(Help) LG G3 (D855) is in boot loop - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had my set running on stock unrooted and was trying to install segoe UI font via ifont app. After I set my font thru the app, the phone rebooted and it went into a boot loop on the android logo. I tried to hard reset but it still went into the same issue of the boot loop.
What can I do to fix it?

that guy guided me through the whole proccess , online .
SUPER thanfull to him , now i know how to flash to stock

This solution helped me! I soft bricked my LG G3 D855 European version by changing a XML file for increasing highest allowed volume as the volume is very low on the LG G3 phone. It caught me in a boot loop and I found this thread.
This is what I did:
1. Removed battery and noted down the IMEI number of my phone.
2. Opened link: csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=XXX
(Where XXX is my IMEI number WITHOUT any dashes! -> Important or your link will fail). Link gave me a kdz file to download on about 1.2 GB.
3. Started phone in Download mode (Volume Up while inserting USB cable --> Note you need LG USB drivers installed).
4. Ran LG Flash tool and chosed my kdz file that I retrieved in step 2. Pressed START and ignored any warnings.
5. The phone downloaded the kdz file to phone and restarted twice.
All good!
Thanks sooo much!!!

Easy way to recover LG G3 D8550
Hey guys heres an easy way to recover the bricked / bootlooped LG G3.
it really is as easy as plug in and choose the update recovery after the phone is checked.
Love you all.

can you please explain what your file does?

Hi. Sorry i guess i was a bit too fast to post.
The file is an installer for the windows pc.
Please make sure that usb drivers are installed at least. The phone must be switched off and then started in download mode by pressing volume up while inserting the cable.
The installed program will then check the phone and probably say that the phone is fine. But then you have to choose the "update recovery" option in the application.

Same exact thing happened to me as the OP. Tried following suljo94's steps and it is not working. I've installed, deleted and reinstalled the drivers about 5 different times and all of them install fine except for the Android MTP device driver. It fails every time, and the LG PC Suite won't recognize my phone. It's on download mode, it's up on the phone screen and everything. Tried unplugging it and replugging it from both phone and computer, pulling the battery, using a different USB cable. Nothing works. Uninstalled and reinstalled LG PC Suite too. I really would rather do it this way because I don't want to lose all of the stuff on my phone, but I've been trying to figure this out for 3 hours now and I need my phone. I am seriously at my last nerve before I say screw it and just use the LG Flash tool and wipe everything. Which I really don't want to do =[ Does anyone have any other suggestions to get the PC Suite working?

[GUIDE] [E980] Fix soft bricks. Flash back to stock using LGFLashTools

I realized there aren't any guides [in English] around here to help rooted folks that soft bricked their LG PRO to restore it back to factory settings. This should be useful if you got your phone stuck on the AT&T or the LG logo. Especially now that we don't have an unlocked bootloader or a recovery to reocver our soft brick.
Anyway, to start, a little disclaimer: I hold no responsibility if this method renders your phone completely useless, or burns and makes some nice fireworks. I'm simply writing this to document the process that worked for me. Use at your own discretion.
Dislcimaer 2: this method will wipe out your internal sdcard, apps data, everything! It'll restore the phone back to the way you got it from AT&T. Might even lose your cell unlock status (not verified). so keep these unlock codes handy just in case.
Note to linux users like myself: get your a** on windows or run it from a VM. VirtualBox with Win7 works fine.
Steps:
Download
1. LGFlashTools v1.5. Anything less won't work. Mirror: HERE
2. DLL file for LGE980
3. Drivers
4. The stock image file
Thanks to IOMonster for hosting these biga** files.
Install
1. Install the LG drivers downloaded above.
2. Install LGFlashTools v1.5 (but don't run it)
3. Extract the DLL and the TOT files from above and put them in a nice tidy directory
Drivers initialization
1. Put the phone into download mode. (Turn off device, keep pressing volume down while plugging in the micro usb cable. If this doesn't work, try holding both volume keys instead)
2. Let the phone initialize and install the drivers. Once done, in Device manager, you should see the LG phone listed under COM ports (something along these lines).
3. Find that LG entry in Device Manager, click on Properties, Advanced and then change the COM port to COM41 and close/save.
4. Unplug your phone! Important step.
LGFlashTools
To get this tool to work, you'll need to do a few tricks.
1. Set the computer's date to some time in July 2012 or before.
2. Disconnect the internet
3. Find a serial number or register key from somewhere on the web (a google search for lgflashtools serial will yield some results). Can't help you here and please don't share any keys in this thread or get us in trouble.
4. Execute the LGFlashTools. It should ask you for a key, put it in. Now you should see a dialog where you can load the DLL file and the TOT files that you extracted earlier. Put them both in here. Click ok
Flashing
5. There is a yellow arrow on the top left. Click on it to initialize the process. Once done, it should say "ready/finished" or whatever.
6. Put the phone in download mode again, and plug it into the USB port. LG FLash Tools should start flashing it automatically. When it's done, it'll automatically reboot into your stock AT&T rom and all of your data and internal sdcard files are gone.
Profit
Thanks again Mac !

