[Q] Mod to adjust screen contrast / saturation? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I previously used Samsung devices and liked the 'screen mode' options (standard, vidid, professional, etc) they provided to have more or less contrast and saturation.
Are there any similar mods to adjust system-wide screen colour settings with root on the M8? I'm currently running Venom rom.

Same issue. Got the answer!
Use turbo ROM. Its a custom ROM but you can change contrast and saturation. Also installed gappa. (Pico worked for me)

can i return the "quality" back to my phone?
thx for helping...
do you have this issue with your display or with pictures you take using the integrated camera?
It kind of looks like a low color depth.
Do you have this problem with every dark area on your phone? Does it appear on plain black screens or only if you have a gradient in a dark colored area?
I have had a similar issue with the background image in the HTC Music player background which disappeared after installing the REvolution-Theme
I having those issues everywhere. .. and now
i noticed that on very bright images too...
Even at the clock apk background where
There is a gradient blur behind it.
But no display issues on surfing thou.

That's over-brightness...
probably exaggerated gamma. Easily done on a computer... Due to the exaggerated gamma, there's a uneven flow of colors, hence the color banding you're seeing.
i dont think its over brightness because at the stock rom i didnt get the display issues.
i must say that the display issues are more effective with gradient dark colors...
That, my friend, is not an issue of the ROM...
i only said that it was happening just after flashing the rom [rom kernel radio etc...]
on the stock rom, without all rooting\flashing roms it didnt appear.
here are example taken from my desire hd:

Do full wipe and install again.
do think the problem is on the rom flash or karnel flash?
on the first time i did a full wipe + run the "easy wipe tool "

Colored darkness filters

I've been looking for apps that can apply filters to the color of what's being rendered on screen, I've found two apps so far. One is exclusive for samsung galaxy devices and the other is Chainfire 3D, which doesn't work on ICS. I was wondering if anyone knows of any apps or custom roms that can achieve this effect, basically make the screen even darker than usual by only displaying everything in one color. I know this is used for some OLED screens to save battery life, but it would be great for me in low light environments.
There's an app called Screen Filter but I'm not sure if you have the option to change the color.

Dull colors on custom ROM(5.x.x) solved.

Anyone experiencing dull colors on custom ROMs just flash a custom kernel,I recommend Sandys kernel.
Then get the Kernel Aduitor app and under screen tab there will a saturation intensity setting, increase it according to your need.Colors would be normal again.
I recommend to keep it around 45-55.

Color Saturation on CM ROMS

Hello All,
I just installed CM 13 on my Galaxy Note 4 and although i love the ROM, i noticed the color saturation of the screen is a bit dull and washed out compared to Touchwiz ROMs. Is there any way to boost up the saturation of the screen?

Not sure if this answers your question, but the first thing that I did was turn off the LiveDisplay feature (which is on by default in the 9/19 build). That changes the color temperature of your display based on the time of day. It's under Settings>Display & Lights (also in the quick bar by default).

Try going into Settings -> Advanced Display, and set the mDNIe scenario to Video. I'm not well acquainted with this setting, but it looks to me like that increases the saturation.

Grayscale font antialiasing / reducing sharpness

I might be the only one (I didn't find similar complaints) but I don't like how S4 renders black text on white background. It's as if the "sharpness" setting was too high, plus I notice colorful artifacts coming from subpixel font antialiasing (for people not knowing what I'm talking about: forums.macrumors.com/attachments/screen-shot-2013-03-12-at-5-10-16-pm-png.402071/. In the past I didn't have problems with sub-pixel rendering, but the way S4 does it bothers me.
I tried changing screen modes and using custom fonts but nothing helps. After updating to Pie it's a little better but still not as nice as I get on my monitor or a phone.
So to sum up I would like to have two settings which I can't currently find anywhere:
- enabling grayscale font antialiasing
- reducing "sharpness"
The question is if the Modesty ROM or other roms have support for these settings, or they change the rendering engine?
