As most others, I love my new G3, but I have one annoying problem. Whenever I set a default app (like home launcher) it keeps forgetting it, and gives me the option every time i press the home button, a link etc. I have cleared cache, wiped, swapped dalvik with ART, wiped again, rebooted and so on, and nothing seems to help. Does anyone have an idea for a possible sollution, or should I just RMA it?
Cheers, Trond.

RMA-ing it won't help as it will be a software issue. But I cannot say I am having the same issue.
If it is only a software issue, it isn't that much of a problem, as I will root and install a custom rom as soon as custom recovery becomes available. As of now, the phone is fully stock, no root, stock launcher etc. And it's the international 32gb version.

This happens a lot. Is this normal? If so is it a ram issue with the phone? And is there anyway to improve that?
I haven't got around to permanently rooting my phone I have the stock OTA but if it can fix this somehow I will definitely do it. Thanks in advance

You mean when you press home your homescreen reloads and apps reappear in a few seconds? Seems normal as of now. Running CM6.1.0RC1 still happens. Haven't found anything to really fix this.
Root and overclock problem solved. Zoom zoom

Same here, when I overclock more than 1 g that problem seems to go away.
I used to have the same problem with the good old G1. Back then I thought it was because if not enough memory. Enabling "lock screen in memory" in launcherPro or AWD solved the problem. If you are not using them, run to the market and download one if them. No root needed

Yea I press the home button and my apps are invisible I guess and it last like 5 to 10 seconds and it happens a lot like every other time I press home.
Well in that case ill try to get around to rooting it.
launcherpro seemed to fix the problem so far thanks.

I'm overclocked at 1.1 and still always experience this problem. Also locked home app in memory in CM settings as well as enabled system persistent and still no fix for me. It's not bad, homescreen always came back. On my myTouch when this happened they'd sometimes just stay gone.

My myTouch stopped as soon as I enabled system persistent and enabled compcache.
Setting my mhz to the lowest number in the screen off setcpu profile seemed to take care of that problem for me, but it only happend to me when I was overclock to 1400+ and only when i unlocked the screen.
The app keeps on opening , clicking and then crashong. Restarting and doing the entire above sequence again!

Anyone? Please this makes the phone almost unusable!
Give us a little more info;
Are you using a stock ROM? if not what modifications have you made?
Does this only happen when you run the app or does it happen from cold boot?
Is this happening every boot? Have you tried clearing cache or resetting to factory settings?
Unfortunately this is the only option I can think of which should definitely resolve this.
Stock Htc 1.72 no root
I cleared camera cache and have rebooted multiple times
How would I back up all my data, themes ansa apps?

So every time I flash I wipe data/cache/Dalvik/Battstats. I was using CWM2 for a while and when every ROM continued to slow down and lock up I tried upgrading to CWM3, narrowing my ROM choices but not solving the problem. Whenever I flash, my phone will return to it's snappy self for a varying amount of time before crapping out again. I've tried Sense, AOSP, Evo, and Z ROMs and all behave the same for no apparent reason. What am I doing wrong? My phone used to be lightning quick, I sampled many ROMs and kernels without incident, only experimented with OC briefly, and all of a sudden it's gotten painfully slow no matter what i do. Please help me make my Incredible, "incredible" again
Is it still slow on the Stock ROM? If you haven't tried that already, I would try that. It's possible something else may be wrong with the phone if you've tried many different ROMS and all do the same thing. Do you have all the same apps installed as well, or are they different for the most part?
try fixing permissions
Try wiping your SD card and when you sign in your gmail account don't let it restore all of your apps. Setcpu is also a good investment if you have not already purchased it

will i need to re-flash my ROM after doing this?
Nope, doesn't delete anything.

This seems to have fixed the problem, thank you so much.

Actually, on closer inspection, the permission fix only temporarily stopped the issue. I even switched to the nearly stock Nothing Special Peanut ROM and I still got a FC from Sense. Is my phone a dud?

How are you restoring apps? I would wipe everything and flash a fresh ROM. does it freeze up now? If not, my $$ is on a rogue app that doesn't like playing with your phone.

Hmm I just flashed OMFGB w/o restoring my apps. The only things I've installed are the Google Apps, Google Voice (which is my primary method of communication), XDA, and SetCPU. The fcs seem random, not tied to any particular action. They even happen when I'm not doing anything on the phone. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help everyone.

update: I think the problem stemmed from using the SetCPU widget with the refresh rate set to 5 seconds. Not sure if changing the setting makes a difference, but removing the widget from my home screen has solved all the issues insofar. We'll see if it takes this time.

setcpu is always a "use with caution" kind of app. you can get great results, but it's mostly educated trial and error with your rom/kernel combination.
I have an issue with an HTC Evo, I woke up this morning and the phone didin't had my information. Contacts, media, downloads, widgets and icons are gone, all of the phone screens are blank. Any idea on why this happened or if anyone knows how to fix it. Any help will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks!
Are you rooted? Custom rom? Have you recently installed any apps?
Same thing happened to mine about a week ago, phone rebooted out of nowhere and all home screens were blank.I just reset up each of my homescreens and its been fine ever since.Rooted,Original Engineering Hboot,Froyo 2.2

No, device isn't rooted, no custom ROM's. No recent apps installed.
I had to start over from scratch and put what I wanted on each screen.Hit the plus button at the bottom of the screen and add what you want to each one ie shortcut, widget, app etc.If widgets are actually missing from the widget menu, first try a reboot and if they don't show up you'll have to do a factory reset.

Has anyone found any problems after the update? I'm all stock, and I've found that my Google maps will stop responding while using nav, and once it's does that the phone has to be restarted before it works again. Also when using nav, if someone calls me, it will stop nav and I have to go back and start again even if I don't answer the phone.
Also YouTube will lock up now and have to be restarted and even have had issues no recording video via camera and issues with playback, all go away after restart.
Any thoughts??

Did you factory reset after the update? I did so even after it wiped everything.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747
No I didn't. You mean just to default everything or to do a full wipe and restore?

I'm not saying a factory wipe, which is a full wipe of data, will help. It is a recommendation and as good of a place as any to start of you have verified all of your app settings. To do so you can go into settings and factory wipe there or go into recovery mode and do it from there. Just keep in mind this will wipe your internal sd card and installed apps and updates. I doubt putting everything to default would help.

I see they just updated maps again today. Another issue is if someone calls you and you don't answer or ignore, the nav app closes and you have to restart the whole process instead like before where it went right back to nav screen after calls.
