[HELP][SOLVED] Having some strange problem with flashing recovery - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know several ways to access recovery: VolUp + Power (also tried VolUp+Home+Power), adb reboot recovery, advanced power menu (APM) from Wanam Xposed tweak.
Just telling that to prevent posts like "Oh, you just have to hold VolUp+Power and that's it".
So here is the problem.
I haven't tried accessing recover before rooting with cf-autoroot, so the first time I've tried was after I've already rooted and flashed SkyHigh 0.5 kernel. Not sure if it's relevant.
So I went to APM > Reboot > Recovery and got "THAT" screen. It's like a download mode, actually it is a download mode, but without confirmation on start, like "VolUp to continue, VolDown to restart", and without all that signs on top of the screen.
Just a green android and sign:
Downloading...
Do not turn off
So if I turn off the device than hold VolDown+Power I'll get into the normal download mode with confirmation. If I hold VolUp+Power I'm getting into this another one download mode.
Moreover, if I flash a recovery, now we have TWRP, after device restarts, it's getting directly into recovery, and I cannot reboot to system, it always getting into recovery. And if I turn off device and hold VolUp+Power, I'm getting into that aforementioned strange download mode.
So the only way to boot into system is to flash a kernel.
For info, for flashing I've tried Odin 1.85 and 3.09.
I even tried to make a tar with boot.img and recovery.img at once, but they flashing in order recovery -> boot, so I'm only getting kernel and the strage download mode in place of recovery.
It looks to me, that recovery gets flashed in place of kernel (boot), but I don't know how is this possible and, more important, how to fix this.

I have the same issue on 3 different T700s, the issue is with the SkyHigh kernel, if you flash the stock kernerl and flash the recovery you wont have any issues, but there seems to be a bug with the skyhigh kernel,
you can download the stock kernel on the skyhigh kernel page, iv tried 3 days to resolve the issue, but out of my hands, something the developer of Skyhigh has to fix.

Hmm...
Didn't I tried to flash stock kernel? Maybe not indeed.
Thanks, that's really helped.
I wonder if UpInTheAir is aware of this issue?

I haven't reported it yet, but the developer did say he was taking a month off development. So hmm... But only fix is stock kernel and custom recovery and all works fine, but soon as I flash skyhigh kernel I get stuck in a download mode bootloop

Prevention Information ERROR

Hi i have the following error :
When i try to click on WI-FI button comes up the following
prevention information
the device has detected an application attempting unppermitted actions and has stopped loading. To protect your device it is recomended you reboot.
I have rooted my phone using the topic here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258633
i had to load the
http://k0nane.info/rom/SGH-M919-UVUAMDB-k0nane.7z
file first cos i was getting an failure when installing the superuser using odin 3.0.7
my recovery is TWRP 2.5.0.0 and i am on wicked v1
Anyone else have this issue?
I had the same issue if you check the build number and the baseband version they are not the same. If you re-odin the MDL build http://k0nane.info/rom/M919UVUAMDL_M919TMBAMDL_TMB.zip again then WIFI should work again. I got it rooted after that by doing the following:
1. Load the OUDHS CWM-Based Recovery 1.0.3.3 for T-Mo GS4, via odin uncheck auto reboot and goto to recovery http://k0nane.info/rom/OUDHS-Recovery-jfltetmo-1.0.3.3.tar
2. Install Chainfire's SuperSU http://www.shabbypenguin.com/Android/Scripts/Nexus-Files/Root/SuperSU-v1.25+.zip then
3 Install [KERNEL] Stock Touchwiz MDB - SetUID Restriction Removed http://d-h.st/GcM
Between installs make sure you wipe the cache and davik cache
then you reboot you should be rooted with the newest update MDL minus the kernel lock
yes its not same the build and the baseband
Is it possible to be done using the twrp?
other recovery was little difficult?
can u send me the links i need please i just don't want to mess around and brick my phone
Thanks a lot

Check my post again, I couldn't get TWRP to work at first but it maybe i did not uncheck the the auto reboot box when I did that. Once the the recovery is loaded via odin you need to pull the battery then do the home-up volume-power to get into the recovery. I notice TWRP was a bit too sensitive and could not scroll down the list of folders to get to the zip files

