Sorry if this has been asked already I cant seem to get the xda search to work on the chrome app. My IR remote seems to work only when I am a couple feet away. Call me crazy but shouldnt it work from 10 to 15 feet away? Whats the purpose of having a ir blaster if you need to get up to use it. Is it just my phone or is it a knowen problem and is there a fix?

You aren't kidding. I tried mine last night for the first time. I thought the codes were not in the phone for a damn LG tv and then
I went two feet in front of the tv and it finally found the code. My Galaxy S5 works from 20 plus feet away. This is pretty much useless if you ask me. Hopefully there is a software update that can boost the signal up or something like that. Has anyone tried another piece of software or app. I don't think it will help but hey its worth a try.

YES
Exact same thing happened to me. I was mad when I couldn't get it to work with my LG TV. Eventually I took the time to have it "learn" my remote and it still didn't work. At that point I started trying different angles and distances. It'll only work at a distance of 2 or so feet away, which makes it completely useless.
I really hope this can be fixed with a software update. It's embarrassing to admit, but I've had at least five phones with IR blasters before this one. All of them worked NO PROBLEM at every distance I tried. Two of the working ones were previous LG phones, so something is definitely wrong. (G2, GFlex)
If this is a hardware issue, this is going to be a mess. I think lots of people won't realize their phones are affected until they've had them for a while.
Fingers crossed that the power is being limited on the software/firmware side.
I've noticed that with my phone, it works best if I point my phone lower than I think it should be. Like the IR doesn't fire straight on.
Dumb question but are you guys pointing the top of the phone at the tv or the back of the phone? The ir blaster is on top of the phone. What's on the back is the ir laser for the focus

I don't know about others, but i'm aware of that. I mean I have to point the top of the phone at the TV, the go a little lower.

If we were pointing the back it wouldnt work at any distance. Im starting to think i got a defective ir blaster. No way can this be working properly. I tried what insanejester sugested and got a few extra feet away but it still cant go from my couch to my tv and thats only about ten feet away.
I just noticed this on mine and it SUX!!! I would be able to change the channel at my local bar 30 feet away with a s4
Works fine for me with about 15 feet distance, just had to learn the codes, because my box isn't predefined, but it works fine, just have to point the top of the phone straight to the box.

Confused
I'm not sure what all the fuss is about hehe, I have had my G3 for 4 weeks now, and I can confirm that my IR Blaster works great even at a range over 15ft. I'm able to turn off beamers from the back of a classroom (which isn't that far but it is a lot of fun ) As well as that I am able to turn on/off my tv from my couch, which is over 6metres away from the Television. Anyway I hope you guys find a solution fast because I can imagine it being a pain in the ass :#

This OP was from way back in july... I don't know if you noticed that or not.
The IR blaster seems to have gotten better over time for me, it just depends on your TV. I use it from ~15ft away on my Samsung TV just fine.
Ah sorry no I did not notice sorry for the inconvenience
The distance problem might be due to the case which blocks diff angles and limits the ir beam.
Ive noticed that with mine
I thought it might be the case as well but it wasn't. After my last update (tmobile) its working just fine.
Recently got an LG G3. Has anyone figured out how to improve it? I'm like 15 feet from my TV and it takes a miracle to get it to work. Where I used to live I was a lot closer to the TV and it worked fine

I have been sorely disappointed with the compass on my Nitro. When I got the phone and it was on 2.3.5, the compass was amazing. But, as time has gone on, it has become useless.
I've looked through several forums and contacted LG directly. LG offered to take it in for warranty repair but, because of my job, I can't be without a phone for the 10 days that it would take to have it sent in.
My question is: Has anybody found a successful solution to the bad compass?
I have tried it on ICS 4.0.3 Leak, Stock ICS 4.0.4, CM9, CM10, and ParanoidAndroid.

Go back to stock gingerbread and see if your compass works there. If not, sorry bud, nothin I can do to help you except say send it for warranty repair. I got mine back in a week.

