[Q] Camera Button Wake? - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Howdy.
I was wondering if this phone has the ability for the photo button to wake the device and go to the camera app without the need for a lockscreen?
Galaxy S4 Zoom can't do that for example.
Thank you!

Z1 Compact's camera button has two stages: a partial click to focus and a full click to take the picture. On stock ROM you can wake up the device and start camera app with a full click. On some AOSP-based ROMs you can partially click the camera button to wake the screen and fully click it to start the camera app.

[Q] RE: Camera shutter mod w/ power button

Has a mod been made for the camera to make the power button into the picture taking button? On my captivate it was like an essential mod put into roms.

Stock camera tweaks and mods

Are there any tweaks for camera in Galaxy Nexus running stock Jelly Bean to take pictures using the power button instead of the on screen button and use volume rocker to zoom in/out without loosing their functionality ie they act like shooter and zoom in/out buttons when in camera and when not using camera like power and volume rocker? And even if possible burst mode?

You can take pictures while recording by tapping the screen on video mode
Little search will give you results like this..

On the stock JellyBean nope there is not. Some ROMS do have the option to change it.
Or you can buy this small app from the PlayStore called Camera ICS + which allows you to change the Volume+/- functionnality.

But it completely changes power button to camera shooter. Can't I make it switch its functionality automatically when I'm in camera and when I'm not? So that I don't have to change it every time and also it reboots every time I change it. And what happens if I don't check the option to hot reboot after the changes are applied?

Thanks. I didn't notice it.
Guys is this possible or not, someone please help
only Rom I know is cm10 which has this option working fine. Other mod are either for vol buttons or do not work correctly.
Edit. Aokp nightly I'm trying now has same option

Camera no longer focuses and shoots in one tap?

I now have to press the camera button to take a photo instead of anywhere on the screen, have I messed a setting up?
Thanks

I guess there is 2 possible situations :
1. Long press on camera button will wake up the phone and launch camera app and then it could shoot in your pocket
2. Power button turns on the screen and by mistake activate camera shortcut in your pocket
I don't know if camera button action can be easily changed.
For the shortcut there is a xposed module called "Screen Tweaks" which can disable camera shortcut
I want to precise, that the camera does not only make one photo, but complete series of photos.

I don't have the Z1C (should arrive tomorrow), but can't you lock the screen to prevent this? Or I'm I misunderstanding something?

Even if the screen is locked, camera button can wake up the screen

Replacing stock camera app with gcam

I've downloaded the latest gcam port and it works great on my RN8, problem is I cannot launch it with any of the default shortcuts, double press on power or double vol down press.
I can make it the default camera app through MIUI but it has no bearing on launching it as default camera app so in effect making it the default app is pointless.
The lockscreen camera button doesn't lauch it eaither despite again being the default app?
Any ideas anyone, anyone, Bueller, Bueller....................??

Really, 190 odd views & nobody out there knows??
If you disable the stock cams app so it leaves gcam as the only camera app would it make any difference , Just guessing as i have a moto G7 power

MIUI explicitly calls the stock camera, even if GCam is set as default the stock camera (com.android.camera) will be started.
Your best bet is to install a custom AOSP based ROM.
