I've had my g3 since it was released for pre-order. The past two days the device has been running really slow, everything I do it seems there's a second or two delay especially with text input, its just stock rooted with xposed and greenify, titanium used to freeze all the bloat but that was day 1, just yesterday I was messaging someone on Facebook and there was a delay in typing a message, haven't added many apps on the device either, also my phone doesn't get hot and I don't leave my brightness no more than 40%, usually at auto 0%, I really don't want to factory reset but I might have to seeing its to slow to use yet there isn't really much running on the device. Any help would be appreciated thanks
Also in dev options animations are turned off
mine was running like that when using the chainfire supersu app, i was also getting bad battery life due to a wakelock related to it. i switched to the chainsdd app and now the phone is super smooth and the battery life is greatly improved.

I also got a parsing error when trying to install g3 tweaks box if it means anything, might try a factory reset or an exchange, thankfully I have a nexus 7 2013 but it's a piece due to the plagued random reboot problem

Can't post the link, sorry!

Installed this earlier today. Seems to be working good so far. I like the Auto update option over wifi setting. It also seems to be more responsive than the 3.2 that I have been using.
Sweet, my biggest annoyance with the market was how I could only chose between auto-updating and possibly wasting my data plan (minor I know but I don't NEED the facebook update instantly) and having to manually do it. Love how MIUI has the option.

mine is working good to on MIUI I wonder how much earlier did we actually get this update from other people who will get it from their carriers?
After installing this, I started getting "popup" ads in my status bar. After uninstalling they went away.
Did I miss a setting or something? Lookout scan shows no threat, but I can only assume it was this market given the evidence...
can someone enlighten me on how to install this blasted thing?

You should be able to navigate to it in a file explorer (like rootexplorer) and just click on it to install.
Yeah I figured it out. Search-fu is lazy today lol.

I have had my European G3 for a couple of days and what's getting me off is the small (and sometimes bigger)
lags here and there. Its probably mostly up to LGs skin a and apps but I rather not starting out using Nova because I think the functions are pretty good.
Right now the darn keyboard is lagging precisely that the ripped variant did on my M8, darn lag....
Anyone got any tips. So far I've tried:
1. Reset. Works for a while ...
2. Root n freeze n grenify. Well, it's lagging
So? Anyone with the same experience and maybe a fix?
Edit. I think I've got some of of the lag away.
So far I've tried the following:
1. Root
2. Greenify
3. Changed read ahead etc with trickster
4. Changed minfree and applied som launcher tweaks
5. Developer settings stuff
6. Other than that adfree, probably at a cost
The launcher and apps is now feeling a bit snappier and the battery should not be worse at least.
In developer's options either scale animations to 0.5 or off completely, see if it works

Trouble is it seems to get hot very easily
Weird. I haven't gotten any lags or stutters with mine.
Only bug happened was when I wake the phone it instantly locks it again. So I just restarted it and everything is fine.
Maybe try swiftkey? It's free and I love it with my Note 2 - especially the ability to control how long a long press is for numbers etc. Let me know how it is if you do, since I plan on using it with the G3.
Also, maybe something like Greenify will help hibernate more background processes and make it heat up less and free up the CPU?
I find lag on first day of use. Didnt install any app yet.
I think it was way over bloated with carrier app. Try disable a few with titanium backup. It seemed to help alot in my case.

Hi. Im using swiftkey now, thé built in is sometimes extremely laggy. Developers option done. Still laggy, I give it another week other wise I return it and buy a G2 instead.

Uninstall the bloat. I have zero lag after uninstalling it. When I first got the phone it did lag because of the unnecessary bloat. I use the google keyboard (android l) and it works fine.

Root. Takes 30 seconds and if you want back to stock just remove whatever you did to system and reset the devise to get rid of the evidence
Edit. I think you just can uninstall most LG stuff.

Was thinking of rooting, just not sure If I can, haven't heard of a tool that roots the UK LG G3 D850.
Is there a tool anyone can recommend?

UK D850? I don't think thats a thing. The UK versions should be the international (EU) versions the LGD855, which towelroot works to root the device.
You can't do anything to get rid of it.
Best case scenario is future updates by LG will improve performance, but no one can know for sure.
600€ phone and it lags. Money means nothing anymore

I guess you haven't used an S5. That thing is ridiculous.
After using my LG G3 a couple of days I'll say it lags about the same as the S5 did before the first two updates. You have to give it to Sammy, they did try to fix it pretty quick. The problem is more that their ui lags in the first place.

