i have a htc one m8, but i have the sprint version, i already have it tampered, unlocked and rooted so s-off enabled and also have it simlocked to work in my country but i have changed the recovey to twrp with the rooting procedure, but then searching on the internet i realized that an ota update can only be performed using a stock recovery so i flashed it again but using the flashify app to proceed the installation of the ota update, then it starts good but with 1/4 of the installation bar on green, suddenly it turns to a red triangle with no installation status bar and the installation doesnt complete i dont know what to do please help!!
Sounds like it's failing because your ROM isn't stock enough. Unlocking can remove some default apps as well, which can break it. There are plenty of people that have experienced this, a search should dig up the information you're after.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/able-to-ota-t2815910 try that, flash the preload zip, and the stock recovery, and pls tell me if it works, cz i'm in the same condition as you, but i don't have an ota to test it yet

i think the apps you need to reflash are calculator, flash light, 7digital, and the stickers effects for the cam

Hi All
Does anybody else got Wildfire S almost unusable after update to 2.3.5? UI is extremely laggy, animations (especially when using clocks with weather) are fragmented and you can see some rectangular overlays instead of pictures, keyboard blinks, so you can hardly type anything, etc., etc.
Factory reset doesn't solve the problem.
How did you install the update? Ruu or ota?
try this
factory reset
Download The ruu from shipped rom's thread
Then install through your PC.
If this is how you installed it already it may have just been an unlucky/bad flash, in which case try again.
It was OTA. But now it doesn't connect to PC - not in Sync or Drive modes...
Looks like HTC service is the only answer.

Depends on region and language required.
If you want English or European languages download the latest euro 2.13.*** it will remove operator bloatware too. But you will have to create a goldcard or you'll get error.
Check the stickies for tutorials.

If you have a HTC Wildfire S A510e (GSM) try to download the file with this name: RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H
It's on football's thread.
If you have error 131 while updating you need to create a goldcard in order to install that RUU.
This subject is more than covered in many threads.
If you want instructions on how to create a goldcard try to go here:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/305672-creating-a-goldcard/
Try to do some research first before picking a ROM at random.
There's lots of info here. Sometimes people are just too lazy to search...
Hi. I have rooted my Wildfire S and cannot get it to upgrade to 2.3.5 using the Phone-update. It shows a triangle with exclamation mark inside and hangs forever. Can only get out of hang by remove battery. Have asked HTC (not told root) but they can only tell me to format SD-card and factory reset. I will now try via PC and GoldCard made by my XTC-Clip. GoCom DK
I tried to update my phone from 1.33.401.2 to 2.13.401.2 with RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225747_signed.exe
I kept getting error 170.
Turned out i had to exit htc sync from the sys tray.

Hey dude, I registered just to help you out because I had a similar situation with my WFS.
After unlocking the bootloader through htcdev and rooting my phone I had the exact same problems - laggy menus, stuttering animations - all-around-crappy-phone-syndrome. But after I applied some android tweaks to the build.prop file, specifically tweaks from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227269), my WFS was smooth as butter.
I applied the following:
Code:
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=150
You can find the build.prop file in the /system folder. Gotta be rooted to edit it though.
Let me know if it worked for you.
Anyone getting exclamatory point in triangle after you click install update and reset phone? If you know whats problem please help.

Hi,
I have the same problem, too. As I read through a lot of post. Look like the install package need to be read by the stock recovery. the CWD recovery can't not extract the install package. That's why it stuck there.
I'm currently looking for the stock recovery to do the job.
But I still not find any.
If you have any news on working this out. please let me know.
Thanks,

