Hi all, I'm currently having issues with almost any AOKP ROM I am downloading. So far I've run PAC MAN, SOKP, and Google Play Edition ROMS and have run into the same issues across them all, so I am starting to think it was the way I've rooted my phone or a setting that I have made. My camera app keeps closing with "Unfortunately, Camera has stopped". Other apps randomly FC as well. Apps like Snapchat work, but not while using the front camera. I downloaded Google Camera and that app still FCs before I can use it, just like the stock cameras.
I am using a Samsung Galaxy S4 for T-Mobile. I rooted using ODIN, using CWM via Rom Manager app. My KNOX settings are 0x1. Does anybody know how to fix this? I did full wipes between each ROM, and this has been happening ever since I installed a custom ROM. Maybe some settings in CWM?
I have tried looking up the issue myself, but I have not yet found a solution to the issue. Also, I am a noob still, therefore please forgive me if this is a redundant question or if I ask you for further explanation. Thank you, please help me
Try running fix permissions in recovery.

I tried rebooting into recovery via Rom Manager, it doesn't even do anything once I click reboot. And so I ran fix permissions from Rom Manager and rebooted, still nothing. Would anybody happen to know the default mounts? Maybe it has something to do with those? Again, I'm a noob so I have no idea. I try to boot into recovery by holding down volume up + power + home key, and nothing happens. I've also tried booting holding down just volume up + power, still nothing. Maybe I have to do a complete re-root/reset of my phone? I downloaded a TW based ROM as opposed to AOKP, but I can't even get into recovery at this point. Is it a SU issue? Please help
Did you happen to use GooManager?

Use GooManager to see if you can get into recovery, if it doesn't work see if you can get into download mode and reflash firmware with Odin

So I rooted and flashed my phone with a pre-rooted version of stock 2.2, installed a power saving mod and enabled move any app to sd (adb), installed loads of apps and it worked fine.
I've just gone to install a new app from the market and I can't get it to work. Anyone know of a fix?
Thanks
What app? Did you try clearing market cache and data? Tried rebooting your phone? If not, read and search first, post later.

Hello,
I rooted my Evo with Unrevoked a few weeks ago. However, my phone has been experiencing major issues. When I shut the phone down and restart it many of my links to programs are broken. I try to download the programs again but i get error messages that the download can not be completed. I have flashed different roms. I have updated the Radio etc. I cleared the data and cache before each flash. I have no idea what the problem is. Can anyone help?

What. Rom and kernel are you experiencing this on? When you say links to programs are you referring to apps?

What programs? please say more about the phone system.
Thank you for your quick replies.
I have flashed Calkulin and MikFroyo. Using the stock kernels for each.
When I click an app it will not open. Like when you uninstall a program on windows and the link to program remains but it will not let you open it because the program no longer exists. "app no longer installed" it also changes the icon to the market icon.
What recovery image did you use to flash the Roms?
Let me double check
Please try to use Amo-Ra is the best. Cm is known to have problems.
So flash this and report back if the problem persists? Thank You

You can actually flash it with Rom Manager App.
It sounds like your phone is not wiping correctly... maybe try caulks format all

Do you have a nandroid backup of your system with your apps? If not, did you restore your apps with something like Titanium? If no to both, you'll need to re-install from the market.

I'm having some problems with cyanogen mod, and this deals with all versions. I cannot install a single app without it force closing on launch, and I cannot get Gapps back without it causing a boot loop.
Am I missing something? I don't have these problems with other ROMS but I really want to give cyanogen a chance. Someone help! Lol.
Now titanium backup works. I just kept opening it and force closing it. But everything else still does not work. I think its time to smoke and dig on my phone.
Pointers please!
Have you tried fixing permissions in rom manager?

I was having the same problems with the newer versions of cyanogen. I just went back to a stock 2.2, re-rooted, then did a complete wipe and install and haven't had a problem since.

I ended up fixing it. I had to fix permissions on ROM Manager and on ClockworkMod. But now I can't use market, Gmail, or any Google related app.

I've seen people mention using titanium backup to freeze the device manager or updater app. Something to that effect.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
thanks but i don't have a clue what that means.
i installed Kies on my pc to try and find the download and "push" it through with Odin, but Kies tells me my firmware is good.
i have NO idea where to dl the newest OTA from T-Mobile and then i'd have NO idea how to push it with Odin.
help, someone????
Titanium backup is an app from the market. With it you can uninstall system apps, or simply "freeze" them, meaning they are still there but no longer allowed to run.
"Device management" is the system app that's notifying you of the available ota update.
So, to answer your original question, download titanium backup and use it to freeze device management in order to get rid of the ota notification.
All this assumes of course that you are rooted and running a custom ROM. If you aren't on a custom ROM, then I wouldn't understand your wanting to avoid the update, as it appears it doesn't affect your ability to root, and may not even unroot your device.

I've had mine frozen for a couple days to avoid getting that notification, and haven't experienced any fc's or other problems.

i wasn't trying to avoid it, i was originally trying to install it, but Clockwork wouldn't let me; a couple people in here tried to offer 'halfway' help, but stopped answering my questions, so i mainly just wanted to get rid of the nag, since the mod i flashed got me to 2.3.6 anyway.
turns out that Perfect Backup let me clear the Device Mgmt data, and that got rid of the nag. so i didn't have to pay for Titanium Backup (can't freeze stuff unless you pay for it).
so the resolution is that once i'd flashed to 2.3.6 the OTA was just in some kind of cache, i guess, and all i had to do was clear it.

i just went through the exact same problem. go get Deodexed KL1 (i think it's a stock ROM) and it'll do what the new update is going to do, flash you to 2.3.6.
flash the modem, too, with Odin (KL1 modem) and then find your Device Management 10.* and Clear the Data using Perfect Backup (free).
i was unable to get rid of that nag/notification until i did that.
there may be other ways of Clearing the Data for Device Mgmt - maybe in App Manager. In any case, when i cleared the data the nag was gone.

Flash Mr X's deodexed stock rom. the rom your device downloaded is designed to work with your phones stock recovery and not with clockwork mod. X's rom works with CWM.

Thanks guys. I should have waited for the hint. I ended up resetting the rom and it fixed the nag. So clearing the cache would probably fix it too and save me a lot of reloading of apps and settings.
[Q] Stop OTA for Samsung GS 2 on T-Mobile
Hello!
My wife has a rooted GS 2 with the stock ROM from TMO. I am concerned that the new OTA (T989VUVKL1)might break her root functionality, cause repeated update notification, or cause her phone to no longer work. Does anyone know the app or file I need to freeze or delete to stop the OTA from happening? At this point she is also getting the notification to update (eek!) At some point I will want to upgrade the ROM to the newest one assuming I can keep root access. Thank you for all your help and support!
Freeze device manager.

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to find out if anyone else already experienced the same issue than me. When I'm uninstalling an app via the system app manager, it takes more than a minute to uninstall it (even small apps - few kb). This happens on every rom or kernel. I formatted my sd-card and removed it as well without success... I have no clue what to do or what causes this problem. I hope ther is someone who can assist. Would be great... thx in advance....

So I returned to Stock Firmware and tried again to uninstall apps ... it seems that on stock rom everything is working fine ... I could uninstall them very fast ... it took just one or two seconds to uninstall an app.... But when I turned back to a custom rom ... the issue returned back ... that's a little strange ... what can I do ... now...???
To be honest, I am out of ideas. Which custom ROMs are you trying?
I used a lot FXP CM10... ultimate hd... lxp cm10.1 & 10.2 and others... lupus kernel, fxp kernel etc... as soon as Im using a custom rom, I get this speed problem...
