I was thinking to buy LG G3 32GB with 3 GB ram but now I heard that there is going to be a version with snapdragon 805.
Is it worth to wait? I am placed in front of a dilemma - Please help.
What do you think? Are you going to wait for the new version or not?
There might not even be an 805 variant. If there is, it might not even be for your region.
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
This question pops up every time a new device comes out, whether it's a different manufacturer or an updated model.
If there is an 805 model coming soon, by the time it arrives, you'll be wondering about the G4 as that will be in the rumour mill. Next comes the G4 Prime, G5.....
If you want the device, buy it. You can always sell it if you really want the new version If and When.

The issue is that you're sacrificing performance to use that QHD display. To get the performance we're used to in a snapdragon 800/1080p setup, we need the Snapdragon 805 to get the same level of performance with a 2K display
I don't mind using a Korean model. I will wait for the 805 variant. There's supposedly some model numbers that have been leaked that suggest an 805 is coming. But you know how far mobile rumors are, so it could go either way. The 'S5 Prime' came out 2 months after the S5. I can wait 2 more months for the 805 variant of the G3

Well firstly, the Adreno 330 fully supports 2160p, it's being used in some UltraD TV's running at 4K. The Adreno 420 is going to offer improvements, but then so is the 808 and the 810...etc. That's the point, why not wait for the 64bit Snapdragon 810
The Galaxy F/S5 prime is still a rumour. There's still no official announcement, let alone a release date.
You could wait 2 months, but there are no guarantees that it will be available by then, if at all. Maybe you could wait 4 months. By then I could have sold my G3 and be ready to purchase the next big thing.

I didn't know the LTE-A was so much of an upgrade, and in all fairness that's not the rumoured Galaxy F/ Prime, which has different build materials. The LTE-A just looks like a 'rushed out of the door' job so they can say they released a QHD model at the same time as LG

Hi, im about to purchase the wifi version and id like to know if its the 2.3 soc or the exynos one. Also, does the Exynos utilise all 8 cores simultaneously? If its not, does it worth paying the premium and get yhe 2.3 variant?

wifi model is only exynos . i think that it doesn't use 8 cores simultaneously !
as far as i am conserned it is better to get the 2.3 snapdragon varriant for sure!
Im so on the fence for the p600. I also found out that it cant be rooted withut voiding the warranty. And thats a deal breaker to me.
Many people are joining xda on daily basis. Some of them join the forum to get custom ROMs while some join in order to get some of their problem that they are facing with their phones solved.
There are dedicated threads for ROMs but what about HELP/QUESTIONS??
People generally straight away start a new thread to get their doubts solved. But this can lead to chaos in the forum.
I'm creating this thread as an alternative to *New Threads* that aim to resolve a question.
Not only this, this thread can also become a Database kind of place where people can look if their question is already solved or not...
I request all members of the ASUS ZENFONE 2 sub-forum to help and answer some questions posted here if they can.
I hope you guys get the idea behind this thread...

From where you got the info about the prices? Or is just a guess? I also think that the high specs version would have the price of 299.
Anyone knows how are these processors with the battery life.?

Benchmarks report the higher end one in zenphone 2 is comparable to snap Dragon 805. Not sure about battery efficiency.
In terms of real world performance, the Intel CPUs are very satisfying. I have a very old CloverTrail CPU in my Venue 8 tablet, and it feels just as snappy as the Snapdragon 800 in my phone, even though the 800 blows it away in benchmarks.
The big question is how is the ROM and dev support going to be for this phone.

So since I am new here and found this thread I had to ask..
I am intrigued by the Zenfone 2 but I like the Oneplus One as well..
I am an iOS user (got really tired of it.. ) and I am going to switch to Android.
The advice I've been given is to search if there are going to be custom ROMs and support before buying a phone!
Is there a reason to wait for the Zenfone 2 over the Oneplus One?
(Planning on using a custom ROM so it will have "pure" android (propably CM, dunno still searching) )
Thnx in advance
Considering the specs on the ZenFone 2 are basically the same as all these 7-10" Windows tablets, how long before you think before we see full Windows 8.1/10 on the ZenFone 2?

