The Note II is certainly the (if not) best Android phone of 2012. I'm just wondering, does anyone know when the 32/64 GB versions of the Note II will be available. Currently there's only the 16GB version. Also, do you think the Note II will get a 2GHz stable overclock? I I'd like to think so. Thanks

Honestly why do you need that much space/speed ? Just stick a 32gb card in it. If you try to overclock it you'll just fry it and kill the battery and any warranty.

Because I choose to buy a 64GB version. I didn't ask which one I should get, I asked where I could find those versions. Anyway most high end Android phones can all be overclocked. Like One X or S III. People run them at 1.8GHz without issues.

Your storage space issue is for me the easiest to answer. I am an extensive user of audio books. The teaching company series, Will Durant's seminal 12 volume series, podcasts, science fiction audio... Asimov, Huxley, Clarke, current fiction, "Why the West Rules for Now" (i highly recommend by the way) is how i keep sane on morning and evening commutes. I have a 16gb g-note and a 64gb SD card and i use all of this storage. Samsung's release of a new 128gb SD card will be none to soon, and if it cannot be utilized on my current note, it will most likely spur me to buy the note 2 with 2 GB ram and 64 GB SD internal. I also can access and stream from my collection on my home server but my at&t "unlimited" isn't, so i use WiFi whenever possible. This means that i use the phones memory as a cache buffer to limit my telecoms' leverage. Concerning speed. I am currently testing an incredible voice control app called Utter. Extremely flexible, configurable and powerful. Coupled with Ivona voice the results are simply stunning. I am also running a custom JellyBean rom called slimbean that is half the size of ice cream, is overclocked at 1.8 ghz and is as smooth as a baby's butt. I've been overclocking and flashing roms since i joined xda, its why i joined xda. I understand your credulity, we do still call these devices phones after all. i am also aware that my setup and usage is not typical, yet it is just this flexibility of android and current Samsung products that make them so attractive people like us with such differing needs and views.
..........................................................................
To the Op, i am keeping my eye out for the larger 32/64 internal storage versions and will let you know if i stumble on a release date reference. Thanks for starting this thread

Every time someone responds to a person who asks about when a model with a larger storage will be out with the "you don't need that much" line, or something like that, they should get an infraction.

3 strike policy, and you're out of XDA, haha
First time i heard the "you don't need that much.... " line was when i opted for a 10MB hard drive for my then new spanking hot PC AT. It had a 16bit processor and 512kb of ram...my buddy had the
commodore 64 (64 KB of ram and a cassette based memory). Despite his lack of technical sense, we remain friends to this day. Unsurprisingly, he favors that other phone ecosystem....the glass jewelry ones with those little screens. He still freaks out when he sees my note. His first words? Yeah, you guessed it; " you don't need that much..." I notice his wife checking it out though... So maybe there is some justice in this life

You only get to see the true value of a decision if you get to live with it.
I had friends that laughed at me s3 about its size. Now one of thes ( a .... girl! ) got one for free
Her first reaction was "un#@#$ing believable... i was blind and now i saw!"
Same thing with 2nd battery. People give 500+$ for a phone and they don't get an extra battery and a charger.
If i borrow them mine for a few days they get to "see the light"
Same thing with sd cards. From 16 to 32 and from there to 64gb they were telling me what you will do with all that space for ?
Guess what? Its usually full.
So i ll be waiting for the 32gb at least , i dont believe we will see a 64gb version sadly
We might need to wait for a month or so to get it
64gb + 64gb
I have about 80GB of mp3 files which I want to carry around with me. I have several GB more of pictures I have a Galaxy S3 with 32GB internal and a 64GB card, and it's getting crowded. And I'll keep adding more files. Maybe one day I'll be comfortable with keeping this in "the cloud", or streaming it from HDs in my house, but right now I want it all on my phone.
Right now Samsung's web page only mentions a 16GB version for US carriers. I definitely won't buy that.
I agree with the philosophy of not questioning why someone wants the storage they want.
It is already available for pre-order on some sites (handyshop.de) by an exorbitant price of 899 eur and a delivery date at the end of October...

