Wifi speed half of what it used to be (Ditto Note 3) - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before flashing DN3 I was on 4.3 and got ~24mbps/15mbps.
Now I hardly get 14/15. Seems the upload is not affected. The connection itself is 30/20 and I'm getting that speed on other devices (laptop, PC).
How would I go about fixing this issue?
Thanks!
EDIT: I now noticed that ping is also 10-15 higher than on other devices.

Well firstly the most obvious thing to do is to try and count out the rom as problem or identify it as the problem. Have you tried other roms yet or just assuming its the rom??
Flash back to previous rom see if you have same problem. Also try some others as well.
If it's only the DN3 rom then use the search box and search the DN3 thread and if you cant find any reports/discussions reply to the topic see if anybody knows issue/solution.

I've tried 4.4.2 stock and it was the same, however 4.3 is still about 20% faster and seems more stable...
Anything I can do to make it as fast as 4.3 while I'm on 4.4.2?

I used the baltic (SEB) firmware, but it was one flashable file, and I have no idea how to extract the modem from it. Kinda scared to brick the device, too, so I'd rather not do anything without guidance

I9505 or I9500. because we can only install roms from the i9505. if you happened to install i9500 rom, your lucky your not bricked. Also, if you went completely back to official stock and sound still doesnt work, your probably screwed. Of course this is assuming you flashed a i9500 rom like you said, not a i9505.
if you dont know which you flashed, post a link to the rom

ah, well im assuming you just flashed a stock rom, and didnt use odin to go completely stock without root or custom recovery. you should do that, theres an odin tar floating around in the forums somewhere you can use. of course by doing this you will have to root your device again.

Hi.I have a similar problem and I was not able to solve it, though, and asked the question here. Phone works fine, gps, internet, photo, plays video but no sound. If you just burned speaker headphones could work, but the phone just starts to hang when playing audio and call. Which module is responsible for the sound? Worth Stock Firmware
Hello, is there a 4 firmware file (service) for our ΠΌ919?I updated the (recovery) at its Mac through Kies, the sound still does not appear

Wooeesssss

It was perfect, a match made in heaven!
I had the Dirty Unicorn mod installed on my phone with all the modem drivers working, all my software configured. But.... it seems there were some old CWM backup files left on the SD card which were taking up a bunch of space. So i backed up my system and formatted the sd card, and when i reboot i got the "missing modem" problem, where nothing modem related works. After several attempts I was able to restore the ASOP rom and install the modem driver zip immediately after the rom in CWM recovery.
But i was missing all my settings and apps. So i thought hey, i got it to work, i should be able to run my restore again. Nope... screwed, and now i cannot even do the first fix. nothing is working.
o if any one has any tips, i would greatly appreciate it!
Tmobile T889
Running Dirty Unicorn ASOP 4.4.2 (was really loving this rom)
I am getting the "Signal Strength 2147483647 dBm 255asu" issue, and thus there is no connectivity.
My SD card is working

Why don't you try looking for your modem online. The phone should be able to flash the modem in recovery mode. Im assuming you have a tmobile note 2 so try looking for tmobile ntoe 2 modems. There is a forum post that has the modems on it.

Alright,
I just installed slimkat (it is 4.4 but only a 140 meg file) and the modem is still not working. Now it says 0db, and i tried flashing the modem.
I also switched to TWRP in case CW was the problem. But this did not work either.
the Tmobile stock version is over a gig, and here in the nether regions of the planet the connection is very slow. So ill have to go to town and have someone download it for me.
I can sing the praises of the DU mod all day long, it is pretty and super fast/smooth! Great mod features and hacks. It was working perfectly, but my SD card reported having only 2 gigs free, and after formatting it has 10 gigs free but no modem function
i cannot even run USSD codes!!!

Damn bro that sucks. I get fast good signal and lte so I would only take 20-30 minutes to download.
I would flash asop roms but I eventually switch back to touchwiz. Mostly due to the fact that I like using my headset and I need aifi calling for certain places. And the last 4.4 rom I had was omni rom but I would lose root. Dn3 rom is the best touchwiz rom but unfortunately no wifi calling
Try this link I just found it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2551748

Haha I dont think so bro. Odin should be able to fix it. As long as you havent ota update to 4.3 you should be fine. If you dont need wifi calling give DN3 rom a try. Just follow the post and it should go smooth. Just dont reboot and install mk7 modem. DN3 is cool because it has Note 3 features

ooh damn that sucks. Hopefully you get your phone fixed
Protip if you don't already do this: especially with frequent power outages or unreliable internet connections, check your MD5 or SHA1 checksums when you download ROMs before flashing them.
On Windows, you can use md5sum in Cygwin or Hashtab (which is a Windows Explorer extension that give you a tab in a file's properties). On Linux, most distros have the binaries included by default.