You need to uncheck the auto reboot box in odin, after the recovery transfer is complete pull the battery and unplug from your computer then do a boot into recover by holding the volume up-home-power button. If not rooted follow the instructions in my post above at the very least you need to load the kernel file

So I did that with all 3 recoveries like 2 or 3 times each, nothing was working I unchecked reboot then would just pull battery after reboot and hold vol up and power to try and get into recovery. Sometimes the litlte blue would appear in the top left corner saying "recovery booting" and would just stay there forever other times that would appear and then the phone would just reboot itself.
Anyway finally found instructions that allowed said to try checking auto reboot and f time reset so did that with a TWRP recovery tar and then it finished and rebooted. I then shut the phone off and held power and vol up to get into recovery and it loaded fine. I was then able to flash the chainfire superuser and kernel you posted. So Thanks a bunch man!

Unbricking phone?

So I was installing modaco switch on my phone and it worked for a bit but then when I rebooted it it wouldn't turn on. I've tried flashing it in odin and nothing happened and it still doesn't work. I was wondering if anyone else had any ideas.
Can you access Odin? If so, I recommend flashing back to stock first.

Are you able to get your device into ODIN/Download mode?
If so, flash the Samsung Stock Firmware as macboy3000 suggested.
To get your device into ODIN mode:
Power down device
Press Power and Vol down buttons and hold
Device should show an image
Press Vol up and you'll be in ODIN mode
Some helpful tips:
Follow the instructions via the red link in my sig.
Be sure to have enough juice in your battery
Have a good usb cord. This is the reason many ODIN flashes fail.
Check your md5 checksum match between the download file and your download prior to flashing the stock Firmware.

No, I don't think it'll boot the stock recovery but I'll try that
If you flash stock and still receive boot loops, try going into recovery and wiping data and cache.
take out your sdcard too just for the hell of it.
I just reread your post, and your device is working fine, it's just that you want to know how to get Modaco Switch to work on your device with stability, because it stops working shortly after it's installed.
I had thought your device stopped working. I don't think ODIN will be your answer, and I don't about Modaco.
Maybe:
See if others have Modaco Switch working with stability, and if so:
try wiping cache & dalvik cache in Recovery, or try wiping first.

Ah, so I did read it right the first time. I saw the title the 1st time but I didn't see it the 2nd time, which is why I thought just Modaco wasn't turning on when I read your post without reading the title the 2nd time.
Plus I missed all the follow up posts. That's what I get for running around on my phone trying to read threads
With that being said, then what I wrote should resolve your issues.
Follow my RED link in my sig, and that should help to resolve your issues. I wrote out the steps previously, but looking at the link may help you

You mentioned in the op you tried flashing in ODIN.
What exactly is your phone able to do?
Do you see anything on the display?
Does it boot into anything?
Etc...
What does 'tried going into recovery but it still boot loops' mean?
If you go step by step what you did before the issue and after, including Exactly what status your device is in, it will help in attempting to troubleshoot and resolve your issues.
I can get it into download mode but flashing Odin does nothing. When I hit the power button to turn it on it goes all the way until the t mobile logo and stalls. Sometimes it just vibrations off and on with a dark screen. When I try to go into recovery with the volume up and power keys or says 'rebooting recovery' in blue like it always does but then it just goes to booting normally and then hangs there.

Can you confirm what version of the S4 you have?
The SGH-M919?
Not trying to be stupid or anything, just making sure.
Have you tried this..
1. Flash a recovery image using Heimdall (I'd suggest ClockworkMod)
2. Reboot to recovery. (Hopefully it goes through this time)
3. adb sideload a ROM to your device.
4. Flash the ROM.
5. Win?
Just trying to think of ways you can get your device back up and running.

I did that. It's caked download mode. That's where I flashed Odin off my computer.
I noticed after flashing stock with Odin, I get bootloops, unless I do a factory reset. After stock flashes, it reboots into recovery and wipes cache by itself. When it finishes that and it starts to reboot by itself, I press the volume up button and go into recovery. I do a factory reset and reboot and all is fine, no bootloops.

