Hi everyone
I recently own a galaxy tab s (the wifi model ) and I was wanting to do a Nandroid backup before to root my device.
The problem is than there is no software like CWM and TWRP who support it...
Does anyone know one who support the nandroid backup for the tab s ?
Thank you for your help

Assuming you don't have TWRP installed just download
: Google playstore app called "Flashify"
: download "openrecovery-twrp-2.1.1"
File from the link I provided
Open the Flashify app and grant it superuser rights, than tap "Recovery IMG" and tap choose a file and navigate to the file you downloaded and tap "yup"
You now have TWRP
If you have TWRP installed than boot to recovery and hit "backup" and it will do the rest (reboot system after backup is complete).
: I prefer the "dd" method
Also I would add in your thread name witch WiFi model (SM-T700)or
(SM-T800)or add a signature to the bottom of your page

Just like plugging in a usb thumb drive. Only thing is to make sure you have the latest samsung usb drivers, which you can get from their website. You can also back it up to dropbox via the app (downloadabe from Playstore) which has free 50gb of storage for galaxy tab users.

There are currently 2 major problems that the users are facing with Samsung Galaxy Y S5360.
1) Firmware Upgrade with KIES
2) SD Removed Unexpectedly
1)To Upgrade your Firmware with KIES successfully in One-Go:
Backup your phone, Remove your SD-Card and then start the upgrade process. SD card is not necessary to upgrade the phone and hence, it will not interfere with the KIES upgrade process since, i've experienced many times that when your Phone is in "MAss storage mode" when connected to KIES, the upgrade fails for unknown reasons.
I've tried this and it worked like a charm. Though, your internet connectivity should be stable to download around 123 MB of data without interruption.
2) To fix the SD Card problem
Backup all your data to your PC and format your SD Card with "Fat32" format from your PC.
Do the format before your do the upgrade so that your phone gets a fresh Fat32 formatted card after the firmware upgrade.
Both of this will fix most of the problems with your Samsung Galaxy S5360 problems.
PS : I don't see any section for this phone and that's why i'm making one.

Thank you for this. I am in China and just thought it was my phone that got the SDCard error. But, I have already updated firmware - so can I just reformat SD Card anyway?
Yep. Try it. Not sure if it works that way.

have anyone tried this?Clockworkmod recovery working ok?
I want to say that the SD moynt problem still exists even after updated to the latest rom and formatted the 2GB SD with FAT32 under PC W7 x64 system..But i see that even the mobile removes the SD, then it automatically finds it and applications are there, but overall this whole process makes the mobile struggle...
I hope that roms will come and fix issue and remove some ram as well

I have installed it, tried to make a full backup, while it gives a folder with files around 435mb at the end it gives and error message "can't mount /data", so i cannot be sure if the clockworkmod actually works...

I suggest using odin would be safe than using kies.

Yeah it somewhat works, can not mount, gets overwritten everytime.. so the hardware buttons don't work.
somewhat useless for recoveries as your phone needs to be working properly to do so.. Galaxy 5's port works too btw(similar way)..
what is mount?
It can load Clockworkmod from the ROM manager under Android, there is such option there, it reboots and after loads it.

Hi all,
I have been using the GNex V7.4 Toolkit to backup, unlock, root and upgrade my new Nexus. Very cool tool...
I have however been geting some weird error messages when I try to perform a full NANDROID backup, errors such as:
snip
Dumping Boot Partition
/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-07-16.2.09.57/boot.img: cannot open for write: No such file or directory
Compressing /cache folder to a tar file
su
tar -pcvf /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-07-16.2.09.57/cache.ext4.tar /cache
exit
exit
[email protected]:/ # su
backup/2012-07-16.2.09.57/cache.ext4.tar /cache <
tar: can't open '/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-07-16.2.09.57/cache.ext4.tar': No such file or directory
end snip
Looks like an SD Card permission problem of some sort.
As a result, I don't have a full NANDROID backup prior to doing a recent ROM upgrade to Darkpaladin's v2.1 - which I am really enjoying.
What I did do prior to the full wipe was a full backup of all apps, SD Card backup and Data folder backup.
Question 1 - Is there anything obvious aout what's going wrong with my NANDROID backup? I need to get this going in future anyway...
Restoring from the App and sdcard/media backups has been OK (altough I too have suffered from the problem with the Camera not being able to write to the virtual SD Card - you have to rename the DCIM folder and force the phone to recreate the DCIM folder then copy your pix back into it to work), but there is no option to restore the /data folder (and subfolders) from the backup tar file.
Question 2) Is this by design?
Question 3) Is there a relatively easy way to restore all my phone settings from the data tar file? To me it would seem I need to be in recovery to do this, to avoid file-lock issues that may occur when Android is running.
Thanks for any tips.
Cheers,
Martin.