Thanks .... great info!!!!!
Nice. Hopefully they sticky this.
Welp, just bricked the phone again but was able to flash the tot... very simple and quick lol ur the man mac
this worked perfectly fine for me. i 1st tried it on w8 but after plugging in the e980 and letting the drivers and such install, it did not show up under com in the device manager. in fact, there was no com section. it did show up under devices and printers and i tried and could not find a com setting there. i went ahead and tried to flash but since i could not change to the proper port, the flash tool never found my e980.
so instead i just did it all on a w7 box, the device was listed under com, and i went along with the flashing.
thank you.
Think this will fix the bricks that are happening when they try to mess around with the bootloader?

My friend just bricked his and the wi9ed the system. I can get ir into download mode for him but thats it. I tried recovery mode but trying to do that or boot regularly it just shows lg the an android with the spinning symbol on it the lg again then lg 2 more times and just stays there. Can this be fixed with only download mode? Again I plugged it in and im not sure its being seen by the computer.
Make sure you have the drivers installed and use pc suite to get back the firmware

Pc suite? Do you mean lg flash tools? I downloaded it but it wants me to log in to use it. I havent found a log in for it yet.
Download lg pc suite it have lg flash tool in it
Then you search a little in menus for firmware urgence recovery something like that and if it don't work try update in the same menu
And if all of that didn't work I'll find you a link to flash a kdz

Reboots to recovery only
Ok, I flashed the recovery in this post using the dd method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43460298&postcount=208
The value pack was trying to download on my phone and instead of cancel, I pressed install. Now the phone only boots into that recovery. I have everything from the op downloaded, but instead of download mode it only boots into the recovery, any ideas?
When it boots up, It says the following for a couple of seconds:
Code:
Secure booting error
Cause: Device Unlock, so boot success!!
Edit: Got it into download mode by holding down both volume keys and plugging into usb. Thanks!!

I'm glad you got it resolved! I just edited the OP with this information.

Bricked my phone :(

I have the ATT model of LG Optimus G Pro E980.
Today, I rooted my phone and everything went smoothly as it usually does. Everything seemed fine until i tried flashing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428207
Now I can only boot and get a LG screen and then it just turns black. I got into download mode maybe once or twice but I can't repeat it and the device doesn't seem to show up on my computer either way. I booted into CWM maybe once by smashing keys and it just randomly popped up but its also not repeatable . Any suggestions, I'll honestly try everything.
Thanks

4) While you are pressing the buttons with your hand, plug the usb cable to the pc with your other hand.
5) You should see phone gets into download mode (DOWNLAD will be written on the screen)

9) After your phone is seen by the pc, choose Upgrade Recovery from Options.
10) It will check the FW from internet by using the imei Number of the phone or you can enter E988 and your serial number manually
11) Then it will download the FW and recover your phone. It will take time according your connection speed.

[Q] Wont enter download mode! Phone stuck in boot loop.

After downloading the new AT&T update yesterday my phone (No root) went thru the update process and completed and then restarted itself and ever since then has been stuck in a boot loop on the LG logo screen. Was going to do the flashing procedure but when I try to boot the phone in download mode the little box appears saying "download mode" but instead of the "firmware update" screen appearing shortly after that my screen just goes black again. Have tried every port using the stock chord on my computer (Windows 8.1, USB 3.0) and have tried every port on another computer (Windows 7, USB 2.0) and still the same thing every time. Have installed the proper LG drivers on both computers but still fails to recognize the phone correctly under device manager as well.
ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED!

