Hi there, I am looking at a friends phone and could do with some help. His young child has encrypted the storage on the device. He is not worried about data etc he just wants to get his phone working again. I have already tried repairing on PC Companion and keep getting error 100 in the middle of the download.
Any help would be appreciated

Have you tried repairing the phone by flashing a ROM in flashtool?

When did you attach your phone to the pc? Before of after hitting flash?
After hitting flash
You have the exact same situation as this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759611
His friend's son encrypted his friend's phone and he wants a solution. To be honest, i don't think there is one here. There have been around eight people trying to undo encrypted storage but no one has found a solution. Im afraid that a new phone would be necessary here.
Ok, Thanks for the heads up

hi guys i need help asap been trying to research for three or four hours now and i am completely stuck.
The story is i have an arc s generic uk model which was on .42 firmware. however obviously being rooted and stuff i removed system apps etc and i recently i got the ota notifcation for the newer update which obviously cannot be installed unless the firmware is untouched.
now i backed everything up so thats not a problem. I decided to flash .42 firmware via wotanclient and well my phone was fully charged. after flashing had finished i disconnected the usb switched on my device and i got the yellow exclamation mark with the triangle. I found a thread whereby SEUS solved this problem but for me SEUS is saying installation failed please ensure battery is fully charged.
I tried to flash a generic us .42 firmware and well im having no luck. Ill attach the log to this post. im not sure if this error is because of the lt18a and lt18i differences or if it is something else. I also tried doing a straight flash to .62 firmware via wotan but i keep getting errors and im trying to download the ftf file but im having no luck. i dont care about root anymore as long as i can get my phone running again. help me please ive been trying for hours and im stuck. even if i put my phone on charge im in a boot loop to the exclamation point and back all over agian.
thanks in advance.
willing to donate to anyone that helps me solve my problem.

I've got my phone running however all I did was root my phone and now I can't install the .62 ota update. It keeps failing and I haven't done anything at all apart from root.
Sent from my LT18i using Tapatalk
Hey,
When you say it's failing, are you still getting the sin error?
Which version are you using?
I was getting the exact issue on my UK (tmobile) Arc, but I managed to get it working after using the top .62 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330314
If you've unlocked your bootloader, OTA updates won't work.

That happened with me once, I accidentaly flashed an LT15a firmware on my LT15i. Just flashed the right firmware again and it worked tho.

Do follow the guide I answered in your another thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038445
See you have any problem...
Ok so Im travelling around Colombia and need a smart phone to keep in touch with my folks back home as I'm out here for a year. All hail to the Xperia S, perfect for my needs and I have loved it since the 30th of Dec from whence I bought it. Turns out the phone is an import from the UK my homeland so ironically 1000s of miles from valid Sony care, but hey what can go wrong?
Well actually few things, as the camera went faulty on Sunday. I read many forums and followed all the advice up and to the last option, which was to reinstall the already upto date software. So I did via SUS. The update seem to go fine until I turned back on the device and reached the twinkling Xperia logo. Unfortunately thats how it stayed and after 30 mins, I hard reset the phone... DOH! I think maybe I should have left it longer in hindsight? Anyway I tried the reinstall again only this time left it alone. 5 hours later still no change, in fact in the end it ran out of battery with no changes, just Xperia Logo. FECKY DOODLES.
So I spent a day yesterday reading through all your related forums like a good little boy and trying various fixes. Initially via SUS then PC companion and then via Rootfix using stock roms (this gave me boot loop)

* Please note I had previously rooted the phone via BIN4RYs S root, could this be why I cant update via SUS and Pc companion? I was under the impression that using these would give me back root status.
I'm at a loss now and feel I've exhausted all possibilities, I have since used the SUS update again and managed to bring the beast out of its boot loop state.
Is there a way I could unroot the phone via Rootfix and then try again the SUS update?
Why did I get error flashing using rootfix ?
Might there be a hardware issue, Ive read quite a few motherboard failures and is there a way to test this?
I would be wholly appreciative if any of you fine fellows could lend me your doctoring skills and bring this illusive creature back to a life worthy of living.
Kindest regards
JIM

Yes I hard reset via power button and volume up for 10 secs and get the triple vibrate but I always get the flash error. BL is locked as I have never unlocked it.
Also I tried the unroot option in binary4root but it say device not found, I guess becuase I cannot access the device properly anymore

sorry mate no idea then
Ok so quick update
I downgraded flash tool version from 0.9.10 version to 0.9.5 version and guess what, The flash was successful with no errors
but now Im back at the Xperia screen exactly the same as with SUS update.
How long should the phone take to boot after the update?
for me, after reflash, it takes 3-5 minutes...

OK thanks so basically whatever I use to reflash I always end up stuck at the Xperia logo screen.
This is very disheartening.
If the problem is that it is rooted, how do I unroot the phone if I cant actually get past the logo screen??
you stuck on SONY screen or Xperia screen ?

if all went fine it shouldnt last more aprox.. 5 minutes more or less
does the phone vibate in bootnig process usualy its a sign that it will bot all the way...
have you tried PM some senior member or developer who had simmilar
problem ?
it shouldnt bee rooted if you flashed firmware again you suposed to loose root that way
since yor bootloader is locked and phone is able to conect i dont think its total brick
---------- Post added at 09:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:11 PM ----------
if you still have root and can pass the sony logo you should bee able to go in to CWM by tapping the logo or volume -
have you tried?

Thanks for reply
No vibration within booting process
It Stays at Xperia screen logo
Regarding CWM , Im sorry I dont know what that is. Do i install it via rootfix?
Ps I have looked for others with same problem everywhere but cant find anyone that I can address
You didnt running any custom roms or mods? CWM is a clockwork mod recovery, so yu can flash mods and custom roms after root, so if you didnd install it you cant enter it. All abut root and CWM is in development section of xperia S in this case
Sorry man, i was thinkig if you have it maybe you could restore backup but if you didnt i dont know what next
Wish you luck and hope youll find solution!