I was wondering the same as well. I just ordered my Note 2, but am wondering about the storage. I have a 16GB Nexus 7 and have found that with no music/videos/picutres stored, I cannot download all of my apps without getting a low storage warning.
Anyone have issues with downloading around 200 apps on a 16GB Note 2? I know you can add an SD Card, but that doesnt help with app storage, correct? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

just wait and purchased highest memory storage device.. 16gb will give you actually 11gb and which will spent very fast..
I am going to sell my 16gb note 2 soon.. its worthless as we cant install apps on external SDCard
Samsung has changed their website for the Note 2. It now says that it only comes in a 16gb version.
It used to say 16/32/64 gb versions. Now it only says 16gb.
I figured that if anyone was holding out for a different version, there might not be a point.

Well that sucks. I was thinking of getting one, but I couldnt wait and got the white one.
Yeah I noticed that a while back that in one of our "playbook's" (20 page sprint propaganda newsletter) so I went to samsungs page to learn more about it and they had those models listed while our playbook said it only came in 16gb. I figure with a 64gb sd theres no need for that much storage. I just stream all my music from google play / pandora / i<3raido and use that unlimited data plan for streaming netflix and crunchyroll. Using it for all its worth
They would cost more then people would be willing to pay.
Although in typical Samsung fashion it will come out later in different colors.
they should just ditch 16gb and make 32gb the standard model. flash memory is dirt cheap, what is the problem

I googled and the page I found still shows it.
Of course I'm a NOOB and can't post that link
You're looking at this page... probably still there for international versions being the other page that only says 16GB links to all US carriers.
http://www.samsung.com/global/microsite/galaxynote/note2/spec.html?type=find
I read that it was Google pushing for cloud usage.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Maybe not
I wouldn't interpret it that way. They probably took down references to the 32gb and 64gb versions of the phones because they don't want to Osborne the sales of the 16gb models, and because of pressure from carriers who are getting heat about not having the higher capacity versions. In the UK there have been complaints against Samsung for false advertising (a crime there) based on featuring the higher end versions in ads but not making them available; Samsung changed their ads in the UK in response to these complaints.
Whats more interesting is the fact that on the global site it lists 1 step tasking/multitasking features which is absent from the US versions.
I will be pretty peeved if that feature does not make it to the US versions!
US version:

International version:

I would have preferred the 32gb version as I had the GS3 32gb. Truthfully though, I never touched the internal memory. I think for me, it's more the idea of simply having 32gb. I store everything to extsdcard anyways.

I hope this isn't true.. but at the same time I wish they could give us a definitive answer as to whether or not the larger sized versions will be made available.
I've been holding off on getting one of these as I don't want to purchase one and then find out that the 32 or 64 GB version gets released a few weeks or a month later.
I just wonder if they took down the reference to the larger models because it's not currently available.
I would probably just go with the 16 GB version and stick a 64 GB card in it, but I don't want to run into problems with running out of room for APPS on the internal memory, which I've heard might be an issue.

Personally, I feel the same way. I opted for the 16gb version and honestly, how many apps can you possibly use on the phone. I have all my apps installed and have well over 10gb free on the internal memory.
My 32gb S3 still has 27gb of free internal memory.
I'm not sure what Samsung's plans are but as much as I would prefer at least 32gb, I'm coping quite well with the 16gb version.

That's good to know and helps me lean more towards just getting the 16 GB version instead of waiting and holding out.
Can I ask roughly how many apps you've got installed?
I have over 200 user apps installed, including a 1.4GB game. I still have almost 6 GB available. I guess if you want to install a bunch of really big games, you might need more, but 16GB is probably enough for the vast majority of people.

There is a way to switch the memory from internal to external and vice versa.
It works on the GS3 so it shouldn't be a problem for the note2.

Sprint guy told me the rumor is that the 32gb will be out around black Friday. I don't really trust the source but wish they would announce it. I really want at least 32gb plus my 64gb SD card. I could get by with less but always fill it up with Flashing and backups.

That's interesting. It would have made more sense to handle it by releasing then all at the same time. That's what they did with the GS3.
I'm thinking they aren't going to release them this time. I could see the black Friday thing but they'd piss off a lot of people who are outside of their return window. I've been stressing out a bit because I'd prefer the 32gb version and in some weird way, it's comforting that it appears as though it's not available.

