Try to turn off your Gps and if there's no 3G connection, switch to 2G only
It'll help..

try to disable some things like
-google location services and GPS satellite in "location and security" settings
-use 3G connection only when needed
-reduce device brightness in "display" settings
-use adrenaline engine 4.4 script,it will gives you major amount of good battery life and gives you a better performance.
-delete some useless system apps when not needed,it will gives you better battery life+better performance

why don't you try install cm 7, 9, or 10, they are very stable and better than stock rom in performance.
if you use your phone a lot for playing games it does eat the battery no matter what rom you install.
my grand consuming more and more battery. example---> if i use for chating or playing games (only for 20min)(it use 30% or more of battery) itz take more battery.plz sugg any battery improvement
Delete unwanted bloatwares and install greenify to hibernate all unused apps ...
Disable wifi or 3g or edge when not in used ... alwaz clear all the running apps from multitasking window which are not in use.
If u are not using 3g then go to mobile network option and use gsm only network.
If after following this steps also battery still eating up a lot then install cyanogenmod 10.1

Cm 10.1 is the best.. No need to worry any bloatwares... Freedom to chose our own apps.. battery will last upto one and half days.. Good for battery..if using 3g last upto 19 hrs..

I am interested with solution to battery problems but I am surprised about suggestions of cm10.1 which clearly does not have dual sim(or Maybe it is solved?). Of course you will have better battery if only one sim is used. The main reason why I bought grand is the dual sim plus some smart phone features. So instead of flashing another rom why not just disable the secondary sim to have better battery life?

Disabling second sim will not increase battery life... check your normal ram and CPU usage when phone is in idle stage
From galaxy grand CM 10.1 firmware..
In stock rom at idle condition free ram is about 320mb or 350mb(unrooted) where as in cm10.1 free ram was alwaz 550mb+ sometimes 600mb free ram

My second sim is a roaming sim so it will draw more power. Anyway no matter how good cm 10.1 is I will not even touch it unless it has dual sim. I tried cm on my note 1 before so I do have idea what it does. Also tried its derivative paranoid. Went back to samsung based.

Cyanogen mod is more popular than stock Samsung ROM.. because of simplicity, stock android, awesome themes, less ram and cpu usage, fast response, more battery life .....Nowadays customers first check whether a phone has CyanogenMod support or not... Before they decide to buy any new androidphones..

Me too..
From galaxy grand CM 10.1 firmware..
Cyanogenmod wont get dual sim functionality
And i personally dont have any prob wid its single sim support bcoz i have a Nokia 1280 black and white display which i love the most as my daily phone calling work horse as its battery once charged fully lasts more than 4 days
So wheather cm10 got dual sim support or not it doesnt matter ...
I have used cm10.1 on my grand for more than 2months and the experience was pure awesome with thmemes make u love your phone in a new way daily ...
I think the real power of Grand can only be seen in CyanogenMod 10.1 ... along wid awesome battery life.
Man its just ultra smoodth ... love Cm10.1 <3

I agree anin. Even Samsung touchwiz is sometimes laggy in gs4, then what about grand..I can change my phone to HTC sense, xperia z,iPhone within seconds.. By changing the themes.. No need of any third party launchers support.. Check my stock keyboard with awesome theme in cm10.1
From galaxy grand CM 10.1 firmware..
I flash latest stock firmware only to update my baseband. after that i revert back to cm10.1..
From galaxy grand CM 10.1 firmware..
Awesome keyboard Rejo ...

Your phone will not lose root access after flashing to cm10.1
Everything which is there in your internal phone memory will be lost ... so do a backup of that.
Data which is there in memory card wont get deleted.

check the Wifi advanced setting.
Turn off the always scanning. This always do the tricks.
Everytime you flash 4.3 rom, this checkbox will always default to "checked", try to manually unchecked it.
Sent from the corner of this rounded earth behind my PC.
Try do several restart your phone and observe if problem still occur. I experienced this problem too and you also notice after the update RAM usage is higher. Mine normalize after several restart. Hope this solve your problem but don't worry there are plenty ideas to be share to you..
Wifi scanning was already unchecked......hope the restarting trick works....thanks......

I also noticed the battery drain after the KitKat update of my device... Previously my device used to last for 1 1/2 day after full charge with a moderate usage. But now with the same usage, Its draining fast and lasting up to evening only...! Is there any way to revert back to Jelly Bean...? My primary concern for buying this phone is 6" display and battery stamina... The kitkat update is eating up my battery...! :crying:
