search. And search. And search.
The problem here at xda is that many of the developers are so smart that they are unable to articulate down to us regular people.

Should I move this question to another post?
I have another problem. my phone just got no signal and says "Service disabled". on the notification bar it just loads and says "Searching for networks". it never found any networks. I switched the same SIM to another phone and it has a signal. the problem happened after I edited the build.prop and changed the ro.build.local from "KR" to "US" just to remove the dual clock from the lockscreen (because F240 has a dual clock which is non-removable except if you use the sqlite editor but that method did not work for me. the editor closes and says "*programname* has closed unexpectedly").
I made a factory reset and still there is no signal. I'm using stock kitkat firmware from LG and not rooted. can you help me with this one?
Thanks
Have you checked your apn settings?
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.
No, I don't have APNs listed.
but, I was able to install sphinx rom and now the phone always says "unfortunately, com.android.keyguard has stopped" and the phone app was gone, APN settings also gone, call logs gone,
For a short while, I didn't think I had apn's listed but I was not looking in the right place.

Probably no baseband or null baseband, my suggestion, flash stock through flashtool, if you have free gees made an efs folder you can always restore that too, but i think flashing stock would solve the baseband problem, if that doesnt, there is an online flashing method, that can help

I don't know about the flash stock through flashtool. I use mobile support tool which I did last night and it was a success. "com.android.phone has closed unexpectedly" or something like that does not appear now on SETTINGS>Tethering & Networks>Mobile Networks OR T Roaming>Select roaming network. because before I'm encountering if I go there.
one last thing is that everything is now stock but still I don't get the signal. unlike before. the signal goes back automatically.
about basebands, I do have a baseband. same as before and I still have my IMEI intact.
That is strange, there is a thread of hyelton, in general section, get the lg flash tool from there, and try to flash the appropriate tot file, if you flash the tot or kdz file for other model, this might result in loss of network

Kidsrom Galaxy Tab 3
Installed the Kidsrom on a T210R successfully. However, when the tablet is off and connected to the charger the battery icon is frozen and I have to hold the power bottom for a long time before the tablet reboots.
How can this issue be solved? Did I so something wrong?
Thank you!

This means that you have the KitKat bootloader but you are using a Jellybean rom.
Look in the Development section and you will find a kernel specifically made for your situation.

You could send me a logcat and I'll take a look. Probably won't find anything though since it works normally later. It may simply be a timing issue where the Kids Mode apps are trying to start before one of the required dependencies has loaded. Not much I can do about that.

It looks like it is trying to load to early in the boot process. No idea why that is happening. Sorry.

No problem, I am thinking that this is as a result of installing the kernel to fix the offline battery issue.
I appreciate your support!

I flashed back to this rom to test and I have no issues. I recommend re-doing your install with a full wipe and install new kernel immediately after rom (during same recovery session).
(As a side note, my kids saw me testing this rom and now they have confiscated my tab.)

Tried to flash it again in the order that you suggested but I still have the same timing issue. This only happens when Kids Mode is left running and the tablet is turned back on.
PS. I know my kids are going to be static over the "new" tablet!!

Samsung - Tab 3 Kids - No Background Music (sm-t2105)
Hi,
please, could you advice me how to disable the background Music in the Kids mode at the Samsung Tab 3 Kids tablet ?
I found a link androidfilehost_com/?fid=23269279319199251
where is possible to download file "KidzRom.NoBackgroundMusic.zip".
But to be honest I do not know how to proceede further with this file. How can I apply it to the tablet ?
Or is there any other way how to disable the background music in the kids mode ?
Thank you in advance for your help to disable the music !

The zip file should be flashed through custom recovery. It is designed to be used on my kids rom because it is a deodexed app. In the apk, there is a res/raw folder that contains the sound for the app. The bgm.mp3 file is the background music. If you delete it, the app will force close. I recreated the mp3 file to be a silent file so you don't hear the music.

Hi, thanks a lot for your help !
Sorry for my late reply as I was on my vacation.
Finally I am back and I tried to root my Samsung - Tab 3 Kids - (sm-t2105) as described in this video:
youtube_com/watch?v=BDShwBHRjUE&feature=youtu.be
The rooting I've done succesfully - so now is also in the rootchecker confirmed that the Tablet is rooted.
(in the TWRP (teamwin) "T210.TWRP.2.8.2.0.tar.md5" I used "android-armeabi-universal-root-signed.zip" file)
As I mentioned up to this everything was OK, rooting done succesfully and the tablet seemed to work fine.
After that I tried to install the "KidzRom.NoBackgroundMusic.zip" file the same way as I installed the rooting file - in the TWRP under the install button.
After that I did the reboot of the system which updated the system...
And huray when I switched to kids mode the music was silent Great. Thank you for that !!!
But than I found out that after installation of this "KidzRom.NoBackgroundMusic.zip" file it is not possible to turn on the wifi .
So I restored the system from the backup (luckilly I did the back up during the rooting) and tried that again step by step several times. I also tried to install only the "KidzRom.NoBackgroundMusic.zip" file without the rooting of the tablet and always I got the same result - after the installation of the "KidzRom.NoBackgroundMusic.zip"´file the wifi is off and it is not possible to turn it on.
PLEASE, could you advice me how to solve it ?
Thank you in advance for your help and effort !!!
Jan

Meanwhile I tried to find the answer on the web and based on that I downloaded to the Tablet application aLogcat.
Than I installed the file "KidzRom.NoBackgroundMusic.zip" => backgroudn music is silent but wifi is not working and now I found out that not just wifi, but also bluetooth is not possible to turn on.
I tried to move a bit in the tablet and tried several times so turn on and off the wifi and bluetooth.
Hope this will be somehow possible to see in the Logcat which I attach.
Thank you in advance for your help and patience with me as I am the Android user beginner.

That logcat is incomplete as it contains nothing pertaining to wifi.
Have you tried a factory reset?

T210R/T2105 Differences
This may or may not be a dumb question but.....What is the difference? Besides the way they look. Can the files from T210R work on my rooted SM-T2105 (kids) Cause I don't really see many rooted files and roms for the T2105, but a lot more on the T210R. Thank You
Excellent ROM
I'm not allowed to post on Kidz Rom ROM thread, so I will say it here: I bought used T210 only to install this rom for my kids - and I must say it's fabulous. Kids love it. Good work.
Thank you.