Update to lolipop went fine it was this update that enables VoLTE that screwed it up. I cant post link because I am a new member but google it and you will find it.
But yes pulled the battery out first to end the boot loop and thats where the original post picks up from.
Sometimes to get into Download Mode:
Remove Battery.
Press Volume Up.

Before I even start just gonna let you know you have to flash the phone back to the stock firmware meaning you will lose anything saved on your phone but this is the only way to get it back functional.
Pre-requirements
1. Stock LG cord that came with phone
2. Desktop computer with USB 2.0 ports (3.0 wouldnt work for me)
3. Disable driver signature enforcement (Depends on OS as to how to do this so just google it. Takes just a few minutes)
*UNPLUG PHONE BEFORE STARTING*
1. Download and install the QDLoader HS-USB Driver here: http://www.androidbrick.com/download/qdloader-hs-usb-driver/
2. Plug your phone in while holding volume up to initiate "Download Mode" and it should now show up under "Ports" as "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008"
3. Download and extract this: https://www.drive.google.com/file/d/0B_Hol5T47S-bYjNETmVPZkdWUms/view
4. Now download the stock fimware files (the .zip and .dll files) here: http://downloadandroidfiles.org/directory-php/?Directory=/LG%20G3/Stock%20Files/ATT%20D850
5. Extract the .tot file out of the .zip file and place it and your .dll file on your desktop.
6. Now open (be sure to right click and run as administrator!) BoardDiag which is located in the BoardDiag_V2_9 folder you downloaded in step 3.
7. If you need pictures to follow along with the next few steps go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/tool-unbrick-lg-g2-qualcomm-9008-board-t3072073 and see the Attached Thumbnails at the bottom of the first post.
7. At the bottom under "Image Extraction" place the .tot file in the BIN field and make the DIR wherever you wish the files to be extracted to and then hit "Extract" and wait for process to finish.
8. Now under "Board Diag Test" check the boxes beside "AP check" and "EMMC TEST"
9. In the right column make sure "B2 (MSM8974AC)" is selected in dropdown "AP Chipset"
10. On the "Com Port" dropdown select the COM number your device shows up with in Device Manager.
11. In the "Target Dir" type the destination where you extracted the .tot file to in Step 7.
12. Click "START" and wait for process to finish. If the test passes the AP check and the EMMC TEST then you're good to go. If not then im afraid you have a hard brick and I cant help you there.
13. Uncheck "EMMC TEST" and check "RESTORE BOOT IMG" under "Restore Device"
14. In the dropdown beside "RESTORE BOOT IMG" choose the following in the order typed and hit "START" after choosing each file letting it flash the stock file to your phone: aboot--Backupgpt--boot--dbi--laf--Primarygpt--recovery--rpm--tz--sbl1
15. Your phone should now have the LG logo and underneath that say "Security Error".
16. Unplug your phone and pop your battery out and back in. Now plug your phone in while holding volume up for "Download Mode" and this time it should display the "Firmware Update" screen after a few seconds.
17. Now that you have the Firmware screen this guide will help you get your phone software back up and going (THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED A USB 2.0 PORT): http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html
Good Luck!!
Imporatant: If the OTA update boot looped your phone like mine DO NOT apply any OTA updates your phone tells you to apply because the same thing will happen again (Trust me I tried it)
craincrizzy, much thanks. Well written. I finally got the phone up. Good to be back in business. Thank you a million times again!
Good to hear. Glad I could help.

Your boot loader is broken. Gonna have to get to the down load mode and reinstall either the or the stock. You can probably flash the recovery with .IMG file with lg flashing tool. Nerdy blond's twrp is one of those files that you can use. You can even try installing it first with the adb shell command, you can get the instructions at the same place where you download.

Thank you for replying.
I cannot do anythings since I cannot enter into download mode.
I pressed volume key + and - and insert the usb cable to computer. There is nothing happened, computer dose not show the devices attached and the phone stay in the LG logo screen.
Also, I cannot use adb commands to force the phone enters into download mode as it shows nothings under "List of devices".
Is there any methods I can go into the download mode???
Thank you!

