Hello, I apologise if this is in the wrong section.
Today I decided to flash my rom, I decided to go for Dirty Unicorns. I transfered the ROM onto my internal storage and used CWM to flash install it. The ROM doesnt boot up, since I didnt copy any other ROMs onto my phone and since there is no SD card in xperia S I cannot put a different ROM on it to then flash it, therefore I'm stuck. Also if anyone would be so kind to recommend me a very good and nice looking ROM, I would be very grateful.
Thanks.
Hello,
I Think you should reflash the stock rom via SUS.
Then you could try the last build of PA 4.41 by Deedwar, it work well for me ( check last posts un his thread).
You need to flash the boot.img first via adb, then you could have TWRP for flashing the new rom.
This process work for some other ROM too.
I Think it failed cause you're using CWRP insted of TWRP.
Good luck

Hi there, I downloaded SUS, but there is no Xperia S on the list.
Try this for the official way (Sony) : http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/phones/xperia-s/
Or you can use FlashTool (http://www.flashtool.net/index.php), you can find a lot of help like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/general/rootmore-xperia-2012-line-flashtool-t1669906 or this http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/xperia-device-restore-stock-firmware-xperiaz-xperias-506415

The current Dirty Unicorn build is not booting up, You should have read that in thread. Anyways, You can still use the same ROM. Just flash kernel from here via fastboot using flashtool and then boot up, no need to flash the ROM again.
Using SUS or Sony PC Companion won't help since You have unlocked bootloader.
If You still want to try other ROM, download flashtool and flash the stock ftf(6.2.b.1.96)(search it on xda, You will find it) via flashmode. And then copy ROM to phone and flash the ROM. Note You would have to root and install cwm again.
I would recommend Carbon v10, pretty good ROM.

couldnt find a similar thread in the xperia arc forum
would appriciate your help......
if you need any other information, that will help you to help me, tell me what it is and i'll let you know
thnx
looks like you havent flashed any kernel if your still getting sony logo
flash the kernel recommended in ROM thread
connect phone to PC via usb while holding menu button and you should get a blue led on the side
bootloader unlock is required for this
also root is kind of important for all this so your best off figuring that out first
But if I already have The Stock kernel, why do i need to flash it again?

Have you unlocked your bootloader? If not, you cannot flash custom ROMs, most custom ROMs require you to unlock the bootloader.
Also some custom ROMs require custom kernels to work. Hence, being on the stock kernel just doesn't help

sounds like its the problem... what custom kernels do you recommend?
and how should i do it? flash kernel first and then the rom? or the opposite way?
i should mention again, that my bootloader is UNLOCKED.... but my device is not rooted, just cant seem to be able to root it... what do you think?

Well, the threads with the custom ROMs would generally have a kernel they recommend to be used with the ROM. Use that kernel. Flash kernel through fastboot. Generally first the kernel is flashed and then the ROM, but in principle it doesnt matter since the phone looks for the kernel only at the time of boot.
Root doesn't have to do anything with ROMs. Most of the custom ROMs available are pre-rooted, so by flashing that ROM, you get root access. Similarly, if you flash stock ROM on a pre-rooted ROM, you will lose root access and will have to root using other methods.
Happy Flashing.
Tell me if you could successfully flash.

As the tile says, I need some help, possibly a walkthrough tutorial, on how to get from rooted stock FJ12 to Dirty Unicorns 4.2 ROM on my SPH-D710VMUB (Virgin Mobile). I had it running fine at one point and then things got screwed up after I updated to 4.3 and tried making to modifications to fix some issues I was having, so I had to revert back to rooted stock. And now, for the life of me I cannot remember how I got there. Any new ROM I attempt to install via recovery throws an error (error 7 if I recall correctly) and will not install.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you mean DU 4.3..
Make sure first you're on an ICS modem...if not. Flash it in recovery on the tw ROM you're on now so you can update prl/profile..If you need a cwm recovery for the stock ROM you're on..Look in rwilco12 repo for a custom kernel with cwm for you're build..
This is how I flashed it..
Boot to cwm on current ROM...
Wipe data, cache, dalvik cache and format system
Flash DU 4.3...wait
When it's done...Don't Reboot..Go to advanced and pick reboot recovery
When new recovery comes up....do the wipes again
Now flash DU 4.3 again
Reboot when its done..
Let it settle for a few ...
Boot to cwm
Flash gapps...reboot..
Enjoy...:good:
Thanks. I'll give it a try when I have time in the near future.
The issue that I'm having is that recovery won't flash anything and just gives me an error every time. Is there a way to upgrade the recovery without switching modems?
Mobile Odin, PC Odin... You probably have the stock kernel, which won't flash anything.

Thank you for your help. If I continue to have problems I will continue the conversation later, but for now I'm going to try a touchwiz based ROM since battery life on stock seems so much better.
I'm following these exact steps and I can't get 3G nor 4G to work.
I used ODIN to get ICS stock rooted, then installed the CWM Kernel, and installed DU 4.3.
Any help here.. I've been going crazy for months trying to get this to work.

I've tried different scenarios of installing a different Virgin Mobile modems after doing a full wipe/cash/etc. I've also tried doing a stock install of JB (after trying a stock VM ICS) before i wiped and installed DU 4.3. I read somewhere that 3G and 4G for Virgin doesn't work on the new DU 4.3.
Hi everyone... I tried looking for the answer to my question but didn't find any thread that covered the information for latest firmware (Samsung introduces something new everytime!).
So, I was using Pheonix ROM v17 with the MJ5 Bootloader, and then installed Android Revolution HD 20.1 (I don't know which BL I'm now using)!
I never flashed a stock rom using odin or through some other source below.
Now I want to flash the stock rooted and deodexed firmware. The OP doesn't tell anything specifically about a bootloader. We have to flash the rom through the recovery.
My question is, that if I install that rom via recovery, will my bootloader change? Will there be any recovery issues? Will I be able to re-flash other roms like the ARHD? Please tell me, because I am experiencing some serious issues with the battery and I hope that a clean stock install would fix this...
Any help would be highly appreciated!

Recovery CAN NOT flash bootloader, so whatever you flash from recovery be assured that your bootloader will stay the same. The only way to flash bootloader is through ODIN or regular KIES/OTA update....
Thank you so much for the reply. I can finally flash in peace!

Guys, I just found this ROM a few days ago. It has some random reboots but it's pretty smooth. No more random reboots.
MOD EDIT: Link Removed for Warez Market app.
The original forum is in Chinese so I don't know what to link to.
Installation steps:
1. Wipe data/factory reset
2. Format /system
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash MoKee Gapps ->Link Removed
5. Reboot
If you want you can flash the ROM and then from the Mokee Center download the Gapps.
You have to use their gapps because OTA won't work then!

Does this ROM somehow mess up with the partitions of the phone? A Friend of Mine installed it, and He got a boot menu in his phone. The ROM worked fine, but when He tried to revert back to his backed up ROM, the twrp wasn't able to restore his backup. he was not even able to flash another boot.img to go to another recovery via fastboot or flashtool, and the twrp of this ROM is entirely Chinese! He was somehow able to restore to stock. Has anyone faced similar issue? Plus does anyone have any proper link as to the details of this ROM? The original site is in Chinese and even Google translate doesn't work on it properly.

For security reasons take a backup before flashing.

It must work in Italy.
The included recovery is from NUT, entering recovery still the same.
If you want to use xposed, you must it flash separately then. There is a special version for us here in the official xposed thread.
If you come from kitkat then I recommended you to make a factory reset in recovery and make a clean install.
