use rootdim app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.pruss.superdim
your phone must be rooted, there is no app for non rooted phones as it need special permission for brightness control

If you are rooted use
XPosed -> Gravity Box -> Statusbar Tweaks -> Enable brighness controll
Adjusts brightness by sliding over statusbar. Best I think....

thanx guys...planng to root now..u think using mobogenie application will be the easiest way? no boot loader unlocking nothing ...just a one click root thing...ive done it once on my old nexus 4..root checker did showed 'you have root access'..any comments?

It will definitely NOT work. To root, you will HAVE to flash a 'Superuser' ZIP via a custom recovery, which REQUIRES an unlocked bootloader (atleast till now).

I usually don't advertise, but I used Lux Auto Brightness for a while now, no root required and it is just perfect. Set it to " Adjust On Wake" and "Auto Day/Night mode", adjust the right brightness for the current time and ambient light situation a couple of times and you have perfect screen brightness (bellow zero brightness possible) for the current situation at no battery cost.

I think you would have to lower the screens voltage below what the manufacturer has intended to achive that. I don't even think that would be possible without a moded kernel or something ... and not sure if that's worth the extra 20minutes of screen time...

it might be because of:
1. you have auto brightness on. autobrightness on gingerbread is not that great.
2. you're using Cyanogenmod7 and have that slide status bar to adjust brightness.

Nope, auto brightness is off. Not using CM7 also. I don't know why. I think it's because of the cable is loose, I'm not really sure.

Sony tried telling someone else the same thing! They keep trying to blame it on software, even though the slider cable is a faulty design and should be recalled. Revert to absolute stock, and tell them after restoring it the problem persists and you know for a fact it's hardware.
It's really starting to piss me off that they're trying to blame a bad design on the users!

what u might wanna do is download voltage control and see if it isnt effecting ure speeds performance, alot has to do with overclocking and upscaling and downscaling when u do roms specially if uve installed kernels with OC on it. make sure that settings are corect, like governor section is to this category
500000 SA
90-95 for UP
10 DD
4 SDF
0 for both INL and PB
1 to IIB thats normal upscaling to governor
also make sure that ure settings arent set to low other then ondemand, or powersave, best once that seem to help are ondemand and msm-dcvs if voltage supports it. second section should be at cfq.
, if that doesnt fix it, u might wanna try a different rom if that doesnt fixes the problem, other whize u gonna have to odin back to stock do a factory reset from ure phone not the CWM do it 2 or 3 times, and re-try again and see if that fixs it.
Im not a dev so im not a pure expert at this but i go by how my phone functions with every rom i flash and the performance it gives, ive found both Phantom blaze and paranoid android roms seem to be the best for me. i switch back and forth to each other because i like the phablet mode on paranoid, and smooth and impressive battery life saver on phantoms. No kernels, other then what already comes with, except for the 2100mhz load krnel that supports for paranoid android,. seriously battery killer thought if u OC it to 2100.

either u might have a faulty GS3 or ure software installation went utterly wrong while updating and messed up somewhere in the middle of the installation. did u get it updated already or did u get it when it was using lg2 modem?
if u got it with the LG8 modem, try odin it back to LG2 or lower, and update from there, see if that helps.
u dont need to worry bout ure flash count going up because samsung software doesnt count on ure flash count no matter how many times u flash the Stock modem.
Um idk what that means. All I know is I have everything updated via updates and every S3 does this if it's stock. This is my second and it does it to. Set the picture frame widget or flip board widget medium to your home screen then do a nenamark

humm,...couldnt tell yah, if uve never rooted ure phone and are using stock software u might have a faulty gs3 with faulty software, ive never had my gs3 mess up on me on stock rom before i rooted. Ive had my GS3 non-rooted for about 3 weeks updated and all and no issues, no slow downs, only issues ive had was 1: my friend breaking my phone, 2 battery life, and not being able to store ure apps to ure sd card, all which was an easy fix with rooting and making my buddy get me a new phone.

Well I would personally think there's someone who knows how to fix this.. visually there's no difference. But after nenamark once I remove the widget I drop to 30 fps. And it stays that way. Its like it was mention above, there really isnt anything any of the devs can do, if ure not rooted, and ure arent operating under a custom rom, ure pretty much using stock base software which only has to do with normal built development done by samsung, they should be ones u should be contacting not the devs here.......they only deal with phones with root and custom roms to make the phone better. Now u could try rooting ure phone and installig a custom rom to see if that does fix the problem, in most cases like ures, only thing to do is take it in to a sprint store and have it inspect or do it ureself odin it with a earlier version of modem, best 1 would be LG2 modem and update from there and see if that changes anything, i can garante u if u do take it to sprint they might charge u to inspect it again, and all they gonna do is odin ure phone from an earlier versions.

If you're stock non-rooted, then after a factory reset, there's nothing you could have done to mess this up.
If you go to a sprint store, they can reflash your stock software and see if that fixes the issue. It takes about 3 minutes, and in my experience, they've been very courtesy and helpful.

Try opening the settings>apps>launcher and clearing the cache and deleting the launchers data.
Widgets are stored in the launcher apps data, so clearing these values should put you back to default settings.

First two points are not disadvantages. They are just features not added by Sony.
Disadvantage is only 1080p recording for me.
Battery life is amazing so no need for stamina: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42046505&postcount=1646
Only disadvantage is 1080p video recording, and shutdown time which is a bit slower than before. Everything else is improved compared to ICS.
The camera has always been like this. Learn to use the advanced options to take better pics.

ICS did not have encryption at all. With JB, my corporate email required phone to be encrypted confused not sure why. But the damn thing does not work. No progress.

Nope. The fundamentals are the same. Extended Standby Mode blocks all data to your apps after 10 minutes while Stamina Mode let you choose which apps to block or not block. Other than that, there's no differences.

Performance wise the firmware is great, but they did not fix the bugs that we found on the first leaked version.
For e.g. Default keyboard settings does not hold up after reboot, i have to set up SwiftKey everysingle time i restart, also, admin privileges for a specific app are also not being saved, my kaspersky antitheft simply does not work because of this.
I do not understand why myXperia was not added.
When the leaked version came up i really thought sony did a nice job, but the more i use, the more it seems that they released it just to shut our pie holes
Do you guys think these are fixable on a custom rom?

Theres nothing you can do about it , its a feature in the kernel called brite and it happened on the S4 also. A dev is gonna have to make a kernel with it disabled. Its there so when the phone gets warm or hot it dims the screen automatically until phone cools back down and then full brightness comes back. There have been a couple threads on this already and i even took my first Note back and exchanged it and the second one does it too. Its software related hopefully samsung will release an update to take this feature out

you wont see much or any power savings from switching to a lower resolution..no matter what the resolution is your display is still having to drive all X amount of pixels that your display physically contains. get a lower power screen usually lower res ones will be lower power and thats about the only way. dimming helps too. just a few notches dimmed from full/half can make a world of difference. all the pixels will still be lit regardless of resolution used

Assuming you are right, there is still much battery savings from lowering the resolution because the processor doesn't need to push as hard to drive the lower resolution.
I've lowered mine and definitely saw a difference.

huge picture...sorry.
Anyways, on 83% battery life, been using it today streaming music and browsing while at the office.
Im getting 2.5 to 3 hours screen time from 100%to 50% with auto brightness.