Nova feels a great deal smoither, the problem is LGs ui, but switching to a better launcher takes away a lot of LG stuff like the fitnessapp and I using it. Darn LG stop baking in functions in out ui alone [emoji35]

Well, there is an option in Developer Options to select either the old, trusty Dalvik cache or the new, snappy Android Run Time. I'm kind of inclined to select ART, since it promises faster response time... but I wanted to check with you folks to see what YOU decided to use.
So which do you prefer? And why? And have you encountered any issues? I'm using the Developer Edition, rooted with deodexed stock ROM.
ART seems buggy right now. I'll use Dalvik until android L

I tried the art because I was curious also. It was very sluggish, so I just switched it back and left it..
Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
ART works well for battery life..... But is really slow to boot up. So if you restart your phone often it will be painful.
My phone got blazing hot after I set it to ART. Set it back to Dalvik and took it apart for a few minutes to let it cool down.
Using ART and everything is great. But ever since I had an update for S Health my phone must optimize 83 apps and it takes a good 5 minutes until I see my lock screen. Haven't tried to use S Health yet but it had FC on me a few times when trying to open it. Should I wipe the app's data and then reboot? Other than that I have seen nothing but positives from using ART.

I never set up the app either. I uninstalled, set it up and now im gonna try to update and see if it holds up. Is it a bug related to ART or just in general?
I completely forgot that 4.4 brought ART along with it. Just enabled and yes the initial boot took a while because it recompiled apps from JIT to AOT.
I havent noticed any major slow downs besides right after first boot since then it has been fine. I wonder what this will do for battery life.

You'd have to ask someone more familiar with it. So far is only been s-health and the fact android upgrades everytime you restart that keeps me off ART. I imagine android 5 will implement ART better

Hi.
Have noticed that this phone is extremely slow while installing or updating apps from the play store. It is lagging like hell just switching home screens, anyone else have noticed this? Can this have with the encrypted system?
And if i install a custom rom to disable encryption, will it be a noticeable performance change of the phone?
Thanks

Are you talking about downloading one or two apps?Or more of a got the phone and restored all your apps from the playstore? Usually downloading an app or two has had no real lag for my phone. As far as decryption and custom roms go alot of the time the custom roms with the right gapps pack (i use banks) will give you a little bit more ram to use and have other system optimiziations that will make it run a little bit smoother than stock. But that will depend on the rom and kernel (over//underclock)combo you use.

Noticed it espessially when updating Messenger and Facebook today, and also Es file explorer. So only 3 apps. I am familliar that restoring the phone makes it slow, but this was only 3 apps as written :\
Ok, if it is only a little it may not be worth it then? Never had a nexus before, but with samsung a custom kernel/rom helped a lot.

So, I have this issue, where most of my apps can't stay in recent apps overnight. They all get killed, all but 5 I have noticed. I did the battery optimization thing for all apps I use on a daily basis. I have edited build.prop file and added sys.keep_app_1=com.whatsapp and so on for the rest of my apps. I also did that in the local.prop file. None of it worked. How to prevent my phone from killing apps overnight?

If you are rooted you might try the app LSpeed and use one of the build in RAM profiles.
I am rooted. OK, I will try it. Thanks. It shuts my app very VERY aggressively. For instance, I was watching some youtube video yesterday, and in the other app I was searching for some products and was going back and forth between YouTube and Google Chrome, and every couple of times it restarted YouTube app, even though I was using it 2 minutes ago.

Both youtube and chrome are resource hungry apps, that's why it keeps reloading.

Tried it already, didn't work. Try leaving 10-15 apps opened in the evening, and see in the morning if they are still in recent apps. And tell me tomorrow.

Well, then you probably need a custom rom. Android One is known to be optimized for dumping non needed tasks. You could try to disable battery optimizing for the apps you would like to stay alive.
Tried that too, didn't work.
My previous phone was 2Gb running android 6. Now i have a mi a2 life 4Gb and it is OK except for 2 games.
Apparently there's some AI that learns what you use but after many weeks no change.
Most apps open pretty fast. It's only these 2 games that I run daily. Annoying to have to wait for them especially since the old phone was able to keep them cached.
I tried the low-memory config (magisk module) but it didn't help. I guess android has changed its algorithm. I'm resigned to it.
It's insane. What's the point of having 4, 6, 8 or 10GB of ram if you can't use it?!
Connect it to a monitor, install Taskbar app and SecondScreen app, enable Freeform windows and turn your phone into a mediocre PC. Assuming you can get all the resources back from OS's hidden service threads of course.
Facing the same issue
facing same issue specially after android 10 update. Change apps back and forth even in recent apps menu kills the app. My phone is 4/64.

Android 10 has a known problem. Rebooting helps. For how long seems to vary. I get a week or so, some people only get a day.
I had the same problem when I was unrooted during the Android 10 update crash. After rooting and installing Lspeed again, Android is not killing apps anymore as I set these settings
