My phone should be arriving soon, and I am interested in finding out if PDANet+ works for USB/Bluetooth tethering. I had issues with it working on the G2, which prompted me to buy a Nexus 5, and was wondering if anyone has it working on the G3. It worked fine on the G2 until the 4.4 update, then it wouldn't recognize an internet connection. Thanks for any replies.

Works perfectly with USB and Bluetooth modes. Wi-Fi tether uses hotspot data.

Yeah, I had a Nexus 5, and wasn't going to upgrade if PDANet+ didn't work. Thank God it does, it stopped working on my G2 after an update so I got a Nexus 5.

i had my desire hooked upto my pc via usb and had 3g and wifi enabled, connected to the internet fine. but im not sure on tmobiles tethering policy i.e extra charges etc so decided to turn 3g off and use wifi. i.e wifi to the phone and share to the pc via usb. no dice, wont work! why wont it let me share my wifi which is alot faster than the 3g it will let me share?
also will i incur any fees from tmobile?

I had the problem with Win 7 64bit. The drivers of tether just wouldn't install. I solved it by using Easytether which can be found in the market.
You have to install the app on your Desire and you also need to install a small program om your pc/laptop but once installed on the Desire the app itself tells you what to do and when and where to download the stuff for your pc. Piece of cake
Does your laptop not have wifi?!

Can you do WiFi tethering on the Desire? That would be cool...
I doubt you can...because it seems pointless. I can't imagine a device running an OS that accepts USB modems that doesn't itself have Wifi built in unless it's a very old laptop, and then what OS are you running?

Try the app PdaNet, it lets you share your internet (3G/H) via USB or Bluetooth
yes both my macbook and desktop have wifi. i was curious as to why the phone would rather use a slow 3g connection to share as opposed to wifi if it is available.
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
There is a program available so you can use wifi on your laptop with the wifi on the phone. But to use that program you need root access so it won't work on the Desire (yet).

i am using a Samsung Epic 4g that is rooted and i use wireless tether and it only works on some devices? my friend just tried connecting to my wifi via the wireless tethering but his device (Droid) did not find my wireless address? does this sound like a problem with his device? or is it something on my phone?
Its because android phones don't support ADHOC, so tethering won't work for them.
There may be a hack that i don't know of though.

I need a hack for this as well, does anyone know of one?
The newest wifi tether app experimental version 3 supports infrastructure mode, this works even with intel chipsets (which have been a chronic problem with wifi tether). I would try that.

I want to surf on my Nexus using the surfstick internet connection of my pc via USB (or wifi). How can I setup this? thx
Although this has nothing specific to do with your new Nexus and your descriptions are pretty meager you should try this: http://www.connectify.me/
Of course, this is a Nexus issue. I already tried Connectify and established a Hotspot, enabled WLan on Nexus but it didn't find it. I guess I can only connect to networks from my laptop but can not be getting connected?!

Did you setup adhoc mode in Connectify? If so, the Nexus cannot see adhoc wifi at the moment.
yes, wifi adhoc. not "at the moment"? so it's gonna work someday..!?

Ad-hoc support usually isnt available out of the box, but our good friends here at XDA can hack the wifi driver to make it work.

I do hope so because I'm waiting for it as well. In Gingerbread days, you just have to replace wpa_supplicant with an adhoc-enabled one. Hopefully someone can compile wpa_supplicant from ICS source and add adhoc fix.

You really cant find anything about it on the internet to get it sorted. Strange.
Yes there is. I've been using connectify alternative called virtual router manager (assuming you use windows). More simple and stable than connectify

I've got Vista. I tried Connectify, established a hotspot, but it wasn't found by the Samsung Nexus.
When rooting my phone, I installed pdanet for the drivers. I realized it had built in tethering over USB, tried it out, and it worked!

Good day all:
So I LOVE to tether internet from my phone to my Xoom, but wifi tether doesn't work with (stock-rooted) Jellybean- YET
I tried Foxfi and it says use Bluetooth, well I tried to connect the two over bluetooth and share internet naively like I used to do with my Photon, but that didn't work either. :crying:
So the answer is in the communication between the two.
It's easy really:
1. Install PDAnet tablet on the tablet.
2. Install the newest version of Foxfi on your Note 2.
3. Start Foxfi bluetooth DUN on the Note 2.
4. Start the PDA app on the xoom and connect the two.
5. Enjoy mobile internets from your phone.
See that wasn't so hard.

I tried this but when I went to install the wifi on my gn2, I get a message saying 'this item isn't available on your carrier (sprint)'....

Wireless tether doesn't work on (stock) Jellybean builds. No luck on sprint GN2. If you did indeed get it to work I'm sure there are lots of people who would love to know how. Do you have sprint? Do you have a Note 2?

I linked the APK file in the OP. Sprint blocks tethering apps in the market. You'll have to side load it.

That's the problem you don't have to click activate hotspots just leave Bluetooth checked on foxfi and do the rest from your tablet.

Hi. i am using the latest Cynageon mod RC5 release rom and i am trying to connect to a 802.1x EAP security wifi connection here at work that uses PEAP method and i am unable to authenticate and connect to this wireless network.
Any suggestions?
it works on an android device running older then 3.0 as i checked on my HTC desire. It also works fine on my ipad and ipod touch devices.
I have also tried a Galaxy note that runs standard touchwizard Rom with no rooting and i even tried a Nexus 4 and all do not work

Yes youre correct my HOX with 4.1.1 and Tablet with CM 10.1 cannot enter the network because they will see the security as WPA. But you can install an app called advanced wifi config. Just edit another access point and rename it to your work wifi name. And then edit the security as 802.1x, PEAP, your domain, username, etc. And then use your luck so that your phone will connect to the wifi automatically because you cannt do it manual