Having owned the OnePlus One and a Note 3 with CM11, they are both very nice. I have a good feeling about the ZenFone 2 though. More "open" hardware. You may also look at the Lenovo P90 (much bigger battery). The #1 advantage of the ZF2 or the P90 is that they both run 64bit processors, so they are ready for 64bit Android.
Is the Zenfone2 gonna work on Verizon Network?

Go for ASUS you wont regret it!
If the price is acceptable, this one definitely will be a hot item.Asus is very committed in costumer satisfaction.their is extremely fast in software upgrading. Asus strategies in marketing have fortunes both side.for example, after zenfone 5 Lte out with kitkat ,month later(l believed its take a month just because its had a different cpu vendor) all previous Zenfone series also received same upgrading and all leftover stock in market becomes high demanded until need to refill. Now zenfone 5 is conquer over 4 Asean country and the funny things is I,the early owner of zenfone 5 still use jb because its alredy bugless in last jb version(finally usb OTG support) .In my country, zenfone 5 is one of hot items and now I'm very proud to shows off my fone to my friends cause its so popular. Now zenfone its definitely on theirs list.Thank you Asus for my dignity
WHAT about GPL compliance of ASUS.... was there any word about device tree and source code???

Hello everyone
I intend to buy a new phone but with dual card. I wanted to buy Xiaomi MI Note, but the cost is huge so I gave up. I stumbled upon a phone AusuZenfon2. As I watched some clips on YT seems that his camera much good. In Xioamia Mi Note camera is even better than the iPhone 6 Plus. I hope and Zenfonu 2 will be good camera.
What interests me is:
1. How satisfied are you with you thus far zenfonom users in general?
2. Procesor which is located in the Zenfone2 (64-bit Intel Atom 3560/3580 Quad Core Processor (Running at 1.8 / 2.3GHz) PowerVR Series 6 - G6430, with OpenGL 3.0 support), so I interesujeu which rank this processor in compared to the Snapdragon family? 800, 801 or maybe 805?
3. Does really feature HDR blacklight gives such good pictures in low light or is just marketing trick?
4. Will it will be 4K recording and slowmotion 240fps in zenfonu 2?
5. Zenfone 2 will have two models, one of 2GB and the other 4GB Ram. Is the difference only in RAM or a even a change?
Advance very grateful
PS I see the comments someone goes dead motherboard. How is this happening? And if this is a common problem with this phone?
P.S2 .. I looked at photos Zenfon 5 :crying:and unfortunately photos are bad phone that I now have a Xioami Mi3 and captures a lot of good pictures. Will Zenfone 2 have a better camera than Zenfona 5?

Unfortunately not. Verizon works on CDMA network which is not supported by Zenfone 2 and is not supported by a lot of other phones. Verizon also uses LTE network and it is currently the broader LTE network in the USA. You can check the coverage here: http://www.verizonwireless.com/. The Verizon LTE network bands will be supported by some models of Zenfone 2. You could theoretically use Zenfone 2 on Verizon, but then you have to use voip instead of standard calling and depend fully on the LTE in general.

Nobody uses the Zenfone 2 because it's not on the market yet. I have Asus tablet based on (an older) Intel SoC and I'll try to answer to your questions on the base of that experience:
1. I'm really satisfied with the tablet. It is fast, stable and modest in energy consumption.
2. Intel 3580 is generally considered better SoC than any of Snapdragons you mentioned and has better Antutu Results. Besides only the newest of Snapdragons 805 (and 810) is 64-bit, but both are 28nm, so they are likely less energy efficiently than Intel Atom 3560/3580, which are 22nm thick.
3. It's not a market trick. You can get live tests of camera performance.
4. yes.
5. It's not known yet, but I assume that Asus plans to offer entry level model with Intel 3560, 2GB RAM and lower resolution and high end with Intel 3580, 4GB RAM and higher resolution. Starting price for the first model is supposed to be $199 and for the second one $299. Additional ROM will probably increase the price. And there are still modifications which are not sorted out yet regarding LTE antennas regarding selling territory and 5 inch model which is currently still a big mystery.
I am a casual gamer and battery life is pretty important for me. I was waiting for 5.1 update for ZF2 before buying ZE550ML. However I noticed that the ZE550KL (Laser) with Snapdragon 615 and 3GB RAM is almost the same price. Would this be a better buy for me? Anyone having used both the chipsets can give their experience.

