Hi All
Does anybody else got Wildfire S almost unusable after update to 2.3.5? UI is extremely laggy, animations (especially when using clocks with weather) are fragmented and you can see some rectangular overlays instead of pictures, keyboard blinks, so you can hardly type anything, etc., etc.
Factory reset doesn't solve the problem.
How did you install the update? Ruu or ota?
try this
factory reset
Download The ruu from shipped rom's thread
Then install through your PC.
If this is how you installed it already it may have just been an unlucky/bad flash, in which case try again.
It was OTA. But now it doesn't connect to PC - not in Sync or Drive modes...
Looks like HTC service is the only answer.

Depends on region and language required.
If you want English or European languages download the latest euro 2.13.*** it will remove operator bloatware too. But you will have to create a goldcard or you'll get error.
Check the stickies for tutorials.

If you have a HTC Wildfire S A510e (GSM) try to download the file with this name: RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H
It's on football's thread.
If you have error 131 while updating you need to create a goldcard in order to install that RUU.
This subject is more than covered in many threads.
If you want instructions on how to create a goldcard try to go here:
http://android.modaco.com/topic/305672-creating-a-goldcard/
Try to do some research first before picking a ROM at random.
There's lots of info here. Sometimes people are just too lazy to search...
Hi. I have rooted my Wildfire S and cannot get it to upgrade to 2.3.5 using the Phone-update. It shows a triangle with exclamation mark inside and hangs forever. Can only get out of hang by remove battery. Have asked HTC (not told root) but they can only tell me to format SD-card and factory reset. I will now try via PC and GoldCard made by my XTC-Clip. GoCom DK
I tried to update my phone from 1.33.401.2 to 2.13.401.2 with RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225747_signed.exe
I kept getting error 170.
Turned out i had to exit htc sync from the sys tray.

Hey dude, I registered just to help you out because I had a similar situation with my WFS.
After unlocking the bootloader through htcdev and rooting my phone I had the exact same problems - laggy menus, stuttering animations - all-around-crappy-phone-syndrome. But after I applied some android tweaks to the build.prop file, specifically tweaks from this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227269), my WFS was smooth as butter.
I applied the following:
Code:
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=150
You can find the build.prop file in the /system folder. Gotta be rooted to edit it though.
Let me know if it worked for you.
Anyone getting exclamatory point in triangle after you click install update and reset phone? If you know whats problem please help.

Hi,
I have the same problem, too. As I read through a lot of post. Look like the install package need to be read by the stock recovery. the CWD recovery can't not extract the install package. That's why it stuck there.
I'm currently looking for the stock recovery to do the job.
But I still not find any.
If you have any news on working this out. please let me know.
Thanks,

I have the same issue as the above. However, I tried unlocking the bootloader but was unsuccessful (Image not supported). Now I installed the OTA update and my phone's unusable.

Actually I gave it to support, so they uploaded "right" ROM (interesting why I got "wrong" one through OTA? Maybe because I bought it through internet shop and phone origin is some Polish operator, so maybe it was tweaked somewhere on the road? Hard to say...)
Now I'm thinking if next OTA should be tried or old one is just good enough...

Hello,
I've noticed that my volume buttons have pretty much stopped working. I don't think it's ROM related, I'm on tmcode's AOKP rc2 ROM and tried going back to CM10 stable and the problem was still there.
Sometimes they'll work randomly, but they're pretty much a write off it seems. My phone is under a year old purchased from Bell.
I've unlocked, rooted the phone, flashed CWM and have flashed numerous ROMS.
I'd like to try and see if they'll give me a replacement, or fix it or whatever before I get a new phone, which most certainly won't be an LG phone, too bad about the Nexus 4...
What's the easiest way to bring the phone back to a stock state? Do you think if I just flash Bell's ICS ROM it'll be enough?
Thanks
you haven't given us much info... my p930 works fine (edit spelling) on cm10 stable... if yours still aren't working i'm guessing one of two things.
1. maybe your rom flashing procedure is lacking... ? are you doing proper data wipes before flashing new roms?
2. did you jolt your phone? if you smashed your phone from the side the volume buttons are on its easily the contacts could have been damaged.
either way i think if your flash count is that high your warranty is probably useless, unless there is some way to hide all those custom roms you flashed but there isn't as far as i know.
you can only hope your problem can be fixed by doing a proper wipe... just another thought... have you tried restoring a backup from CWM from before you experienced the problem? this should confirm weather it is a hardware or software issue.

