GPE'd M8: First issue was Encrypted Partition, now no camera? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I received an HTC One M8 from a buddy of mine who said that after installing CM11 (which turned out to be GPE) he had the encrypted partition error. I got that all sorted out and now I can boot into any rom I want, however there is no rear facing camera. App launches, and just quits out after it can't start the camera (hardware?). The app launches and you see all the icons, if you're fast enough, you can switch it to "selfie" mode...and that works fine. Does anyone have any ideas? Need more info?

Could you upload a logcat when you open the camera app?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app

Here is the output displaying ONLY the errors from the time I hit the camera app.
http://pastebin.com/XDhVYrsT

I take it happens on every rom you flashed? And did you flash a custom kernel?

Yep, no matter the ROM, and negative on the kernel. Just which ever kernel that comes with the ROM I install.

Anyone else have any ideas?

If you have sent it to HTC Service and they have not sorted this issue, then I'm afraid there's not much we can do.
Why did they send it back with Audio issue?

You could test with a few firmware.zips, but they are not gonna help if this is a hardware issue.
That is why HTC service is best.
Good luck friend....I am not experienced enough to know how to help you now XD Sorry.

Actually I plan to upgrade firmware that I downloaded, and the only way to update is S-OFF.
since all the normal upgrade are not working. (bad signature, error 99 on fastboot etc...)
Try firewater but did not work anymore, then just try for Sunshine - S-Off.
After finish all S-Off by , ...at the first reboot sound come out and all function are there, (call, video, recording etc)
Thank you XDA forum
Guys I'm having the same issue. I noticed it after I mistakenly flashed a nougat rom by mistake. I later went back to the marshmallow rom I was looking for but the issue is still there. I can't play audio with my htc m8. Or record videos with the camera. Any help would be appreciated

How do I update to Marshmallow on a rooted Bell HTC One M8?

I realize this is probably asked fairly often, but I did try to find the answer myself. So I thank you and apologize in advance.
In any case, I've been using lollipop for some time on my M8 now. It is rooted and S-On. As a result, I can't simply OTA up into Marshmallow. I bought this phone used, and I believe it was Bell, but I'm uncertain. I was hoping to update to Marshmallow (and keeping my files intact if that is at all possible), but am totally at a loss as to what I should be doing. For one, not a whole lot of threads about Bell, so I'm unsure what files I should be using, but beyond that if someone could give me a nudge in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it.
To get things started, my fastboot getvar all is:
Code:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>fastboot getvar all
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 3.19.0.0000

You can unroot it within supersu app itself.
Then restore system & boot only from non-rooted 4.20.666.1 backup and keep your data, install 4.20.666.1 stock recovery.img. You'll receive OTA up to Marshmallow with your data intact.
You can have all those in my thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
Thank you, everything worked out perfect, though it took a little longer than I thought it would. One issue though, it seems maybe the radio is weaker? I can't get to LTE most of the time in places I had no trouble with before.
For anyone going through the same thing, if Sense is crashing after your update, just go into settings, apps and clear out the data for Sense.
No idea about the radio matter .. maybe an updated fastboot getvar all can tell something if not correctly done.

It's definitely having some trouble getting up to LTE, but it does connect to LTE once in a blue moon so its not the APN or something stupid like that.

It's on stock Sense?
I'd suggest unlocking the bootloader, flashing TWRP, and then flashing a custom ROM. It's tedious but it's probably the best bet.

Didn't think about that. Never mind.
I have no idea. :/
I'm assuming the pics are on internal storage, and not the removable SD? Probably an obvious/stupid question, but it never hurts to confirm (on the off chance you or your friend didn't think of it). If on removable SD, it would be an easy matter to remove the card, insert in card reader and retrieve the pics.
Otherwise, I don't know of a way to extract the photos from internal storage in the current condition (can't boot into OS, no custom recovery).
Any chance your friend opted into any backup apps (pre-installed apps or otherwise), such as HTC Backup, Google Photos, Dropbox, etc.? Maybe not all the photos will be on the cloud, and not full resolution. But better than nothing.
If not, I can never understand why folks don't take the time to backup data that is important to them. Waiting for disaster to strike, then searching for a recovery plan, is often too little, too late.

HTC Desire 816 restore to stock rom help needed [A5_UL] [HTC_044]

Hello there XDA forum mates, I need your help in getting my phone back to stock ROM
I spent 3 days trying to figure out how to get it back before approaching XDA desperately.
So far, I tried flashing the following files
0P9CIMG_A5_UL_K44_DESIRE_SENSE60_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.54.707.2_Radio_1.101.1102.17.0506_10.20.4149.00L_release_391925_combined_signed

0P9CIMG_A5_UL_L50_DESIRE_SENSE60_MR_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.34.707.1_Radio_1.101.111011.20.0123_10.28.4149A.00L_release_426982_signed_Hboot
A5_UL_K44_DESIRE_SENSE60_ASIA_WWE_1.22.707.1_ASIA_a5ul_cwm_backup_rooted_2014-07-14
0P9CIMG_A5_UL_L50_DESIRE_SENSE60_MR_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.34.707.2_Radio_1.101.111011.20.0123_10.28.4149A.00L_release_447806_signed
But all of it either failed or had no effect.
For instance, some of the zips above cannot be successfully flashed due to reasons such as
"Devices Halted due to Large Image update fail" while using hboot
"0P9XXXX cannot be loaded" while using fastboot
For 0P9CIMG_A5_UL_L50_DESIRE_SENSE60_MR_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.34.707.1_Radio_1.101.111011.20.0123_10.28.4149A.00L_release_426982_signed_Hboot, it actually succeeded but then I'm not sure why, when i reboot the phone, the HTC boot logo appear for a while and then disappear. After that, nothing else happens, the screen just stays black.
Here is my fastboot getvar all output