[Q] Frequent Mobile Data Drops on CM11 Nightly (Especially After Ending Phone Calls)

I have been using Cyanogenmod 11 Nightlies for my device for about as long as they have been out, so I know it is still a work in progress, and most of the issues I have faced have gone away as newer nightly builds have been released, so I have not reported any issues as of yet.
Within the last month or so, I have noticed a new issue. The mobile data has been randomly cutting out, allowing only emergency phone calls. It only goes out for about a minute or two, but it is still a huge inconvenience. It seems to happen randomly, except after I finish a phone call -- it almost always cuts out immediately after (very frustrating for when calls are dropped, because I need to wait a minute or two before I can call back).
Has anyone else experienced this or know of a fix? I just tried re-flashing the latest radio and that did not seem to help. I have also tried full system/data wipes as well and none of the Nightly builds for the last month or so have been able to fix it.
Thanks, everyone.

Is that even possible? I thought there were issues with going from 4.4.x back to 4.3?
Also, how would I go about locating the latest stock firmware and flashing it? I haven't even thought about touching stock since flashing CM.

I will take your word for it. But I have read elsewhere that the MJB bootloader makes it impossible to downgrade, which after checking, is the one that I have installed.
I have done the research on how to install stock firmware. I am just a little hesitant to do so. Any re-assurances would be great.

I actually did not use Odin at all. I was able to find a thread that posted a 4.1.1 stock .zip, a .zip to keep root, and a .zip to keep custom recovery. (I have tried searching for the thread to share with you but am unable to find it). I was definitely over-thinking it. Just install the .zips from TWRP or CWM as you would any other custom ROM -- just make sure you do not have the 4.3 bootloader installed. That's it.

Hi all,
I need help. I installed Carbon ROM on my rooted I9195, I was having problems with the phone dialler rebooting the phone so I have restored my original Samsung Firmware from a backup. But now I cannot download images from Whatsapp, backup files or install swiftkey etc. Appears that I still have Kitkat SD card restrictions even though I have gone back to Jellybean. Thanks for the reply. I tried to install the kitkat SD fix but it isn't compatible with my phone now I've re-installed Jellybean. I also tried editing the platform.xml file to add write permissions but that didn't work either. I would happily use a kitkat rom but every one I tried has problems with the dialer, can't hear anyone and then the phone reboots.

No, I restored it from a backup I made before I rooted my phone. I will try that. Thanks:good:
Annoyingly I can't download the original firmware. The only place I can find is rapid gator and it fails after about an hour. Any ideas where I can get the original firmware for my phone?
How difficult can it be to get an original firmware? I just can't get it to download from rapidgator and Samsung don't seem to have direct downloads. Stuck with a knakered phone.
@davidmlondon Did u try sammobile.com ? The official firmwares are hosted on their servers and offer good speeds. But need to create a free account to access firmware downloads. Alternatively you can try samsung-updates.com If i am right they provide 2 links for all roms and u can try any. Good luck.
BTW why do u wanf to return to jb? official kitkat is good enough.

Thanks. Will give that a go. I would rather use Kitkat but every ROM I try has the same problem with the dialer crashing and making the phone reboot. Sometimes people can hear me but I can't hear them and then the phone reboots. Sometimes it just freezes, makes a screeching noise and reboots. I also notice that the signal drops to nothing, which I think is related to the dialler crashing.

did u try different modems like cnf7, cne6, cnh5 and any other. Usually network related issues are due to modems. I see that you are from UK. As far as I can remember samsung did not seed kitkat to uk. So you need to flash firmware of country close to UK like france or germany. Also before and after flashing stock kitkat wipe data/factory reset. And after flashing verify if baseband/modem changed to new one. Good luck

No wifi
I love love love this ROM, it's incredibly fast, I've got the debloated version. But I have no wifi on it. The wifi stays off and when I try to turn it on it flips right back to off again. Any suggestions? I wiped, cache, dalvik, everything before and after and reinstalled once. Will reinstall again.
I'm using TWRP vs CWM-would that make a difference?

