I purchased the G3 from AT&T about a week ago. I have 7 more days to return it for $35 restocking fee. With the news of the T mobile bootloder coming unlocked I wanted to get some opinions from others whether it would be wise to return it. What is the probability the AT&T version bootloader will successfully be unlocked. I've been with AT&T for 6 years and like my service but would switch for an unlocked bootloader if the AT&T version isn't likely to get unlocked.
Just want some opinions to help me decide and thanks for input.
I doubt it will get unlocked.

Phone: AT&T Galaxy S3 version 4.3 SGH-1747
Background:
I am Australian and I was in America for 3 months. At the start of the trip I needed a new phone so I bought an AT&T S3 SGH-I747. Before purchasing I made sure to ask whether I could unlock it as soon as I walked out of the store if I needed due to I had to head to Australia where there is no AT&T service. I got told Yes. I went back in before leaving America and they said just to do online. I did process online and it told me to wait 7 day. 9 days later I got told it couldn't be unlocked due to 6month period. I called up and they said they would unlock it. 9 days later they said it couldn't be unlocked and I had missed their call (phone was in Australia so no reception). So far I have had 200 of international minutes (through skype so didn't cost much) and waited over a month to try get this unlocked always in a state of 7days or less to unlock. I am now waiting on a Supervisors's Supervisors's Supervisors's Supervisor to give me a call back however I don't think it is happening as they said 24 hours and it has been 72. I really need this phone unlocked. It is on 4.3 and hence I can't get it unlocked with the 4.1.1 trick. I am a software engineer so technical instructions are not a problem.
Question:
How can I get this phone unlocked within the next 48 hours maximum? I wouldn't mind buying an unlock code if there is no other way and if that is the best option which is the safest site to do it on?
I read in other posts that people were able to get the unlock code via AT&T online chat support.
The safest way to unlock your phone would be to buy a code; however, you may have to get the code from a non-US unlocker due to the USA's laws regarding unlocking of phone manufactured after January 26, 2013.

Unfortunately I have tried that and I cannot get to a decent representative who can do anything but tell me to try through their online system which will tell me I'm not eligible due to I had to pre-pay and hence am on a GoPhone which they don't give any decent customer service. 2 hours of calls to reps and 16 different people.
Sounds like you'll have to go with an unlock code. It's the safest since you're on a 4.3 ROM.

Could you recommend a safe place to buy it?
Sorry, I can't recommend any unlockers as I unlocked my s3 myself using the stock 4.1.1 ROM.
Anyone know of a safe place to buy an unlock code for AT&T I747 version 4.3?
I am on AT&T. Should I order an Unlocked T-Mobile, as I hear they do not have locked bootloader?? Or just stick with AT&T version. I know AT&T record with Updates is also Terrible and Slow.
With the AT&T version is there a way to delete the AT&T apps with a locked bootloader?
I'm stuck with AT&T mainly because I'm a little strapped for cash, so I'll be taking advantage of the $200 promo at Best Buy and get it at an upgrade price.
I guess we won't know for certain if the AT&T version will have a locked bootloader (probably will) or if it will be encrypted. The HTC One M8 on AT&T was unlockable, which definitely surprised me.
I'm coming from a Note 2. Hopefully AT&T will play nice and not encrypt the bootloader like they did on the S5.
My girlfriend has an S5. It's encrypted, which means I can't mess with her phone, which also means she has nothing to yell at me about...

They vowed a year ago that all their upcoming phones would have locked bootlaoders. They said something like, "we will not support unlocked bootloaders." And I don't get that because their version of the M8 can have its bootloader unlocked.

