Is there any way to generate a list of apps installed from the market and sideloaded apps?
Preferably a list that can be copied to a text file.
Thanks....

Thank you. But that only lists all the apps, not which are side loaded. Do you know of any way to do that?
I don't believe there is a way to tell if an app is side loaded unless you specifically remember or check the market for ones that don't receive updates.

How does Play Market know that the app has been side loaded? Can we use the same technique to determine an apps "sideloadedness" ourselves?
Thanks in advance...
It may not help, but Titanium Backup has a Market Link feature where I think you can create/restore or disable a market link for apps. I've never used this feature so im not real sure its what youre looking for, but maybe you can find a way to filter based on this?

Unfortunately Titanium Backup does not differentiate between the two or give you a way to filter on side loaded app.
Thanks...

A "sideloaded" app is an app that has been installed on the phone without it being downloaded with Android Play/Market. Most file explorers will do this.
The latest versions of Android Play/Market will not update an app that has been sideloaded. It only allows you to open or uninstall the them. While this makes sense for paid apps (they might be pirated) it does not make sense for free apps (such as apps purchased on Amazon or download from XDA).
I sideload many apps (some apps from XDA) and I am trying to make a text list of all of my installed apps and then denote which of the apps were loaded through Google Play/Market and which were sideloaded. Any free Android Play/Market available apps that I find that I have sideloaded I will uninstall and re-install using Android Play/Market so they will update appropriately.
That is why I am trying to do this.

I believe they are signed differently. A sideloaded app will NOT receive updates from the Play Store.

TB will show you which apps have market links, don't see a way to export it but if you email the whole list you could print it and cross them off or just load them into a spreadsheet... Not as quick but should be <10 mins.

With this in mind does anybody make an app that will list all of the install apps and whether they are side loaded or not?

Unfortunately I have used Titanium Backup Market Doctor to link everything to the Market so I dont' think that will work. If there is a way to get that information from Titanium Backup, please let me know how.
Thanks...
Market tools, market auto updates only shows me market apps and I've done the link repair thing too...
JKKKK no I didn't. I thought I had but I never ran it, whoops.
I fixed the links and ran autoupdater after selecting all, only market loaded apps showed up man so.....

So I noticed that when backups are made of applications and then later installed from backup, the phone loses knowledge of the fact that these were market apps... thus, it loses awareness of when updates are available. Does anyone know of an easy way to deal with that?

Use AppBrain App Market to backup/reinstall... it does it straight from the Market so the phone realizes the app has been installed.

Two ways to fix this:
1. In TitaniumBackup, there is a "Market Doctor" function.
2. After a TitaniumBackup restore, go to the market and download any app, it will sync up with the apps you have installed and restore the market links.

When I go under the "My Apps" section in the Market, there's nothing there (see picture).
I've tried clearing the Markets cache and data, downloading/installing a free app, completely removing the Market and reinstalling it, fixing permissions, and using the Market Doctor under Titanium. EDIT: Just tried flashing the new Markets .zip I found, didn't fix it either.
Market version is 3.3.11, the newest one.
Any suggestions/solutions would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like your apps didnt get linked to the market correctly. I belive titanium backup has a feature to fix market links. There are probably other apps out there that do it as well.
Try this.
Go to manage applications and force stop market and clear data if the option is available. Then use a file explorer such as Root Explore and navigate to "/data/data/com.android.vending/shared_prefs/" and delete the file "vending_preferences.xml". Then go to "/data/data/com.android.vending/cache", and delete all files in the folder. Then reopen the market, accept the agreement and then go see if your installed apps show up in my apps.

Exact same issue here, apps do not show up under 'My Apps' in the android market. It really makes it difficult to figure out which apps need updating, as I have to check manually. They do show up as installed in the market, just not listed under 'My Apps' or as linked to my account. I have tried all the market link options in Titanium Backup, as well as clearing the market cache and other info, as well as uninstalling all the market updates. CM7

I just had an update for the market to 3.1.5. It's a nicer interface and seemed a bit snappier, but that may be my imagination. ICS is 3.2.0 I believe.

How Google will make a difference for paid market apps and paid non-market apps then? If i download some legit apps from for example GetJar/amazon app store/etc, Google doesn't have record for me buying this app..but still it appears in my apps list (IIRC this happens, but not 100% sure..). So if Google isn't analyzing apk file itself, its hard to believe it could work correctly..
And I also haven't seen any comments like these in other Market threads..
Removing my three unpaid apps, blackmart and clearing the data part of market solved the issue. I removed the data before, that did not help, now it did. It's strange...

Pretty much sums up my thoughts. There's clearly nothing to support these claims.
It seems that appbrain shut down their fast web install plugin, which I used in order to restore all my apps after a rom change since I didn't want to restore the actual app backups. Does anyone know of any other app that does that? Batch Market Installs apps given a list?

Good Morning.
Since yesterday I've noticed, that an app called "sCloudStarter" was installed automatically into user apps.
I can't uninstall it, and there is also a process running.
I can't find any information about this in the internet.
Is here someone, who knows what this app is or does?
Antivirus does also nothing find when I scan my phone.
It's annoying, when apps are installed automatically without knowledge of the user.
Do you think it's harmless or is it a bad virus app?
I did nothing change in my system before.
I also made a full wipe, and after configuring my device with the new fresh system, this sCloudstarter was installed again.
Please, hopefully someone can help me or can give me an answer about this.
it's a Samsung system app related to S-cloud. This is like Google drive. You ha ave to be root to uninstall it.

I'm rooted, but when I uninstall it, it is back in the next second.
It's not possible to delete it.
But I'm wondering, why it was installed automatically without any message?
That's bad from Samsung.
Do This -
I was frustrated with this annoying problem for hours before I did this - download an uninstaller that can identify an app named "Samsung Account" - followed by a long decimal number. Run it and delete Samsung Account first, then SCloudStarter, and hopefully that will work for you as it did for me.

Like the other post said, you can use an app called Titanium Backup to freeze apps, and delete them. This one should be no exception. Freezing apps would be recommended first, as you can then see how the phone reacts when you disable an app. You can always delete later, but I still would recommend just freezing. Even with a 16 GB device, you won't gain that much space by deleting these apps that who knows if you may need later.
That works

If your phone is rooted, there is an app called TitaniumBackup in the Play Store. TitaniumBackup can freeze apps and the frozen app no longer runs on your phone or shows up in your app drawer. TitaniumBackup is the first app that in my opinion needs to be installed on a rooted phone. It's the best app that I've ever paid for, followed closely by Root Explorer.
It's also a good idea that before deleting an app you should ALWAYS have TitaniumBackup backup the app first. This way if your phone starts to act really weird, you can go into TB and restore the app.
It looks noxious
I had a look at the permissions for this in its App Info area,
...
* Your Personal Information
add or modify calendar events and send emails to guests without owner's knowledge, modify your contacts, read calendar events plus confidential information, read call log, read your contacts, read your Web bookmarks and history, write call log, write web bookmarks and history

OMG! It astually lists "send emails to guests without owner's knowledge" like that's nothing to be alarmed about! In fact, most of what is listed there is setting off alarm bells to me.

There is an app titles Titanium Backup that you can use with root. (highly recomended btw). This lets you uninstall bloatware, freeze apps (basically hides them and keeps them from running but keeps them on the phone), backup apps and data so if you have to reinstall or switch phones you can restore them without having to set them up again. Freezing also lets you stop the app which makes you provision and pay extra to tether your phone so you can activate it without paying extra.
It is a must have app imho for rooted users and I highly recomend the pro version. (you can only freeze with pro)
