Softbuttons light stays on and eat up battery! - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got a problem with my DHD after rooting. The softbuttons light up all the time, even with the screen off. When I go to sleep and wake up next morning they are still on. Rooted with Visionary and s-off. Tried different ROMs with no luck. Also tried to set all values to zero in cyanogenmod settings, but still no change:-\

Light sensor fail? How about auto brightness?

Tried with autobrightness off as well, but still no luck. Maybe I should try a different radio?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

Noh I mean, does the screen lower brightness (a lot) when you got auto-brightness on?
Should be the proof that the light sensor is failing.
Otherwise... I really don't have any idea, if it's not rom-dependent... Dont think radio affects such stuff

Lol dude I didn't read that youre having the same issue even with screen turned off.. that's very weird Maybe you should call an exorcist.

The screen adjusts perfectly with autobrightness on so I guess that means the light sensor is ok.

Did you tried wiping cache, system, data and boot, including deleting dalvik cache?

Maybe dirt on the soft buttons - cleaned it ? Put a screen protection on it the same time ? Took out the battery for a while ? And btw. this is the wrong board for this. Your thread will surely go another way.

have you tried to flash a RUU? Imho it's the last resort to check if it's hardware or software related. (flash the 1.32 RUU cuz it's rootable)

I have now tried stock ruu, 2 different radios and 3 different roms. Still the same Guess it's hardware related then... I can see the button lights slightly dim when the screen turns off but they are still on and consuming battery as hell.

Holy ****e, i have the same problem! Anyone who could help us?!

Right so the best thing to do would be to install the RUU, put Eng-s-on and upgrade to the latest official software. That notificiation only appears if you have Eng-s-on. Then you should get in touch with your network or HTC for a replacement.

Cm7 blank screen and no response

Hi all,
I tried cm7 and switched to leedroid because I had problems with answering and making calls (black screen when phone rings, no way to interact with it).
Anyone else had this issue and knows how to solve it?
It's Bravo device.
Cheers,
J.

Do you control the cpu speed in any way?
If yes make sure you have at least 245Mhz when screen is off.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
No, I do not...unless CM guys coded it in their ROM. This problem happens on plain installation without any tweaking afterward.
Anyone? Come one guys!
Are you in CM7 Hboot ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Did u do a full wipe before flashing cm7? Did u install the recommended radio for cm7?

Nope, Brovo sense Hboot.
Everything else works perfect...only wnen receiving calls and sometimes when making calls screen goes blank, notification bar visible but not responsive, buttons lit, but unresponsive. All of that for 30 sec or so...
Both when receiving a call or when making one this behavior is completelly random as I could have figured it out.

Yes and Yes
Followed the instructions by CM team. Also, as mentioned in previous post, this behavior is random. 10% of outgoing calls and 40% in incoming calls. Another thing: happens only when locked, or when locked during calls by proximity sensor.
Cheers,
J.
In that case do you use a screenprotector?

I have the black screen issue. Just done a full reflash again. I get the black screen on a lot apps actually but its very random.
I think it might be due to s2e app that is used for ext3 partition.
Black screen
Ive been getting this alot lately too. My phone rings and it shows who calling but no sliders, or completely black screen with just notification bar. If I swipe where it would be though it still answers. Also when im in settings nothing but the notification bar, but if I tap the screen it brings up what ever option would have been there. getting kind of annoying.

oxygen rom problem

2 days ago i flashed oxygen 2.3.2. today, when i pressed power button to wake, screen wont turn on, but buttons appear to light. i restarted the phone after removing the battery and problem appears again after a while. before i installed this tom i did a full wipe & dalvik cache. how to fix this?
Check the thread. Maybe too low CPU Frequencies.
Had that exact same issue with 2.2.2.
I havent used oxygen but does it have a special screen off/on animation? I read on the CM7 thread that the animation can cause that issue so if that is the case it is reccommended to turn it off on CM7, maybe there is a similar option in oxygen?
I think not

Disabling animations will disable this screen on/off animation.

Desire shuts down at 20%

I'm using CronMod-bravo/bravoc and phone is shutting down at 20%... Is there any way fixing this? When I charge battery after shutting down, and charge it at 5,6,7,8% and disconnect charger it doesn't shut down... Why is that? Is there any fix for this?
check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765609&highlight=battery+calibration
its also working on the desire
Another daily thread? Think last week about three popped up.

