Hi.
I'm reading this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2189539
which is very useful, trying to flash a stock ROM using Odin. My GT-N7100 is bricked, possibly with SDS. I'm on Mac OSX 10.8.4 and as far as i have read i need to download Odin 3.0.7 to my Mac (do they have a .dmg of this?). Samsung USB drivers to my Mac and the stock firmware from Sammobile.
The problem it is that everything is made for Windows. I'm seeing Samsung drivers in only Windows enviroment.
How can i flash using Odin on Mac OS X. Any links?
Thanks.
Another pal with SDS.
Hello there, Unfortunately I'm in the same boat as you. I'm on a Mac primarily but do have a windows desktop I can turn to when I come across windows only solutions as we have here. You can install a windows os using bootcamp or virtually through something like virtualbox on the Mac. For me though the windows route isn't getting anywhere. I don't think you have a full SDS situation where your phone is a complete brick like mine though. From your posts it sounds like you can at least get into download mode correct? If so you should be able to download the original 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 firmware for the Note II and flash via Odin. I wish I could at least try this step but as it is my phone is completely dead and won't boot at all. I'm trying to figure out how to submit a support request in the US right now which is proving very unsuccessful so far since we have the Galaxy Note International version (GT-N7100) which Samsung USA does not support in any way. I'm taking my phone to a local cell phone/tablet repair shop tomorrow to see if they can get anything accomplished. Good luck in your quest!
I have done more reading and have downloaded Heimdal 1.4- as well some random country GT-N7100 stock sammobile build .tar file (June- 4.1.2)
Please i need some incredibly generous person that might have an idea how i can flash a custom rom using Hemdal 1.4. My phone doesn't boot. I only have access to the "download mode". (No- recovery mode). I'm almost sure i have SDS (Sudden Death Syndrome) and i'm using OSX and my only choice is to try to flash the Note II with Heimdral.
Check if this helps

kinda late reply but you could use mobile odin to unroot.
Did anybody tested Heimdall ?
You can find it in mac softpedia, and it's an Odin equivalent..

I confirm that working, heimdall 1.4, gt-i9505 and 10.8.4, flashed cache and recovery successfully... first ofcourse downloaded .pit. Two times gave some errors, third time success.

Something went really ****ed when I tried to flash CM 10 on to my GS4 using Heimdall front end (1.4). Took it back to the store and they said they had never seen one fully "bricked like that"...
What steps did you follow if you dont mind? Explain like I'm 5 - they won't replace another phone for me haha

You don't use heimdall to flash cyanogenmod. You use it to flash the recovery, then you root from the recovery and then you flash cyanogenmod from the recovery.

For anyone still wondering about this. Get VMWare Fusion pro, install windows(I have windows 7 basic), then install odin(any version, i tested all of them), then flash that way.
And my specs are Macbook pro late 2011 2.4ghz quadcore running mavericks. Ive had no problems flashing whatsoever. Windows loads very quickly too

No hiccups, i just installed everything recommended. No special anything. And run odin as administrator. I probably flashed over 70 times already with 0 hiccups.

Http://jodin3.casual-dev.com is Odin for Mac. Because of limitations to Heimdall, I don't recommend flashing large files though. Its awesome for CF-Auto-Root and TWRP though.

Thanks for jodin3.
Using this to flash Lollipop (1.5 GB) will then not work using my Mac?

hey can you still get where you can factory reset. because i bricked my phone trying to root it, and all i did is flashed the the stock firmware on it and it worked it again.
hello all this was originally going to be how do you fix post, I am happy to say I found the solution. so I decided to post anyway "pay it forward"
my os win 7 64bit enterprise I installed a new mother board on my s3 sph-L710 rooted the phone using cwm recovery lte sg3 v5. and acutally did a backup and restore using the cwm recovery the restore went great better than any third party software out there. I just had to reinstall blue tooth entries and one app. I notice the usb to pc stop working I checked device manager and noticed the sph L710 mtp driver kept failing with a code 10. there is a bunch of stuff on the net that I tried that did not work. I got a firmware message I updated the firmware that fixed the issue. it bumped out my root and low and behold I now have android ver 4.3 so I am searching around a safe way to root that and mod the hot spot. samsung keeps it interesting
Hi,
Im having real trouble trying to root my galaxy tab pro 8.4. I just cant get odin to see the tablet or my friends note 3. I have done everything the tutorials say. but not. It doesnt go blue so i cant flash.
I have rooted before but went back to normal rom from sammobile. I would like to root again but just get odin to work. Can anyone help or is there another way to do it.
Thanks
Hi there I just had a quick question that I can't seem to find anywhere on the net.
Ok so I only have access to Mac OSX computer. I would only like to root my sprint Note 4 running 4.4.4 and possibly reflash my soft bricked sprint galaxy S3 (but that's not as important)
Now to root my Note 4 I've tried Jodin but myself and a few others can't get the required pit file no matter how many attempts so I eventually gave up.
I stumbled across a different method of emulating Odin via WINE, it was suggested that only Odin 1.85 was stable enough to run via emulation so my question is can Odin 1.85 flash a cf root tar to a Sprint note 4?
If not then my last ditch effort is, would it be possible for someone else to upload their sprint note 4 pit file for me to use with Jodin? I've heard this is strongly advised against but I'm literally at the end of my wit.
Any and all helpful suggestions are welcome
Thank you

