The red triangle is the stock recovery
You need a custom recovery both for rooting and flashing ROMs.
Sent from my IceCold One X
Flash a custom recovery first, then make a nandroid backup, then install a custom rom.
You can't do anything with the stock recovery
thnx for reply ... but if u plz can you tell me where is the custom recovery that i can flash and who will make my phone rooted ?

You better read up first before you start. You don't have a clue as far as i can see !
Learn fastboot/adb....and all the steps you need to take.....
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
Additionally you need superuser.zip that will root your phone, just Google for it.
Sent from my IceCold One X
And if you want to go straight to a custom rom you can safe yourself from doing the superuser thing. A custom rom is already rooted
Read up in here first please

it not a problem , its just your phone is rooted so this rom you running doesnt have that option , you will have to download a rom you need like 4.2.2 with sense 5 manually , and flash it from the recovery if you know what i mean, :good: remember to thanks

yes, you need to find out your cid and main version using this command "fastboot getvar all", then you need to flash the stock recovery and stock odexed rom, relock bootloader and then you should be able to receive OTAs... look around for guides

Basically the phone will get update via OTA if it's on stock rom and stock recovery. Seem yours is not on stock rom.
My question is: how do you know there is an update when your phone is having trouble with "check for update" function?
Aldo, pls post the screenshot of "Software information" and Kernel information (click "More" inside Software information).

I asked just to make sure your phone is not on 4.2.2 and that you want ota 4.3 update.
Well, by the screenshot, you're on custom rom.
Now if you want stock 4.2.2 with sense 5 please do as follow:
1. Flash stock rom 4.2.2 (odexed) or nandroid
- Steps:
+ Identify your cid, and download stock rom or nandroid backup
+ Unlock bootloader (if locked)
+ Flash custom recovery (twrp, cwm..) and copy rom to phone memory (sd card)
+ Boot into recovery: Either flash stock rom or restore from nandroid backup file (remember to follow rom instruction carefully)
+ Reboot and there you go.
2. In case there is no 4.2.2 stock rom/nandroid but 4.1.1 only:
- Do same as above steps and your phone is now at stock rom 4.1.1
- Flash stock recovery (required)
- Reboot and check for OTA 4.2.2 update
- After OTA update, perform nandroid backup and save for future usage.
Report the result.
EDITTED:
Please make sure to backup your phone's data before proceeding as you might lost during rom flashing!

i want to flash kitkat rom [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785779]....but i'am so confused !!!!
here is few question i have...
the steps to flash kitkat are same as other JB roms.....???
I have CWM recovery version 5.8.x and a friend told me that to flash kitkat you need CWM version 6.0 or 6.1. But one V does not have CWM 6 so wat should i do.....???
DO we have to create a partition of our SD card before flashing Kitkat ?? and we should not use CWM to create partition. (ignore this question if partition is not required)
i bricked my phone a month back while flashing...it took me three days to restore my device. Thats why i'am asking so many question.
It does not matter if the rom works or not. just want to make sure i do everything right from my side without damaging my handset again !!!

What do you mean latest stock ROM? Was there an OTA update and you updated that? Are you sure you didn't just install that one ROM in the original development section, because the touch is very laggy for it. And did you make a nandroid backup of the ROM you had previously? Also make sure you installed the ROM for your device (I think it would only make a difference if it was dual or single sim.)

If your referring to the SVHD ROM I heard this was a issue for a few people. The developer and a few other users stated using the ROM for about 30 minutes or "allowing it to settle" will clear that issue up.
You could also try to clear cache and dalvik after flashing the ROM so see if that improves the speed any.

Try installing a NANDROID backup of your device from the development section. That will restore the stock ROM for you. Make sure you get the right model.

Unrooting HTC Desire 820
Hey guys need urgent help!!! I have got an htc desire 820 and want to root it using TWRP. I did a lot of research and have a rough idea about nandroids and custom recoveries. Also i dont want any custom ROM. Just root access.Have a few questions.
1. I need to backup my stock ROM before rooting. Just in case something goes wrong. Is downloading the stock ROM from HTC website enough or do i need to do it from my phone using TWRP and transfer the file to my PC? Because after rooting(still on the same ROM...I'm assuming rooting with the superUser.zip file only gives me root access right?)the backup created through TWRP is still modified right? I mean if i flash that, my phone is still rooted right?
2. Before rooting my phone, i download the stock rom backup and save it on my PC. should i do any other safety measures?
3. If i want to get OTA update, copy that stock rom in twrp/backups and flash that and then flash stock recovery also. Then install OTA update i want to and again root by installing TWRP and flashing the same superuser file. Am i doing it right? or is there some other way of receving OTA updates for a rooted desire 820? Are there any other steps i need to do to get OTA updates?
I haven't yet rooted. So if you guys have any solution that changes the entire method of rooting like rooting without using TWRP is there, then that solution is also welcome. I hope i've made myself clear. Thanks in advance,

Where you will get stock ROM. I do not find single site for downloading HTC firmwares.
I agree with you that before doing any adventure, you should have stock rom available.
How to flash Stock Rom if you have rooted device? (from my experience of Galaxy Note 7000, I had to use Odin for flashing stock rom).

Good question. Never looked into that because everywhere it said downlaod stock firmware. I owned a samsung earlier. They provided stock ROMs in their website. Didn't find one for my device but it's there on the website for devices like htc desire 610. Just google it. Anyways i found a workaround for the OTA update. turns out you dont even need to have stock ROM!!! YAYYY!! u just need stock recovery and it will install OTA update. after updating, just install custom recovery again.
To answer your question, using a custom recovery like TWRP u can easily flash stock rom. (if you have the stock rom). Just put it under TWRp/backup. Go into recovery mode and select backup and click the file to flash!
