You should have mentioned that you had unlocked your bootloader. Anyways, just follow what ap030993 mentioned above.

[Q]Xperia Play R800i flashing problems.

Hi. I tried last night to flash several .42 firmwares, including R800i_4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic_UK and R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Generic Hong Kong Trade, in order to get rooting access. But, after I connected the phone in flash mode and selected the firmware I wanted to flash it, I received an error: Flash canceled ; Device disconnected .
The usb debugging is on, I selected MSC. The program I used is Flashtool; What I'm doing wrong ? Thanks.

Firstly, the current version of flashtool is 0.8.6.0 so grab the update and apply that. Secondly, in the flashtool directory is a subdirectory called drivers (from memory, I use linux and we have native drivers), install these making sure you select the Play driver and flash/fastboot support and try again.

Okay, I updated the flashtool version to 0.8.6.0, I installed the drivers you said, but I receive the same error Flash canceled. My OS is Windows XP Professional. Maybe that could be a problem ?

Thanks a lot mate, I did it. I finally flashed the .42 firmware. Now I'm gonna root the phone. Thanks again.
@nurofenplus Thanks for your help.
I've had this problem, I think I ended up either just doing it again(installing the drivers) or maybe even installing the x10 driver set??? Think I read somewhere long ago they work? Might be wrong...he'll maybe I installed em all! It was a few flashes ago... In any case u should have to select "install anyway" on a few unsigned drivers, And remember, back button whilst plugging in USB for flash(green light) search button whilst plugging in for fastboot(blue light) it will certainly be a driver issue on pc, mtp and debugging are irrelevant in flasmode(I think ), it's not a good idea to use a USB hub or even front panel ports if you suspect they are a bit dodgy(ie, part of a combination card reader etc, it also doesn't hurt to always run flastool ad administrator. Hope this helps.

@xplayed Yeah, I know, I installed & reinstalled the Xperia Play drivers several times, but it didn't work it. The problem was probably with the program version I used, because after I used flashtool v0.6.9.1 it worked like a charm.
Okay, after I flashed and rooted my XPlay, I tried to install a custom rom ([ROM + THEME] [GSM] [2.3.4] Gin2JellyBean [v1.8.1] |Fast|Smooth|Stable|Eye Candy|), but I reached step 6 and I don't know what to do. How do I flash that custom rom on my phone ? May someone point me a tutorial or be kind and explain me what to do ? Regards.
I had this problem and what I did is just flashed my stock kernel in fastboot but it sure is a program error and not our fault.

[Q] XPERIA S... Its life Jim but not as we know it (HELP!)

Ok so Im travelling around Colombia and need a smart phone to keep in touch with my folks back home as I'm out here for a year. All hail to the Xperia S, perfect for my needs and I have loved it since the 30th of Dec from whence I bought it. Turns out the phone is an import from the UK my homeland so ironically 1000s of miles from valid Sony care, but hey what can go wrong?
Well actually few things, as the camera went faulty on Sunday. I read many forums and followed all the advice up and to the last option, which was to reinstall the already upto date software. So I did via SUS. The update seem to go fine until I turned back on the device and reached the twinkling Xperia logo. Unfortunately thats how it stayed and after 30 mins, I hard reset the phone... DOH! I think maybe I should have left it longer in hindsight? Anyway I tried the reinstall again only this time left it alone. 5 hours later still no change, in fact in the end it ran out of battery with no changes, just Xperia Logo. FECKY DOODLES.
So I spent a day yesterday reading through all your related forums like a good little boy and trying various fixes. Initially via SUS then PC companion and then via Rootfix using stock roms (this gave me boot loop)

* Please note I had previously rooted the phone via BIN4RYs S root, could this be why I cant update via SUS and Pc companion? I was under the impression that using these would give me back root status.
I'm at a loss now and feel I've exhausted all possibilities, I have since used the SUS update again and managed to bring the beast out of its boot loop state.
Is there a way I could unroot the phone via Rootfix and then try again the SUS update?
Why did I get error flashing using rootfix ?
Might there be a hardware issue, Ive read quite a few motherboard failures and is there a way to test this?
I would be wholly appreciative if any of you fine fellows could lend me your doctoring skills and bring this illusive creature back to a life worthy of living.
Kindest regards
JIM

Yes I hard reset via power button and volume up for 10 secs and get the triple vibrate but I always get the flash error. BL is locked as I have never unlocked it.
Also I tried the unroot option in binary4root but it say device not found, I guess becuase I cannot access the device properly anymore

sorry mate no idea then
Ok so quick update
I downgraded flash tool version from 0.9.10 version to 0.9.5 version and guess what, The flash was successful with no errors
but now Im back at the Xperia screen exactly the same as with SUS update.
How long should the phone take to boot after the update?
for me, after reflash, it takes 3-5 minutes...

