What is your favorite TW rom? Your favorite aosp based ROM? Just curious because I've not had this S3 very long and I'm trying different ones out. Thanks in advance.
Sorry guys ROM comparison threads are not allowed on XDA. XDA is however about feeding your flash addictions. If you want to find the best ROM I suggest flashing and testing them until you find the one that is right for you.
Thank you,

Hi, my friend just bought an ATT GS3 and I am going to root and install a custom ROM this evening. Any feedback on most stable and fastest TW ROMs? I run CleanROM on my Verizon version, so looking for an equivalent. I will search to, but would appreciate anyone's feedback. Thanks,
Please search next time. There are already multiple "which is the best ROM threads."

Quick question, since I can't exactly find this with search and haven't seen it in any forums, what happens with some of the stock functions after flashing a Rom?
Specifically, I'm wanting to flash Pac-Rom (all-in-one), but I'm not fond of sacrificing the stock smart screen functions, especially smart stay.
Does anyone know if these functions will still be available? And if not on this Rom, do you know of one that it still will be available on?
Thank you for your non-trollish answers in advance.

None of those functions will be available if you flash any of the AOSP/AOKP/CM roms.
The only way to retain all those special features found on the S4 Tmobile phone is to only
flash those custom roms which are based on the S4 Touchwiz Jellybean 4.2.2 firmware.
You will not only loose those features and functions which you described, but you will
loose many others as well, including wifi calling.
Sometimes it's not easy to tell if a custom rom is AOSP/AOKP/CM because a lot of the
developers fail to make it clear that their roms are AOSP/AOKP/CM in their opening
post which describes the rom and it's features.
If any roms require GAPPS to be downloaded and flashed you can be sure that it's
an AOSP/AOKP/CM type rom.
Good luck!

Greetings. I'm coming from an Epic 4g touch. I was fairly comfortable rooting, flashing, tweaking, etc... on that phone. I just convinced Sprint to give me a "free upgrade" to the S3 because I went through 4 E4GTs in a year (lots of build-quality issues, I think I had them all...)
Anyway, the S3 I was given is a refurb ... how do I find out if it's one of the "newer" models that might have trouble with some flashing operations? If I do have one of the newer ones, is there a way to work around the issue? (From what I understand it's something with the bootloader, correct?)
Also, the S3 "landscape" is a little different here. Are the Odin one-clicks a good way to root on this phone? Also is this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2286241) a good way to go if I want to root from my Mac? I also have access to a windows machine if there's no "good" Mac-based way, but it's a clunky old laptop that makes me cry whenever I need to use it.
Finally ... as someone coming from the E4GT, is there anything special I should know about hacking around with the S3?
I've been poking around the threads quite a bit, but it's a little difficult to know what's current info etc... Thanks in advance ... can't wait until I know as much about this phone as I did with my E4GT.
Ok here the two major links your going to need.
Here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34579827
Also all your questions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38172219
also there's nothing changed in the bootloader but the new S3's have some type of safety placed in them that do not allow custom recovery to mount storage. The link I gave you has the modded recoveries when you root. To find out more information go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44262749

Awesome, thanks ... successfully rooted. Figured I'd try the TWRP recovery option since ... hey might as well try ALL the new things.
Ok, now which ROM is most stable and has the best battery life? (woah, woah, put that down I was just kidding)
Seriously though, what are some kernel, rom, tweak combos that folks seem to be having success with? I see you guys have Goddly's comadose over here, I used that with great success on the E4GT. Is there a favorite "close to stock" but debloated, mildly tricked out and tweaked ROM that folks are gravitating toward? On the E4GT, Tdundam's recalked was pretty popular ... anything of that ilk here?
I've also read that some folks have been having trouble installing AOSP ROMs ... is that demon exorcized by rooting with the procedure you suggested?
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to be a guidepost ... just trying to whack my way through the weeds on this new device.
Nope aosp won't flash on new S3's but you can try. lots of good roms I recommend either TPR the peoples rom or MOAR. My kernel of choice is Ktoonsez KT747 kernel and I use Comadose tweaks. Have had great success with it but also visit Team Kernelizers thread also.

Flashed MOAR yesterday ... waiting for it to settle in. So far, I like what I see! Lots of flexibility.
I installed with KT747 and applied some of the kernel tweaks in his thread for the ktoonservative governor and bfq scheduler.
I'll wait on Comadose to see how this settles in on its own. Thanks again for getting me flashing this phone.
QUESTION: Where's the best place to watch for AOSP being compatible on this phone again?

Glad you got it going. The thread with the modded recoveries will be the best one to follow in regards to when something happens. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44262749

Hi there, I'm new as galaxy note user and I saw a lot of custom rom. I'd like to know which one is the best custom rom for you for the p600 version.
Thank you so much

You are not going to get an answer to that question on XDA.
1. "Best rom" is a personal opinion
2. People are not going to claim a best because it kinda takes away from some devs who put a lot of hard work into their roms.
Download the available ones and try them all out. That's your answer.
The best advice we can give is to try a few and see what works for you. Different set ups give different results. Even with the same rom. It's why we don't allow comparison threads on xda. Our devs out in a lot of work to give users choice.
I've closed this, but enjoy trying some different builds.