I'm in the same boat, check out this thread over at the LG Forums:
http://support.lgforum.com/lg/topics/lg_nitro_hd_compass_doesnt_work
LG knows about the issue and suggests recalibration...But as you'll read that doesn't work for some people, or at least not for long (myself included) and someone even had a warranty replacement done and STILL had the same issues with the replacement!!

Interesting.
For me, it's not that the compass doesn't work at all, it's just usually inaccurate and slow to respond. For example, if you just rotate the phone slowly while flat on a table with a compass app open, "north" should be pointing the same direction the whole time. But it doesn't, it varies quite a bit, sometimes ridiculously far off depending on the direction the phone is pointing. I assume it's something to do with poor magnetic shielding or something.
The only thing that consistently works for me is drawing figure-8's, just like I had to do with my old Motorola Milestone.
1. Open compass application
2. Hold the phone above you, parallel to the ground, with the screen
3. Keeping the phone in the same relative position, wave your arm in large figure eights like you were painting the sky. (by "same relative position," I mean the phone stays parallel to the ground, screen skyward, and you swivel your hand while making the figure eights so that the phone doesn't swivel.
4.Make about six figure eights in a row without stopping. Try to keep the same path, phone orientation, etc. The bigger the figure eight, the better.
5. Bring the phone back down so you can see the screen. The compass needle should slowly swing to North, and then hold North - until you move. Repeat if necessary.
6. Repeat as necessary. I have to do it every time I want to use the compass
After my patiently waiting for the release of this awesome device I went to the Sprint store and got some hands on time...
When I got to the S-Note app and started writing the pen dropped out in the middle of the screen....
I went to two different stores and tried 3 different phones.... Was even threatened to have the fuzz called because I was trying to download a paint app to verify the issue
Anyone else notice this......

Just tried mine and no problems. I'm able to make lines all the way up and down and across. I made giant loops and it didn't drop once.
Thats cool...
I was sitting here thinking there has to be something simple that is causing it to drop out and the only thing that i have come up with is the stores security device on the back...
magnets can cause it to drop out. also there is a setting under the tab thingy on the s pen. turning it one way makes it more sensitive and turning it another less.

I just got back from a Sprint store to research the same thing. I figured it was the security tag also because it was the same on both display models.
Couldnt get one because, of course, they didnt have any in stock.
When I go back ill show them the issue and see if they will remove the tag to see..
No one else has had a problem yet other then those displays....

I also went to the sprint store to try out the GN2 and was thinking the exact same thing. The S pen definitely stopped working in the middle of the screen. felt like i had to press pretty hard to get it to register and the dot did not seem to be accurate in terms of where the tip of the pen was.
I have no problems using mine. I use it for draw something. works great!
I have been having a lot of problems with my new honey, namely in the signal department! I went through a whole thing with it right after activation...it worked, then didn't, then did...etc. A chat session, phone call, & 2 trip to the actual store (all in 1 day!) resulted in them doing a factory reset and sending me on my looney way. It seemed to have helped, for about a day and a half. Now it is dropping signal again! It seems to do so, sometimes, when I have the wifi on. But then sometimes not (I'm not sure if wifi is culprit or coincidence.)
The ATT store employees said I may have changed a setting (I'm sure I didn't as I don't know of any setting that would even cause that!) and also "explained" my signal will naturally fluctuate...(They think I am an idiot, obviously and of course the phone was working fine when I was there...duh!) They also gave me a new sim card.
I *really* want to love this phone! But I'm finding it frustratingly undependable. Texts won't send when I need them to. I'm not getting them either, always. Voice is hit or miss when it drops (sometimes it works, sometimes not.) I have ALSO noticed the signal is not as strong as my old beloved Cappy. That thing was a horse (and I'm thinking of going back to it if this new one doesn't wise up!) Seriously, $300 bucks for a brand new phone & it can't keep a proper signal?
Is it the radio? Is it the software (still 100% stock, unrooted)? Should I make them give me a new one? What if it doesn't work, either? Flashing it to fix the issue is fine for me, but I've been holding out for multi-view before I get flash-crazy. lol Not to mention I may have to return it so better to not mess with it [yet]. I'm very frustrated & tired of getting looked upon like I'm the typical woman idiot who is not as smart as her new smartphone!!! I am NOT imagining it!!!