Sorry I can't help, but I gave up my quest and bought a cheap lap top. I wish they had odin for mac! I used to use my work PC, but the company put the stops to that....anyway, subscribing to this thread as I would love to pitch the laptop over a cliff... sorry windows is like a cheap whore, even with norton, it still gets viruses
Have tried boot camp
Have you ever used boot camp on your Mac Book, You can partition a certain amount of you Hard drive to installed Windows and when you boot up your Mac Book, you will have a choice of booting in your Mac O/S or Windows. I went out and bought 64 bit Windows 9 and set up about 80 gigs off of my Mac Book hard drive, then I follow a YouTube video of how to installed Windows with boot camp. Every thing work out perfectly, so if there no Mac method to rooting a particular phone, I have Windows on my Mac Book for problems like yours. Or you can purchase a cheap azz Laptop! Look at some videos on Boot camp to see if its something you think you want to do.
^ I tried vwware fusion..windows would run just fine, odin would run but it would not allow me to flash anything...im guessing its using usb3 ports...thats all my mac book has

i used odin 1.85 and it worked fine for me - this was on a PC.
I have a samsung galaxy s6 with boost mobile and one day after a update I was watching YouTube then it started rebooting over and over. Since then I have looked everywhere online and downloaded firmware but it's only 1 .md5 file and have spent hours upon hours looking for a free download that is 4 files because all the guides I've found say there should be 4 files.
I found a thread on this forum that said using samfirm would produce 4 files yet when I downloaded I received 1 file yet again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I have exhausted all other options.
why you need 4 files firmware !! Flash with the stock rom first and tell us what happen.
Oh I'm sorry, I thought I had mentioned that I tried flashing with the stock rom file in the original post. When I flashed the rom using odin it said that is was successful but when the phone finished downloading it went to the blue android update screen and said it was updating. However when it reached 32% it stopped saying updating and started saying erasing.
Then the phone proceeded to rebooting showing the Samsung Galaxy S6 logo, then the Samsung Logo, then the Boost mobile logo where it always gets to and just continues rebooting.
Can someone possibly provide a link to a stock rom for my samsung galaxy s6 32gb boost mobile(model number: SM-G920PZKASPR) and I could try a different one but I believe that I found the right one already.
Again sorry for not clarifying in OP.
I am having the same issue with my boost mobile s6 but having trouble finding a good compatible odin tool link and also a link for the stock unmodded firmware. can someone please provide a link for good odin tool that will for boostmobile s6 and just the stock unmodded fairly recent firmware for the boost mobile s6 please?
Same here

I'm having the same problem with my Boost Mobile Galaxy S6! I have looked everywhere on here and cannot find the stock firmware and I already received the Nougat update
. I'm really a noob at this. I did learn a lot from reading through some of the threads . I have rooted my phone a few months back and was quite happy with it. Here's my variation of this scenario. I have undoubtedly ticked the OEM unlock by accident or a grandkid has been messing around with my phone and now it's stuck in booting with Custom Binary blocked by FRP Lock in red on the top of the screen. Here's my problem. I live in Panama City FL. and my town looks like a war zone with a stable internet connection not being promised until the end of the year sometime since we were just hit by Hurricane Michael HARD! I have pos free prepaid phone with internet but no hotspot, and a laptop with no internet. I have already downloaded Odin 3.13.1 and after trying for 3 hours with apparently the incorrect firmware (?) So any help would be greatly appreciated!
I Had the same problem...
I was locked out of my S6 for 10 months after un-ticking the "Allow OEM Bootloader Unlocking" setting (can someone figure out a way to lock this setting when using a custom ROM?) I don't think there's anything that instantly leaves you saying "WTF WAS I THINKING?" over & over again, while searching for the best way to fix it!
Most of my problems fixing this were due to driver issues in Win 7, wrong Odin version & lack of experience using it, Did I mention that I find the S6 in general, to be a royal pain in the A$$?
My S6 is an SM-G920P from Sprint, I needed to avoid data loss, so I followed this guide https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/help/custom-binary-blocked-frp-lock-how-t3581010
It still didn't work, but it put me on the right track as far as the file renaming & saving my data. I just had to use Odin 3.10.7, the newer versions didn't work for me, neither did 3.10.6. I also had to install Samsung USB Driver 1.5.55.0, also read another guide that I cant find right now, it was more detailed as to how to tell if Odin & the drivers are working properly. If you need further detail search for FRP lock G920P that's how I found the info that got mine working.

Thanks. I still might see about doing a hands on Ballistic SG Max test with it and upgrade to something a little newer with a removable SD card and a replacable battery.
