Flashing KitKat in One V - HTC One V

i want to flash kitkat rom [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785779]....but i'am so confused !!!!
here is few question i have...
the steps to flash kitkat are same as other JB roms.....???
I have CWM recovery version 5.8.x and a friend told me that to flash kitkat you need CWM version 6.0 or 6.1. But one V does not have CWM 6 so wat should i do.....???
DO we have to create a partition of our SD card before flashing Kitkat ?? and we should not use CWM to create partition. (ignore this question if partition is not required)
i bricked my phone a month back while flashing...it took me three days to restore my device. Thats why i'am asking so many question.
It does not matter if the rom works or not. just want to make sure i do everything right from my side without damaging my handset again !!!

[Q] Restore to stock with own made cwm backup

I just bought my Gio in the Netherlands. I've rooted it and installed cwm 5.0.2.7 rfs+ext4. I made a backup with cwm so I have a backup of the stock ROM.
3 hours after I bought it I converted my rfs partition to ext4 to install CM7.2 this went well and installed cwm 5.0.2.7 ext4 only (so i can make backups of ext-sd (EXT4)).
My question is if I wanted to go back to the stock ROM how would I go about this ? I am thinking I should do it like this.
I believe I can't restore the backup I made with cwm initially of my stock ROM since I converted the phone partition to ext4. I would need to flash the stock ROM (download it online) with ODIN.
Root it and install cwm 5.0.2.7 rfs+ext4 and restore the backup I made of my stock ROM with cwm. Or is this step pointless and is the backup I made exactly the same as the stock ROM you download online (meaning there are no specific dutch modifications) ?
Tbh i'm quite happy how my phone is working now, I just want to try this so i'm confident I can go back to way it was.

oOze

You're right. Restoring a stock rom to a phone that hase ext4 filesystem partitions wont work. The Android OS wont start up. I did test it. Ik teste het
Installing a stock rom with Odin will make the internal system rfs again i did read.
I think installing cwm 5.0.2.7 rfs+ext4 even will make the file system rfs again? Not tested it. Would save 5 min. odin.
Happy testing
Ty for the quick replies.
I downloaded the ROM one that was suggested in the replies.
I had S5660XXKPE_S5660XXKPA_S5660XENKP1.rar I guess thats an older version.
And if you restore a stock rom via Odin, can you restore the CWM backup afterwards in order to regain your original settings and stuff ?
Or doesn't it work that way ?
Otherwise you could always do a full backup using Titanium of course...

I don't know I guess I will find out but if its the Dutch/Netherlands ROM you posted in the link I won't have to I guess.
I guess i'll have to use Titanium backup anyway since the backup I made with cwm is old already (or lose some data I don't have much I really want to keep now).

Btw: My firmware seems newer, it's from September 2011. It's not official Kies though. It's on SamMobile Firmware Page.

I have no ideea which one is newer. U can stay on that no problem Mine is "good" in case of warranty issues and u must bring phone back to where u buyed it , because u can`t bring the phone with another firmware on it other then the one u have in your country Netherlands
Yeah, your right about the warranty, but I sim-unlocked my prepaid phone myself, so I guess I'm out of warranty anyway
Or is there an option to relock too ?

I have no ideea if u can lock it back . Maybe if u did a backup of /dev/stl5 ( EFS ) folder before u started to modify it for the unlock process and restore it, then it would be locked again, but i am not sure about this never did it
An appropriate CSC file followed by a factory reset should relock.

help me root please

so i've got a one x unlocked no branding.i would like to give rooting a try but dont know what to do and what rom to pickcan anyone recommend me a rom?
After U´ve unlocked your device u have to flash a Custom Recovery first ----> Development section!
After that do a nandroid backup.... means: Enter the Recovery and do a backup.
Last step: choose a Rom... i`m using mike`s Android Revolution HD Rom cuz it looks Stock but runs much smoother.

yes, you need to find out your cid and main version using this command "fastboot getvar all", then you need to flash the stock recovery and stock odexed rom, relock bootloader and then you should be able to receive OTAs... look around for guides

Basically the phone will get update via OTA if it's on stock rom and stock recovery. Seem yours is not on stock rom.
My question is: how do you know there is an update when your phone is having trouble with "check for update" function?
Aldo, pls post the screenshot of "Software information" and Kernel information (click "More" inside Software information).

