Laser focus through a window? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Any of you G3 owners can comment on the usability of the laser autofocus when shooting through a window (ie from a car)? Does it still manage to get the right object for focussing? Or does it fail in any way and what happens then?
Rgds,
David

RECORDING VIDEO WITH THE CAMERA UTILITY MINIMISED OR HIDDEN

HI

ANY ONE?????????/

ashishpalsingh: it's a good thing you're Sikh, because otherwise I'd be slapping you for typing in ALL CAPS.
Please correct your messages, retyping them in normal caps. Here you go, I did it for you:

It can be done, but it's difficult as the camera app has a tendancy to close itself when minimised. You'll need an always on top app to force it minimised. It'd be easier to write your own camera/video app.
V
I think it is possible with Handyswitcher...
dude vijay555(panch so phappan)
there could be some reasons why its in caps AND YA HOW IS IT BOTHERING U
ANY WAYS U COULD NOT HELP ME
I think my suggestions to you, both with respect to your obvious lack of regard for other people reading your semi-literate posts, and in relation to minimising the camera, are realistic. I've done quite a lot of research on tweaking the camera app, and thereby wrote VJLumos, VJLumos II, VJCandela and VJCandela Lite.
The camera can be minimised, but it requires a specific type of task manager, and/or API hacking, or alternatively writing your own camera application.

It bothers me because I'm a moderator and it's my job to be bothered by it. :?

Start the camera going then using a small toffee hammer, lightly tap the screen about 6-7 times. Once you have wiped away the bits of glass you will see that no one will ever know you are recording them.

Enter button works for taking pictures!...& a camera question

I know a lot of people have been wishing for a hardware key for snapping pics and I have found that the enter key does the trick!
Question:
I've been a little annoyed with the camera speed lately so in a desperate attempt I'm wondering if copy n pasting the camera from the HTC Touch would speed things up(or break it) or is it all hardware/OS related?
It works !
Thanks for that.
Can't imagine you'll physically break your phone by installing a cab. Surely the worst that could happen is a hard reset, although I doubt it'd even get that far

Copying the camera executable from the HTC Touch wouldn't work. It's dependant on several other things, and probably would display wierd if at all, because of the drastically different screen sizes. It'd kinda be like trying to replace a car's tire with a bicycle wheel.
I've got my camera mapped to the PTT key, so I can use the key to open it and then press it again to take the pic.

I'm a Verizon user so sadly(sorta) lol we dont get a push to talk key. N oh yeah I forgot about the differnt resolutions. Anyone know of any camera snapping apps for WVGA resolution? The camera is so slow and the link to HTC album is embrassing with the slow pic loading speed. I'd rather use Resco's snappier Photo Viewer
In the dumbest post ever I just today realized I spelled my username wrong when I registered. Firefox always logs me in automatically so I've never noticed

Oh no thank you! The star button is always forgotten lol
more keyboard camera buttons
Sorry if its already been mentioned elsewhere, but I just noticed that on my TouchPro2 the arrow buttons cycle through all the different modes (photo, video, panorama, etc)!
This, plus Star Button=start camera and Enter=shutter makes it a perfect trifecta of keyboard excellence for camera users
Thanks for the 'Enter' find!
How/Is there a way to map it to a hardware key though? I'd love to be able to just press 'volume up' to take the picture when in camera mode.

Very comprehensive WP7 walkthrough videos

Check the pocketnow website!
http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/comprehensive-windows-phone-7-demo
There are 4 Youtube videos up there which show quite a good hi-res walkthrough for WP7.
I like the fourth part where he shows off Bing navigation! (The rest is mostly well known already...)
I watched these earlier. They fluidity of the OS is great. Just hope they can get those much needed feature in soon and this will be my next Phone.

I hate the internet at my job, they block youtube and all I get are the above statements.
Damnit!
Will have to wait until I get home
But on some other videos accelerometer/screen rotation was a misery.
I hope this will be something to deactivate, used only by sliding qwerty.

Why would you want your screen to be sideways?

I don't understand your question.
I'm talking about screen orientation.
I would like to deactivate changing orientation through accelerometer
and leave it only for qwerty opening on my device.

Why though? Are you laying on your side a lot? What is this situation where your phone will be in a landscape orientation but you want your screen to remain portrait?

Well basically any I imagine possibly because it's my device and I want to use it how I want it,
like viewing photo from different angles instead of device deciding for me how I should watch this.
All the automatic processes are always buggy to some extent. I want to be the only deciding factor to it.
This should be available to anybody who wants this feature
and possible for beeing disabled by the user whenever one wants to.

ditto...I basically disabled it on all use cases except for photoviewing. I don't even have a keyboard anymore, but I have swype and swype is better in portrait than landscape (less line drawing).

I would suggest using a device before declaring it buggy. Yea, it's been buggy on WinMo but all of WinMo has been buggy. There very well may be a "disable accelerometer" option. Not sure, I haven't seen it.
Hey it's getting offtopic already on page 2

For instance while reading in bed. Apple added it in iOS4 as it was a strong request from the community.
Nice feature if you ask me, as developers don't need to provide a "switch" it within their apps

Agreed, happens often enough. It'd be a nice plus to the OS, allthough not at all required.
Rotation is defined on a application level:
Code:
<phoneNavigation:PhoneApplicationPage x:Class="PhoneApplication1.MainPage"
SupportedOrientations="PortraitOrLandscape"

Question How motion mode works?

hi,
there is a pxl 6 at the shop , so i had a look.
couldn t find anywhere an option for take a photo in "motion mode" , is it just activated depending of what you take a picture of?
quite sad to see that so many modes are missing , like timelapse, macro, long pause etc etc

It's hard to answer a question about a specific phone software feature when only about 50 people on planet earth have access to said phone and can't talk about it because of some bumbo jumbo embargo.
Even though, technically, there are already at least 2 people here on XDA that received their P6 early, I'd suggest if you really want to know, you just privately message them and ask them to try that feature out. You should be able to find them rather quickly by just scrolling through the last dozen threads here.
ok thx
