Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anybody could shed some light on the difference between this

and

I'm wanting to buy one soon, the second one states FHD 2nd gen newest model

Are you sure this is the only difference? I did spot that it was just that the title of the item in the second link is FHD 2nd gen?

It is a little misleading though. The first link states that the nexus 7 is the first 7" tablet with a quad core processor, while the second link specifically states 2nd generation. I'd do a little more research, maybe even email the seller? I would want to be 100% positive on what I was buying!

The weight on "2nd gen FHD" is listed as 581g where as the first one is listed as 290g?
I'm guessing you both own the nexus 7, could you provide links from where you purchased them so I can compare.

The specs listed in the description of both match 2013 specs. In the 16GB add it looks like the might have got the item weight confused with the shipping weight. You may want to confirm with the seller but I would feel confident getting either if I was looking to buy a Razor.

If not eBay, your other option would be buying it from the grey market.
Or find an eBay dealer locally.
Ok, I see that you're from Bangalore. So there's this seller in Bommanahalli you might wanna check. Also check that other thread link provided in the above reply for more information.

Hii guys,
So ive been saving up some money to buy my new phone. I initially chose the GNex since it is cheaper and other stuff. I'm from india and i thought of buying it from ebay india.
Anyway now that LG nexus 4 release date is close(will it be released in india this november ??) i'm wondering if its still a good move to buy the GNex. I heard that the LG nexus 4 have 2 gb ram etc etc better specs than GNexus ?? Is that true ??
So, i thought of ordering Galaxy nexus this week. Is that a good choice ??
If someone could help me making my choice i would thank it very much
Thanks in advance
Use common sense....plus they pulled gnex from playstore
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Needing LTE or being on Verizon or any other CDMA network are the only two reasons to stay with the GNexus.
lolz.. with that spec and with that price and with you made it obvious... you still dont know the answer?? the spec are way too high than gnex. its a different case if already have a gnex, but since you didnt... oh well "go go for Nexus 4" lolz...
i'm a Nexus collector so i'm getting it while I can.

the price will most likely be similar to the gnex with minor difference..but the specs are better, so its better to wait and buy the n4 rather than get the gnex imo

We don't know if the nexus 4 will launch in India or not. Or when it would launch, if it does. Most people say it would likely be priced at 25k but no one knows for sure.
If you are willing to wait for more than a month for a possible release (which may or may not even happen) or are ready to spend over 25k to order it online and have it shipped, then the nexus 4 is a good choice.
The galaxy nexus is available right now for pretty cheap but it isn't as good as the N4.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
It would have been so awesome if they still offered the GNex for like $99 off contract, that would have downright incredible, but obviously would have cut sales from the N4.
Definately not man!!!! that price is amaaaaziiingngnngngnggn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Nexus 4 has a better CPU, GPU, more RAM, slightly bigger and higher resolution LCD screen, wireless charging, and larger battery.
Yet unless something happens to my Galaxy Nexus I'm not upgrading because I've decided there are two things I love about the Galaxy Nexus that isn't available for the Nexus 4:
1) AMOLED screen. I don't care that it's pentile. Maybe my eyesight sucks because I can't tell the difference between pentile and non pentile 720P screens. I can tell the AMOLED screens produce colors I like.
2) Swappable battery. This is crucial for me.
With that said... I wouldn't spend more than $200-$230 on a used Galaxy Nexus... because let's face it... the Nexus 4 is still a beast of a device for the money.
even im eager to buy one here in India.. but i think u shud see this http://pricebaba.com/blog/coming-up-nokia-lumia-510-lg-l9-htc-8x-one-x
Expected price is around 30k in India.. not confirmed though.. Saw in some italian blog too that even there its going to be priced around 550 Euros according to some credible sources.. so if it costs more than double the amt compared with US, I think getting a Gnex makes sense or ask some one to get it from the US.
we are always deprived of all good things in the world or shud pay a lot to get them.. sucks

If you are just concerned with storage get the old 32. If performance is more your criteria, 2nd n7 hands down.
Best thing, IMO is save 40 more bucks and get the new 32gb.
Then again if you wait A little longer I have a feeling the refurbished 2nd gen are gonna be plentiful, probably cheaper than the 16gb.

Get the new 16gb. I had a 32gb 2012 and now have a 16gb 2013 and am in love with the new one. I never used all that space in the first one that's my reasoning for buying the 16gb. I could have bought the 32gb new one but I don't need the space and I'm happy I didn't buy the 32gb. The new n7 is just so much better than the first that I can't see buying the first one if you can get the second.
We see you meow on our nexus⁴ can we haz some more?
Get the new one. 16gb of storage shouldn't be an issue unless you download a lot of movies. I had the 16gb 1st gen Nexus and space was never an issue.

Hi there, I'm thinking of buying the Startech.com SLMPT2HD Slimport adapter for connecting my dad's Nexus 7 2nd gen to his HD tv screen via HDMI.
I know that theoretically this should work but I also read that some of the available adapters don't work (well) in practice.
Can anyone on these forums confirm that the SLMPT2HD actually works with the new Nexus 7?
Thanks a bunch,
ries

I just bought this adapter and was able to test it today.
The adapter doesn't work for me either :crying:
I have an MHL adapter that I tried with my GNex to test out the HDMI cable and that's fine so I don't know why it wouldn't work.
The only thing I could think of is maybe my TV's don't support 1080p60 coming out of the device??? I don't really buy into that though as both my TV's say they do support that.

I also contacted Startech.com and got a quick and friendly reply that didn't help me much:
The SLMPT2HD adapter is designed to work with any device that are MyDP enabled.* The adapter has been tested on a number of phones and tablets I just can't speak to this specific one.* If there was known*issues with the Google/Asus Nexus 7 (2013) we most likely wouldn't have released it.

The response I got early this morning
Thank you for your inquiry!
There is no specific configuration of our SLMPT2HD required for functionality, it works as an external signal format converter.
have you confirmed with the documentation for your device that it utilizes a Slimport, and the steps required to enable external monitor output on that device?
have you tested our SLMPT2HD with a different model output device?
If you have any further questions, please contact us.

Yep... I wouldn't recommend buying this. I have to pay to return it, and they won't refund the money to me until they've tested it and if they say it isn't defective then no refund. Waste of $30 unless I can figure out how to get it to work on the N7FHD
Can vouch for $29 Analogix Slimport adapter (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DWGB6CU/) which I originally bought for the Nexus 4 vs the unknown Startech SLMPT2HD at $39.
The signal level for Slimport on the Nexus7 FHD is very low compared with the Nexus 4 and 5. Most Slimport adapters will not work with the Nexus 7 FHD unless specifically designed for it. Startech.com's SLMPT2HD has been re-worked to be compatible with the Nexus7 FHD low signal levels. The new stock is available now, so any new adapters ordered going forward will work with the Nexus7.
