I've heard on some places that users after getting their bootloader relocked by HTC doesn't allow it to be unlocked again. I'm not sure, can someone else confirm?

You need your original unlock code. You should have kept it, without it you won't be able to unlock again

More than likely they gave you a different phone instead of repairing the original just do the same steps you did to unlock bootloader the first time.
Act like is a brand new phone.

In your opinion, what's the problem?

Create a new user name at the HTC unlock site with a good friends email that had not received an unlock token from them. And try again. Sending your new unlock code to their email hopefully that will do the trick

when i tried unlock bootloader HTC link show this answer
We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.
Error Code: Invalid Bootloader Token Length.
Error Reason: The submitted Token appears to be the wrong length and won't work.
please help me this is very important for me

I think that you didn't copy the correct output after you sent command fastboot get oemunlocktoken.
Make sure you don't copy any of the arrows and don't have any spaces in the text you copy

dear gogo,
I've tried that, the service info will tell you "bootloader unlock allowed = yes"
it will not tell you whether your phone is locked or unlocked state!
It will tell you.
Mine is unlocked and says " Bootloader unlocked: Yes "

Bootloader unlocked: Yes
Means fastboot is enabled and the bootloader can be unlocked the official way
Bootloader unlocked: No
Means fastboot is disabled and therefore the bootloader can only be unlocked by other means
The best way for you to check your bootloader status is do identify in s1tool or similar

I am having a hard time unlocking my htc 10 unlocked usa edtion

I just got my htc 10 today. I am trying to unlock the bootloader. I have the unlocked us model so i know it is not locked. every time i try to select my identifier token it always highlights extra parts. I tried copying and pasting the whole block of text and deleting the extra words but htc dev still wont give me my unlock code. Is it possible to have someone send me a unlock code file to unlock my bootloader or am i stuck with a locked bootloader for life. Any help would be great. I can provide my email if needed.
there are extra spaces at the end too you have to delete. You can't use someone's unlock_token.

Are you using windows 10? I had the same issue. If you enable legacy options in the command window it will make it so only what you highlight will be selected. Right click the top bar in the cmd window to access the options. And you can just request a new token if that one doesn't work, since the code changes.

i really want to run viper rom. i love the customation features and ota updates. I just have to check and see what superuser app to use because i know the htc 10 has that issue where if you dont do everything right you lose your cell signal.

Once you install twrp you can just flash viper and it will already be rooted so no need to root it on it's own. I'm running Viper also and it has all the customizations that I love!

HTC 10 (s-off) SiM unlock

Hi Guys,

I was just recently messing around with my CID and MID. Can you get to "setting", "security". About 3/4 way down is "SIM Lock" settings. If it's locked it probably has a PIN or password. You should be able to toggle it off and on.

Actually, I don't have such setting. The phone was from T-mobile. I usually just use the app to unlock. This time, it did not work. I guess the original owner may still own money to tmobile.
Right now, I already have a custom ROM and can't go back to the original ROM even I made a backup with TWRP.
As my phone is s-off, I though I had the full control of my phone and it won't be hard
Anyway, please let me know if there is a way to unlock a s-off HTC 10.

Yea you might be right about the previous owner owing in it. Or if they don't, maybe it hasn't been unlocked from T-Mobile. When I paid off my M8 I had to call T-Mobile and can get an unlocked code from them after they confirmed it was paid in full and that I had an active account for at least 6 months.

Hi Guys,
Just want to let you know that. I bought the unlock code and it worked. just $2.5.
The only think I don't understand is (sorry, not android developer ), that why we can't unlock sim for a s-off htc 10. My undersanding is that once the phone is s-off, we have the full control of all partitions of the phone. I would image that it's just a matter of overriding the data on the phone. (maybe I oversimplified the process).
Thanks

Yes, I am sure. Every ROM works, but not all with all carrier. I had the same thought as yours and turned out that it did not work.
I installed several different ROM and tried the original stock ROM. It only recognize the tmboile.
The funny thing is that, I tried Lineage 15.1 and unlock the sim with the code. It worked. However, when I tried 14.1, it does not recognize my SIM again. 15.1 is not good for my phone. The "home" button did not work

You're right in assuming what S-Off does. But I believe the SIM card is controlled by the carrier. So when they "lock" a SIM card it is done on the carrier's level where they use the IMEI number of the device to toggle an activation lock so that that IMEI number can't get activated on any network. When they give you the unlock code, they essentially release the IMEI number of that device from any activation restrictions. Being S-Off will give you the ability to "unlock" the SIM so that you can use other carrier's SIM cards, ie, AT&T device on T-MOBILE's network, etc.
I may be corrected if any of the above is incorrect. But I'm pretty sure this is correct for the most part.

However, I disagree some part of the above. The SIM unlock is NOT done at the carrier's level. As far as I understand. The SIM lock is a restriction on the somewhere on the phone. I have gone through many other posts in the forum. For example, for M9, you can just overwrite some bytes on the phone to archive that. Unfortunately, no such thing for HTC 10.
The unlock activity is only on the phone to allow it to use other SIM. There is no communication to the carrier.
Thanks,
Steven
