APPS missing from playstore - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I notices some APPS I usually use are missing from playstore. Is there a fix? Thanks.

Sideload it.

You can often download the .apk directly from the author's website. It doesn't appear in the market because your tablet's resolution is not supported. It will still work most likely, just not optimally as the author wishes.

Updated Market

Has the New Market just been updated or have i been living under a rock?
The GUI seems improved, and i no longer seem to get any lag etc
Guessing this is to coincide with ICS perhaps somehow?!
Flake x
I just had an update for the market to 3.1.5. It's a nicer interface and seemed a bit snappier, but that may be my imagination. ICS is 3.2.0 I believe.
This Version I have is 3.3.11
Yep.. Same here.. 3.3.11

It has looked like this for awhile now. Only minor improvements were made with 3.3.11.

Interesting. Do you have a source?
What! It detects pirated apps.? Then what? What does it do then after detecting?
On Nov. 08 2011, the android market got updated .............and hence the world came to an end.
Its true about the pirated apps, the my apps screen will become blank and you cannot update your apps anymore. The online market still works though and even gives you the option to reinstall pitated apps - which does not work.

simple answer to that is don't pirate apps!!!!!
It appears that the problem on the galaxy s where some of the app images would not show when previewing is now fixed.
Could be following the update.

How Google will make a difference for paid market apps and paid non-market apps then? If i download some legit apps from for example GetJar/amazon app store/etc, Google doesn't have record for me buying this app..but still it appears in my apps list (IIRC this happens, but not 100% sure..). So if Google isn't analyzing apk file itself, its hard to believe it could work correctly..
And I also haven't seen any comments like these in other Market threads..
Removing my three unpaid apps, blackmart and clearing the data part of market solved the issue. I removed the data before, that did not help, now it did. It's strange...

Well I have also had blank white screens..just today when I tried to updater one app..came after accepting download. But it worked just fine after trying again.. And IIRC I also have had one in 'my apps' also. I'm not saying it can't be true but I need more proofs..little sceptic...

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. There's clearly nothing to support these claims.

[Q] Google Korean Keyboard IME compatible or not?

I wish to install "Google Korean Keyboard IME" on the Samsung Galaxy Y.
But it is not showing in the MarketPlace. Searching on the PC Marketplace tells me that this app is not compatible. I see no reason why, unless this is due to screen resolution.
Can anyone check this out? Is the Marketplace in error saying that it is incompatible, in which case, can it be sideloaded? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
I also have a Samsung Galaxy Nexus , and installed the Google Korean IME keyboard app with no problem for that device, as the app was happily listed in the marketplace.
But on the Samsung Galaxy Y, the Google Play (marketplace) does not list the Google Korean IME keyboard app, so I can't install it as I don't know any other method of installing an application other than the marketplace.
Get the apk from your Nexus, pass it to your SGY and install. If you don't know how to get apk's manually you can download the apkExtractor app in the market. Alternatively, you can just google for an apk, download and install.

Thanks, that was a great and very helpful explanation, which I was able to follow.
Using this method I successfully installed the keyboard on the Samsung Galaxy Y, but unfortunately it didn't allow me to use it, so I give up. The technique was very useful to know though.
You're welcome. There are a lot of apps in the market that say they are incompatible but some of them actually work pretty well with this phone, so you have to get them from other sources and try for yourself. XD

Has anyone gotten pushed the new market?

Has anyone actually gotten pushed the new market on an Ics build. I an not talking about the playstore update, I am talking about the update after that added tabs. I know the APK is out there, but I don't feel comfortable downloading random apks from media fire that have access to my credit card.

I have not but my wife did on her stock phone.
Easiest way:
Just delete the data from your Market app in Settings, and the next time you open your Market app normally, it'll update itself, straight from Google's servers.

It updates to the play market but not the tabbed play market. I suspect it is because I am on ics.

TB just issued an update to support it but they also left a note:
What's in this version:
• Supports Google Play Store 3.5.15. Please note: Play Store is capricious with Market links because it relies more on Google's servers. If you want more control we encourage you to ask Google. It's their app. Let them know the goal you want to achieve. Once they provide a way, we'll give you full control of it!
• Improved app backup code: supports APK files with non-standard names.
• [PRO] Added "Disable Market app Auto Updater".
• Speed optimization & minor GUI tweaks.
• Updated translations.