Hey big THANKS for al your suggestions!!
I was keeping away from Cutom roms and mods and stuck to the official updates, Ironically to prevent anything like this happening but it turns out that ever since an official SUS update my phone has been bricked.
If anybody else knows of anyone in or have had similar situation please get in touch.

Thanks Man I think I cracked it and for anyone else that finds themselves in a similar position, I finally gained access via a GB rom namely this one http://www.xdafileserver.nl/Files/S... (LT26i)/STOCK ROMS/GB/LT26_6.0.A.3.76_TW.zip
I flashed rom via Flashtool and GB loaded up fine.
I am now using native SUS to upgrade to available ICS 6.1.a.45
Its upgrading at the moment and starting applications but seems to be going fine.
Fingers crossed.
Well it begins as always.... with a borded guy inside his house on a weekend tinkering with his old phone. So i decided to root my phone since i would be replacing it in 2/3 months any way, and i managed to succesfully zergrush it, and it was unlocked. So being as happy as i was i got greedy and decided to flash it with 4.0.3 beta for xperia play. In retrospect that was not my smartest move yet. So i got clockworkmod and the zip file which was
DooMLoRD-PLAY-GSM-ICS-4.0.3-ROM-LEAKED-v01
I than proceeded to flash it which was also succesfully (using the clockwork recovery menu flash from zip file). BUt than after restarting my phone it just stays at Sony Ericsson and does nothing else (left on for 10 hours) while sleeping last night.
So when i woke up i decided to give it a shot at fixing it and installed FLASHTOOL. I downloaded the stock kernel.R800i_4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic. And tried to flash it. Now first of all Flashtool would keep telling me to install the drivers. I somehow managed to finally get them installed at which point it would continue to flash except it would reach a point giving me an error. CASE IN POINT bellow.

AFterwhich nothing happens.
Also tried to reflash it using fastboot boot command which keeps giving me (waiting on device message)
Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800I
Had: 4.0.2.A.0.42
CLockworkmod 5 i believe
FLashtool 0.9.7.0
So now can anyone help me with getting this phone working again. Assume i don't have USB debugging in which case give me an idea on how to flash it without the usb debugging. Thank you all in advance for the wonderfull gift of knowlidge.
Best Regards.

Indeed
Indeed you are wise to suggest such action. It appears as if that was my problem. However i am able to get 4.0.2 a 0.58 Enchanted on my play but i cannot get the stock 0.42 version to run. Interestingly however the doomlord root works on 58 even though it should only work on 42. And for the life of me i cannot figure out why i can't get the ICS to work on my phone. I am thinking perhaps the kernel is not flashing with it since i keep hanging on boot :S At any rate my phone is useable again but not with ICS

I know, there are plenty of topics for this error, but I didn't found a solution.
I tried the following...
- repair option in PC Companion --> error 2003 (even if I could repair the unlocked phone few weeks ago)
- FlashTool (newest version) stops with this error:

I can flash new kernels (Lupus & CM12.1 kernel), but if I want to go back to the .587 ROM, I can't flash them through FlashTool. Any idea? Bricked?
I always connected the phone after the popup which told me to do so. I also installed all the drivers - the phone is recognized in flash & fastboot mode (using Windows 7).
i have the same ****
try to install an older version http://www.mediafire.com/download/2ut97v5aszylr4w/flashtool-0.9.18.1-windows.exe

You got an error because of latest version of flashtool.
Use only flashtool
18.5 - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8q4pCAugmPgZWk0ZkFSTHk4a0E/view
or
18.6 - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzVQf67OZ9NtSnlHZEtWTnZ1LWc/view
or
8.0 - http://www.mediafire.com/download/ucczmw37815j2gv/flashtool-0.9.8.0-windows.exe
It worked! Note that Avast thinks that these versions of Flashtool are infected with some malware. Avoid that somehow
I can confirm this worked for me too. I was in the same situation.
My buddy in Canada mailed me his 2011 Xperia Arc as he wanted me to gain root on it. I did that, then unlocked the bootloader (this was carrier branded to Rogers). I had to go the long route for the BL unlocking (the whole "install this program, buy these credits, touch terminals under a panel with a paperclip, etc"). Then I installed CWM Recovery, then installed CyanogenMod 10, Android 4.1.2, but it was buggy as hell and was randomly rebooting. So I decided to try some new ROMs, hopefully more stable. BUT all the ones I wanted required I flash build 4.1.B.0.587 first. So I got the FTF build file needed, got Flash Tool 0.9.19.8, but kept getting the exact same error message, "ERROR - Processing of loader.sin finished with errors." So I tried Sony's Flash Tool, Emma. Then that told me the phone had a locked BL! WTF! I double checked, and that was not true. So then I tried Sony's PC Companion, and their server went down RIGHT after I started getting somewhere... FFUUUUUU!!! So then I found this thread... Got Flash Tool 0.9.18.6, got it all prepped to go (FTF file, drivers, etc), and fired it off... FAILED again. Tried again, this time with phone plugged in from the GET GO and NOT from when Flash Tool tells me to. And guess what, I was able to flash this stock ROM WITHOUT the phone actually being in Flashmode. LOL! What I mean is, when Flash Tool prompted me to hold Back and then plug in the phone, the phone was already plugged in... then BAM, it started working!
Either way, I'm now happy cos I can try out some more stable ROMs.
I hope anyone else in that situation finds this and gets some joy too.
Thanks for all the answers. I ended up installing Legacy Xperia CM 12.1. The only system beside .587 which has an acceptable speed on my Arc S - and up to date!
