Well the only thing I can think of is by flashing a Jellybean version of Paranoid Android. Then use the Hybrid engine to change it to the Tablet ui to get the same thing you see in that picture. See this post. But for KitKat the Tablet ui was killed off and there is no way to activate it, hence no hybrid engine in the new KitKat PA. I don't believe there is any way to do this in KitKat right now, probably ever. Hope this helps.

Looking for the most stock rom available

I'm looking for the most basic stock 2.2 rom available. I mean really stock Android, no touchWiz or customizations. Removal of Sprint bloatware would be great of course. This is for a Samsung Epic currently running froyo right out of the box. This is for a totally blind user running a screen reader from the Google Eyes Free Project. All of the TouchWiz stuff and customizations make the screen reader perform poorly and it's especially bad with froyo 2.2 due to the TouchWiz stuff.
I'd be grateful if anyone can point me to a rom that would fit the bill. Hopefully, such a thing exists. Thanks for any responses.
Cyanogenmod 7 is the closest to AOSP you can get, but it does have some features not working (yet).
I know its not exactly what you are asking for but I have an idea that is pretty simple to do but you don't have t flash another rom.
I suggest launcher pro from the app market. To all you adw fans out there, I've tried that too but accidentally messed up things in the dock and it wasn't fun fixing them. Anyways, launcher pro could be used as your home replacement. I don't know your level of knowledge so I will explain it. Once it finishes downloading, hit the home key on the bottom four and select as default application then select launcher pro. Now hit menu then settings then general and there's a thing to hide apps you don't want showing in the drawer. Next go into appearance and select dock style for froyo or froyo wide. That is pretty much it. There are a few settings that can be tweaked to turn off the special effects and maximise the drawer's speed in regards to scrolling.
That is my suggestion because it is stable and not necessary to start flashing roms and converting the phone's default file system to ext4, which from my experience was opening a can of worms.
I havent used it, but I believe you're looking for this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=922773
It's not stock, it just is themed to look like it.
Texted while driving
Why not just root the phone and use root explorer and take out the touch wiz launcher in the stock rom from the system/app directory.
Here is a post here that shows you all the prgrams that you can safely remove:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773142&highlight=safe+apps+remove
Then if you want stock, you can't be more stock than this. Maybe this can help you get to what you want.
I appreciate the responses. Someone suggested simply replacing TW Launcher but that isn't really the issue. Apparently TouchWiz changes more than just the launcher. Some of the apps that don't seem to be really stock Android are messaging, contacts and calendar. TouchWiz also seems to do some other stuff under the hood that gets in the way. Perhaps rooting as someone else suggested and removing the problem apps and replacing them with the stock Android ones might do the trick. Surely there has to be a bare bones rom out there but maybe not for the epic.
I have heard great things about Cyanigen but unfortunately it isn't ready yet.
Syndicaterom Frozen is very barebones and quick. It is the cleanest stable rom.

2nd on srf.
Saying that you were looking for a stock rom is throwing everyone off (or at least me). Stock means you want it like it came factory from Sprint, with all the bloat and garbage attached.

Sorry, didn't mean to throw anyone off. By stock what I mean is Android stock, not Samsung stock. Plain vanilla like you might find on a Nexus 1. No bloatware, no customized UI like TouchWiz. Hope that clarifies it. Thanks.

The term for plain vanilla is AOSP, the ONLY AOSP Rom for the Epic is Cyanogenmod.

063_XOBX,
Thanks for the correct term. I see now what I'm looking for is Android Open Source Project (ASOP). It looks like CyanigenMod is the only way to go. I wish it was finished. The plan is to work on it this saturday so we may wind up trying Syndicate Mod Frozen to see how that goes and eventually flash CyanigenMod. I'm really anxious for Cyanigen to be completed. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

Wallpaper Scrolling with Stock Launcher?

I'd like to be able to scroll wallpapers when switching from screen to screen but, as most of you have noticed, this isn't available on the TouchWiz launcher (the launcher used on our SGS3s).
Has anyone found a way of getting around this like we used to be able to do in previous Android versions? I really like being able to see the full picture and scroll it rather than seeing it every screen from screen to screen.
If your rooted flash FreeGs3 rom. It give you the option choosing the wall paper scrolling.
Apple just give up the IPHONE sucks deal with it.

Does it change the launcher to that of a third-party or is it still TouchWiz? I'd kind of like to keep TouchWiz if possible. I have been looking for some new ROMs, so thank you for the heads up on that one.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a try immediately.
EDIT: There's one problem...where can I find a version and tutorial on how to install TWRP recovery for my device? I can only find links sending me to places that flash only for the Galaxy Nexus or other carriers and it says that they will only work with those models.