[Q] are apk files safe?

I've been watching some videos on YouTube to learn how to mod my fire and some of them suggest downloading apk files that are not available on the google market from 4share. Are these apk files safe?
Usually they are but sometimes they can contain viruses and other crap. One thing I do is check what the file size is in the Play store and then check what it is the app you're downloading.
I would just stick with trusted sources though. I don't recommend downloading from other sites.
It depends how dependable the sources are. Try sticking to trusted sites and stores. Try reading other's comments if available.
We can't criticize "apks" as a whole whether its a safe practice or not. It depends on individual apk file. So always check the permissions required while installing the app.
If you notice anything that looks suspicious, it is a nice idea not to install them.
Although far from perfect, keeping antivirus/anti-spyware application may help as they have database of known malicious apps
Nothing is safe.
APK's are as safe as downloading an exe from a third party source on a computer. ITS A SAFE AS THE SITE YOU GET IT FROM. Sketchy site=probs not safe, normal site=probs alright. I havent had a sibgle problem with apks yet, and ive used at least a hundred by now. Generally, they are safe.

Would you consider 4share a safe site?

No.
An APK is the Android equivalent to a .DEB or .RPM for Linux, or a .MSI for Windows. It's an installer package, and it by definition contains executable code. When you open an APK, you're in effect putting your device in the hands of the person that made that APK. Ask yourself, "would it be a good idea to run an MSI or EXE from site XYZ?" The answer is the same for APKs.
Is apktops safe

Apktops is safe but they want you to try out the software before you buy. Keeping the software for more than (24 hrs?) is illegal.

Which sites are trustable?
all then thats needed to know is if there are any sites that can be trusted with the apk files?
if you any please do respond.
APK files are safe if you are downloading from reliable and safe sources. Now there are many well reputed apk sites.
You can use any source to download the apps (apk) but after downloading scan the downloaded apk through VirusTotal to make sure that apk is safe and secure.

[Q] List play installed and side loaded app

Is there any way to generate a list of apps installed from the market and sideloaded apps?
Preferably a list that can be copied to a text file.
Thanks....

Thank you. But that only lists all the apps, not which are side loaded. Do you know of any way to do that?
I don't believe there is a way to tell if an app is side loaded unless you specifically remember or check the market for ones that don't receive updates.

How does Play Market know that the app has been side loaded? Can we use the same technique to determine an apps "sideloadedness" ourselves?
Thanks in advance...
It may not help, but Titanium Backup has a Market Link feature where I think you can create/restore or disable a market link for apps. I've never used this feature so im not real sure its what youre looking for, but maybe you can find a way to filter based on this?

Unfortunately Titanium Backup does not differentiate between the two or give you a way to filter on side loaded app.

A "sideloaded" app is an app that has been installed on the phone without it being downloaded with Android Play/Market. Most file explorers will do this.
The latest versions of Android Play/Market will not update an app that has been sideloaded. It only allows you to open or uninstall the them. While this makes sense for paid apps (they might be pirated) it does not make sense for free apps (such as apps purchased on Amazon or download from XDA).
I sideload many apps (some apps from XDA) and I am trying to make a text list of all of my installed apps and then denote which of the apps were loaded through Google Play/Market and which were sideloaded. Any free Android Play/Market available apps that I find that I have sideloaded I will uninstall and re-install using Android Play/Market so they will update appropriately.
That is why I am trying to do this.

I believe they are signed differently. A sideloaded app will NOT receive updates from the Play Store.

TB will show you which apps have market links, don't see a way to export it but if you email the whole list you could print it and cross them off or just load them into a spreadsheet... Not as quick but should be <10 mins.

Unfortunately I have used Titanium Backup Market Doctor to link everything to the Market so I dont' think that will work. If there is a way to get that information from Titanium Backup, please let me know how.
Thanks...
Market tools, market auto updates only shows me market apps and I've done the link repair thing too...
JKKKK no I didn't. I thought I had but I never ran it, whoops.
I fixed the links and ran autoupdater after selecting all, only market loaded apps showed up man so.....