Well, i used Battery Calibration app, and wiped battery stats in Recovery but no use... Will try this link.
It's app and I have tried few of them and they didn't help... So this one won't either
Trust me, it worked for me, i also had this issue.
Just get the app and follow this instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9583271&postcount=340
OK. I'm going to try this. Tnx man!
After you succesfully calibrated your battery, keep your Battery Age in Mind! Cause everytime you charge your Phone when turned off, it will be set to the default 94% and the problem occurs again. then just go in the app to LearnPrep tap and enter your Battery Age again!

I think you have memory buildup in your battery....probably getting old. Replacing it may help.....

[Q] No sensors working after reboot.

Hi, Im currently on the stock JB with a CID 001. My problem is that once I flash a rom none of my sensors work, after a few times holding the power button for a reboot they will start to work again. Im able to calibrate the G sensor in settings while they work but if I turn off my phone they will stop working.
This started happening after I updated to JB, I have tried using ARHD and Maximus with no difference. Each time I flash a rom they work but after they phone turns off they stop working, not just a few its all of them.
Any suiggestions please?
Just in the middle of updating my hboot to 1.39 so hopefully this helps
EDIT: after re flashing with maXimus 11 and hboot 1.39 the sensors didn't work. I restarted the phone holding the power button but that didn't help, done it again only holding the up button when the htc screen appearing when rebooting.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Also im going to install the two OTA updates here and see if the sensors will still work after these.
Installed the first update and the sensors stopped working and then installed the second and they started working again. I think once I turn off the phone I won't be able to get them to work again. Sorry about all the posts but I'm trying to give as much information as possible.

My phone ran out of battery there for the first time since I flashed the rom so was the first time the phone has been rebooted since the updates. Now the sensors have stopped working again. I have tried rebooting several times, Killing all tasks using the task manager then rebooting but nothing. The only way to get them going again is to re flash the rom. Any help please?

I lost my gyro/compass/orientation at one point a few months ago... I tried several full wipes and different ROMs, nothing changed. However, what did fix 'em was when I relocked and flashed a stock O2 RUU to return it via my operator. Its been fine since.
So your saying the only thing to do is to send the phone back to O2 for a replacement? I opened my phone so I take it that's my warranty void anyways? But suppose I could always try. Thanks, also just compared my loud speaker to my brother phone and mine is awful compared to his

No, sorry - I didn't send it back to O2, I flashed the RUU with the intent of doing so and that's what fixed it! Sorry for being confusing!
System problem, don't mention that.Flash another rom .That will be fixed.

I have already tried the European standard ruu along with maximus and arhd so unless I try the branded O2 stock rom. I will do this tomorrow. Thanks

If flashing an actual o2 RUU didn't work (I was a bit confused by your previous posts as you can't flash an unbranded RUU on a branded handset...) If that didn't work then its a hardware fault. Or at least a software fault that can't be fixed without the software they use in an hTC service centre.
My phone isn't branded but I got it of O2. I might just re lock it and send it back as I don't seem to be getting anywhere with this. Thanks for all your help but.

So after I rebooted my phone tonight all my sensors have started to work. I don't know what's happening here at all and I don't want to reboot or let my battery die incase they stop working again. I also noticed compared to my brothers one x his screen is alot brighter than mine?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
So I flashed the stock RUU and sent it away for repair and they just sent it back saying there was physical damage, Im assuming this is just that I have opened the phone. So there still isnt any sensors working, any ideas please?
I am experiencing the same problem with the sensors... still didnt find a permanent solution. I rebooted like 100 times, eventually they worked, then after a reboot they didnt.
I came across this topic, maybe it will help

[Q] Desire hd - flickering screen

Hi,
I have a problem with my desire hd...
My device seems to have lost all screen quality from one moment to another... i left the phone in my room for a couple of hours and when i came back it was CRAZY :silly:...
the colors are always changing and the resolution is very poor...
The device is functioning perfectly except that...
I tried to take screen shots but when i put the images in my PC they look fine....
when i see photos on the phone the image sill flicks, change color and has a bad resolution....
I once had a similar problem on my laptop and it was just a bad connected plug from the screen...
do you think its a hardware or software problem? does anyone knows how to fix it?
Sorry for the long post
Hey
What ROM ya running buddy? Rooted?
Can you provide that info please.
Seem smore like a harware problem

Seing as your screen shots are fine it's not going to be s Rom fault, more likely a faulty interconector between the motherboard and the screen