What do you mean "flash count is that high?" I mean, if they really care about that, just update through the LG updater tool and they would never know you've been flashing all sorts of custom ROMs.. Which, if you think it MIGHT be a software problem, that might not hurt anyway; but I doubt it's software related..

I see what you're talking about now. From what I can tell, it's on Samsung devices; I can't find any other references to it on any other brand... not saying that it isn't on anything else, but Samsung appears to not like people having full control of their device.
I don't think it's a software issue, I'm pretty sure it's hardware.
I know to do a full wipe when flashing between different ROMs.
My phones been dropped a couple times, nothing drastic though, that could have done it maybe. I've got a TPU (sp?) case on the phone.
What is the easiest way to bring the phone back to a stock state? LG GB/ICS ROM, un-rooted?
Thanks again

You can try running the official LG update tool; I'm not sure if that will work without doing anything else... I KNOW it works if you flash v18f and then update with the official software. Basically, run through steps 1-5 of this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044645 and instead of doing anything after all that, just start the official update software and update to Official ICS.
" just start the official update software and update to Official ICS."
I'm using the Bell phone unlocked on Rogers, will I still be able to update to the official ICS ROM?

http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-P930#manuals
B2CAppsetup.exe is the app you'll need.
pretty sure by official lg update software he's talking about the tool you run on your pc that autoupdates your phone.
http://www.lg.com/ca_en/support/mobile-support
is where you would find the tool, i'm not 100% positive on this more like 99% if you want confirmation you should wait for him to verify, but i know this is the official lg update tool.
---------- Post added at 06:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:35 PM ----------
if you blocked the lg site from your hosts file like the (*edit* un) bricking guide tells you to, you'll have to remove that line from your hosts file (127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com) and flushdns in order to communicate with the lg servers again. just in case you run into this, i'll try to have your answer posted before you can ask the question
to flush dns open the run prompt, type cmd, hit enter, type ipconfig /flushdns
you should get a success message this has refreshed your dns and you should be able to communicate with csmg.lgmobile.com again.
---------- Post added at 06:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:37 PM ----------
as per your 2nd question, i'm pretty sure you'll end up with A T&T but im not positive. however the at&t software will work if you enter your carriers APN settings, if you didn't write them down you can get them with a simple google search, go into mobile network settings on your phone select apn, then push the menu button and push new, then enter all your apn settings and your data should connect in a jiffy.