I've got the same problem...
This was working fine before I received the OTA of JB.
I told it to reboot with insecure boot image, so I don't think it's that. I also have root and busybox installed and working.
I may know why... The toolkit creates a directory for example:
2012-07-21.18.44.47
and then the errors state it can't write to:
2012-07-21.18.48.01
Looks like it's maybe looking for the wrong directory name...
Did you get the problem sorted on your machine?
(same problem with 7.4 and 7.5 toolkit versions)
Luke
[edited for clarity of the error - and I'm not up the required number of posts to post in the GNex/dev thread.. ]
Follow up info:
I realized that this worked last time I was on my other computer, then I checked the version and it was 7.2 of the Toolkit.
The machine it worked on was windows XP + GNex Toolkit v7.2, when I was running 4.0.4.
It doesn't work on Windows 7 + GNext Toolkit 7.4 (or 7.5) running 4.1.1.
I suspect something may have changed in the toolkit between version 7.2 and 7.4.

Hi Luke,
Glad that I wasn't Robinson Crusoe and the only one having this problem.
Yes, I originally wanted to post this in the Dev thread, where it belongs, and where you re-posted it (thanks for that). I was amazed that this forum wouldn't let me post there, as I had insufficient posts. Bit of a bummer of a system, and sort of treats new members as children. I have 25 years in IT and know how to behave in forums, and to do my homework before I go asking new questions... Anyway, that's just a pet peeve of mine.
Back to the topic - I still have the problem on the latest versions of the Toolkit (7.7 and 7.8 exhibit this problem too), but the Nandroid works if I choose the option that leaves the backup tar file on my phone. If I do this, the backup works every time.
Can you test on yours and update the Dev thread with the results? Hopefully Mark will read it and respond.
Cheers - Martin.
Hello there,
I was trying to install CM10 on my A100 but I messed it up.
I got everything right till TWRP installation, then I accidentally delete everything on my device, CM10 rom included. Now the only thing accessible is TWRP.
I understand from other posts of the forum that it should be still possible to flash a ROM choosing Mount from the menu, but I can't work out how.
I click on the mount tab, and I connect it to my computer via USB. My linux system recognises the tablet as a multimedia player, but it does not allow me to copy files on it. Changing the status of mounting System, Data and Cache does not change the behaviour. The option mount SD card is not selectable.
I have got TWRP 2.2.0, and my A100 does not have external SD.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Do you have a microsd? Or twrp just won't see it. That would probably be the easiest option, load a ROM on the micro SD.
Did you make a backup first thing?
If your tab is in recovery, you should be able to use adb and push a ROM to the internal memory, but it is not recommended to flash from it. That's why I mentioned the microsd first.

Unfortunately not, no microSD slot. I do not even have a backup; in my clumsiness while I was following the procedure I skipped an entire paragraph and I jumped to the wiping section.
I will try to use ADB, I saw that there are few threads covering the procedure. Thanks for the tip, I'll be back with the results
Ok, all went well.
I followed the instructions in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929
with two minor corrections:
1 - as I did not have the /sdcard directory, I used the /data directory
2 - there was no need to add the ROM file name again after /data
thanks for help

Consider yourself lucky, that ROM has nothing to do with this device and would likely have killed it. Only use ROMs from the device forum of the device you're flashing. I mean go to the development section of the a100 and get a ROM there, not some random device ROM with a great name.