GS4 Android 4.3

So I just installed what I believe to be the GPe 4.3 for the S4 because the lag from TW was ridiculous. I'm pretty new to everything still the only other stock android i've run was on an old HP touchpad using CWM 9 I think.
Some things I miss and I'm not sure how to get back or if i can a couple more toggles on the status bar pulldown? or how to edit what's there.
also is there any way to make the status bar transparent on homescreen/lockscreen wallpapers just look so much better with clear.
I'm also looking for the battery percentage toggle.
is there a setting so when i long press home it opens up the multitasking window? all im getting is google now
and on the lockscreen when i go to unlcok it is there a way to add more options other than unlock.
I apologize if these questions have been asking a million times and there are answers everywhere I wasnt sure where to look.
If someone could answer these or post a link to a thread that does it'd be much appreciated
galaxys4root com/t-mobile-galaxy-s4-roms/google-play-edition-rom-for-galaxy-s4
This is where I download the ROM from and installed it using TWRP . I get a FC every time I try to use google wallet is there a fix for that?
This seems like I'm asking a lot so if anyone helps thank you I'm still new to all this. I feel like I know some basics so I'm not completely hopeless here.
Is there a root method for 4.3 yet? I have t mobiles m919 model
GPe isn't same as "CM" which is AOSP.... maybe if you went to CM10.2 nightlies... you'd be more use to most of those features you were seeing in CM9... CM10.2 nightlies do have most of those options you are also looking for...
and cm 10.2 is still 4.3 and will run on gs4?
and the thing is i've been on this rom for about 2 hours now and setting eveything up the way I like it because I thought it would be the one i was sticking with. Is there any way to put cm on it without losing app/accounts and the way everything is? or would I be starting over
probably be best to start fresh again and yes CM10.2 is android 4.3 and it works beautifully on the S4 for all variants.. http://get.cm/?device=jfltetmo is the one for the tmobile s4..
Well thats frustrating. I'll probably end up doing it later tonight anyways though. now when i update like a new version ofthe nightly build will make me start over too or will it keep everything the way it was?
and what's a good way to backup text messages while switching roms?
going from nightly to nightly you can just update no need for wiping.. as far as backing up texts and stuff i have no idea.. as i don't ever do any of that..
Alright thanks. I'll check out the nightlys later. but for now is there a way to bring up the multi tasking windows? like on TW you would just long press home. I've been trying to find a setting for it but cant

Backing up text messages would be

I use it all the time. Works like a charm.
Only downside is that it doesnt do MMS.
Why do people always make threads in the wrong places, this is the themes and apps sections what is so confusing about this.

Everything pretty easy to find
Also you could just use Titanium Backup to back all your apps up then restore them on CM10.2

How to align softkeys/navigation buttons to left?

Is this possible? I love to hold mine landscape but I swear I'm jacking up my left thumb everytime I reach for back and home.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
If you install paranoid android or PAC ROM which supports hybrid properties, you can enable tablet UI which combines the navbar and status bar in one. Navigation buttons on the left, status on the right.
Google images of paranoid android tablet UI to see what I mean.
Check out full!screen and PieControl...works on stock, just need to be rooted.
Ill give those a look.
Not particularly in the mood to play rom switching just yet on it. Id like stockrom with that. I saw a tutorial on it, but too much hassle of mixing files and breaking stock launcher.
Already rooted, no issues with that.
I really fail to see how having the buttons spaced out, center aligned has become the accepted norm.
I'm indifferent on status bar on top, consolidating is fine, not important.
But jeez, my left thumb is killing me from stretching over.
I really like Pie. I have it set on the left edge, non centred (so it appears directly below my thumb). Even less movement of your left thumb than you were asking for!
I use the one in the ROM, not the standalone app. Anyone tried both? The app seems much more customisable, but does it lag much because it's an app?

Many thanks. Ok, WTF am I smoking. I saw the Android Development thread and was all in there, tried an AOSP, etc.
I saw the original android dev thread but some reason associated it in my head as original Nexus 7.
Yea I believe I have Flo, that should be the 16gb wifi only.
No worries. Yeah flo is the wifi only one. I have the same model as you, and am running PAC. Word of warning, the last 'stable' RC is actually unstable. Go with a nightly.

I was reading that Paranoid Android was leaning to go away from the tabletui, so I would guess PAC would be similar.
Any big differences so far with PACs 4.3 vs Kitkat?
Since I just got it I put the rooted stock KitKat in first thing so I don't know what I'm already used to vs going "down" to 4.3
Do you have a link to this? The hybrid properties has quite a few settings, tablet UI mode, dpi settings etc. I'd like to know what they're talking about. I have the navbar hidden anyway.
I haven't tried 4.4 yet, so I can't give an opinion. But from what I've read, most of the UI changes are in the google experience launcher not kitkat.

Its as if they dont anticipate people holding the tablet in landscape with both hands and doing mostly thumbs.
Maybe it's because I'm a gamer from the NES/Nintendo days and treat it like a controller.
Are we really supposed to hold with one hand and stab away with our index?
Enable Pie. I just re-enabled the navbar for a little while to remember what it looked like. Even with the buttons aligned to the left, it felt so far away in comparison to Pie. If you're likening this to a game controller, it's like the buttons are right under your thumb.
I'm disappointed Google's removing tablet UI. It's not just the navbar, but a different layout to a number of apps such as Settings.

4.3 Upgrade - Smart Stay not working...

I have upgraded to 4.3 from Goodness Reborn 4.1.2 (Thanks, CNexus!). Smart Stay (the eyeball in the status bar thingie that keeps your screen on) was working fine under 4.1.2. After the upgrade, the eyeball is in the status bar, but Smart Stay is not working.
Is anyone else having this issue?

Thanks. This is the Stock Samsung ROM, knox removed, posted by Cnexus. It is a TW ROM. I did some more testing and it is actually working but they must have adjusted its sensitivity in the 4.3 version from the 4.1 because you have to now hold it closer for it to work. Also, the blinking of the eye is much fainter than before (maybe it was disconcerting to some people).
