DPI? - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

Hi All,
Does anyone know of a good DPI for the Find 7a? the stock 480 is a bit big for me.
I now DPI is a subjective thing, but I don't want to pick one where apps don't run properly.

320 is probably way too low, and that's the next valid step down.
(In theory, 400 was added by Android 4.4, however while Android supports it, the Play Store does NOT so you'll encounter lots of app compatbility issues - see the various complaints stemming from the Z Ultra GPe running a 400 DPI configuration.)

I have just rebooted using 320 and it's perfect! Everything works fine!
By the way Entropy, do you have a find 7a? I have been following your work for a long time!

The option to change the system DPI is built into Dirty Unicorns, however, I have used texdroider DPI app on stock roms, but sometimes stock ROMS throw a fit.

Ah!
That one i tried and it din`t work....

When I changed the DPI I ran somewhere around 400 and used a modified play store to get around the incompatible error. Then Google started updating the play store too much and the dev for the modified play store fell behind and I just went back to default DPI. When I find the thread I'll link it.
Find what? Who the heck is OPPO?

[Q] LCD density and app resizing

Anyone else found that when they set a custom density not all apps resize, they seem to keep the default density of the Samsung ROM? even though it has been changed. NOVA HD was one but also dialler app and camera for me.
It is also irritating that touchwiz seems to be locked to particular density as well. Anyone found any workarounds for this?
I assume you've turned Compatibility Mode off in Spare Parts? If not, try that first.
TouchWiz seems to misbehave even with that turned off, but I've had no problems with anything else being too small while running at 192 density.
you weather and clock arent squashed up into the top left hand side of your screen then, leaving about 3/4 inch column down the right hand side?
Have to wait for a good multi dpi theme or rom... but I think without cwm they'll have to wait

YES.!, thought it was just me, didn't realise it was density at first and ended up flashing my phone twice from scratch, second time I didn't use it and no force closes.
Custom ROMS starting to head our way now so hopefully we can get this issue resolved.

Yeah there's quite a few oddities when changing density. I basically worked around it by replacing most of the default programs.
Dialer: DialerOne
Camera: One of the numerous camera apps in market
Music: Poweramp
Videos: mVideoPlayer
I still have to find decent replacements for Calendar and Contact list, though the contact list doesn't look bad really.
What theme are you using? I like orange

Ok, using this post as reference, I messed around with the Contacts.apk file.
I managed to resize the default dialpad to fit 200dpi.
Note that this apk was only tested on VillainRom. I don't think the signatures are compatible with normal deodexed roms.
However the scrolling aid on the right side when searching through contacts is still too small. Haven't found how to fix that yet.
EDIT: Also fixed the TouchWiz Calculator. Fits nicely on both portrait and landscape mode.
As I mentioned on another post below, if it doesn't work on your ROM, just replace the META-INF directory in my apk with the META-INF from your original apk to resign that package.
NOTE: Previous version of Contacts.apk still had misaligned landscape dialpad. I've fixed it and reuploaded.

i wont use this cos the sigs are diferent, but if u can point me where to look to change the settings, i will make my own... or ill just upload my apk for u to fix it, or make it more resizeable.
thx for the help!
Well an easy way for you to get it to work on yours is to download the Contacts.apk that I uploaded. Copy your Contacts.apk somewhere, and open both apks in 7zip. Then just copy the META-INF directory from your apk to my apk. That basically changes the signature. Once that's done my apk should work for you.

Let's take it one step further, what are the files you changed in your apk? For example, I know with the dialer, we may only need to change dialer_app.xml.

I actually went overkill on the apk. I basically grabbed the layout_resize java file from this thread and ran it on all layout xml files. Basically the script replaces all x dip references to x * 1.5 px. It's a bit unwise actually, but so far it's working as intended. Gonna test it for a few more days to see if replacing all dips broke anything.

I see, yeah that was a little bit too much for me. Nonetheless keep us posted on your progress. I am currently running 182 dpi which is the safest before certain stock applications stop working.

[Q] Netflix says its not compatible with my S2, any thoughts?

Any thoughts on how I can solve this?

revert back to 240 when finished installing, just go back to the density that you want. It will work after that. It seems the installer is checking up on screen resolution prior to installing/downloading.

I know why be worried about the desity?
Maybe its because when you program for Android you set images and layout objects based on density and screen size if you want to make your app dynamic. Android pulls this information from the app and lays out the GUI based on what folders they layout objects are in.

160 dpi on ics 27?

I was running dark 1.01, which has 160dpi default and sort of got used to it.

Anyone know how to get it to stay at 160, while dark is getting updated?

i've used one called LCD Resolution and when it changed it, it didnt do a "full" reboot; but a quick "system restart" . thats how i update my market apps. it's a really quick restart too. just be sure to turn wifi off after it restarts and then back on. it doesnt stick for some reason.
edit: not too sure if it works on ics

Sorry for bringing up a month old thread, but along with the screen density possibly being a factor, maybe it force closes due to Snapchat starting the app using the rear camera, which bviously we don't have. Maybe there is a way we can tweak it to set the FFC as default and maybe that will stop it from force closing?

thats a great idea i tried the current 1.6 version and i always have the same force quit after i log in so its nothing to do with the density since the app starts up normaly until i log in.
Well we can try the screen density idea make everything larger so its like a phone, if that works maybe somehow we can extract the application and MOD it for a 7' screen by changing the supported resolutions or DPI.
But if doing any of that doesn't work then we are out of luck unless someone can really change the app.

I've pulled the app from my phone and installed it on here. It'll force close after you sign in but then if you open it and receive a snap you can see the menu with all your history and even view the snap but if you try to take a snap it force closes so it must be because it defaults to the ffc
Anyone got it working on N7?

I would, but i shattered my screen last night and it's unusable... (Thank God for accidental damage insurance)

[Q] Changing the LCD DPI Density

Hi everyone!
So, let's suppose that we have a rooted LG G3 (done with the current rooting methods), running stock ROM. Because I always like to cramp as many widgets on the home screen as possible, I want to change the DPI density of the screen (usually 3-rd party launchers allow you to only rescale the shortcuts, but not the widgets). We coud use the Texdroider app from the Play store, but it changes the DPI globally, so I'm worried it might harm the phone... Another way would be to install Xposed Framework - but can it be installed already safely at this point?
Of course ruining the stock Launcher by changing the DPI is not a problem, as I always use some 3-rd party Launchers that can handle layouts more flexibly
I'm also interested in changing LCD density on G3.
Has anyone done it?

Tnx, but I was thinking on global change. On my old GS2 it was matter of simply editing build.prop file.
My setting was 182 which was great. But I remember that if you over do it, phone will not boot and without nandroid backup it is quite risky.