Hey everyone!
I have a AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II SGH-i317 build UCAMC3 rooted supersu running stock 4.1.2 and stock recovery. Basically all I've done is root it (using odin and an autoroot .zip from a guide I found) and everything works fine and no problems and imei is there and modems all working etc.
I've been trying to back up my efs file before flashing CWM and XenonHD11.1. I've tried TONS of methods and I haven't been able to get any of them to work. Methods include efs pro v1.9 and v2.0, using terminal emulator, and two or three different tool kits. Oh and I think one used odin if I remember right (maybe not, not important I guess). I've also looked for an app but haven't found one that supports my model. Anyone have a solution or suggestion?
More info:
I'm also having other issues that could very well be effecting my being able to use efs pro and tool kits to backup efs:: My Windows XP SP3 won't install drivers for my phone: Drivers downloads> drivers installs> phone connects (tried usb debug mode and normal)> driver install error "The required section was not found in INF". So EFS Pro (both versions) don't detect phone at all. Odin does detect it fine (weird). Toolkits don't detect phone at all.
Terminal Emulator doesn't find any files or directories that any guide that I've found says to use (weird?).
If rooted...
Use a root capable file explorer application. ..(root explorer app works great)...
Once inside the application. ..grant it root access. ..
Then enable R/W Access in the application setting at the top of the screen. ..
Then navigate to your EFS folder. ..
Long press the folder. ..and select "copy" from the drop down menu...
Then navigate to your SD card...
Hit the menu selection button at the top of the screen. ...and select "paste"...
Allow the file to copy. .then verify you have created a successful copy by backing out of the application and opening it again. ...and navigating to the SD card...
You should see the copy. ..
Warning. ..
Root access applications can be dangerous if you are unfamiliar with the layout or the ramifications of playing inside of protected system files. ..
Practice on a non critical file like a picture or music file first...before moving or copying anything critical. ..
Enjoy. ..g

Thank you! And thank you for the warning advice too! Great idea to practice! I haven't tried it yet but I'm going to soon when I get a chance. I ended up reading and finding out that doing a nandroid backup also backs up efs along with everything else and that cwm and twrp's backup makes a nandroid backup. So I chanced it and flashed cwm via Odin and everything was fine and I did a couple backups of stock rom and build and kernel and all and then flashed XenonHD with halo and I LOVE it! Thank you again!

sgh-i317 EFS seems like its gone
would it be posible to get a copy of the efs files.
out of nowhere it seems like the efs file just went missing. ive finally got to were i can look thru system files but its no wear to be found,
there not much i can do at this point that i know of, it seems like the efs files that are missing are keeping it from booting up. right now the only thing it will do is hang at the att logo, im on the mk6 with the knox counter. .but i cant figure out what els to do...
any advice would gratefully be appreciated and would be my hero.
Hi guys,
I am stuck with a problem related to rooting the phone, I have an unlocked bootloader but I cannot find the Magisk or Superuser.zip on my Internal or external USB OTG after booting into TWRP Recovery. I have tried wiping even cache and doing a factory reset but it didn't help. Any suggestions on how to make the zip files show up on internal or USB OTG. (I do not have an external sd card).

Sorry but there is no developer support for this phone because Huawei 'allegedly' bribed them with Honor View 10 and Honor 10, I tried to root it multiple times and everytime got into bootloop, hence got rid of the phone.
As a generic method (nothing specific to your phone), I have used 'ADB Sideload' to flash zip files, when in similar situation. In TWRP, goto Advance -> adb sideload. Connect phone to computer and issue command ' adb sideload <path-to-zip-file>'

This method works for all EMUI phones.

Thnx for all your replies guys :good:
No use of rooting this phone anymore no new roms mods ... And if you root few system apps will be removed like health app game suite tv contrall
Idk what im doing wrong here but none of the method seems to work, i do not get the time often to go after these things so maybe ill try my luck for rooting again someday, rooting used to be so easy back in the day. Seems like the method has been a bit difficult now or my skills have become a bit rusty. Anyways thanks guys, i'll post in a few days again if i am able to root. Thanks for all your suggestions.
