Anyone knows where the save files for FF III are located on the phone? Thanks in advance.
***Update***
OK I finally got it working. So what I did was before I flashed to ICS I backed up all my apps with Titanium Backup Pro. I also backed up my entire SD Card with the actual Final Fantasy III game file. After I flashed to ICS I simply restored the Final Fantasy data and also restored the apk with Titanium Backup Pro and everything worked fine. All my save gave data was there. The Final Fantasy data file is located in SD/Android/obb. I only restored the game file not the zip file that I saw there too.
Also there is a "com.square_enix.android_googleplay.FFIII_GP-1.odex" file located in "/data/app" ***not on the SD card*** Make sure to delete the file before trying to restore the Final Fantasy III files with Titanium Backup Pro. If you don't delete it Titanium Backup Pro is just going to hang when you run the restore operation.
I don't use the same phone as you but I am trying to do the same thing, if possible with out Titanium Backup. I will move the files by them one by one and we will see how it goes.

I think this is the most important thing to me at the moment.
I was going to try it out on CWM10 and see if it runs at all. However seeing as I'm at the crystal palace I don't really want to lose my save game atm!
If you are rooted you can go to data/data/com.square_enix.android_googleplay.FFIII_GP/files/ and copy the save.bin file.
That is all you need to keep your progress. It has all 3 slots as well as the quick save in there. Just make sure when you copy it back to have the permissions set to rwxrwxr or rwxrwxrw.
You might want to backup the file from sdcard/android/obb as well, that way you don't have to download all of the data again.
If you need help with the game, there is a save editor on the forums here that me and kameo translated from Chinese. It will let you change jobs, exp, as well as your inventory.

I currently own a xperia pro, freshly rooted to finally extract my save game and export it to my new galaxy note II.
however, I look pretty everywhere and I'm unable to locate any of the save files.... only the 170 mb OBB files (wich is the game's data, but not the SAVED games I'm looking for)
I tried all the differents path you mentions, they are either EMPTY or NOT EXISTING.
can it be somewhere else? is there something I'm not doing properly? can someone please give me full complete step-by-step instruction in order to retrieve my savegoma and export it somewhere else?
btw, tried FILE MANAGER and ASTRO with both same results.
So all the tutorials I see say to use "menu>batch" to backup user apps/data, but there is NO BATCH!! I ran backup and it just put a bunch of gz/tar files in a directory!!! So now after I've already updated ROM to JB, TB is not allowing me to restore these files.....or am I missing how to do this?? Why is this app so damn hard to find stuff? Is there any way to restore my stuff or I will have to revert to nandroid backup and use TB again??
BTW, i'm on version 5.4.2.2 pro version

Click the icon in the upper-right with the check mark to get to batch operations.
And those tar.gz files are your backups.
The batch button is on the upper right corner.
And yes TB does compress the back ups.

Your question is a mess. Your thread title is "how to backup" and your jumbled post is about "how to restore".
In any case, whatever tutorials you're reading are outdated, as TiBu hasn't used a "batch" ever since the ICS version switched to using the Action Bar.
So, to simplify TiBu for you:
1) touch the the little checkmark icon the upperright corner of TiBu
2) Backup your apps and data; not system data
3) Restore later
Easy.
All the rest of the TiBu stuff is for people who aren't afraid to figure it out and/or read their FAQ (no offense)
So I've checked everything in the app.... including the mentioned "check mark" button before posting here. It is not showing any of my backup apps. I've gone into prefs and verified the backup/restore directory. When I go to that directory i see everything but when I go to batch upper right button none of the options show my apps. It only shows the NEW apps on the NEW rom and no options to restore my previous 33 user apps.
Am I missing something here or is it just not working

I did that and I already had the location correct /storage/sdcard0/TitaniumBackup ...... 48 backups.
When I do what you say and do "whole device" it reloads the TB app data. Then I go into batch options and it still doesn't show my backups...
Any ideas? I will try to get screenshots, i'm not sure how on JB yet
Clear data to set everything to default then set the backup directory again and restart the app (or the phone) This fixed it for me.

Its the first time that i've had a Samsung phone, coming from iPhone > HTC ONE X > SN2.
i havent put in a MicroSD card yet, as its on its way to me soon.
So i presume that all the app that i downloaded from play store is stored on the OS memory?
In this case how can i put my whatsapp backups to? so that it can detect it and restore accordingly?

Use titanium backup to backup the files. Install TB on your new device and backup one thing (a single one you want). This will create a titaniumbackup in your root of the sd card.
In your old device search for the same folder and copy all the files there. Paste the in the new folder created on ur n7100.
Now, if you launch TB you should see the backups there, simply restore first only app and after only data. Thats it.