Sounds like your antennae is shorting out or something like it wasn't soldered properly or the cable isn't secure. Would explain why WiFi affects it. I'd go there and demand a replacement and if they don't wanna budge your within 30 day no questions return. Then go to a diff store and get a new one. I really don't see it being a software issue.

Is it possible that whatever the problem was, it miraculously resolved itself? I had it drop signal two more times since this post, then nothing since. It's been working perfectly. I hate to keep it if it might arise again but I hate to return it if it was some weird fluke thing.
This may or may not be related to the above problem: has anyone noticed their reception is not as good as on a previous device? I had a Cappy and it always got great signal. I noticed this one is not as strong in the same places I previously visited with my old phone. Although admittedly, it seems to be improving. Does that even make sense or is even possible? Just like me, my phone has to be the goofball of the bunch!

Nope. I've done nothing because I'm having this returning debate. lol I'm itching to though!
This is classic "my car doesn't work so take it to the garage then it works fine and they will make fun of you" If I do return it what do I say? It is documented about my "troubles" as per the ATT phone rep. Though if I can't reproduce the problem they're just going to send me on my way, I'm afraid.

You spent enough money on the device, you should be absolutely happy with it, not apprehensive. If you wait past the return date, it's going to sit in the pit of your stomach for 20 months and ruin your enjoyment of it until you can upgrade again. Not worth it. Smile your brightest smile, walk into the store, very nicely tell them that you've had multiple issues and the AT&T phone reps said to go in and ask for an exchange. That's it. They're going to count on you being intimidated and going away. Smile, be nice, and don't be intimidated.
If they say you have to reproduce the problem, invite them to spend the day with you. The Note 2 is amazing and you shouldn't settle if you believe your hardware is having problems.

Yes. I have decided to take it in later today, as my 14 days is up on Friday. I hope they have stock of them. Anyhow...I have another question. If a phone is sitting still with no movement (and the weather is good, lol) will there be variations in signal strength? I get 3 bars with 4G showing, then it drops to one tiny bar. Sometimes the 4G disappears then reappears. The it will go back up to 4 bars. All in the course 5 minutes! I do realize signal will vary with movement but will it if your phone is just sitting there?
I am trying to experiment a little. I just realized/remembered that I had (uneventfully) dropped my phone (not hard, in-case) about the same time as my dropped signal problem pretty much resolved itself. So then I was like, hmm, maybe there IS something loose inside. I've tried gently shaking/jarring it here on my desk, coincidentally with the bars dropping back to just 1 as a result. But then again it may be coincidental as they are seeming to waiver A LOT. I just wondered if it is normal.
I never really stared at my old phone (Galaxy1) here at my desk but I'm almost positive it always had more than 1 bar at this same location and I never noticed it waiver like this one. But like I said I never had to make myself stare at it to check, either! lol Just wondering if someone knows a little more about cellphone signal 101 than me.
I have the issue of no 4G HSPA+ but I can get a strong LTE signal when in an LTE reception area. I'm wondering if you are in an LTE area and can get LTE? Where are you located?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I have noticed problems with my GN2 as well. Mine shows I have signal but my data stalls or doesn't seem to work as it should. I'm in an area where there shouldn't be any problems. Only seems to happen in non LTE areas. Whenever I have LTE signal this thing is blazing fast.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Update: Took the phone in. Basically, they had never heard of the issue with this phone. But...I walked away with a replacement. So far so good though I've had it only a few hours. The girl was very nice & explained even though I was borderline limit she would take care of me. I told her I received it Fri the 9th but she said they were basing the 14 days on the 7th! I said I didn't physically have it till the 9th! Jeeze. Moot point since she was going to take care of it anyhow but it just concerned me how (corporate) att could chop 2 days of my in-store return time!
So no, I'm not in LTE land, unfortunately. 3g H+ & E only though I can't complain about the coverage or speed. Good enough for me 4 sure.
The signal bars waivered quite a bit even while in the store. They said while some fluctuation is normal it shouldn't be as much as it was doing especially with the close proximity of the tower & good weather and especially while just sitting on the counter.
I downloaded the free app "No Signal Alert" from the Play Store. In just a few hours it recorded lost signal 4 times! (In a very good coverage area) [my first phone b4 the exchange] Consider using it if you want to see if you are losing signal like I was. Handy app!
Hopefully this is a good one. I know it sounds goofy but this phone seems to even move faster than the other. Weird. It will be interesting to hear if anyone else is having this problem. Maybe there was a bad batch of them or something? Like the Nexus I read about & their signal problems.