Is anyone having trouble deciding on 16 vs 32GB configurations? Mainly because of the difference in RAM, with 16/2GB and 32/3GB.
Is there a difference in ROM building based on these versions? Or will all ROMs work the same on both versions? Do any other phones have the same thing, having different amounts of RAM? Not sure if I need the extra GB, but I'll have to see what ROMs support first...
This is all hardware. How in any way would it affect software? It just lets people who need more space for music (like me) to have more internal storage and 1 gb more of RAM which is also really good for people who want speed. For those who just use their phone once in a while, they can buy the 16 GB 2 GB RAM one. It all depends on preference.
32gb
I would recommend 32 gb as all the media files will be bigger due to the resolution. With LG's software there will only be 10~11gb of space left for the user

Oh right, the g3 will have an sd slot. I'd still go for the 32gb for apps (making the files install on the ext sd is a hassle and the apps won't run when you take the sd out)
Wanting to push this thread because i have the same question... I want to see some roms on the g3. But there is still no answer if there is a difference between 2gb and 3gb in building roms.
No problem here...32gb all the way.
Why would anyone choose 16/2 when you have the option of more storage and ram...makes zero sense.
Always buy the better option!

3gb version all the way!
What is the model number for the 3gb version and where can one buy it.....?
I'm okay with 16 GB of RAM. It wasn't an issue on my Nexus 4 and it isn't an issue on my Nexus 5 and 7. Besides, with an SD card slot, storage isn't an issue.
However, given the option between 2 GB of RAM and 3 GB, I'd go with 3. Always go with more RAM when you have the option.
Problem is that I am in the UK, so only 16gb coming as far as we know. That means I need to compromise on my storage. It will be a hassle to often move my camera pic and videos to SD card, and Whatsapp doesnt allow it.
I dont know which other data intensive apps will also have issues if i try to move to SD card....bit of a minefield.
Any tips would help ?
Shall I just forget about the 16gb version and get a different phone (I do like the look of this one however) ?

I would guess 10 to 11 gb of space for the apps and data that cannot be moved to the SD card. For me, this will consist of a few apps (metro newspaper eats loads of space !) , and lots of camera pics and videos (high resolution) and loads of whatsapp pics and videos (whatsapp stuff cannot be moved to sd either)
......that is why i am avoiding getting the 16gb version - LG are such s**theads for not selling the 32gb in the UK...makes me so angry !
I sent an email to LG UK support and as expected, they could only tell me that at present the 32gb is not announced for the UK, nor do they know if it will be or when, blah blah blah !!
I already preordered the 32GB version because
- apps getting bigger like GTA
- Offline Navigation like Navigon need alot of space
- Taking pictures and Videos
at least LG sells the 32GB here. HTC won't sell the 32gb M8 and S5 also not available as 32 GB
perfect would be a G3 with 64 GB internal memory

I am considering getting the G3 and theres about £50 difference between 32 and 16gb version, is the 3gb/32gb actually worth it? Seen some tests and the difference was hardly noticable...anybody has any experience with both versions and could compare?
Thanks!
I don't have the link handy but a review was done with both versions, and the benchmarks were nearly the same. With microsd support, I'd see no reason just for another 1gb of ram personally.

Every android phone I've ever had from 256kb to 2gb has eventually needed more memory. More memory means you can run more, cache more and be future proof. If your only keeping the phone for a year, then 2gb will probably be fine, if keeping for 2 years then I would get the 3gb version
Not exactly sure what 50 euros is in usd but if it's any where from 50-100 it's well worth it imo, especially since you get a sdcard & ram upgrade.
2gb ram has been the flagship standard for a while now, my HTC one gets pretty close to full ram usage at some points. More ram guarantees smooth performance for heavy usage as well as future proof specs, and don't forget the g3 has that qhd resolution and once higher (than 1080p) resolution videos become more common you'll be glad you went with the extra ram.
well the 16gb version, not sure what batch is it and where is it imported from(assuming Korea) goes for 1950 PLN = 373.8150 GBP according to google while the 32gb version which is imported from Korea goes for 2250 PLN = 431.3250 GBP so yeah not a big difference but still.
The thing is that I dont really play games on a mobile, most of the time I would just use it for browsing, mail, facebook, gps/maps, apps and camera damn, decisions decisions...

