Try un-mounting the SYSTEM partition from the Recovery's > Mount menu before installing.

Please help me...
I think that rom manager still have no support for xperia arc,and you cannot flash recovery that way.
You need to unlock your bootloader first, then to follow tutorial from your link.
if you need more help, just ask
thanks Chobby

install clockworkmod
and download the zip file from cyagenmod10
and install clockworkmod deste. but get an error in version (LT26i)

1. This is a question. Use the appropriate forum.
2. You need an unlocked bootloader to install CM10.
3. There is a guide directly in the CM10 thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780338
4. There's also a video:

Hi ...
I have Xperia arc s (LT18i) I have rooted it and downloaded rom on it (Xperia Ultimate HD™ 2.0)
and every thing worked perfectly ...
then I installed Font Changer to change system font ..
I tried few fonts .. but when I tried one of them (it always ask to reboot) the phone got stuck at xperia logo ...
I tried few solutions (reinstalling the ROM, wipe dalvik cache, wipe battery stats, Wipe data/factory reset)
and every time I reboot nothing change ..
then I tried to do these things (format /system, format/data, format cache) and then reboot ...
the phone got stuck on sony logo and been unable to run CMW ...
so if any one have a solution I will be so thankful ...
flash stock rom, root, install cwm and install xperia ultimate hd.
Don't install Font Changer

sorry about the bad link
Yes you can use that, but you must flash this kernel after you flash that stock firmware to root.

The download link is fixed
Link to all official firmwares: http://forum.android.com.pl/f308/oprogramowanie-dla-sony-ericsson-xperiaa-arc-s-147007/
By the way, you can not root .587 you have to download .562 or like mentioned before just flash 562 kernel, root and then flash back to 587 kernel. But I think easier should be to download .562 firmware and then just root.

The easiest method is with an unlocked boot loader, install 587, flash CWM'd Kernel, flash Root.zip, done.
