So I downgraded from 4.3 to 4.1.2. Everything works normal except IMEI which is and incorrect number. I backup my efs partition with my modem and restored it, and yet, it still fails to change to the correct number.
So I re-flashed stock 4.3 and IMEI came back again. When I went back a to 4.1.2 second time, the problem persists. What am I doing wrong???
SOLVED: Updated modem partition.

I used this guide to restore my IMEI number:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29514187
Was on CM10 flashed back to stock via Odin. Then used the guide.
Managed to restore my IMEI number and even flashed a different modem.
However, I am still stuck on EDGE data for some reason.
Phone calls and text messages are still functional.
I have no NV backups or anything...
Help?

Plz tell me what is the proper way to backup & restore imei properly. how to prevent imei............ now i am scaring to flash my phone to custom rom...............i need help..............
Okay, so a little background first- I accidentally format the /factory folder due to which my phone lost the IMEI number and couldn't register itself on the network. I have got that problem fixed from a local shopkeeper, though not sure what he did. Now I have a working phone with stock jelly bean ROM but whenever I switch the ROM, the phone loses the IMEI again and I have to restore the backup which I took after getting the phone fixed. I am able to flash new kernels but not the ROM. Is there a particular folder/file which I should restore from the backup after flashing the new ROM which would keep the IMEI intact?
I've been having issues with my E971 on Rogers ever since I tried to flash an E975 ROM on it some time back. The phone is unable to connect to the network and shows 'Service Disabled'. I am unable to manually add an APN or search for networks. If I take the SIM out of the phone it shows my IMEI but if the SIM is in the phone it shows as null.
I used a KDZ to go back to the stock Jelly Bean version of Android and still had the same issue. I thought it might be an issue with the modem so I rooted the phone and flashed houstonn's Rogers JB modem and still couldn't solve the issue. If I flash the ICS modem on the 4.1.2 ROM I'm able to connect to the network but WiFi doesn't work. I tried installing various different AOSP based custom firmwares and was able to get data using the ICS modem but again no WiFi. Using the JB modem on an AOSP ROM would give be an external modem(undefined) subsystem crash. At this point I got my hands on a stock ICS bin file for the E971 and flashed it using LGNPST. On 4.0.4 both my data and my WiFi worked so I backed up my EFS manually using adb and ran the OTA updates on the phone. Unfortunately once I had updated to 4.1.2 the network stopped working and once again I got the 'Service disabled' messaged. Manually restoring my EFS didn't solve the issue.
It seems that for some reason my phone is unable to work with the JB modem. I find it odd that after restoring to stock the OTA would end up breaking it like that. I'm not sure if I'm backing up and restoring the EFS wrong or if the phone is just broken in some way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I rooted my phone, flashed twrp as the recovery, then proceeded to flash cm12. Something went horribly wrong, and I had to flash back to factory stock to get it out of its boot loop. Now tho, the baseband is unknown and the imei is null/null. I do not have a nand backup of any sort. Is there a way I can recover the efs folder to make the phone a phone again instead of a small tablet? Wifi/BT still work just fine. Never had this happen with any android phone before. Thanks
Just Odin back to stock.....everything will be fine
THanks, had to flash it twice with odin for it come back to a working state. Dont know whats up with it still as mms still doesnt work even tho all my settings are correct. Off to the local cell office, but at least I got cm12 flashed, and the gps, sms, calls, cell data all work.