The idol 3 runs that processor while have 2gb of ram and it has stutters and lag. And the idol 3 is basically stock android and not heavily skinned like the 550.
but since its using a snapdragon instead of the Intel like the other models. I don't know if there will be any root or custom roms for the laser model if that is something you can wait for then go for the cheapest one you can get.

Because you don't launch next generation of phones if you are going to update software on last generation. Especially when is case of mid-range phones. Mid range phones are made to 'be' one year, then new generation comes up with new software and so on.. One more thing, phones that aren't flagships and have mtk chipset - the one that got any software update are rare (you can say that isn't any out there)

But wouldn't you think that that Snapdragon editions would feature at least 7.0? I mean some of the components that make the 2017 K10 "new" aren't involving the software. It's mainly the hardware. A fingerprint sensor, better battery, and expanded ram are what would pull for an upgrade. I agree that the MTK variants are out of the question, but I feel like nougat isn't to far of a stretch for the Snapdragons

Yes, there are new hardware things, but not big deal only fingerprint sensor the rest is just better version so it handles nougat smooth. I don't think that they will give nougat for just a half or ¼ devices (I don't know how many % are snapdragon versions) that's logic you must agree.

Yes you can have nougat on k10 but only if you buy 2017 K10

Actually, I've been following up on the news for the 2017 K10. Its only been released in india as of now, and looking at some other phones which had a similar lifetime (being recreated with the same name), it's possible that companies like at&t may not sell this phone. And if that's the case, then the likelihood of a nougat update (from said companies) is great. Offering a low budget phone like the K10 that has the latest OS is a great way to improve sales. I also don't thinks it's a fair assumption to say that there's a 0.001% chance. At&T just updated the g5 this last week.

Yup this update N would be for MTK variants only. Why? because the LGk10 2017 is MTK variant only. Probably the Nougat which is built-in in 2017 will just ported to MTK 2016 variant like k430dsy

Don't see XDA dedicated forum for it.
They added IR Blaster, interesting. And a smidgen more screen size? and like 1.5K resolution (no LPTO screen). Charger 100W.
Yes, it's budget. Last year's Snapdragon (so no 5G band Aggregation), and stays at UFS 3.1, LPPDR 4 (so you won't see lower temps & 30% less power used like regular 11).
Fold coming later this year.
Hhmmm...
Xda forum for 11R will be small like the one for 10R.
10R 150w for a buget phone is Great ! i use it for more than 6 months.
On Giztop 11R is 499$ Usa for 12/256 Gb. With OxygenOS is you want.

X65 supports 5G aggregation. The X65 was the first modem I would have recommended for someone looking to keep a phone for awhile.
5G Spectrum: mmWave-sub6 aggregation, sub-6 carrier aggregation (FDD-TDD, FDD-FDD, TDD-TDD), FDD-TDD support for uplink-CA, Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS)

It is fully 3GPP Release 16 compatible as well which means that it can support any commercially-available 5G band (but may require a firmware update so I wouldn't bet on OnePlus adding bands beyond what their sales info states).
If you aren't gaming (there are massive advances in the 8 Gen 2 in this regard) and you are okay with the possibility of having to charge your phone each day (or more than once a day when using 5G heavily), it's definitely worth considering.
EDIT: Actually, it's using the 8 PLUS Gen 1... I have no qualms recommending a device using that chip to anyone who doesn't care about what the X70 modem adds (not much) or who doesn't want the absolute best performance and is willing to pay for it.

Actually there's the one:
OnePlus 11R (Ace 2)
The OnePlus 11R (Ace 2) is a 6.74" device, with a 120Hz 1240x2772 AMOLED display. It's powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which is paired with either 256/12GB, 256/16GB or 512/16GB of internal storage and RAM. It features a 50/8/2MP main camera setup, with a 16MP selfie camera. The...
