Today Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 LTE has been released and i want to ask if it has GSM voice communication before i buy it.
Does anyone know about that?
GSMarena usually write "Tablet with support for GSM voice communication" but this one they didn't write anything about GSM voice communication.
gsm
In Italy came only the LTE version (exynos)
ther's the gsm call and also the video calling (GSM).
Have a look at italian's H D Blog and you can see it :good:

Hello,
I have Samsung Galaxy S II 4G for T-Mobile and I want to get it unlocked since I am travelling to India. I did check the list at http://unlockliberty.com for their unlock code. I was not able to find Samsung Galaxy S II 4G in that list. Can I select Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE and get the same unlock code? In case Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE is not correct, then which phone in that list can I select which is similar to Samsung Galaxy S II 4G for T-Mobile for unlocking?
Thanks so much.
SGSII Hercules (T989) is the TMobile/Telus version. They both have hspa+ radios which is not really 4G.
No they are not the same. LTE is a completely different type of hardware/software used to produce a signal from the towers. Best bet is to call Samsung or Tmobile (if you still use them) to produce the code for you. I used to work in tech support for T Mobile and the unlock code only takes about 24 hours to get to you. At least it never took any longer then that when I was working there. Good luck to you thought
Samsung S3 ATT CM10-20121204-NIGHTLY-d2att.
Reboot -- 4G LTE
Make Call -- 3G/h/H+
Reboot -- 4G LTE
Anyone with similar issue?
Where are you located and which carrier are you using?
It most likely due to lack of HD Voice (voice on LTE) support by the carrier. Rogers (in Canada) currently doesn't support HD voice, so it falls back to HSPA (3G) during the call and goes back to LTE.
I was hoping JB update (LK4) would support HD voice, but it doesn't, It seems to be same for iPhone 5 on Rogers.

Same in ATT . just be patiance after call you get back LTE in about min or so.
Really looking for a tablet that has the ability to make regular voice calls. I was interested in a xperia z ultra with its 6.4 " screen but would like something even bigger than that. I have read that voice calls are enabled in the tab pro and tab s series. Is this true? Obviously I would need a connected version. Are there any models that would work with my current Verizon sim? I am considering going tmobile if that is easier. I'm not sure why its so difficult to get a tablet with the capability to make phone calls. The Asus fonepad 7 interested me but the lack of high end specs dissapoints me. Does anyone have any suggestions? The 8.4 pro or tab s is the perfect size I think.
Run a search in the general thread on experience on T-mobile. If you get the international LTE version, it will supposedly work with voice on T-mobile with HSPA speed (no LTE available on US bands). Based on the bands, it would not work on Verizon that I am aware of. I do not believe a U.S. LTE version was ever released. Based on the 8.4 Tab S LTE (released on ATT), if they were to release a U.S. version, it would be without voice.

Oh, and don't forget to hit thanks if this is helpful.
Getting a google voice #, download hangouts and the hangouts dialer, then any Android device connected to the internet can make voice calls.
Here may be another stupid question, But Not even Samsung them selfs on the USA Department couldnt answer this, So let me explain a few things before I ask, so that you may understand what I may be talking about..
I have 2 Samsung galaxy S Tab's 10.5
One is 32gb Wifi Bought from Best Buy (T800)
The other is 16gb Wifi LTE International (T805) Unlocked.
From what I understand the International version will not support 4G on T-Mobile or most any carrier in USA do to the supported Signal.
What I want to know is, Whats the diffrents between the International and the Local USA version when it comes to the LTE. I cant find anything that tells me what I want to know.
From what I can see, is the signals ranges are the same as the USA version. but maybe I am reading it wrong,
When I check out the hardware with diffrent apps that support that. it pretty much shows the two being the same except for a few things that dont seem to matter.
So to make a long story short,, I just want to know what the diffrents is between the LTE Local USA and the LTE International version.

1. I believe the USA specific versions are voice crippled so you cannot make voice calls.
2. According to here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-Mobile_US#Radio_frequency_spectrum_chart
The frequencies supported by T-Mob USA for LTE are....
1700/2100 MHz LTE 4G In Service/Building out Covers 250 million POPs as of October, 2014
700 MHz Block A LTE 4G A-block rollout has begun, and several devices already support this frequency.
1900 MHz PCS LTE 4G In Service/Building out Primarily used for a quick rollout of rural LTE as sites contain a pre-existing GSM antenna
3. According to here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_S_10.5
The frequencies supported by the International 10.5 Tab S are
800/850/900/1800/2100/2600
As you can see the only 'common' frequency is the 2100 Mhz set which 'should' cover the bulk of Urban USA however there may be specific signalling that T-Mob require to allow devices to access that frequency.
Hope this helps
If you have LTE version you be able to call through google hangouts dialer. I do it on n7 LTE. And the app.

I want to thank you very much. I really did search around to try and understand. but when it comes to the carrier LTE stuff, I no nothing about it.
Yea T-Mobile told me the only plan they have for tablets are Data and no voice. that really sucks. I dont understand that one. I have an
LG G3 that has T-Mobile. I can use the hotspot on that if needed.. the chances that im going to leave my house with this Tablet are very slim. so I can just stay with the wifi.

What models of the Galaxy Tab S will have the voice phone calling, SMS, MMS capabilities?
I'm mainly interested in the 7-8" versions. Also not overly concerned about LTE bands mis-match.
Thanks

From what I understand non US cellular models. If I recall correctly this is t805 models. Wish we could get U.S. models this capability through system software, but I don5 think there is developer interest.

I agree. US cell providers have their head up you know where. I just tested my international version Galaxy Note Pro 12 12.2 as my car phone (2016 F-150 with Navdy HUD) and it worked fine (both directions). Now I just need to find a 7-8" international tablet and get rid of my AT&T branded version.
T705 is international 8.4" LTE version, it handles calls, sms and mms quite good, and doesn't even seem strange if you hold it as phone and speak, as it is slim and elegant