Haha im glad that they helped ya! No its not goofy or silly to think that one phones faster then another because no two phones are alike. The silicone chips are very different and performance can very greatly. I have a similar situation with mine. LTE will be working fine but then I notice that once I connect to my home wifi and then either leave my wifi range or turn off wifi the LTE icon will show in the status bar and it will show that it's sending and receiving data but Web pages will stall and never load, Play Store will timeout, and SpeedTest.net will start up but the needle will freeze about 1/8 of the way up indefinitely. I've toggled data at this point but it never fixes it, I have to restart the phone at which point LTE works perfectly but once I get back on my wifi the cycle will repeat, this has happened reliably for about the past week.
Do you all think I have a defective radio or am I missing something? I'm still within my return Window and will probably swap it Friday.

Sounds very similar to how mine is acting. I'm wondering if it is the ATT smart WiFi app causing the problem. Shows data incoming and outgoing but stalls.

That's exactly how it's acting for me. I just now disabled the AT&T Smart WiFi app and after a quick restart and toggle test there was no problems, but I'm not sure if the problem will only pop up after I've been on wifi for a while. I'm going to see if it keeps doing it tomorrow.

What I noticed today is that when this same issue happens, with 4G icon and wifi icon both active, it occurs after I manually check for a firmware update within the system settings. The 4G icon doesn't go away until I reset the phone.
Also I manually deleted the all the AT&T boat ware apps before this was happening so the smart wifi app is not causing this for me.

Weird, if you get the issue and don't have the Smart WiFi app then it must be something else and it was coincidence that it worked normal for me today. I've only checked for firmware once (when I first got my phone) so it must be something else causing it. I'm hoping the multi view firmware will also have a fix for it.

I have a very strange wifi/bluetooth problem that seemed to come out of nowhere and I think it may be hardware but I'm not too sure. When I format the system and install a new ROM everything works as it should for a little while but then within a few hours the software toggle switch grays out and wifi and or bluetooth don't respond. Bluetooth always seems to go out first but wifi follows soon after. I thought originally I had a corrupted driver or something but no matter how many different ROMS I try, going from gingerbread all the way to jelleybean and the phone always acts the same after a seemingly random amount of time. I don't know too much about how bluetooth/wifi drivers work so this may still be the issue.
Sometimes by toggling the various switches off/on a bunch wifi will go back on, and even more rarely bluetooth will work without a system format but it never stays working. If anyone knows what the problem may be I would appreciate some help or if you can point me to a component level diagram that would be helpful too. I have been looking around for a few weeks now with no luck. I never dropped the phone and it looks like I just pulled it out of the box. I did take it apart and look for loose connections and cold solder joints (I have quite a bit of experience at component level repair) but found nothing.
I did try to go back to stock GB with Odin and that was about the same, it worked for about a day and then the problems crept back up.
I thought for sure someone would have an answer.

I have a very similar issue but it only affects my Bluetooth. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I haven't been able to pin point it. I've done the exact same steps as you. I just chalked it up to it being a hardware issue since I got my S2 from a lady that ran over the phone with her car. I just replaced the glass. She knew it could be fixed but she wanted me to have a better phone. What a sweet old lady. ANYWHO, I would love to see some more input on this.

I switched to twrp and the problem isn't gone but it is better. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not but this seems like a positive step.

