Just bought this and could not find a way root but was successful with TowelRoot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2783157
But I need a Custom Recovery so I can load a rom....not sure if I can load any recovery my cell N3 uses SS. Can anyone provide me link to a safe recovery I can use in the P605V baseline NC2?
Not sure that the bootloader has been unlocked to install a custom recovery. Last I read it had not been.

I was wondering if I used the Freegee project app from the play store to flash CWM can I use that version to flash the CyanogenMod 10.2 without any problems? I know it says use a loki-fied version but I can't find where that is located at.

If you were rooted and used freegee to install CWM recovery. You are good freegee installs a lokified version of CWM.
Therefore CWM applies the Loki patch for you when you go yo flash a ROM.

Thank you, I wanna use CWM instead of TWRP cause it won't let me tap in anything other then install and once I'm there I still can't select anything.

Hey guys,
if i ''restore with backups'' with the freegee tool ,does that mean that cwm recovery is uninstalled or does it just lock the bootloader?
If i do that is any way to see that the phone has custom recovery and not the original?(its for warranty issues)
i want just to lock the bootloader and then unroot it..finally i will do a factory reset.
The reason im asking is that im a bit of noobie and the whole ''kdz revert to stock'' process i a bit scary to me
Thanks in advance!

For warranty reasons simply use this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660
Also Freegee doesn't 'unlock' the bootloader, it simply flashes custom recovery that patches the boot partition so that we don't brick our phones. It's actually just a bypass. Virtual Machine if you wish to call it that I guess.
Recovery for kitkat version
........on free gee i could only find cmw for jellybean version......there is no lokified version for kitkat...anybody who know about this...plss help me..
While trying to flash to the latest slim bean beta 4 I believe I bricked my device. It came up with something about secure bit being disabled. Lucky I was able to enter download mode and flash a Telcel ROM to make my phone work. I really want to run something other than this stock ROM. This is the first time anything like this has happened during a flash that I've done on any device.
Please help!

Secure boot error. Cause: boot unlock, so boot successful.
It's supposed to say that. That's how Loki works. I advise you to do a little more reading that way you don't freak out and do something hasty. Also always make sure you read the op carefully. Reroot your phone and try again.

I read the OP, I didn't really see anything about Loki. All I did was root, then install CWM, then flash the Slim ROM. What didn't I do right?

You really didn't do anything wrong. You supposed to wait for the rom to boot though after flashing. I say give it 5 minutes.

The ROM never booted. I flashed the ROM, them gapps, then modem, them hit reboot in CWM. That's when I get the error

It doesn't sound like you used Loki..
Root device then go to play store and download
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.shell.freegee_free
Make sure to select yes on security unlock and I would pick cwm recovery to avoid touch screen issues with twrp.

Did you install cwm thorough freegee? If so its auto lokified. And did you wipe data, cache, dalvik and format system? I do that every time with very rare boot issues. Rom posts will only mention Loki if they have lokified it themselves, youre expected to have read all about loki in the recovery threads.

Just remember after you root your device you must install recovery by using the app Freegee from Play store and select yes to security unlock.
Only flash ROMs made for a 980.

Well there's my problem. I didn't know that it was the recovery.
I used this recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2284298
Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.2.8 v1 for Optimus G Pro
which apparently doesn't support Loki (still don't know what that means, but I guess its bad ). Maybe I'll order an external battery charger and try it again with the Loki-fied recovery.
Thanks for the help!

The boot loader is locked so there is a security. Loki is what's used to bypass the locked boot loader.
You must use Freegee to install a recovery that had Loki built in that way you can install ROMs because the recovery will always bypass the locked boot loader cause its using Loki.
The app is great and I suggest buying the donate version. I also recommend freegee to backup your els.
Also I suggest selecting cwm as the recovery when freegee asks.

Yes you can. Make sure to wipe data..after freegee you will start seeing a quick screen that shows up on reboot about bootloader security unlock success or something like that..this is normal.
Again only ROMs in this development section and for the E980

I just got a Rogers note 2. I'm a little lost on how to install a custom rom/recovery on this device. I only have experience with the nexus 4 and htc one x,s and evo 3D. So i know the basic adb commands and such and have fastboot set up. Basically as an end result I want a custom rom, kernel and a working recovery. I was also wondering if a custom rom such as cm10 supports the s-pen? and can I flash a at&t rom on my Canadian phone?
Info:
Model: SGH-I317M
Android: 4.3
Baseband: I317MVLUCMK5

S Pen: you can get some spen feature with AOSP roms but most of em will not be like a touchwiz rom.
Yes you can use att rom on your note but you might need to manually input your APN. This is no big deal.

You can do it both way. If you have a costum recovery installed you can flash the zip file provided in the thread. If not you can flash it with Odin.

You first need to root, I think there are two ways of doing it, I usually do it with odin and cf-autoroot. I'm not familiar with other ways.
Then you can install recovery trough odin OR using goo manager from playstore and press menu, install open recovey script
Once you have done all this, you will be ready to install a new rom.
Take a look at the cf-autoroot thread and the twrp thread in the development section.
Read a lot before attempting stuff, you need to prepare yourself and understabd how it works or your risk ending up with an expensive paperweight.

OK sounds good. I just thought some firmware you couldn't root. Am I good to install kernels like that too? Most phones I have owned need an unlocked boot loader to flash kernels. Are Samsung phone pre unlocked.
Hello guys . Let me start of by saying I'm probably repeating what has been answered a million times but time is of the essence here. Here's my situation.
I have a friend who has a t mobile galaxy s4 and he asked me to upgrade his system for him to cyanogenmod . He has mk2 firmware android 4.3 and his rooted I did that for him. But the thing is I have an att galaxy.s4 and my bootloader is locked . Is the t mobile one locked as well on MK2. I don't want to mess up his device. He doesn't care for tripping the flash counter as he has no warranty.
So to conclude can I flash TWP or CWM recovery on his phone without bricking it if so can someone please lead me to a link. Thanks .
Once again sorry for the repetition but I searched google and I wasn't getting a straight forward answer.