I think it's because HTC themselves released a method of unlocking the M8's bootloader. I doubt Samsung will ever do something like that.
hi so I am looking at buying a new htc 10 for verizon. I am aware that I will not be able to use it on the verizon network unless I root it and tweak some things. On the other hand I could buy the verizon htc 10 and send it to get unlocked. I'm not sure what to do for a couple reasons.
1. If I unlock the verizon phone, will I then be able to use it on GSM networks at a later time and can I get rid of ALL the bloatware (DT Ignite, NFL Mobile, etc...) that an unlocked phone purchased straight from HTC would have?
2. I'm not completely phone literate, but I did root my LG G2 for limited purposes. I'm a college student who studies electronics so I don't imagine it'll be too difficult with guides and youtube but i just dont want to **** up and brick a brand new phone. So would it be worth the effort to root an unlocked phone for verizon or should i just save myself the trouble and get the verizon phone and get it rooted for me?
3. Will my coverage with verizon be the same on an unlocked htc 10?
Thanks in advance guys! much appreciated.
Has anyone gone through a 3rd party service to unlock a s9 yet?
I was told that it's internationally unlocked but not domestically unlocked. The carrier wont unlocked the phone until the phone contract is up.
I'm in the process of having mine unlocked(via code), I'll update if it was successful.
What the Benefits of unlock Samsung Galaxy S9 Smartphone ?
To be able to use it with other carriers.
Trying to unlock my AT&T model, and it's been a week so far. Unlockers on Ebay have been unsuccessful, AT&T has given me the runaround. SUPPOSEDLY it will be done in 48 hours, but I've heard that for the past week.
T-Mobile will unlock their model within a day if you contact them on Twitter. AT&T is just proving why they're an embarrassment of a carrier.
Well, Sprint has the crazy rule of being active for 50 days before unlocking...
I'm debating paying for an unlocked if one can be found.

Have either of you had luck with unlocking your AT&T S9 with a 3rd party unlock service?

Mine was an Xfinity Mobile variant, but after trying 3 different companies and trying for a few weeks, I finally got it unlocked. The Unlocking CO was finally able to unlock my phone, it took almost 3 days for them to get the code but it worked.
I actually got a refund from Pro Unlockers, and AT&T finally came through after 2 weeks.
Hey! I'm pretty good when it comes to unlock phones, i got mine (s9) unlocked for international USE... If any of you has any questions, Telegram: @laacv17

Last time I checked they carry S9 for network unlocking.
You can get any S9 or S9+ variant unlocked through Ebay including Sprint:
Also can do Bad IMEI devices also. Look through items for sale. 100%guarantee.

Have you done this or know anyone that has? Thanks
I did this 2 days ago, it works perfectly. Took about 15 minutes. It cost me $60, its cheaper in other places now
Got my unlock through swift unlocks and it works perfectly .
I ordered a t-mobile s9 unlock a week ago from one (reputable) place, and they just sent me an email that unlocking is delayed and they are trying an alternative database. Does anyone know if this is normal?

When you unlocked it with AT&T, did you lose Wifi calling ability with AT&T? Curious to know as that will determine if I get mine unlocked for possible future move to another carrier. I understand if its unlocked and I move to a different carrier, that I for sure will lose WiFi calling and other advanced features...I'm just curious if I will lose them right off the bat with the original AT&T carrier.

Pixel should be unlocked. I never saw any locked but I could be wrong.
There are many network locked pixels. This one is locked to EE UK
I think I read somewhere that you can call EE to ask them to unlock it, if the guys you bought it from is not mark as bad payer, they should agree to unlock it for a small fee (like 10£ I think).
EE phone as software locked to EE by Google.
They are automatically unlocked by Google after 2 years from being first activated.
You can apply to EE to get it unlocked for a small fee (which they charge as they have to request the unlock from Google), but they can only do this after 6 months since it was initially activated, and only if the phone hasn't been listed as stolen or has unpaid bills on it.
There is no other way to unlock an EE phone.
they introduced this feature in the previous Pixel and Pixel XL.
I would highly recommend that you do not buy it unless you plan on using it on EE.
The Pixel 2 XL hasn't even been out for 6 months yet, so even the first phones to be released won't have hit the 6 month mark, but also, you don't even know when your phone was first activated, so it could be another 5 months before it even qualifies for unlocking.
Plus once it does qualify for unlocking after that 6 month period, you still need to know if it's listed as stolen or has unpaid bills on it.
I bought one off Ebay, learnt my mistake and sold on straight away.