I had tried several, but wipe completely each time. It might've been one of the Lollipops right before. I wondered if it had anything to do with the kernal? I don't know much about that aspect of it.

Yes kernel controls hardware related things including wifi if I'm not mistaken. Which kernel are you using? The stock kernel included with the rom or a custom kernel?

I didn't ever specifically change kernels (if that's possible). I just installed 4 or 5 different ROMs over the course of the past few wks to see which I liked. I made back ups of my original stock/rooted ROM and several that I liked. I've got SlimKat ROM on here now, would it do any good for me to go into settings and see which kernel it is? Probably not, I suspect.

Ok no that's cool. Yes it's possible to change kernels, but since you didn't flash a different one that means you had the stock kernel (which is included with the rom and works fine). Just to be sure, you have the N5110 model, right?

Ok cool thanks. Really not sure what the wifi issue on your setup might be. Works fine here and for other users as far as I see. I did a quick Google searche and the top solutions seem to be a factory reset, the "wifi fixer" app in the Play Store, or possibly trying different settings/channels/reboot on your router. If nothing works, then it might be because something got corrupted in the base over time by flashing different TW/AOSP ROMs, in which case it might be worthwhile to Odin stock firmware from sammobile and then install this rom and test. Might be more hassle for you than it's worth (especially if your other ROMs already work fine), but just trying to provide options lol. You could also try Regular instead of Debloated to see if there is any difference in wifi for you there.

Might be more hassle for you than it's worth (especially if your other ROMs already work fine), but just trying to provide options lol. You could also try Regular instead of Debloated to see if there is any difference in wifi for you there.

I appreciate your input very much! I love this rom. I've got it installed again messing around with it while the Regular version is downloading. (I'm bestowed with slow rural internet). I'll let you know if Regular works better. It's probably going to bug me enough as to why it doesn't work that I'll go to the trouble of going back to stock, re-downloading and trying it fresh

Sounds good! Yeah it's a bit of a hassle but at least you have other roms to fall back on worst case, but i'll admit this is kinda bugging me too so if you get to the bottom of it please let me know . [emoji106] . Thanks again for the positive feedback btw, happy to hear the rom's working out (aside from your wifi)

Enable Android Encryption
Has anyone been able to successfully enable android encryption using this rom? I tried with the Deodexed version, safe boot, turning off SuperSU and haven't been able to get it to start encrypting properly. I need it since I have policy looking for encrypted state before I can allow mail to be made available.
Many thanks in advance!

Not sure... does it work fine on other rooted deodexed roms?
wifi won't turn on
Hi, I've flashed both the regular version and the debloated version on my N5110 after clean wipes.
The wifi will not turn on in either case.
I've done factory resets from within settings.
Any ideas?
I've read the thread, the Q&A thread, and done a google search to no avail....
I'm coming from stock 4.2.2 (rooted and unlocked of course) where everything worked... it just seemed to have a pretty short battery life.
I've reinstalled the nandroid backup and wifi still works there.
I'd really like to try this.
Thanks for your hard work as a developer by the way

Not sure...Works fine here but I saw another user report this a while back. The others said all working fine so I'm assuming something may have got corrupted on your setup along the way. Perhaps you can try using odin to flash the latest stock firmware for your device from sammobile.com, then try installing twrp through odin and finally my rom through twrp. Best way to eliminate variables and start fresh

Worked for me. Nice smooth Rom... thank you I hope this saves me from constant looping unrooted stock provided. Although battery life seems to still drain quickly. Any thoughts?
Edit to say im having a slight issue with the tablet shutting down on its own when not in use.

Thanks for confirming! Yes flashing different roms can corrupt system files so a fresh odin install is always a good way to start clean. No issues here with the tablet shutting down..could possibly be due to a rogue app conflicting with something or an xposed module. As for battery life I agree. Not worse than stock but not better either. The built-in battery is now also probably less efficient than it used to be, as they all do over time. Sammy should have put a bigger battery in this tablet!

I did a battery pull and that help a great deal with the battery life . Also I don't think I have had the issue of shutting down maybe the rom needed to settle in lol. I don't know but all is well now thank you so much for this rom. My tablet isn't trash anymore.

Hello sefrcoko
my Note N5110 currently has the stock fw 4.2.2.
Once I have root and custom recovery, can I directly flash your rom?
Or I have to flash the stock fw 4.4.2 before your rom?
Thanks a lot
Bye