I understand that, my post is describing what happens when you flash a stock tar, not bootlooping, I am describing exactly what happens during the process of flashing a stock tar and how to avoid bootlooping, step by step. I guess you weren't paying attention when you flashed a stock tar with Odin, it reboots for the first time by itself and goes into stock recovery and wipes cache by itself, it's a normal process, maybe that part confused you. Any hows, good luck, I have explained step by step what I do to avoid bootloops and my directions are clear and simple. Bye.

So if you, jikre, know how to fix this issue, I'm all ears.

Got you man, i'm just saying that this problem of yours is come with the Andro v4.3 and knox bootloader. First if anyone tried to install custom recovery it get stuck on bootlogo, but that is an another factor you can reboot it manually into recovery menu.
On the end when you attempt to reboot (from recovery) it asks you to disable stock recovery and you reboot your phone normally, that's it!

Ah okay, that makes sense. Unfortunately that doesn't apply to my situation. I had already been on a 4.3 custom rom for several months when the phone just died like that. As of right now, I can only get it to work if I flash a stock ROM on it.

T805 bad flash in Odin and no recovery with button combo

Hi everyone, some help is needed. Mistakenly when rooting my stock T805 with CF autoroot, tired and sleepy, I flashed it in Odin in BL (bootloader) and not in AP box as I should. Soft bricked it, couldn't go back to stock, somehow managed to install recovery, from there to some AOSP rom and finally to Xtrolite (which is great) .Anyhow, all is working now, EXCEPT, i still cannot flash stock rom in Odin, seems i destroyed bootloader but then again, I flashed stock bootloader-only file, i got recovery, any rom etc. Help is needed what to do??
Also, is this normal that VOL UP+ POWER+ HOME wont enter recovery?? I remember this when i bought it, with knox 0x0 and now also, with TWRP, i have to use an app to reboot to recovery?! weird...
Cheers!
If you had trashed the bootloader you wouldn't even have a bootable device, it would be bricked.
Not getting into recovery is purely pilot error.
You need to give more details regarding flashing the stock rom, screen shots etc.
Part of the problem was that i couldn't enter recovery with button combo but needed to have working rom with special app or 4 way reboot mod. When flashing stock rom (either 4.4.2 or 5.0) at the end of the proccess it says: FAIL (red).

You need to post a screen shot of the flash process in Odin.
I'll reiterate, regarding entering recovery mode is 99% of times user error.
From power off hold POWER + HOME + VOL UP until recovery boots.

I'll reiterate, regarding entering recovery mode is 99% of times user error.
From power off hold POWER + HOME + VOL UP until recovery boots.

Tnx. Finally managed to find some time and clear this one out. It was LP bootloader issue, appareantly you can go back only to some 4.4.2 bootloaders/roms and some not.
I got another brain puzzling issue with my Nexus 10, please share some insight....http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-10/help/nexus-10-half-to-bricked-t3210005

Help with rooting (or something) gone wrong on Samsung GT-N5120

Hi!
My neighbors (11-year old) son apparently tried to root their Samsung GT-N5120 with something called King Root(??). I don't know more than that and they asked me to fix it cause (you know computers) -.-.
The problem is that it's stuck in boot loop. It boots up and it shows the screen and all but it doesn't happen anything and then it reboots. Now what i've tried is to start it in recovery mode (Volume Up + menu button + power button) and i've tried to do a factory reset but it didn't work. From what i've read i think he has overwritten those files that the factory reset needs. So what can I do? It doesn't seem to be bricked since it starts and I can start it in both recovery mode and download mode. My computer reacts when I plug it in and tries to install drivers and so forth (but it won't show up on My Computer). So something probably can be done I just don't know what to do. Any ideas?

If I start it normally it gets stuck a while on the animation screen, then it restarts, is stuck a while and so on. If I boot it up in recovery mode (home+power+vol up) I can navigate those menus and if I boot it up in download mode (home+power+vol down) I can navigate in those menus.

try installing king root on your computer and unrooting the device if that didn't help you can install a custom ROM through recovery or a stock ROM through Odin.

I think I would like to install a custom ROM either through recovery or through Odin (the one that's easiest). The thing is I don't really know where to begin when it comes to tutorials and such, do you have any suggestions of a good tutorial of how to do that? And if you have a link for a custom ROM (or stock ROM) that would work for this device I would reeeally appreciate it!
