So I rooted my Lg G2 just fine, I've done jailbreaks and such in the past and consider myself tech savvy. However after trying to install a custom ROM on my phone, I got these white lines to where I couldn't see my screen. I found a fix for it and tried to conquer that myself as well. As I proceeded to flash a jdi kernel onto my G2 to get rid of the white lines and lack of display, I got an error and put myself into a boot problem. When I turn my phone on, I get a secure booting error everytime and my screen goes black. I have tried countless times to use the hard reset feature but I cannot get the it to come up with pressing with volume down and power buttons. I can't get into download mode either. My screen goes black within seconds and just sits there. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE.
Please.
I really need any sort of help or direction. I've tried everything I can think of.
How did you try to go into download mode?

Greetings, here's what I did, I booted my phone into download mode by pressing and holding the volume up button, and quickly plugging the usb cable into my phone(make sure it's connected to the computer), wait until the device is charged at 100%(you will know it's fully charged when you see something like this "B100", turn off your phone and hold the power button and volume down button at the same time until you see the LG Logo, once you've seen the LG Logo, QUICKLY press and hold the power button and the volume down button at the same time adain, and you should boot into recovery mode.[emoji4]
If you made a backup of your previous Rom, you can now restore it.[emoji106]

Hey guys.
So I got this Galaxy S II SGH-T989D from my friend, he just gave it to me.
Anyways, I think it is soft bricked. When I stick the battery in, it turns on, displays the samsung logo, then says Koodo with a loading bar underneath. Once the loading bar is complete the screen just goes black, and the device will vibrate every 2 seconds.
Don't really know how to reset this.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks!

if you can go download mode please flash a stock firmware for t989d and flash it using odin.. get the stock firmware from samfirmware.com if u wish.. goodluck
Thanks Ill try!
Okay when I try it put it in download mode, it displays the warning screen about installing a new firmware blah blah, and then before I can do anything the screen flashes, I see blue and then it just goes back to a black screen and vibrating.
When all else fails I suggest opening Kies on your computer and selecting "emergency firmware recovery"

Sounds to me like a power button problem, not a firmware problem. Could be wrong, but the black screen and vibrating sound like the tell-tale symptoms. Check this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1931310&highlight=power+button
There are many, many threads about this.
Okay so I took the entire phone apart and removed the power button. I tried booting then, and it still does it.
So it is definitely not a button sticking issue
Same issue
I'm having the exact same issue. I've also disassembled my phone and have ruled out the button issue. All fix guides I've encountered thus far require the "volume up + volume down + power button" boot method which is non-responsive on my phone. It continues to vibrate every two seconds. The furthest I get is have halfway through the Samsung load screen before the screen goes black.

it sounds like it might be a bootloader problem, I can't seem to find the thread right now but I know i just saw it on here that a guy in oregon will reset you bootloaders for $25(you pay for shipping), but there was a few people on there also saying that he had done a great job fixing theres. he works for a shop that repairs mobile devices, you should look through the general and q&a for bootloader issue threads i know its in there somewhere.
Hello there, I was installing Recovery using this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746682, I only went up to the first part of unrooting the phone where it asks me to connect my and install te recovery, my phone after the root did not want to turn on. I tried using the Volume +/- along with the home key, nothing, it just vibrates and nothing. I tried pulling out the battery and the same thing happened, no matter what I did, it vibrates and won't turn on. Also when I hook it up to the charger and try turning on it vibrates and it keeps vibrating in loops, around 2-3 sec apart. What is wrong with my phone? Please don't tell me it's a brick, I just got it yesterday ;p

I think this kit is honestly the easiest way to brick your phone. There are simply too many options, most of them have no real use for this phone, and the free version never gets updated. Honestly think it's a bad move for people who are new to the game.
To get in download mode:
Start with the phone off.
Press and hold the home button and volume down button.
Press the power button until the phone vibrates.
Release the power button.
To get in recovery mode.
Start with the phone off.
Press and hold the home button and volume up button.
Press the power button until the phone vibrates.
Release the power button.
Release the volume up and home button when the blue text appears in the top left corner of the screen.
If these won't work, you are bricked. Time for JTAG.
I agree 100%. That kit seemed pretty helpful for some when this was still pretty new, but recently it seems there are more reports of failures (or worse) than successes. When you get this fixed I suggest reading all the stickies and then take it from there.
Good luck

Hey guys I have a relatively new Samsung GS3. I've been using it with a custom rom for a few weeks now -- no issues. Today, using the Facebook app, my screen went black and now it doesn't work. I can turn on my phone -- it vibrates and it shows the menu and back buttons lit up, but that's it. My phone boots, but the screen does not work.
I figured this is a pure hardware failure and I'll need to contact AT&T. However, I have a custom ROM and figure they will refuse to service the phone due to said ROM. Can anybody help me?
I imagine I have to use Odin to flash a stock image, right? But I can't do that without seeing my screen. I hold volume down, home and power and try to put it into download mode -- even hitting the up key after doing it a few times -- but when I plug into my computer. it looks like my phone is on and not in download mode. :/
Please advise, with a much detail as you can.
You can use an mhl adapter to mirror ur phone screen on a monitor or tv....
Hi
My Nexus 7 recently ran out of battery and as per usual, died.
When i plugged it into the charger, I thought it would charge and be ready to use again.
After several hours, nothing happened. No display saying it was charging, nada.
I then went to power it up into recovery mode, by holding down power button and volume down.
This then seemed to 'reboot' the system and I now see a droid with a red triangle and the words 'No command'
Having a look around online, people have suggested holding down power button and volume up.
Whenever I do this, the screen goes blank, the Google logo appears then the same droid with a red triangle appears.
I cannot seem to get past this step.
Has anyone come across this before and if so, how I do I get past this and actually use my Nexus?
Thanks

