Today I found something interesting.
My first N3 was a white 900T, the back had no stampings and the home button was the one that could shift and look un-even, basically what all note 3 have. My N9005 was also this way & my 900P too.
Today I received another 900T which took some heritage from the NOTE 2 & has the silver living with the same kind of button used in the N2 that could not slide around and makes it tighter. This one also has the body stamped with device model # in the plastic unlike any of the other N3 which did not. It is also now Stamped TM in grey on the bottom. The Blacks are also not as sharp on the new N3 screen is more washed out but barely.... But I dont know if that is the glass screen protector or not.

Can you post pics of what you're referring to please? It's hard to tell what you're talking about just from your description.
Also, my Note 3 doesn't have a problem with the home button shifting.

some home buttons can develop an issue where the corners go limp and also. If you put your fingers to each side of button you can wiggle it pretty decently. But this note has the style from note 2 has 0 wiggle like all the other note 3 and looks nicer

if you take your battery door off does the plastic on the bottom say 900t and some numbers? And also stamped TM? It would be to the right of the metal square. Theres an N2 pic ill take n3 one soon.
I tried to knife it off incase it was a sticker but it turned out not to be.

Now that you point it out, my Note 3 does have info stamped in two places under the battery cover. On the bottom in the center to the left of the silver square it says N900T_#1-3 and it does say TM under that. But also on the top right, next to the SIM slot, it says N900A/T#4-1. I wonder what those numbers mean.
But my home button is pretty secure besides it moving up and down when I press it.

Its most likely just factory stuff so workers can know which pieces go on which revisions. I guess some models are special snowflakes since they are so close together it was probably built in unison at same factory. Others like 900P did not have the stampings....nor did my first 900T.
The button thing is just....plain weird though
Isn't that a pic of a Note 2? The bezel looks like a Note 2 and the it doesn't look like a 3.0 connector either. The 3.0 connector is about as wide as the home button.
Looks just like this Note 2 to me.
Droid Life Note 2
Have you seen a note 3, check the picture. tell me your self the difference.
Did...nobody notice "Theres an N2 pic ill take n3 one soon."
Sorry no, I guess the "theres" through me off.

I love it
fits perfectly
only problem is it covered up the red led
so u would need to drill a small hole for it to show throw
but the kickstand is great
has raised edges so your screen will be protected in drop or a slide across the concrete
come in variety of colors, but I got red/black

How's the case with accessing the edge of the screen, like pulling down the notification bar, soft buttons and dragging icons or widgets to other home screens?
I had the seidio active case on my inspire 4g and it was a pain trying to drag stuff to a new homescreen because the case was so close to the edge of the screen.

yeh i used to have a sedio and it was tough too
but see the siedio border goes straight up
where you see the red part its like at an angle(not straight up),so you can hit all the sides of the phone
pull down is easy
the case comes real close to the captactive buttons below, but you can easily tap above it to hit the buttons
I saw this for 10 bucks on ebay and was wondering if it was decent quality. I should have picked it up but picked up a tough case for 20 instead

Looks nice but I don't like how close the bottom comes to the capacitive buttons. Mine are the most sensitive toward the bottom so I think I'd be hitting the case all the time.

yeh i mentioned that, but you can actually hit slight above the buttons, and it'll still registered. The sweet spot is not limited to the height of the buttons. (also that piece thats close to the buttons as well is slightly angled so you can overshoot the button easily (and still make contact with button to work)
But its sturdy and actually the selling points for me was the color combo, and the kickstand
Great find! I've been on the market for a case with a kickstand and really like the look of this one. Does the stand also allow you to place it in landscape? Or does it only stand it up in Portrait?
It looks nice. A landscape kickstand would have been better for me but definitely not a deal breaker. May go ahead and try this one out.

I just spotted a very tiny black dot above the earpiece on the bezel (not the screen) on my note 2; like a mark left by the tip of someone's permanent marker at the China factory. It only looks prominent at particular viewing angles and lighting conditions. This might vary from device to device. Is this normal? Am I being too anal?