Yeah, the official update tool. That's the one I'm talking about; both links end up going to the same program - B2CAppSetup.exe
Good point on the hosts file, that's pretty important.
thank you just trying to him this guy get his phone going
Alright, once I find a cheapo phone to use while my Nitro HD / Optimus LTE is being repaired, I'll give this a go.
I just want to bring it back to stock state to remove root so they won't deny my warranty.
I remembered after I posted about the "B2CAppSetup.exe " program on LG's site.
My hosts file is untoched, I'm on a new install of Windows 8, I un-bricked a few months ago.
Thanks again for all the help.
I can't really, reliably, enter recovery any more...
I might try flashing the v20f Bell ROM via ROM manager and then try unrooting with super one click.
I do still have the first CWM backup I made of the stock GB ROM as well that I could restore maybe in ROM manager.
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda app-developers app
So I flashed the original GB CWM / Nandroid backup I had made, then I tried un-rooting with SuperOneClick, but for some reason it wouldn't work.
So I used the LG software and updated to the official ICS release, Bell version, and the now the phone is un-rooted.
Time to send it off to hopefully get fixed.. what are the chances that I'll get my actual handset back? I've unlocked it, I'm betting I don't get mine back, but a locked one...
Thanks again for all the help
first of all you dont want yours back, the volume button issue is probably hardware, unless you flashed the wrong rom or a corrupted wrong or something. secondly if you updated to stock ics, your phone is already has a relocked bootloader, you should be so lucky as to get a brand new phone that you can unbrick in an hour...
*edit* unless there is some new security they are putting on the new ones but i haven't heard of such, it has always seemed to me they only implement security to the point where it will stop an unknowledgeable person from breaking the phone. the amount of software "leaks" suggest to me they don't really care if people that know what they are doing mod the phones. having said that they still won't replace a phone they know has been modded, for valid reasons, they shouldn't be responsible for things they didn't do to the phone.
So I got my handset back and the volume buttons have been fixed.
To get root and CWM recovery back is it easiest to just follow an unbrick guide?
Hello guys,
I have a problem with my Galaxy Google Nexus GT-I9250 ! Of course, the update for 4.3 JB came up on my phone. When I pressed the button to install it, after a few second the installation stopped. It said : "Installation aborted" and then "Signature Verification Failed" . I tried to search through the other forums and threads, but as I`m a kind of a newbie with that technology I would be really pleased if someone explain me how to fix that, maybe, silly problem.
Oh, and also what is this thing named OTA.zip ?
Thanks.
It's exactlly the same thing that's happening to me
I opened a new thread but didn't include that detail, but it cant update.

depends on if you changed something else. if you just have root, no. but if you installed busybox, i know it modifies some system files

In a short answer, yes. The OTA update needs to verify that the software on your phone matches what it needs to update. This is why you will get a "signature verification failed" message. If you phone is encrypted, the OTA updater will not be able to verify that software. Decrypt your phone, once complete goto settings - about phone - system updates and retry to download and install the OTA update.
---------- Post added at 10:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:38 AM ----------
Let's keep this simple guys... If you want the OTA update to work properly and reliably you must be completely stock. No root, no mods, no encryption, no nothing! Most people having issues with the OTA not working fail to mention some little mod they installed making them not "completely stock".

Sounds like it's failing because your ROM isn't stock enough. Unlocking can remove some default apps as well, which can break it. There are plenty of people that have experienced this, a search should dig up the information you're after.

Thanks for tip. I tried uninstalling "HTC speak" but still getting problem. Where can I install Mobile active fix?
Thanks again.
Install Xposed installer and install the framework. You can find guides about it all over the desire eye forum. Then open the installed app i.e Xposed Installer. Go to downloads and search MobileRadioActiveFix. Download and install it. Then go back to main menu. Go to framework and reboot device from the framework.

Is your phone rooted? have you been able to flash a custom ROM by now?
I'm rooted and I'm using mini's ICE 2.0.0 MM rom
I'm also using Mini's kernel 3.4.0
And didn't get any bug yet apart from nfc not working on this rom

Did you try running any hardware diagnostics? If not try that and see what it says.

As for Unable to install apps, try this:
Setting --> Security --> Unknown sources, and tick it

My phone is still not rooted as I'm unable to work out how to do it. I try and unlock bootloader but cannot manually enable OEM unlocking in Developer options. I can see Developer options but no OEM unlocking. Do I need to do this?

