I rooted the phone last night, but made no other changes. The wifi works at home, but not at work. I have tried restarting the phone, turning wifi off and back on, turning airplane mode on and back off, I verified the password with IT, and I verified other devices can connect. When I try, it will display "saved, secured with WPA/WPA2" for 10-15 seconds, and then it changes to "disabled". I can't restart the router, since it's not mine. Are there any other steps that I can take to remedy this?
I know this thread is very old, but this is the exact situation I am in.
Have you had any luck @AmnDucky ??

I don't remember, unfortunately. I am 2-3 phones past my M8 at this point, so those details are gone. I don't remember the problem persisting for any extended length of time (I didn't actually remember the problem existing to be honest), so I have to assume that there is a solution. Whether it fixed itself, or I did something though, I don't know. Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck.

Just saying you have the same problem, is not going to get your problem fixed. If you want any real help, please provide details on exactly what you did (step by step, files names, be specific as possible).
Also, do fastboot getvar all, if you know how. Delete IMEI and serial number before posting.
You probably need to update your firmware.

Guys, I am having this problem of random rebooting. I first thought it was random but then noticed that whatever ROM I use, this reboot happens when network signal is lost.
Now i read every thread and discussion google could give me on this problem but cant seem to figure out how this happens. I wanted to substantiate my find, hence ran logcat for few hours. Now i cant seem to understand what it means.
Can anyone please take a look at the attached text file or reason out how and why this happens. Is there a pattern I am missing?. All i notice is that my phone vibrates in my pocket after an hour when it is preparing the SD card after a reboot. Thats it
Thanks in advance.

OK I found that defy is rebooting on no network and I was able to replicate the same situation. Is there any fix to this issue. Can anyone look into the code and tell me a tweak where the phone reboots because there is very less or no signal. It happens even if phone is kept in 2G/3G/Automatic.
Here is similar thread in motorola support forums
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/40973?start=0&tstart=5
Have noticed posts about this -- and in fact it's not restricted to Defy by any means, though overall not that common. Even the Nokia N8 forums occasionally mention the problem. The most successful cure seems to be swapping out the SIM. This does not appear to work for everyone, but generally people are so imprecise on forums it's really hard to know if they just pulled a SIM from another phone (so, being as old or even older than the one they were using), or used a new one. So, if you have not already, I would get a new SIM, "approved" by your carrier and try it. Otherwise I would return the phone.
Thanks mate. Yes I read a lot about sim being changed but no where did I see it being solved. I have spoken to motorola support and plan to send it next week. Anyway I will change the type of sim once to see if it makes a difference. I hate my phone being ripped open here because I have very less confidence in these authorised centres who deal with every damn phone.
Thanks again.
Well, I thought I'd let you guys know, my defy went to the official motorola service, now, before someone starts posting "room full of people who cares" pics, I'll tell you what where it's symptoms and maybe you can tell me if any had any similar issues.
A little background:
I'm in Argentina, and I got my defy from "Personal" ( that's the carrier) which has a 2.2.1 rom ( if I'm not wrong )
I used it for a bit and it was working so well that I didn't feel the need to mess with it.
Then, I started missing some stuff and I decided to install CM7 (rc1, v2), to see how it performed.
All good, for a while, but then, the following started happening:
- 5~8 times out of ten, sms's wouldn't go out ( and I had to re-send them until they did )
- I got delays on getting messages, and on other people receiving them.
- Sometimes I wouldn't get to answer a call, just got a "missed call notification SMS"
- Sometimes calls would drop when answering them
- FM radio started being CRAP, and getting either stuck on, or wouldn't turn on after being interrupted by other notifications.
- frecuent freezing .
I guessed it was CM7, so, deceided to get back to stock, and maybe rooting, just for kicks.
I went back to stock, but the problems kept happening.
And that's why I sent it to service.
Anyone got any similar issues?
I wounder if you had forgot ‘full wipe’?
This sounds like an intermittent connection somewhere in the phone hardware.

lol, of course I did wipe, I didn't got into GREAT detail of everything i did because it would be WAY to boring, but, I did tried a lot of stuff before sending it back.
I kind of know my way around android, but I don't blame you for asking, I've seen a lot of uninformed posts around here ( nothing wrong with that, not everyone has time, the patience, or the interest to spend HOURS figuring stuff out, and learning about android )

Yup, I also thought it could be either a SEVERE overage problem ( like a signal black hole in my apartment) , or a defective sim card , but I'm using my old HTC G1 for now, and it's working great, so, both of those are out.
Maybe ,your phone’s baceband does not fit for the sevice, download some app to change the baseband.
Many peope have the same problem reflected by forum in my conutry as far as i know. Most of them solve the problem by changing baceband.
(My english is so bad...but I really want to help you.)

