Hi!
I have a Tab 3 8" that was referbished. I'm about out of my 90 day warranty. I've noticed a break-up or flicker of the image, mostly bottom 1/3rd of screen. some times full screen. I can't replicate it by twisting the screen. It happens infrequently, but I have not determined any factors that can cause it.
Anyone else experience this?
This is not a backlight flicker, it is image based.
Thanks
ax
I had a similar problem with my old phone after flashing so many different firmwares like a nutter, but I never worked out if the problem was software or hardware?!

Got a similar problem with the tab 3 7". But it might be backlight flickering here. Its always the whole screen that flickers. I can sometimes reproduce it in low light situations (at night) if I turn automatic brightness on.

Have you tried odining back to stock to see if that works?

I did not send it back for warranty. I think it is Cyanogen mod. I see it most often just after a large jpg draws in. usually bottom quarter. Have not tried another rom yet.

Have you tried flash the Blackhawk kernel 2.1? I solved this problem doing this or I think this was my solution

I got a problem with my DHD after rooting. The softbuttons light up all the time, even with the screen off. When I go to sleep and wake up next morning they are still on. Rooted with Visionary and s-off. Tried different ROMs with no luck. Also tried to set all values to zero in cyanogenmod settings, but still no change:-\

Light sensor fail? How about auto brightness?
Tried with autobrightness off as well, but still no luck. Maybe I should try a different radio?

Noh I mean, does the screen lower brightness (a lot) when you got auto-brightness on?
Should be the proof that the light sensor is failing.
Otherwise... I really don't have any idea, if it's not rom-dependent... Dont think radio affects such stuff
Lol dude I didn't read that youre having the same issue even with screen turned off.. that's very weird Maybe you should call an exorcist.
The screen adjusts perfectly with autobrightness on so I guess that means the light sensor is ok.

Maybe dirt on the soft buttons - cleaned it ? Put a screen protection on it the same time ? Took out the battery for a while ? And btw. this is the wrong board for this. Your thread will surely go another way.
have you tried to flash a RUU? Imho it's the last resort to check if it's hardware or software related. (flash the 1.32 RUU cuz it's rootable)
I have now tried stock ruu, 2 different radios and 3 different roms. Still the same Guess it's hardware related then... I can see the button lights slightly dim when the screen turns off but they are still on and consuming battery as hell.
Holy ****e, i have the same problem! Anyone who could help us?!
Right so the best thing to do would be to install the RUU, put Eng-s-on and upgrade to the latest official software. That notificiation only appears if you have Eng-s-on. Then you should get in touch with your network or HTC for a replacement.
Not sure if this has been brought I tried looking a few pages back but didn't see anything. Anyone else having this problem with the screen flickering while its dimming ? I noticed it was doing this even on a stock ROM unrooted. Then I rooted and loaded a custom rom and it still does it. Does anyone else have this issue ?

It dims really slow and there is a flicker otherwise. Known thing.

Had the same problem, I did a factory data reset. It's a pain in the ass but it fixed the problem.
Good Luck.
Hi,
Recently, my XPS has been showing a strange thing with the back hw button (the left one).
I click on it, I feel the buzz but nothing happens. Only when I click anywhere on the screen it goes back. It happens in many different apps.
Have you noticed anything similar?
XPS stock ics .55 rooted
Without screen protector

It appears to be nothing but software glitch.
How about re-installing the phone's software ?
That would result in loss of root access though
I really don't feel like reinstalling anything before JB update.
In the meantime I've developed a new theory yet to be tested. Maybe this only happens when the phone is charging. Could be an electrostatic phenomena with the capacitive button... I will try to register the conditions every time it happens.

All right, that would be great.
I've tested on mine, it's working fine in every case.
It's a long time for JB. You can expect it at the end of April or in later month
It really seems that only happens when I'm charging the phone...

From about a week, I have noticed my s4 lagging. I have a S-View like cover, so whenever I close it, the screen doesn't go to the black and doesn't show me all the details, instead it stays like that for 5 seconds then goes to the S-View screen. Then I noticed, sometimes when I try to put my phone on vibrate, I press the volume down all the way and the phone goes to vibrate, but the volume slider comes after about 6 seconds. Anyone else experiencing this too? Thanks.

Ya well could it be from the ridiculous amount of ram thats taken ...heck it used to be that 2g of ram was unheard of then the s3 got it, now its common on all phones almost. .. yet the s4 of the 1.78gigs avail we only get to use 0 .78g. I swear unless im seeing things crooked every time I clear my ram, it still shows a gig used and a 0.78g available. ..Now the s3 and N2 all are around 600mb used of 1.78 available. To me I think ram plays a big part with lag issues, and the s4 o.s is evidentally a fully packed and loaded o.s

At first i thought it was just the Samsung OS that was causing such lag, so i installed CM10.1 only to find out that it is pretty much the same. There is something weird with the GS4 and stuttering when animations happen or just overall lagginess.
I too get this lag sometimes. It's very comparable to what I was experiencing on touchwiz with my s3. Switching to aosp (tried a few different roms) made it run much smoother, especially without all the bloat and background processes running.
I'm sure once development for these phones pick up we will see more changes to the performance of this phone. I think more ram would help, but for what we have, debloating would be my best suggestion on touch wiz.
Also, I use nova launcher which is pretty light and maybe it's just me but I have less of that lag now.

So, i love my note 3, so far. I rooted and installed Ds rom and l love it. Everything works perfectly, except for one thing my display is auto brightness itself!! I have auto brightness off, I have dynamic mode checked, and smart screen setting turn off.
Every time I start to play need of speed most wanted, it starts to auto bright itself!! :banghead:
Check out download the game and see if it happens to you!

It happens on mine too. It's a Touchwiz thing because it also happened on my S4. But once I installed CM10 on it that issue went away. I know it's annoying.

Theres nothing you can do about it , its a feature in the kernel called brite and it happened on the S4 also. A dev is gonna have to make a kernel with it disabled. Its there so when the phone gets warm or hot it dims the screen automatically until phone cools back down and then full brightness comes back. There have been a couple threads on this already and i even took my first Note back and exchanged it and the second one does it too. Its software related hopefully samsung will release an update to take this feature out

Yeah i unchecked everything and anything that had to do with auto-brightness and it seems to happen less now. Its just annoying i think its also in there to help preserve battery life but i bought this phone for the big bright screen hopefully a DEV will fix it with a custom stock kernel

I think that's good news about my phone. I thought my was defective or something like that...
I did try lux and a brighter note apps, to see if that would fix the issue, but it didn't.

Yep it's normal. Nothing you can do except keep the temp under 90F. LOL I went crazy trying to figure it out myself. Once the temp gets over 90 for me, it starts auto dimming even with everything disabled for auto-screen brightness.