Hey Folks
I have a slight issue, I had a rooted HTC 10(UK EE) phone running firmware 1.80.91.1, which I wanted to update so I flashed a back-up from TWRP to restore OTA functionality, however, this backup was corrupted and the phone got stuck in a boot loop with no OS, hurrah!
I've sorted that however, by locating a TWRP backup of 1.21.91.4, which was the only one I could find for the CID EVE__001, this file was just a boot and sys.img no recovery, now I still can't get OTA updates as I'm getting the file system is corrupted error when trying to download the updates.
So I've hunted and hunted either to find a full back-up, recovery or RUU that will work with my CID as I'm S-on, I have had no luck, so I can no longer get updates for the phone.
So, does anyone have a stock recovery they could upload for either 1.21.91.4, or even better a full back-up of any of the x.xx.91.x firmware? I've been tearing my hair out trying to find anything above 1.21.91.4 and even that was just a partially back up.
Any help is muchly appreciated.
Hi, I am om EE uk but my CID is HTC__001.
I HAVE A FULL BACKUP DONE IN TWRP, WHICH YOU CAN HAVE. I WILL SORT IT OUT AND SEND YOU A LINK. DONT KNOW IF IT WILL WORK BECAUSE OF DIFFERENT CID, BUT YOU CAN GIVE IT A GO.
GIVE ME A DAY OR SO.
Sorry to resurrect the thread, @si86 I've having trouble restoring radio signal on my HTC 10 after flashing an incorrect ROM, I'm on EE also- I'd really appreciate a copy of your TWRP backup to try on my handset if you are able to supply, would be very appreciated! I'm able to change the CID to match, having been through them all recently! My bootloader is unlocked and I'm S-Off. Thanks.
@Tuesg Were you able to rectify your situation?

I've just hunted high and low to try and figure out why nothing will flash successfully to my HTC 10.
turns out to be this same issue, I'm showing as CID - EVE_001 on an MID 2PS62000
Any chance you could send me that link as well so that I can at least try and get the phone back to a usable state instead of being stuck in either bootloader, download or recovery.
My phone is Bootloader unlocked, but still S-On as I hadn't got that far yet.
Will i need to flash a stock recovery? and lock the bootloader again to get this to install properly?
It's really proving tricky as hell.
I got caught out a bit here as I was half way to using sunshine to s_off, and then I accidentally triggered an OTA update to Nougat 7.0.......
It never restarted properly after that and i've been unable to get it back to 6 or any other ROM at all as they all fail.
I managed to fix it, but only by switching to s-off and installing the EU edition software, I'm a tad concerned now though as I've yet to get the roll out of the 7.0 update, not sure if that's because of installing a different firmware or whether it hasn't been rolled out yet.
@si86 Many thanks for your assistance and sharing the files, I was unable to fix my phone after trying various avenues (100+hrs) so I swallowed my pride and went the insurance route, not worth spending more time on getting to work and I now have a rather nice device, yet unusable call/texts wise to play with alongside my nice shiny new one running 2.41.91.3 - I've rooted and S-off with sunshine, just trying to decide whether i'm going to play with some more custom ROMS again! Of course I am!
@Tuesg Kudos on fixing your issue!

You can usually do it straight from the SuperSU app itself.

Along with superuser usually comes with an app for configuring it, depending on how it was rooted. SuperSU is usually the most common although I much prefer magisk.
It will be obvious what it's called, either superuser, SuperSU, etc. SuperSU contains within it the ability to fully unroot.
If there's no app, and if it is a stock rom, and not a custom one, a factory reset will remove it. If not, you will probably need to either do some adb commands to remove it, or remove it using the recovery.

In short terms, yes that might work for banking apps but it won't work for future Android updates. You need a completely stock (untouched) system and SU changes that even if you choose to unroot via the application.
hi when i i tried that super user unoot it goes to Twrp bootloader and nothing in there says unroot or uninstall twrp bootloader

I've had that issue with both Viper and Maximus. Removing root doesnt seem to totally remove it, and certain apps still pick up ... something.
Going back to total stock condition is a huge pain in the unmentionables. Because quite a lot of phones don't actually have an RUU for thier CID (for instance mine, H3G__001) has no RUU. So complete stock, even from TWRP backup was never an option for me. Even though ROOT wasnt an issue, things like OTA problems persisted no matter what.
I had to S-OFF (worth it in general tbh) in order to go back to a complete stock condition using the HTC WWE version (HTC__001). In the end I just decided to stick with the ROM I have now, LeeDroid. It has the option to be installed without root from the get go, but these days I just use Magisk. It is so simple to hide from banking apps and even things like pokemon go, that it doesnt do any harm having root there.

Hi there,
I'm in the exact same spot as the guy above. I restored the backup he mentioned, but don't have the Recovery. Therefore my phone is telling me I need to enter decryption password and won't boot past it.
Would you be able to give me that backup too?
Thanks.
