[App] NEW Play Store 3.9.16 !

What's New
The most notable and immediately apparent new feature is the long overdue ability to remove apps you've previously downloaded from the All Apps list. If you like to try a lot of apps, that list is likely very cluttered. With the new Google Play, you can trim it to your heart's content.

Uninstall your play store through tibu and then install new apk

done that,just says app not installed then i have to go back to recovery and re-install gapps,just tried again got same thing so still 0n 3.8.17,yet funny thing it worked on my s2

Only thing I can think is drop new play store in your gapps zip and flash.

lol,wouldnt know where to begin doing that

Make a backup before trying!
Anyways, you can try..
Goto system/app, rename play store apk (i always just add ".bac")
Reboot. Use a root explorer, rename new play store, drop it into system/app. Reboot again. Should be good
almost forgot, set permissions too. rw r r
^^^^that's how I updated to the new gmail
for the new market I believe, I just had to install it (overwrite)

You could just to wait, the update should be pushed out to everyone. Could be a few hours, or a day(s) but should be sometime soon..

Great thanks form this, I hate the fact it lets you remove purchased apps. I've lost several books because of my little brother clicking the 'remove from library' option, I now risk losing app purchases...

You're welcome. He always manages to con me into it, 'let me play asphalt' he says. Later I get my N7 back and my tablet's completely different to how I left it. He even knows how to buy apps, -.-

I just double checked with one of the 25p apps and they do get removed from the list but if you go to the app it still says install, that's a relief.

Of course it doesn't unauthorize you from it, it just removes it from the list. And protip: Market->Settings->Add a PIN, Enter PIN for Purchases. No more (potential) unauthorized purchases. In-App or from the market app.

[Q] Whatsapp Stuck on Initializing

I just reinstalled my whatsapp, but am stuck at Initializing..is there anyway to solve it?

yup...i did that..now the messages are coming but i can't view them, it's still in that initialization step

installed new ROM... now im stuck.
wiping cache, dalwik, program data, reinstalling, using whatsapp from market or even newer version from whatsapp.com.
Everytime same result.
Stuck on Initialising...
i restored older version with tit..ium backup than updated to new version and got it working. but now there are no contacts...
so It is possible there are problems with servers.

it seems that whatsapp server has been down...people who were installing whatsapp yesterday have been facing the stuck at initialization problem. hope whatsapp gets this fixed soon....

I am facing the same problems on my s3 its unable to initialize. I tried the whatsapp status account and the last status update on that twitter account (which is an auto prompt from the initialization window) says that their servers are down but this has been the case for over 12 hours now. Hope they solve it from their end.

Update:
I reinstalled my whatsapp just now and its working as usual again. Thanks to whatsapp devs! For those who are experiencing the same problem, try reinstalling again and i reassure you that the problem is now fixed :fingers-crossed::victory:

Disable Service helps you to disable services running in the background such as "push service" ,"upload service" or "pull ad service" and so on.

+ need root access.

Disable unnecesary services, i dont know what app you are using so i can't help you.

This app is one of my favorites. Damn it's so useful I couldn't imagine using my phone without this app :cyclops:

Choose an app and disable services like syncing or sending data..(you need to find the right service, you can find it in Setting>apps>running then press the app and see what service is running)

Yes! Be careful! if you disable evrything the app will not work

I can finally disable the Google Play Store Service, thank-you... would be great if it could auto re-enable a service when you open an app then auto disable a sevice when you close an app.

Nope, it disables services permamently. To make service work again you have to reenable it. Fortunatelly many apps can work with most of their services disabled.

There isn't much customization. Long press on home screen and select settings. Aside from that, you cannot do much.

Yeah, but then again, I'm just stock rooted.

I'll be sitting at the home screen and ads will pop up and open my chrome browser to the ads page. It will also tell me I have a virus. What is the deal? Please help!

I've had the exact same thing which I seem to have fixed.
Firstly turn off sync on chrome.
On your laptop and any other devices you use chrome on delete your history, cache and cookies.
Delete the same on your phone. Turn sync back on.
You should now be issue free, apparently there is malware that can target cookies so the above should work.
If you only have the issue on WiFi and not 3/4G then you should consider deleting your network settings on your phone found in settings. You may have an infected dns.