If the baseband was incorrect, it wouldn't get signal at all.
Plus, the phone was bought in argentina, so the argentina stock rom for the carrier HAS the right baseband, and I still got issues.
I have no other explanation for it than faulty hardware.
Thanks, though, I know you're trying to help ; )
Please help me? I am by no means a developer, just a wanna be nerd with a new phone. I'm looking for pattern lock reset help ~ I've not forgotten it, simply want to change it, and while it seems like something that would be simple and obvious, it is currently not presenting itself that way and I'm more than a little frustrated with myself (and it).
Meanwhile, the first two weeks the phone seemed just fine (apart from not playing with Planet anymore, though that seems worked out now, though I'm not at all certain). Now, I'm getting a lot of security issues cropping up that seem disturbing. Verizon tech support tells me that Kitkat 4.3 has known issues in this arena that they hope will be corrected in the next update. There is a constant message about my network traffic, email, etc may be monitored by an unknown third party and to check my security certificates. Did that ~ cleared them all, but that only helped for about 10 minutes. The phone insists that it cannot get a secure connection to Facebook, so I am too wary to do much of anything online with it. Seems to defeat the purpose of even having the phone. I'm seriously considering switching back to my last smartphone and turning this one off (I do not believe that I can return it).
I'm so sorry to ramble on so, but is it insane to ask if the M8 can be pushed back to an older version of Android?!?!?
Thank you so very much for ANY help at all.
Change pattern: settings, security, click on Screen lock and enter your current pattern. Click Screen Lock again to enter a new one, then repeat to confirm, and you're done.
For the second part I have no solution I'm afraid.

"He" is a she... and I am not looking to hack anything at all. I am simply too daft to change my own security pattern. As I stated clearly, I have not forgotten how to unlock my phone, I would simply like to change it, and while this should be a simple and obvious task, it appears to be eluding me at present... (though I am, somehow, adept enough to have already tried the obvious tactic of "googling" the question before annoying those I presumed more clever than myself.
To the first response, I thank you for your kindness and patience, I will attempt your suggestion straight away.
Kind regards,

Have you tried following these "suggestions" ?
HOWTO Install a custom cert without "Your network could be monitored" message
How can I trust CAcert's root certificate?
Remove "Network May Be Monitored by an Unknown Third Party" in Android 4.4 KitKat
Maybe/Hopefully it'll sort out your second problem in regards to the Trusted Credentials.
Anyone htat ever needs to reset their lock if they have forgotten it or get locked out somehow, Here is my backdoor mod I created specifically for this type of situation You may not need it now but download it & save it so you will always have it with you when that time comes if it ever oes and chances are, it will!

Hello xda community!
I have a strange and serious problem: I can't connect to hidden WiFi's.
I'm with a LG G3 D855 10H (no newer versions available).
At work we use a hidden WiFi without password but with Juniper VPN.
When I type in the network name and save it, it tries one time to connect, then my LG G3 shows "not in range". After a few seconds, the WiFi is on the top again with a very good signal.
When I try to connect again, it shows "not in range" again and so on.
I tried it at home and created a hidden network and it was reproducible.
Anyone else has problem with this?
Many thanks in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Jake

Now that is what you call a 'special' post!
Would you care to explain how it was resolved for the people that have the problem.
My problem still exists, but isn't urgent anymore.
I found out, Android itself have problems (or restrictions?) to hidden WiFi networks.
I also found an app names HiddenSSID Enabler, but it seems it didn't work for me (or G3?).
If someone has a solution it still would be very helpful fo rme and the rest of the community.

I have logs posted in my first post, WIFI DESTROYED TWICE or there abouts.
I've had to resort to DATA and its killing me haha i think i am getting close to fixing it, well i think i may be closer than you two and can one of you kindly take the lead as im reinstalling windows and i haven't gamed in 6 days :|
/system/etc/wifi/WCNSS_qcomcfg.ini
then the problem is complex but i am sure it is something to do with gEnableApProt=1
Offshoot fix, reinstall using googled imei number that doesn't have a flag or some how fix the flag <READ A FEW DAYS BACK>
I think actually the program that stuffed me was Airmon by maxters. It asked me if i was pro and of course, i said yes. Who would simply click no? I know a ninj wouldn't click no. I think there is a manual reinstall to link to it again i find the modem in its own partition having a chill, most likely trojan/backdoor and pwning everything around me.. I had three encrypted vpn backdoors and escalated accounts on my computer I paid the 5$ for the binarys, i think i paid 5$ for the back doors.
Not to sell Airmon out though.. Rooting our phones and accessing countless forums and websites really does leave us rather "xposed" some other cuplrits may be dsploit, ROM manager, linux Deploy/kali, Pamn IP scanner, system app remover pro, busybox pro's (Stephen/JRummy) or CMinstall/accessing the forums and trying to install cynagenmod / twrp recovery. I'm probably going to go with..... Airmon/Linuxdeploy or uninstalltool. But may have just been my IP logged and i hit a booby trap script along the way.
You guys done anything of the sort?

Neither I understand what you are talking about, nor am I (as not native english speaker) good at "sentence guessing".
I have a rooted phone - of course.
But I'm pretty sure my WiFi is not destroyed...
I don’t see this setting on my device. Any assistance would be appreciated where to find it or what needs to be done to get it.

Search works really well in the Settings menu. Type fingerprint and I bet you that you'll find it.
Nope, nothing under security and nothing when I searched. Must of got a lemon.

Oh that's definitely weird!!! I'd call google, or fastboot the factory image again if your bootloader unlocked
Googled it, not a common occurrence but it has happened on some Pixel smartphones. Recourse is return it and try another sine it is still in that window.
If not, it would have to be sent to google. They either fix it or send you a new device.

Did you try a factory reset? You would hate to send back and the problem is fixed but you get a new hardware issue on the replacement device.
Did it not allow you to set your fingerprint during the initial start setup?
Factory reset three times, did not help. It did not give me an option at startup to use fingerprint, only pin or password etc.
Anyone having this issue don’t beat yourself up trying to resolve. Return the Pixel and get a replacement. Next one I got after exchange was fine.