I see some dark spots, lines in the screen... really strange... only noticeable on very dark screen... is like your description... like a black marker on the backside of the LCD... you will never see it unless you have your screen completely black an know what you are looking for...)
Well, I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the bezel. My AMOLED display is perfect, no blobs, lines, vertical / horizontal lines, no tint whatsoever; I am extremely happy seeing a flawless display compared to many Note 2 Verizon and AT&T owners that complained about the dark spots you are talking about. I don't have them at all.
I just have a tiny mark on my bezel which appears to look like it was done by a permanent marker. I don't see any dent. I don't know if this mark is an imperfection, or if I am just being too anal. What do you all think?

Lol, sorry for any misunderstanding, no attitude intended. I bolded the word bezel in my last post because it seemed like you were talking about the display in respect to my device, lol.
Could it be that I am being too picky about a tiny mark?
I have the same thing on the top left bezel and on the right side bezel. But I really can't tell weather it is an imperfection, indentation or what. But like you said its only visible under certain lighting and at certain angles. But since I am OCD, it just drives me crazy knowing that they are there. I'll probably end up getting some kind of case that has a thick lip to cover the bezel area (the Seidio Active case) just so I will not be able to see those spots when using the phone.
Thank you very much for your acknowledgement. Its safe to say this is normal then. It doesn't seem to be an imperfection. There is no dent, and I can see the chrome in those areas as well. May be a little bit too much chrome. These plastic phones definitely deserve a case, no doubt. :good:
looks like other XDA members are more concerned of the phone's performance over aesthetics, lol,
Cheers

After receiving my new Note 3 a few days ago and setting it up I hadn't even really used the s-pen until yesterday. I noticed that vertically down the middle of the display from top to bottom there is about a 1/4 inch area that the s-pen 'avoids' or 'skips across' when swiping it from side to side. At first I thought maybe it was just the pen tip, so I replaced it. It's hard to explain but the effect I get when hovering it across this area is almost like a magnet avoiding another magnet, it jumps across in front of itself (the dot) and will simply not work properly in this area. Let me try to explain like this: If I were drawing a line on the screen from the bottom left corner to the top right, when I get to this 'magnetic' or 'dead' area the line no longer becomes diagonal but skips up vertically then jumps across to the other side of the dead spot, then lets me continue drawing the diagonal line to the top right corner.. Make sense?
From what I read on howstuff works, the waycom stylus and screens work with some sort of a magnetic field, which would explain why the effect i'm getting is like holding two magnets with same charges they repel, if in fact it's a defective area on the magnetic field under the glass surface.. (Howstuffworks Source)
Is it the wacom layer of the display? I am not using a magnetic case or anything else of the sort. I debated calling T-Mobile and trying to explain this to a customer service rep, and I figure it will be near impossible to get my point across. I am considering just going to the T-Mobile store down the street and trying to get a replacement.
Is anyone else experiencing this phenomenon? Test your screen with the diagonal line test and see for yourself. I'm curious as to this being a rare defect or a more common one. I'm considering putting up a video because it's so weird..
Edit: I have attached a screenshot to display the dead area that the line skips across sideways.. with the action memo, draw something 2 and sketchbook to diagram the avoidance area on the screen

Well I called and explained the problem to the tech support rep. Thankfully they were also an owner of the note 3 and were sympathetic to the issue and understood what I meant. Replacement on the way, hopefully the original post is helpful to others experiencing odd problems with their spen and display..

tips should have been included with your note 3. You just pull out the one in your pen, and push in a new one. simple.
I've disassembled my note 4 and after putting it back together there were two strips on the screen where the spen couldn't write after *#0*# and testing wacom layer it turned out it didn't work (in those two mentioned strips).
Apparently the adhesive (the dumb manufacturing engineers at samsung) used for securing the glass in the frame prevented the gorilla glass from properly aligning on the frame. After I heated up the glass and clamped it to the frame for a few minutes the wacom layer started working again!
Apparently the layer doesn't work/has difficulty working properly when the glass is skewed/not aligned (or sth). Thought I share this in case sb else had a similar issue.
I have a nice circular spot in my screen that is a dead zone for the pen. Works fine for touch input though.
Just for future references, if you go to phone keypad and type *#0*# you will get diagnostic screen with various tests of all the hardware inside, including Viacom test and spen hovering. This may not work with some custom roms.