I asked just to make sure your phone is not on 4.2.2 and that you want ota 4.3 update.
Well, by the screenshot, you're on custom rom.
Now if you want stock 4.2.2 with sense 5 please do as follow:
1. Flash stock rom 4.2.2 (odexed) or nandroid
- Steps:
+ Identify your cid, and download stock rom or nandroid backup
+ Unlock bootloader (if locked)
+ Flash custom recovery (twrp, cwm..) and copy rom to phone memory (sd card)
+ Boot into recovery: Either flash stock rom or restore from nandroid backup file (remember to follow rom instruction carefully)
+ Reboot and there you go.
2. In case there is no 4.2.2 stock rom/nandroid but 4.1.1 only:
- Do same as above steps and your phone is now at stock rom 4.1.1
- Flash stock recovery (required)
- Reboot and check for OTA 4.2.2 update
- After OTA update, perform nandroid backup and save for future usage.
Report the result.
EDITTED:
Please make sure to backup your phone's data before proceeding as you might lost during rom flashing!

Nandroid

Hello,
normally I'm very experienced in android, but now I have a little question.
When I started flashing Android-Phones, we used to flash nandroid-backups to install roms on our Lg-Gt540, only after some time we used to flash zips, like today.
I'll flash omni-rom to a locked non-routed orginal P6-International, which belongs to a friend of mine.
Can I simply unlock the phone, install Twrp-Kitkat and flash a nandroid-backup of my phone to this ?
Normally Nandroid doesn't backup imei and vo, but how is it with the P6 ?
Thank you for your help

hello,
sure I'll have to flash the boot mj5 if you have not already installed and come 4.3.
mg1 is a modem, not a bootloader.
Steps you say are good for flash, keep the backups in the external sd card.
incuidos make full wipes and wipes internal sd car system and install from external sd card rom.
greetings and good luck

Don't flash bootloader first , back up your current rom and everything, make efs back up and such. Next you can either use latest Philz 6.26.6 or 6.41. Twrp use 2.7.0.2( whichever recovery you are comfortable with ). Do the wipes ( fully clean your internal memory ) If you need a guide on how to clean the phone using either of the recoveries click on my signature called JellyKat FAQ's you'll find the links to latest Recoveries as well as step by step instructions on how to flash bootloader and link to MJ5 bootloader ( it's a rar file , extract it and you'll get the .tar.md5 file and place that on Bootloader option in PC Odin). So after you've cleaned your phone flash the DN3 ROM let the phone boot up go through set up screen and such. Now your WiFi won't be working cause of old bootloader .so put your phone into download mods flash the new bootloader via PC Odin . Reboot and done. The only thing with MJ5 and other 4.3 bootloader is that you won't be able to charge your phone when powered off it reboots. If your warranty period is already over I suggest you flash the latest kitkat bootloader ND3 ( link to it is also in JellyKat FAQ - scroll to the bottom past version 5 and you'll find the newest bootloader). Only thing is that this is a Knoxed bootloader you can never go back to 4.1.2 only 4.4.2 or 4.3 ROMS would be possible . Good luck

Awesome! Enjoy the DN3 ROM and you can get in touch with me either by PM or by posting in DN3 ROM and mentioning my name (i hope you know how to do that?) if you don't here's how you do it type @ then right next to @ type my username singhpratik87 (no space between @ and singhpratik87) and post a comment. There are many people over at DN3 thread who would help you out incase i amnot able to get back to you soon .