Now that the phone has been out for about half a year (1 month in the US), have any annoying/troubling issues been found?
For example, I was told by a manager at AT&T that some people who have the HTC One are complaining that the phone literally gets too hot to hold after "extended" video recording. They've only seen it with a few phones (owned by their salespeople), but it's been reported...
I've read both great and horrible reviews about the camera on the OGP, and I'm wondering if maybe LG is sourcing components from various vendors [something akin to TV manufacturers using display panels made by various manufacturers in models with the identical model number (AKA "the panel lottery")]. If that's correct, then maybe you get a good one and maybe you don't...but that's what I'm trying to find out.
I've read a few reviews/postings that some people had issues with battery life which turned out to be bad batteries. Anyone have that?
So, with that said, is there anything that seems to be out of sorts with the OGP?
The only issue I can find is the Wifi is junk.

Care to elaborate? I've not noticed any issues with mine.
It connects fine to both my routers, but will not sustain a stable data stream. It also seems far slower than it should be. Speedtest.net app runs about 2-3Mbps.
Sometimes, the test won't even complete, the Wifi will disconnect and reconnect.
It transfers fine for about 5 seconds or so. I just tried watching a free video on Google Play, and every 5 seconds the stream stalled. Web pages take forever to load, and forget about downloading a big app.
I guess I'll have to call AT&T, or visit a store. I paid full retail for this thing.
Edit: My routers are both a little bit older, a Belkin F5D7230-4 WirelessG and a Netgear WGR614V9, but I've never had this type of issue with any other device.
Edit2: I rebooted everything in sight, including (but not limited to) my routers, my cable modem, my switches, my WHS and the OG Pro. Seems to be more stable now, but still a little slow, around 2Mbps downstream.
There's only two issues with the thing, it's too good, and it's only on AT&T.
Seriously, there are a few niggling things.
1. The QSlide bar takes up too much space in the notification shade. Luckily, once you root, there's a fix around here somewhere for it.
2. The side buttons are very VERY shallow, to the point where even if you put on a SKIN the buttons are hard to feel and even get to. Still figuring out what to do about that one.
3. Not enough accessories. This is a very real consequence of it only being available on AT&T here, it's just not going to be as popular with the accessory makers as the Galaxy S4 and HTC One, which are pretty much available on every carrier.

my WiFi works great and I get a good range. I would look into getting a new router,I had this issue last year with all my Samsung phones once I got a we router things worked out great, Remember tech has a short life span you have to upgrade at times to keep everything on par.

It blasts my ears off with headphones, but I can easily crank my head unit to max and it's not anywhere near as loud of my NoteII was. I should be able to compensate by adjusting my gains, though.
Clipped voice commands in navigation
I read in another thread that at least 2 users were having issues with the voice commands during navigation. Their issue is that when the OGP speaks a navigation command, the audio stops in mid sentence. The last few words (or parts of the words) are clipped off. Example: instead of "turn left in 4 miles", they are getting, "turn left in 4 m", or instead of "proceed through the roundabout", they get "proceed through the roun".
Is anyone else having this issue? I'd be curious also if your phone is not having the issue.
My email client crashes every time I try to open an email. Used to work. Tried clearing data still crashes. Only problem so far.

Wonder if it's just my particular unit somehow. Now I'll have to research adjustments that could make a difference.
Thanks.

It could also be your headphones. I'm using a pair of Samsung OEM S3/NoteII headphones (all the controls work correctly).
When I mentioned adjustments, I meant to the amps in my truck, where 90% of my listening takes place.
I posted above about some users getting clipped voice instructions with navigation. I have not tried that yet but i found another voice issue. I don't know if it is due to an app or the phone. Using an NFC app (NFC Task Launcher), i have it set to read the time aloud when i tap an NFC tag to set my alarm. When it reads the time, it clips off the minutes and only reads the hours. For example, if i set the time for 11:30, all it says is "eleven", and cuts off the "thirty". Anyone else having voice issues?
Only actual issue I have is with the search feature in the contacts. When typing a name, it seems to reset or clear out the search field when you type more than 3 characters.
Anyone else seeing this?
Other than that, I love this phone. (I don't consider the slow progress on unlocking the bootloader to be an issue. The DEVs will crack this thing shortly. (They do have lives.)

This phone is so far so good. The only thing I find uncomfortable is that when you exit your favorites tab from your phone app either by back or home button, and then when you hit phone again, it always brings you to the dial tab. It's kinda annoying since I never had that happen to me before on other phones.