It's a little tricky actually. You shouldn't have to hold the power + vol up buttons for very long. The most important thing is that you have to make sure you push them at the EXACT same time. I kind of figured this one out on my own when I was having issues flashing a custom recovery.

When I press them at the same time, the only thing that happens is the screen goes slightly darker (i.e the icon becomes less visible)
I've pressed the buttons together so many times and nothing happens.
I tried to get back into recovery mode using a bootloader from androidrootz.com. I managed to get back to the step where i can select 'Start, Recovery Mode, Power Off' etc I ran 'Recovery Mode', which then rebooted and I go the same icon. I can't seem to run the program again though, so I'm still stuck with the lying down droid

Were you completely stock when this all happened? What bootloader from androidrootz.com? If you can flash a bootloader, why not flash the factory image?
Sorry, charesa39. Just as you'd posted (I'd posted same ). I'll just add it can be tricky. Maybe try power first then continue holding while hitting vol +. You do this when you're at the fallen Andy screen.

I also had some problems to access recovery. Finally it worked after many tries. So far i remember you have to press the buttons not too short and not too long ;D... perhaps 3-4 seconds. Then Release one of the buttons and the second one half a second later. I don't remember which button i released first, but there are only to possibilities. Hope this helps... in my case the recovery appeared.
Hi,
I just got my G3 today and entered 3845#*XXX# to switch off thermal throttling. I happened to see a test mode and clicked it. My phone reboots into a MiniOS with lots of options. First option is the only one which I can interact with using the touch screen and it is an automatic test of the touch screen. Volume keys do not work.
On pulling the battery out and powering on, it boots to the test mode.
Tried recovery (Vol- and power key) confirmed the prompts, the phone switches off after showing the little android loading logo, flashes the LG logo and boots into this test mode(MiniOS) again.
I thought the test mode will be like something that HTC and Samsung have, didn't expect it to be like that. Kindly help! I've been searching the internet but haven't found a solution to this. I spotted some other threads for another LG device that happened to automatically go into this mode but those tools and methods won't work here.
Thank you.
Edit:
I found a thread on xda for the G2 with the same thing that's happened to my phone. Unfortunately a solution wasn't posted there. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535768
It's more accurately called the All Auto Test
Edit2:
In searching All Auto Test on Google i happened to come through a link which might have a simple fix (if I'm understanding the members English right)
It says to press the power key on the LG logo and a prompt will ask if you'd like to switch it back to normal mode. I'm gonna try this once I reach home. Link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2613404

I switched on with power key, left it when the LG logo came and hit power key again, but that doesn't work. It goes to miniOS again.
Unlike the G2 mentioned above, I don't have a notif bar on top and I don't see a wallpaper and navigation bar.
Okay, I figured it out. Thanks to member goldenfish
So what he means is when in ATT mode, only the first option is selectable by touch, to select the other options you hold power key and then tap the options. So there was an option which makes the device turn "MiniOS> Normal Boot". I did just that and my g3 booted *phew
It's all stock now tho, maybe because of the factory reset I tried earlier, but at least it's out of the damn thing!

I am stuck in minios on my lg g3 d855 and can't get out using the instructions you supply.
could you please elaborate on what to do and what you mean by 'touch' while holding power.
I have tried everything and can't seem to bring anything up to touch, to be able to normal boot out of minios :crying:

If your phone keeps booting to the miniOS, you;d see a bunch of options. Now when trying to open/access an option only the first one will respond to your touch. Others will just show a crosshair where you tapped on the screen. To open/access/activate other options you need to hold the power key first and then tap the screen. This will allow you to access a option called boot(which switches your phone from miniOS to normal boot)
I was stuck in this stupid mode messing around too. Thanks for the tip on how to get out!
Please help me

Another idiot stuck in test mode
I was in Europe and my LG G3 kept shutting off, so i got a new LG G3 855 while traveling.
Worked fine in Europe.
When i got home, i noticed i didn't have 4G showing, so, like a fool went and tried to become a techie......:crying:
So where i am ....
when i boot the phone, i see the LG logo, then it goes into a minios logo with 5 blue arrows.
After that wherever i touch on the screen is just a red circle with a + sign.
I have seen folks talking about getting into a minios menu but all i see is the red +
any magic out there?

You should be able to simply hit the Power button, but if you're on a frozen screen, press and hold the Power button, then select "Normal Boot".

Try holding the power button down and while holding it down choose the option you want in the menu. Should take care of your problem
select normal boot with touch then hold power botton ...voila exit