If your phone shows LG start screen, it should go into Download mode. I had similar problem few days ago while I was testing some kernel patches, it just froze on the LG screen. Solution was to unplug it, remove it's battery, SIM & SD (you don't have to remove SIM & SD, I just work that way) , make sure it's off, return battery back, press Vol + & Vol - at the same time and plug-in the USB cable.
Before that, make sure you have installed LG Unified driver (can be obtained via LG's software from support site), because without that Windows won't recognise your device.
After that, once you make your phone usable with Freegee/whatever you use to install initial recovery, flash official TWRP, because others are too old - that Philz CWM is old but still working with Lollipop but not work good and is tends to lock itself into a bootloop if you use hardware keys to enter; that other one, from GPRO_recovery APK is not supported and not working well (for me since day one), so it should be replaced as soon as possible.
Also, I can suggest you to flash your phone from stock 4.1 (not KitKat), root, flash recovery via freegee and after reboot update to latest official TWRP via Flashify.

Thank you for your detail reply.
I have tried to reinstall the LG driver and try to enter download mode again.
The screen is still stuck on LG logo and I cannot find the device in hardware manager (cannot recognize it).
I cannot do anythings until it can recognize it.
(Is it the bootloader is broken? and can I fix it?)
Thank you very much and waiting for your reply soon.:good:

Which version of Windows are you using? It should be displayed under Serial ports in Device manager (named something like LGE Serial device) and LGFlashTool should recognise it immediately. I can't make you a screenshot/check for real name because I'm running Linux right now and can't reboot.
Also, try with another cable/port, remove all other android drivers you may have (Samsung's, Google's...) and disable antivirus.

OK, it doesn't enter download mode. So, step by step:
- remove battery and leave it for 15-30 seconds, return battery
- press Vol+ and Vol- at the same time and keep them pressed,
- plug USB cable in while keys are pressed
It should immediately put you into download mode, with no LG screen, just black screen with gray box and red text I've described to you.

So, whatever you try to do, phone just shows LG logo, not even a message in an upper left corner?
I'm running out of ideas. I have exact same variant (E988) but only time it didn't want to enter download mode this way was when cable I was using was broken...

welp, i tried to install custom rom ( which need to download the rar and paste it into INTERNAL) but i accidentally paste it to my SD card. Then i start to install it.
Then i said it's uninstallable, I just restart my phone and everthing went normal buy my wallpaper screen turns black and unable to read it tho USB ( Just the standby screen shows wallpaper)
Then my brothers came out and said that all you need to do is format it again and reinstall. We tired countless times . But then it have another option which above Format everything but not bootloader and another is Format everything and bootloader.
Then my bro press it and ... It became bricked.
it's still warrantyable so .. I plan to play dumb to the warranty company if I can't fix it.
( even if i play dumb idk what reason I need to come off, if i say yesterday the battery from 70% drop to 0% then it unable to open again )
PS: before this happen my battery happens from 70% drop to 0%, after charged. it's fine
PPS: give me a good excuses to play dumb C::
Wait, wait. How did you format the bootloader? No recovery should have this option! The only possible option to hard brick the P8000 is to pull out the USB cable in the exact moment when the SPFlash Tool writes it. So, can you elaborate a bit more about what you've done? I'm pretty sure you're missing something.

Hi,
I did something similar with my HTC Desire 616. I choose "Format All + Download" option with SP Flash Tool. The phone soft bricked. Later I tried "format whole flash (including bootloader)". It's still soft bricked...
Is there a way to revive my phone back??? :crying:
I had the same problem - but it is possible to set the phone to a special bootloader mode called META mode - see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3TmXtOA0IA
To do so you have to open the phone and disconnect the battery. You can find a howto easily on youtube.
Then set up everything to flash the phone (SP-Flashtool, scatter file, etc.) and push the volume down button while connecting the phone to the computer. This switches the phone to META mode, the computer can recognize the phone, installs the preloader driver and finally flashes the phone
Maybe you have to do the procedure twice because on the first connection only the preloader driver will be installed.
This worked for my P8000(B) which I treated with SP-Flash Tool and "Format All + download"
Be aware that you formatted the NVRAM and lost your IMEI's

Tecno spark 3 pro clone flash file mt6570 android 9.0 firmware
Hi
I need your assistance, please help me find the firmware for the above phone. I recently tried to flash it with a Spark 3 clone firmware i got online but it gives an error STATUS_PARTITION_NOT_FOUND and also i accidentally formatted the bootloader on SP Flash Tool so the phone is a brick, it can't charge, and it can't turn on. I have screenshots of the About section when the phone was working, which contains the phone's features model and build but on opening the back cover of the device, i realized its a clone phone and i cannot determine its real model to get the exact right flash file.
Thanks