Youre telling the Root way to the dude...he isnt rooted, or may not want to root.
@OP: you will have to put the backups to /sdcard/whatsapp/databases
And for sms backup and restore, there is an app SMS Backup and Restore from Market. You can use thay
My contact was on google accounts, so they came back with sync
For call logs, SMS and MMS, i use MyBackup PRO or Titanium Backup (very useful, but not a very friendly app and root needed)
For apps, i use again MyBackup PRO or Titanium Backup, but if the phone is not root, you can't restore apps setting along with the app. And even with root, some games setting can't be restored. It's the case with all my Gameloft Game, i restore game, setting and even the big game data folder, but when i start the game, it's an all new game that start
It's really a pity there is no standard backup and restore app in Android, and that you must root your phone to do such a useful task But yeah, Android is for geek

I searched the forums for a walkthru of setting up a new phone from the old one; if it's here somewhere and I missed it, feel free to just point me to it and I'll manage it from there.
So I'm just getting my new AT&T GS III probably today, replacing my stone-age Captivate. I've done a BIT of hack work on the Captivate, it's rooted etc with firmware v2.2, build Froyo.UCJI6. I've got Titanium Backup Pro v5.7.3 running currently. My question is regarding backing up and restoring my settings, market purchases, contacts, saved games (important!!), etc onto my new S III.
For backing up, is it simply a matter of running the batch "backup of all user apps + system data" on the Captivate (which I do weekly), then copying over all the backup files to my removable SD? As long as I run a backup of all apps/data so I just take the files with today's mod date? If I need them all, is there any easy way to batch copy ALL of the files to my SD rather than taking a half-hour to select/deselect the files I need on my tiny Captivate screen?
My bigger concern is that the restoration goes OK on the S III, as they have different versions of the OS. In the Titanium prefs, there are a TON of settings so I'm don't know what I need to focus on or if it's all set to 'auto-pilot' restore on a new phone. I assume I have to first root and then install Titanium on my new phone, just not sure what to do from there? (BTW, can I do a fully-functional restore on the free version of Titanium with my paid version backups? Or do I need to purchase it again on my new phone?)

I did the whole transfer-of-backups process when I got my current device, migrating over from an even more ancient device than your Captivate.
For the backup process, you could fairly easily tell TiBu to use the SD card for its backup storage - that would probably be the easiest way to get the backups in the right place for the move. Other than that, you could, for example, use ADB to pull the backups off of your phone, use one of the cloud storage services that TiBu Pro supports, or find a file manager app that lets you select everything readily (or even just the TiBu folder - one folder isn't that much of a stretch to move) and move it over to the card.
For the restore process, you want to be careful with exactly which system data settings you choose to restore, as - especially across major Android versions and across devices - restoring many of them will just confuse your device as opposed to doing anything useful. Most of the important things - such as your contacts (assuming you have it set to do that, which is the case by default) and market account purchases - aren't stored on the device, but associated with your Google account, so just logging back in with your account on the new phone will restore a lot of that information easily; in particular, this makes it extremely easy for TiBu to find its licence again (once it's on your device).

Don't backup system data with titanium, just the apps. I've had some luck backing up sms and WiFi passwords with titanium and restoring them on different roms, though you should use the xml backups (colored in yellow). Your contacts and market purchases should already be synced with your Google account, so if you use the same account on the new phone all of that data will follow.

Thanks for the reply! Do I at some point in the backup or restore process have the option for which system settings are restored?
Also, I'm not sure my contacts are backed up online, is that with my gmail account? I don't think I ever explicitly set that up but I do check gmail on my phone. How can I tell whether it's linked up and already backed up online?

When you select to restore in tb you will be given a list of apps/settings to restore. Un check any items that you don't want to restore before confirming the operation.

I've two questions
1. I've noticed that u can actually flash apps with a zip file. So if I put my personal apps into the rom folder after extracting them and recompress, is it possible that my apps will also get flashed along w the rom?
2. I've also noticed when u do a factory reset in the recovery, it only deletes cache and data. If I copy the data folder to my sdcard and paste to the orig directory after factory reset, is it possible that the data will get restored?
I'm not just curious. I think if this is possible, it'll be much dependable

1. Yes, put the app's APK under /data/app in your zip package (although I do think that you need to modify the updater-script a bit to make it actually flash the apps).
2. Depending on how you do it - you MUST keep ALL the files' and folders' permissions untouched (which is nearly impossible since there are just WAY too many of them), or when you simply copy back, the permissions will be messed up and you'll face continuous FCs. Better use apps like Titanium Backup or, if you're brave enough, try restoring only the /data partition from an existing nandroid backup.

Titanium Backup is the best way. The way you are doing it sounds like a lot of unnecessary work.
look for an app called zipme from author jrummy on the play store
I wrote some code a long while back that allows you to pack/encrypt and unpack/unencrypt your own android backups so that you can do your own partial backups and restores.

However, for the past 18 months, I have just used BackupPC to back up my android devices. BackupPC is a linux-based backup that allowd for automated backups with all types of options for incrementals & fulls. The backup files are pooled so that you can backup every day while requiring minimal extra space since only new files add to the poo size. It can use several different transport systems for the backup ranging from rsync to rsyncd to tar to ftp etc.
I use rsync (over ssh) since it is fast -- only the deltas need to be transported across the network when files change.
Basically, all you need to do is install ssh + rsync, modify the server side config file and then you get automatic backups at your own pre-determined frequency over wifi whenever your device is connected to the wifi network.
Now BackupPC is probably overkill for just backing up a droid -- since it is typically used to backup whole networks of linux, Mac, Windows, etc. pc's. But since I already use it to backup all my home computers, it was a cinch to modify the config file to also backup my droid devices.
I verified that it worked when my Gnexus broke and I was able to flash the replacement device which restored not just my apps and data but also all my settings.

I agree. The play store has a bunch of other ones too but I would go with Titanium.

I am using EaseBackup and I find it very good. Helium is another option but I found it buggy.