It didn't work with Dominion rom. Ended up getting fixed with the battery pull I did to get my new SView cover working.
Possible fix
For those who still own a Galaxy Note 3, and have either a GPS issue, or this s-pen issue, (I had both simulataneously) this video (although in another language than English) Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 bad GPS Signal SOLVED (can't post vid link because XDA thinks it is potential spam since this is my first comment ever here) is what I did for GPS fix. At the 5:10 mark, or so he is gently levering up those little connectors/stems. They don't make good contact. Earlier in the video he shows how something gets disconnected. That's obvious. On the other side of the phone) is similar connectors/stems. I did the same thing to those.
I put it all back together. GPS works and s-pen dead spots are gone. Also, I blew clean ports and the board with photo air blower. Forgive any wrong terminology.
Hope this helps someone.
Hi there,
I've just received my smartwatch 3 and love it, however I've noticed there's a ridge at the top of the screen that I can feel if swiping down the screen. Swiping up it feels smooth at the bottom of the screen. It's almost as if the top of the screen needs to be recessed a bit more.
Anyone else experience this?
Thanks in advance!
I do not experience this myself. Sounds like a manufacturing defect for sure.

it has been discussed before, but it seems that there's no definite answer...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch-3/general/screen-dropped-t2973182
I actually don't mind it has stop the glass from scraping on thing a couple times.
I think it is because we pull the top band down and connect it to the lower band.
Talking of which, I actually do not like the band. It is a cross between a metal and leather band. In that a. it isn't metal and b. it connects like a metal band, and if you catch it on your trousers/shorts/pockets/other it opens. It is one of the reasons I prefer leather/regular bands. Now, if they had a cover over the mechanism, that would make a world of difference.
It's definitely a defect, I took mine into an affiliate Sony store and they agreed that it was no longer how it should be.
Unfortunately as I didn't buy it there they wanted to charge me to send it back to Sony so I didn't bother.
Screen moving in and out the case at push/hard touch
I have just bought mine and besides the disappointment that AW isn't even close to what I could do with the SW2 I realized that when I touch harder or slightly push the screen at the top (10:30 and 1:30) it goes in almost 1 mm, at the lower end (6 o'clock) a little less. I have tested it in water at the sink jet and so far so good, but I'm still thinking if I should return it because it could affect some of it's properties (IP68).
Could you please take a look at yours and let me know if your screen also moves in the case at heavier touch/push?
PS: mine also has the ridge at the top and a little at 3 and 9 o'clock
No movement on my screen, send it back. My first one had a broken strap out of the box but the replacement has been rock solid
Yes there is movement in the top left corner, I can also use a suction cup to pull the screen out to where it was but it doesn't stay there.
return with no exchange
hi,
I have returned my SW3 to the shop, they had another one there (with which they offered me to exchange) I checked it for the same defect, unfortunately that one was even worse: I could see the glue at top left corner and when pressing it at top right corner the screen was bending in the case creating a 2mm gap; not touching the screen, it was a bit higher that the case's edge.
so no smartwatch for now, hope to find a good one soon.
how are your hanging? anyone else bought it from Netherlands?
experiencing same issue, it was totallly smooth, but now the edge is sharper. I assume it affects the waterproof, so lets see what sony will say. (bought it directly from their site as preorder back a few months)
Update: thing got replaced, not the band, just the watch... Seems fine now. However now I have the band slightly damaged on the two right corners, metal is coming through the plastic....
Hi, I d not believe.... Sony has really hard issue with his watch
yet with the SW2 the screen go out from the frame
I send it back at Sony repair but the new one has same issue

After watching the teardown video on the YouTube. It looks like the screen is a little bit smaller than the frame for engineering tolerance and easier desassembly.

It could be for engineering tolerance and easier disassembly. But It could be possible by heating up only the edge. Dont need to heat the middle part. Actually he starts disassembling from the edge.

Got 2 new phones, also the gap is there, also i already noticed even at bottom right where fingerprint is little hair got stuck there where screen flushes with screen..
