I was wondering if I used the Freegee project app from the play store to flash CWM can I use that version to flash the CyanogenMod 10.2 without any problems? I know it says use a loki-fied version but I can't find where that is located at.

If you were rooted and used freegee to install CWM recovery. You are good freegee installs a lokified version of CWM.
Therefore CWM applies the Loki patch for you when you go yo flash a ROM.

Thank you, I wanna use CWM instead of TWRP cause it won't let me tap in anything other then install and once I'm there I still can't select anything.

Hey guys,
if i ''restore with backups'' with the freegee tool ,does that mean that cwm recovery is uninstalled or does it just lock the bootloader?
If i do that is any way to see that the phone has custom recovery and not the original?(its for warranty issues)
i want just to lock the bootloader and then unroot it..finally i will do a factory reset.
The reason im asking is that im a bit of noobie and the whole ''kdz revert to stock'' process i a bit scary to me
Thanks in advance!

For warranty reasons simply use this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660
Also Freegee doesn't 'unlock' the bootloader, it simply flashes custom recovery that patches the boot partition so that we don't brick our phones. It's actually just a bypass. Virtual Machine if you wish to call it that I guess.
Recovery for kitkat version
........on free gee i could only find cmw for jellybean version......there is no lokified version for kitkat...anybody who know about this...plss help me..

While trying to flash to the latest slim bean beta 4 I believe I bricked my device. It came up with something about secure bit being disabled. Lucky I was able to enter download mode and flash a Telcel ROM to make my phone work. I really want to run something other than this stock ROM. This is the first time anything like this has happened during a flash that I've done on any device.
Please help!

Secure boot error. Cause: boot unlock, so boot successful.
It's supposed to say that. That's how Loki works. I advise you to do a little more reading that way you don't freak out and do something hasty. Also always make sure you read the op carefully. Reroot your phone and try again.

I read the OP, I didn't really see anything about Loki. All I did was root, then install CWM, then flash the Slim ROM. What didn't I do right?

You really didn't do anything wrong. You supposed to wait for the rom to boot though after flashing. I say give it 5 minutes.

The ROM never booted. I flashed the ROM, them gapps, then modem, them hit reboot in CWM. That's when I get the error

It doesn't sound like you used Loki..
Root device then go to play store and download
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=edu.shell.freegee_free
Make sure to select yes on security unlock and I would pick cwm recovery to avoid touch screen issues with twrp.

Did you install cwm thorough freegee? If so its auto lokified. And did you wipe data, cache, dalvik and format system? I do that every time with very rare boot issues. Rom posts will only mention Loki if they have lokified it themselves, youre expected to have read all about loki in the recovery threads.

Just remember after you root your device you must install recovery by using the app Freegee from Play store and select yes to security unlock.
Only flash ROMs made for a 980.

Well there's my problem. I didn't know that it was the recovery.
I used this recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2284298
Clockworkmod Recovery v6.0.2.8 v1 for Optimus G Pro
which apparently doesn't support Loki (still don't know what that means, but I guess its bad ). Maybe I'll order an external battery charger and try it again with the Loki-fied recovery.
Thanks for the help!

The boot loader is locked so there is a security. Loki is what's used to bypass the locked boot loader.
You must use Freegee to install a recovery that had Loki built in that way you can install ROMs because the recovery will always bypass the locked boot loader cause its using Loki.
The app is great and I suggest buying the donate version. I also recommend freegee to backup your els.
Also I suggest selecting cwm as the recovery when freegee asks.

Yes you can. Make sure to wipe data..after freegee you will start seeing a quick screen that shows up on reboot about bootloader security unlock success or something like that..this is normal.
Again only ROMs in this development section and for the E980

Thanks! Just rooted and installed CWM through FreeGee Donate... Flashing a new ROM now.. hope it works!
...but im really confused by it all.
Im not new to rooting or flashing roms etc but im confused with all the different builds and my efs folder and what not.
I came from having a moto atrix and a htc desire before that.
My phone is currently on stock XXDME6 with baseband DMF1 and im in the UK.
Can someone point me in the right direction to be able to root, install TWRP recovery and flash miui v5 please?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
For TWRP: HERE
MIUI thread: HERE
Once TWRP installed make sure to make a Nandroid Backup and check EFS partition.
Then you will be able to flash MIUI safely.
The easiest way to root is chainfires autoroot but that won't give you custom recovery you will have to flash separately. Dr ketan has published a gude that is stickied, you can't go wrong if you follow that and dr ketan is always helpful and friendly if your confused

Thanks for the replies.
If i root using CF auto root, how do i flash the twrp recovery?
Is it only roms built using a stock base that i have to worry about the build number then?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
You can flash any build number I think the issue is with the latest modem which once flashed can't be downgraded . There are a few threads on it. If you want to use auto root you can use something like rom toolbox pro or I used mobile odin to flash a custom recovery. Personally I recommend phils touch recovery. I think he has an all in one root and custom recovery package that you just flash with odin

If I remember correctly you can downgrade to an earlier rom as long as you reflash your modem

I was told it tries to flash the bootloader and I know thats prob a bad idea.

Install a custom recovery first. Then flash the zip in the recovery. You'll be fine and should not brick. I've done the same

thx, i installed clockwork mod recovery then beanstalk 4.4, seems to be working
I had installed cwm with freegee then I flashed philz touch. everything was working fine. I restored a backup (slimbean 4.3), rom booted and was running fine. then I flashed a font and I ended up in a bootloop.. I then booted into recovery and wiped everything like I normally do when installing a new rom or restoring a backup. I restored my backup and now whenever I choose reboot phone it just reboots back into recovery. Is there anything I can try without having to completely start from scratch?
Go back to CWM from Freegee and restore your back up.

How would I do that? and I'm not sure that would work. everything has been working fine with restoring backups and flashing new roms. I've only had this problem because I flashed a font zip and it may have not been compatible
You should have another recovery, either CWM or TWRP on your phone from before Philz recovery don't you? Boot into recovery, flash one of them and flash a rom.

yeah I installed cwm with freegee and used that for awhile.. then I flashed cwm advanced edition philz touch for e980 and as I said everything worked fine, flashing roms, restoring backups. I was on bs harmony 4.4 and flashed a font zip file and it worked fine. a little while ago I wiped everything thru recovery like normal and restored my slimbean 4.3 backup, it booted fine and I ended up going back to recovery and flashing the same font zip file and that's when I ended up in a bootloop.. I removed battery and booted into recovery wiped everything and tried to restore both backups but it only resulted in a cwm bootloop, everytime I reboot it boots back into cwm advanced edition philz touch
And you're positive that you don't have another recovery like madmack's hacked TWRP on your phone somewhere? I have it, TWRP 2.6.3, CWM all on my phone and have switched because of different roms. Look hard or you might need to start over.

no I'm not positive.. I assumed that when I flashed philz touch it installed over the freegee cwm that I installed.. am I wrong? if so how would I go about booting into the freegee cwm that I originally installed? when booting the phone and holding the volumedown, power, and home button it automatically boots into the philz touch cwm
