If you just purchased the phone why not simply return
it to tmobile for an exchange, that's what I would do.
Good luck!

Any problems with the Desire anyone?
Got mine last night, put my SIM in and charged it for four hours, turned it on and can't get to do anything with it.
I'm on T-Mobile and get a pink circle solid pink trailing off (I,m guessing this maybe chases itself around like the busy cursor in Vista) then it shows the htc splash screen, white background with htc in the middle in green letters, this stays a second then goes off for then the splash screen again for a second then off for two etc., you get the picture. That's all it does, will not turn off you have to take the back off and remove the battery, tried rebooting several times and always the same. I put it back on charge overnight and tried it again this morning and the same, left it on for about twenty minutes to see if it should do this for a while and the phone and screen get quite warm.
Well hacked off!! Can't even take it back 'cos it's Easter Sunday and everywhere is shut!!!
Anyone had similar experiences?
As I can't reset via the phone software I did the phone button one, see below, still with no improvement. Mine is going back tomorrow.
Performing a factory reset using phone buttons
If you cannot turn on your phone or access the phone settings, you can still perform a factory reset by using the buttons on the phone.
With the phone turned off, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then briefly press the POWER button.
Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the VOLUME DOWN button..
Press VOLUME DOWN to select CLEAR STORAGE, and then press POWER.
Press VOLUME UP to start the factory reset.
Cheers.
wow seems odd, usually if ts defective it wouldn't show you the boot screen even. but this looks like a software glitch, somehow, .. but again, if its software than you shouldnt be the only one experiencing that
thanx for sharing, .. , hope you can get a replacement ASAP
Other users seem to be experiencing the same problem, I've had a look on the T-Mobile forums and it's reported there.
Sorted, swiftly replaced this morning, this phone is awesome!
Ok so I had installed a home replacement called qq launcher version 1.21 and uninstalled around 10 min after. While it was uninstalling, the loading bar kept going and the phone froze up. So i took out my battery and proceeded to turn it on again. Now when my phone turns on, after booting up it goes to my pattern lock screen with a completely black wallpaper and my phone freezes. When I press the power button, the screen goes black and stays like that. The only time it switches is when i plug in my charger and when i do that, it goes back to to the same lock screen and stays frozen unless i press the power button (which turns my screen black again.) Im running gingerbread 2.3.4 and im not rooted. My phones also disconnected so i only use it on wifi. I would really REALLY appreciate it if someone can help me get my G2 back to normal, i depend on it greatly whenever im on a wifi network.
With the phone off, hold volume down, press and release power. This should pull up the bootloader screen. You should have the option to do a factory reset from here. Try it.
Hi Guys,
Recently my screen has stopped working. The screen remains black but I know the phone is still working because when I press the power button the menu buttons light up. I am able to fix the situation temporarily by doing a soft reset, holding down power button for 10 seconds, and screen will turn on, but later my phone screen stops working again.
BTW I am on Android Revolution HD 9.7.2
Do any of you guys know what I should do?
Thanks.

Sounds like an bad display...try to get it to service if u still have a warranty
I think it could be related to your custom rom. You should try a different rom or go back to stock rom before sending your hox to repair. If screen is booting up properly when you did a soft reset, it sounds more like a software problem for me than a hardware one.
Hi everybody i hope you can help figure out what is wrong whit my phone.
I have an HTC one M8 last week i forgot to charge my phone and let the battery completely drain out. After i charged the phone the screen stayed black but the phone still works. When i touch the screen the phone still vibrates and if i use the volume buttons i can hear the noise and i can even hear the noise the phone makes when i get the notification that i am low on battery but the screen stays black. I wanted to do a factory rest but i can't because i can not see the screen.
Has anyone a solution for this?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english.
Have u tried a hard reset hold power button and volume up button together for about 20 secs then hold volume down until it boots to recovery might take some time getting the button combo right because u have dark screen but give it a try
Background -
I bought this OnePlus 5T with a smashed screen to fix.
Paid 70 bucks for it plus the screen is just shy of 150 in total.
I was able to replace the screen and frame which was a little more complicated than I anticipated, but it ended well and the phone seems fine, although the screen quality isn't as good as stock.
***Problem - it seems that for unknown reasons, after turning off the screen pressing using the power button, screen becomes black and won't turn on, not until i hold the power button for ten seconds and restart the phone the hard way. Then the phone turns on and starts working again, but if I turn the phone off with the power button then it won't turn on again. I can tell the phone is working behind the black screen, vibration working, notification light working. But Everytime I turn the phone off with the power button I have to hard reboot the phone to get it back on again. Once this starts happening I have to factory reset to get the power button functioning normally again. It will work normally for a day or two and then out of no where the issue comes back again after pressing the power button - screen won't turn on.
Could it be software? I know it might be natural to suspect the screen is faulty, but the screen works normally until I use the power button to turn it off, and then works normally again for a couple of days after a factory reset ...
Thoughts ?