Personally I would just save the money and buy the 16gb and get a massive SD Card instead. I doubt there is any noticeable difference in performance unless you have a gizillion apps open at the same time. In fact I remember reading an article where an LG employee says the phone is optimised to run on 2GB RAM.
The only reason I can think of to get the 32GB version is if you do not plan on getting an SD Card, then the extra storage is definately worth it. And maybe resale value will be higher...

I think the extra on board storage is, now, very important as, in the up to date google builds, moving app data to sd is very restricted.

Unless you root...
But even so, internal storage is better than SD card for many reason (ease of use, speed)
I picked the 32GB from Germany, very happy I did so.
Get the one with 3gb ram, I can't believe they are still releasing phones with 2gb ram.
I have a Z1 and since I started using a custom launcher whenever I have some apps open and press the home button the homescreen redraws and it's not nearly as quick as before.
Also some apps don't stay cached when I reopen them.
The G3 with its massive resolution should eat even more ram.

I've just read a review here http://pclab.pl/art58419-7.html where they've tested the 2gb version and said it lags a lot, the CPU and GPU gets hot a lot, that it would be better if there was full HD than QHD, that the screen dims weirdly and that the screen gets this weird sharpening effect....
christ I dont know what to do :/ z2 is nice but it has a lot of issues, one's camera isnt good enough these days, g3 3gb is probably most future proof but the more I read about it the more doubts I get...

True, guess it depends on what you use your phone for. I don't do any gaming so the app data space isn't that large.
If the difference in price is ok then it makes sense to get the 32GB I suppose. Here in Singapore, only the 32GB version is available and only S$755 sim-free which is relatively cheap for a new flagship phone.
I'm still deciding whether to get this or the G2 which is only S$520 now!
I'm planning to buy the 32gb version. What I like to know is if the custom roms will be different or will they all be suitable for this version?

Hi,
I have got both phones at the moment (Model D855) and I would strongly suggest you spend the the extra few bucks on tthe 32GB phone. Not as much for the ROM but for the RAM. Today I have installed the same apps on both phobes after rooting them and installing TWRP recovery and the difference is very obvious especially when having several apps open in the background. Although many phones could do perefctly with the amount of RAM the 16 GB model offers, I think there is a difference in this phonbes screen specs. This fabulous screen asks a lot of capacity which I think is the reason the 16 GB version gets very leggy. It's better if you reboot every now and then but I recon you'd get very anoyed at having to do that 3 times a day.
The price difference is big enough to go for the 16 GB version. You'll most prbably regret in a few months.

I have the 16g d855 my phone now runs at 300mb free ram i bought it for 380 euro and the 32gb was for 500+ so the difference was big. So if you have that money go for 32 a test on youtube on benchmarking both versions shows that 32gb is 5-7% faster and the results proofs that.

Hello, I just wanted to ask a simple question.
I'm debating between buying a 16GB model or a 32GB model, the European version, that is.
Since the difference is not only in storage, but also in available memory (2GB/16GB vs 3GB/32GB) I wanted to know if there was any noticeable difference in performance between those two, something that should make me think of getting the more powerful version.
Aside from that, a minor question that I probably have answered already: do both versions come with QI wireless charging onboard? Or it's just a 32gb feature? As far as I know, they both come with that feature built-in, but I just want to make sure.
Thanks for all the future replies.
I can not inform you about the performance differences between the 16 aand 32GB versions.
Owning a 16GB EU (NL) G3, however, I can confirm that at least my EU 16 GB model has a QI interface on board.
No complaints on performace here btw...
If a gamer, the biggest issue is when L hits, ART requires 25% more storage and 1gb more free than Dalvik. That is a huge storage hit and functionally turns the 16gb into a 12gb model.
When L releases, 16gb devices are near futile for anybody that plays games on their device beyond card type games.

I seriously wouldn't recommended this phone for games. You are better of with something like the One plus one.
But back OT this question has been asked a number of times. Just do a search.
