i been having problems unlocking my bootloader on my m8 from tmobile. i do everything right according to what the tool kit say to do i go to the devs website from htc to unlock bootloader this is what it says i know i did everything right as i have tried this like 10 times but i always get the same message Error Code: Invalid Bootloader Token Length.
Error Reason: The submitted Token appears to be the wrong length and won't work
i even counted the token id number and its the same as the example on the developers site except different numbers and letters . i just want to do the right thing to root this correctly . i hope someone on here can help me with this flaw it seems im having
Had the same issue. On my Windows PC it was an adding extra space at the beginning of each line of the token when I cut/paste. Once I deleted those it worked fine.

When I would paste the token in the little window on the htcdev site, each line had an extra space added at the far left. I went through each line and deleted that leading space and it worked.

Hey there guys. These days Motorola announced their new web site, where you can "unlock" your bootloader. I've registered and tried to follow what they say, but I can't enter the fastboot mode.
When you enter in this link: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
You click "proceed anyway" at the bottom, register and gets to a page that says this:
DEVICE ID AND UNLOCK KEY
To unlock your device, you need to retrieve your device ID and obtain an unlock code.
I. RETRIEVING YOUR DEVICE ID
Put your device in fastboot mode (Power+Vol Down) and connect over USB
Open a command prompt or Terminal session
Go to the Directory where you installed the Android SDK tools, and type:
$ fastboot oem get_unlock_data
This fastboot command will return a character string. This is the Device ID which you will be using to generate your unique unlock key.
$ fastboot oem get_unlock_data
(bootloader) 0A40040192024205#4C4D3556313230
(bootloader) 30373731363031303332323239#BD00
(bootloader) 8A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F95
(bootloader) 1A3E5#1F53280002000000000000000
(bootloader) 0000000
OKAY
[0.297s]
To generate your unlock code, you’ll need to paste together the 5 lines of output into one contnuous string without "(bootloader)" or white spaces.. Using the example above, the line you’d send us would be:
0A40040192024205#4C4D35563132303037373136303130333 2323239#BD008A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F951A3E5#1 F532800020000000000000000000000
Enter your continuous string into the "Request Your Unlock Key" section below.
Someone with an "extra" Defy that is on the stock GB, wants to try this? I can't enter on the stock recovery/fastboot mode to try this. But the hope still. I know that Moto says that only Xoom and Razr Dev Edition can be unlocked, but we should try.
Hope someone can retrieve and key and send to moto, to see what happens.
Rock on! o/
Good Idea! i hope this can help our DEFY's bootloader get unlocked!

There's no fastboot for Defy.

This was actually the first thing I've done after reading there's only one device supported.
Or, let's say, I told them to try again, but this time in a way the community doesn't feel screwed (again).
There's no news, none, in this unlock procedure. There are no new devices as the Photon has actually been already announced to be unlockable and the other ones can't be unlocked by this anyway. This is just a joke.
I'll make an educated guess - it will be another 6 months until a new device shows up there and no, it's not going to be a legacy device like our Defy.
And I'm not even going to speak about this whole warranty thing. Though other manufacturers seem to be a bit more accommodating, I'm pretty sure Motorola's going to **** us over once again by neglecting to replace phones with production faults when the bootloader's been unlocked.
Just wait for it.
Motorola-global-portal.custhelp says: Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking

I've heard on some places that users after getting their bootloader relocked by HTC doesn't allow it to be unlocked again. I'm not sure, can someone else confirm?
You need your original unlock code. You should have kept it, without it you won't be able to unlock again

More than likely they gave you a different phone instead of repairing the original just do the same steps you did to unlock bootloader the first time.
Act like is a brand new phone.

Create a new user name at the HTC unlock site with a good friends email that had not received an unlock token from them. And try again. Sending your new unlock code to their email hopefully that will do the trick
when i tried unlock bootloader HTC link show this answer
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.

Error Reason: The submitted Token appears to be the wrong length and won't work.

I think that you didn't copy the correct output after you sent command fastboot get oemunlocktoken.
Make sure you don't copy any of the arrows and don't have any spaces in the text you copy

The Unlock_code.bin is not supposed to be viewed, it's supposed to be used in the following manner:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
Then if you accept the terms and press Yes, it will erase everything and unlock the bootloader.
Hello,
I tried to unlock my HTC One M8's bootloader 5-6 times yesterday, and 2 times again today via HTCdev but couldn't (already did it successfully with an other M8 so I know how to do that).
Here's the message I receive everytime :

Sorry it didn't work out. Here's why:

Searching around the net, it seems that not cutting & pasting the bin code exactly right is one cause for Error 150. Double and triple check you are doing it right. Although if you've already tried 7 times, I imagine that you've already checked this, or would have gotten it right at least once by now.
Is it possible the phone is a refurb, or otherwise used? One link (another device) stated you might get this error if the phone had its mainboard replaced at some point. In that case, it won't be possible to unlock the bootloader.
One other thought I had, the bin code is generated from the phone's IMEI. So if the IMEI was changed by a previous owner (such as a stolen phone), I would think it would result in an invalid bin code.
I just got my htc 10 today. I am trying to unlock the bootloader. I have the unlocked us model so i know it is not locked. every time i try to select my identifier token it always highlights extra parts. I tried copying and pasting the whole block of text and deleting the extra words but htc dev still wont give me my unlock code. Is it possible to have someone send me a unlock code file to unlock my bootloader or am i stuck with a locked bootloader for life. Any help would be great. I can provide my email if needed.
there are extra spaces at the end too you have to delete. You can't use someone's unlock_token.

Are you using windows 10? I had the same issue. If you enable legacy options in the command window it will make it so only what you highlight will be selected. Right click the top bar in the cmd window to access the options. And you can just request a new token if that one doesn't work, since the code changes.

That worked perfectly thank you. I didnt know windows 10 had that issue

Cool, good luck. What rom you plan on running?
i really want to run viper rom. i love the customation features and ota updates. I just have to check and see what superuser app to use because i know the htc 10 has that issue where if you dont do everything right you lose your cell signal.

Once you install twrp you can just flash viper and it will already be rooted so no need to root it on it's own. I'm running Viper also and it has all the customizations that I love!