OK thanks so basically whatever I use to reflash I always end up stuck at the Xperia logo screen.
This is very disheartening.
If the problem is that it is rooted, how do I unroot the phone if I cant actually get past the logo screen??
you stuck on SONY screen or Xperia screen ?

if all went fine it shouldnt last more aprox.. 5 minutes more or less
does the phone vibate in bootnig process usualy its a sign that it will bot all the way...
have you tried PM some senior member or developer who had simmilar
problem ?
it shouldnt bee rooted if you flashed firmware again you suposed to loose root that way
since yor bootloader is locked and phone is able to conect i dont think its total brick
---------- Post added at 09:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:11 PM ----------
if you still have root and can pass the sony logo you should bee able to go in to CWM by tapping the logo or volume -
have you tried?

Thanks for reply
No vibration within booting process
It Stays at Xperia screen logo
Regarding CWM , Im sorry I dont know what that is. Do i install it via rootfix?
Ps I have looked for others with same problem everywhere but cant find anyone that I can address
You didnt running any custom roms or mods? CWM is a clockwork mod recovery, so yu can flash mods and custom roms after root, so if you didnd install it you cant enter it. All abut root and CWM is in development section of xperia S in this case
Sorry man, i was thinkig if you have it maybe you could restore backup but if you didnt i dont know what next
Wish you luck and hope youll find solution!

Hey big THANKS for al your suggestions!!
I was keeping away from Cutom roms and mods and stuck to the official updates, Ironically to prevent anything like this happening but it turns out that ever since an official SUS update my phone has been bricked.
If anybody else knows of anyone in or have had similar situation please get in touch.

Thanks Man I think I cracked it and for anyone else that finds themselves in a similar position, I finally gained access via a GB rom namely this one http://www.xdafileserver.nl/Files/S... (LT26i)/STOCK ROMS/GB/LT26_6.0.A.3.76_TW.zip
I flashed rom via Flashtool and GB loaded up fine.
I am now using native SUS to upgrade to available ICS 6.1.a.45
Its upgrading at the moment and starting applications but seems to be going fine.
Fingers crossed.

[Q] Flashtool Error Flashing Loader.sin

Hello, I accidentally unplugged my Xperia M (Single SIM, C1905) while flashing a new boot.img. Now, the only sign of anything happening is the LED flashing red when plugged in. To fix this problem, I tried to boot into fastboot to reflash the boot.img, but my phone will not boot into fastboot.
I then tried to reflash the stock firmware using flashtool, and repeatedly get the same error:

There's another thread like this with same error on flashtool, seem to think the device is now locked in a read only state still haven't figured a solution yet so unless some one knows then your device is hard bricked at the moment

Thanks, do you have a link to the thread or know where it is? I couldn't find it with the search. Also, do you know if it is repairable under warranty, or will I have to pay for the repair?
It will not be covered under warranty as flashing a boot.img requires an unlocked bootloader which voids warranty so you will pay through the nose for a repair if it is repairable. I'll get the link for the other thread

[Q] Xperia M encrypted storage

Hi there, I am looking at a friends phone and could do with some help. His young child has encrypted the storage on the device. He is not worried about data etc he just wants to get his phone working again. I have already tried repairing on PC Companion and keep getting error 100 in the middle of the download.
Any help would be appreciated

When did you attach your phone to the pc? Before of after hitting flash?
After hitting flash
You have the exact same situation as this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759611
His friend's son encrypted his friend's phone and he wants a solution. To be honest, i don't think there is one here. There have been around eight people trying to undo encrypted storage but no one has found a solution. Im afraid that a new phone would be necessary here.
Ok, Thanks for the heads up

While there may be other methods, I would just flash factory FTF with flashtool, root, install clockwork mod, reboot into recovery, wipe cache, data, and dalvik. then restore ROM from SD card.
Is the ROM you want to flash CWM, or TWRP?

Try attaching to another USB port. Also, insert an SD Card into the phone if one isn't there. I've experienced an issue with that before. Try different USB cables as well, since some cables can't carry data.
I use flashtool 0.9.10, so you can also try an older version.
Also, try reinstalling ADB drivers.
Hopefully, some of those suggestions should get it working.
When you turn on the phone, does anything show, or just a blank screen?
Try doing a factory reset with the software from sony even if the phone is not "recognized" it should work. Something similiar happened to mw and it flashed the phone anyway. Flashtool I only use that for custom stuff if my phone ever needs a reset I use Sony's software. Flashtool is supposed to do sonething simuliar but it doesnt always work.

Try a couple more times if that doesnt work try sony erricsson update engine service. If that doesnt work try flashtool again. Do each one more than once. When you reflash keep the phome off usb. Once it says to plug it in hold the back button. On the phome until the led turns green or the reflash starts.
If that doesnt work there is one more solution you can try using abd. Have you used abd command line before?

From your earlier screenshots, you seemed to be flashing 4.0.2.A.0.42. I think zergrush only works on firmware 2.3.3. I believe the one you flashed was 2.3.4 ftf.

You'll have to install Clockwork Mod recovery first. Here's a link. Once it's installed. restart the device, and keep pressing volume down.