Actually I gave it to support, so they uploaded "right" ROM (interesting why I got "wrong" one through OTA? Maybe because I bought it through internet shop and phone origin is some Polish operator, so maybe it was tweaked somewhere on the road? Hard to say...)
Now I'm thinking if next OTA should be tried or old one is just good enough...
Hello I really hope someone can help me.
My phone did the htc one x update (sense 5??) yesterday and i decided to wipe my phone to give it a fair chance to impress me.
as i was copying files over something got corrupt and i lost all my photos, i downloaded various apps to "undelete" but all needed root access.
I never wanted to root my phone but these photos are very important and can never be replaced now.
I used HTCDEV and unlocked the bootloder and the undelete apks still didnt work.
I followed instructions from some youtube video (i know .. like i say i know this is my fault) and then phone no longer boots
I can get into CWM etc and have installed 2 roms that i had downloaded from here and a nandbackup from here and still get same results - nothing
could someone please help me fix my phone (i have accepted i have now lost all my stuff)
thank you for your time and patience
larry.
Same boat, different quarters
looks like you and i have almost identical issues, perhaps the chap that helps you can help me as well.
htc one x, with rogers, with clockworkmod installed, nandroid backup already created.
so, my phone is rooted, has been for awhile. i attempted to install a version of cyanogen mod about half an hour ago using hte fastboot flash boot boot.img command.
it seemed to go fine
my phone can no longer boot past the htc screen. it appears to be trying to boot into recovery, but failing for some reason.
i tryed restoring my nandroid backup, no sd card detected. as anyone responding ot this will know, one x has no SD, but does have an internal SD partition. i couldn' even select my nandroid to restore it.
ive been searching for an HTC ruu to run without sucess, ruu's are only available for the US ATT model.
any help is welcome. thanks in advance.
@Wackywilly522 if you have the Rogers one x you are in the wrong forum, and anything you flash from this forum will damage your phone. You need to be in the Rogers, telstra, at&t forum. This is for the tegra 3 international one x

Thank you for peoples replies.
I understand that my data is 99% sure all gone , at present I just wish to get phone to actually boot.
I thought loading a new rom / nandbackup would have let it boot but I must have damaged something?
I am sorry for being a 'noob' when it comes to this but any help on steps to get the phone to actually be able to make a call would be most helpful.
Thank you once again for your help.

You were on stock Sense 5 4.2.2. So you are on HBOOT 1.72. When you unlock the bootloader and root the phone, the process wipes everything on your phone and your SD storage. So that's why you lost all the photos and everything. But if you have that data backed up somewhere on cloud, you can get it back.
Now as far as the phone not booting, you have CWM and you can get into it. Do you have superuser installed?
As you are on HBOOT 1.72, not every ROM can be flashed into your device now. Plz check the ROM if it can be installed on your device.
If it can be, a boot.img has to be flashed and then the zip can be flashed via CWM.

You lost your data is due to the fact that you unlocked your bootloader for the very first time. There is a prompt saying that you will lose all your data and advice you to back it up. Which probably you didnt that is why this results.
update
i had buy sunshine and make s-off
and removed the tampered and the phone now show its Locked
now i need to unroot it ,, i have to flash stock firmware right ?! with stock recovery
Then I suppose at this post I can ask why make a new post if you already asked this question in another thread You're spamming now...
fastboot oem lock
That's the command to lock bootloader. If it's for warranty purposes it probably doesn't make a huge differences seeing as you're S-ON.
What does it say in bootloader "Software status: Modified" ? Then they already know you messed around with things.
It'll say "Relocked" and not "Locked" so there again, they'll know you messed with the phone already.
To go back to stock 100% for warranty purposes you would have needed S-OFF to achieve that. As it is now the only thing you can do is restore stock ROM, stock recovery and use the code fastboot oem lock to lock the bootloader but that won't prevent them from seeing that you unlocked it previously anyways.

Did you go back to your stock recovery as well? You'll need to.
But the problem is probably a modified system partition. Do you have Xposed installed on your phone? If you do, uninstall all of the modules with Xposed, then uninstall the framework as well to be safe.
Also, you uninstalled SuperSU? Did you use it to unroot first?

Just hold Volume UP or Volume DOWN (Can't remember which one, I think it's Volume UP) and Tap the Power button to get to the log screen of the recovery "installer" to see what error it reports.
If it's a missing file replace it, if it's a file with "unexpected contents" i.e Changes made to it, put back the original.

I was given a VZW note 4, and to my surprise, it was on 5.1.1. and already unlocked, as well as dev mode and perm root.
I've flashed dozens of phones just fine, more or less... Somehow, I really messed this one up. I don't have an SDcard reader on my PC... and now my SD card is borked.
The first thing I did was Odin BPA1>CPD1 Full. That went OK, and changed my baseband to CPD1...
Then, I proceeded to temp root with King0root and Flash TWRP. Both went fine. Then I proceeded to unlock the BL again...
My 'Dev' status is gone, wi-fi gone, SD card gone, Build Number is BPA1, Baseband is CPJ2, and still on 5.1.1! TWRP will NOT flash again!
I'm kind of lost on where to start to try it all from scratch again. N910V
Any hard shoves in the right direction would be well appreciated!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/help/sm-n910-cf-auto-root-t2897428
that hybrid firmware is only good for unlocking the BL the wifi will not work because its missing modems and the A boot bootloader. it appears the no A boot files will not allow the wifi to function. what do you mean the sd card is borked ( no longer readable ) sounds to me you need to start over and the sd card needs to be formatted before you reinstall it into your phone or itll act crazy. best bet is to flash the paul pizz 6.0 rom it gives you root and supersu and xposed your basically romming your 5.1.1 and it works great and you can do the other 6.0 or 7.0 roms off this platform. nevermind the wifi don't work on that rom either.
Well, I got everything sorted out quite nicely. I'm on CPJ2 stock 6.0.1. across the board.
Just one thing....
I can't flash TWRP back in, and my dev tag still isn't back... I'm sure if I could properly root I can use one of those excellent guides to get dev status back,
but it's kind of VERY hard, when I can't get TWRP flashed!
My goal is to end up on CM14 or Emo-OS

eMMC gives me the correct CID. Kingoroot no longer gets me any kind of temp root, so ADB steps aren't happening.

I'm aware, I just thought you knew, try using this guide and video, it's very easy to follow.
Hello XDA! First post here and I’ve been reading a lot since I got my phone. I seem to have found a solution, (maybe), but I'm not clear on a few vital things.
A little back story… my dad just gave me his Verizon Note 4. It was on Marshmallow, but has since been downgraded to Lollipop 5.1.1, N910VVRU2BPA1. From what I understand it still has the locked MM bootloader (?).
I’m planning to root the phone, but only if I can further downgrade it to Kitkat 4.4.4. I’ve read through the thread “Stabilized process used to unlock Bootloader” and it seems it should unlock the bootloader. However, I’ll end up with a “Developer Edition” phone. This leads to my questions…
1) Once successfully rooted and the bootloader is unlocked, will I be able to downgrade the phone to Kitkat by just flashing the firmware in Odin? I really don’t care if I lose root, I just want Kitkat on the phone.
2) Can I just flash the “retail” version of Kitkat from Sammobile or do I need a “developer edition” Kitkat (if there even is one)?
3) Can someone advise me if what I imagine might be possible is even doable?
Any help is greatly appreciated! I’m new to this so if these are just funky questions, please excuse. Lots to learn! Thanks so much!!!
A little help please!
Someone must know this.
Can I or can't I flash the "retail" Kitkat firmware onto a "supposed" Dev Edition rooted to unlock the bootloader?
I hope someone can clarify this before I do something stupid!
Thanks!

Thanks, but I don't need help doing it, I just need someone to answer the questions so I don't mess up the phone.
Yes you can, make sure to unlock bootloader first. But when you flash you will loose bootloader unlock. I have a guide where I could use the lollipop bootloader and use kitkat. I really love kitkat and with root you have lots of potential for battery savings and more!

If you would like to downgrade the bootloader add a twrp custom recovery and use the kitkst method I have and you can have the best phone, I also would recommend you buying a zerolemon battery and case.
But if you do just want to have full stock and have all the bloat ware on it you can like you stated unlock the bootloader and then flash the retail kitkat and your all set and downgraded

Thank you very much for responding! I very much appreciate it!
I don't care to keep root and just want the phone on Kitkat. In the future I may decide to root it and play around with roms and such, but not right now. I can now go ahead and attempt it with confidence. I'll let you know how it goes!
Thanks again! :good:
Well, tried all kinds of stuff and it was a no go.
Was able to get the phone rooted finally... had to use KingOroot. Kingroot failed to work no matter how many versions I tried. Once rooted, checked download mode and it indicated Developer. However, I was unable to install retail KK or KK stock restore in Odin 3.10 and 3.09. Since the flash failed, putting it into recovery ended up in an error about "Software update failed"... use a PC, blah, blah, blah. Wouldn't let me go anywhere in recovery.
Decided to try flashing LP 5.1.1 back to the phone and it flashed ok in Odin 3.09. Phone is back up, but lost root, (expected), and I'm back again at square 1. At least the phone isn't bricked! LOL!
Maybe the problem is that this phone has an MM bootloader so eventhough it's unlocked, you can't flash KK to it? Don't know, but I guess I'm back to trying to find this out.
Good experience so far eventhough this attempt didn't get me anywhere! Well... at least I know how to root it and unlock the bootloader!
