New FW - Anyone else find laggy? - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So finally updated the fw but so far find it laggy and slow compared to the prior version. I like the ui improvement for Amazon content but the downside is occasional stutter and overall lagginess when it was so fast before.
Debating about downgrading.... is everyone experiencing the same?

I too found it lagging after the update, but I rebooted (hold down ok/select and play/pause buttons for 5 seconds) and it went back to the normal speed. In fact it feels a little quicker than before the update.

Same here at first was laggy but did the reboot and got snappier
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app

Maybe its like Windows update where an update-related process is slowing it down by taking up to 100% of the CPU usage until it finishes the task.
Can somebody with the faster update test CoolN64 to see how it runs now?
If you know how,add the no frameskip code from PJ64 Forums for Banjo-Tooie and config then use Rice to play it.
Normally,it goes fairly slow in large area views and really slow in HailFire Peaks when on the ledge in front of the oil drill.

[Q] Too Hot.

I got my nexus 7 a week ago. Everything is working awesome but I really worried about the hot issue on the back side under the top speakers. Whenever I surf web for not more than 5 minutes the back feels a minor hot, I only take 3 to 5 pics with camera then the back of my tablet feels more hot, when I do gaming(Riptide GP2) for not more than 10 minutes then at this point my tablet,s back become really hot after this I have to close the game and wait for the tab to cool down.
Please guide me what to do I am really very worried about this right now I am on Stock 4.3.
Can you try to do the same things with minimal screen brightness, and see if there is any change?
Too low.

Thanks for your reply I tried it to the brightness bar at very end but this is not solving my problem. It's not happen only with Riptide GP2 but with the others games too.

Mine gets a little hot too, but much better than S4 and iPad3, so I am actually happy with it.
I guess that's just the way it is, unless you can compare yours with another one and yours is hotter under the same situation.
My 2 cents, I believe it isn't about the screen problem with brightness. The heat should be coming from the running processor. So far never heard about overheating on new nexus 7 yet. I'll suggest send for replacement , worst come to worst.
Because something gets hot doesn't mean there is a problem.
Its physics.
And feel is irrelevant. You need the actual temperature to determine if there is a issue.
Small thin devices with a powerful SoC will get warm under load
i think, if its still touchable and not using to much battery you shouldn't worry.
also you could try turning off wlan/lte and it shouldn't get that warm.

mine gets hot too, but i installed elementaX kernel, Undervolting really helps keep it less hot
My tablet also was getting hot near the glass by the front camera when playing riptide 2 so I decided to root my tablet and the heat issue is now gone I'm running illusion ROM. also I noticed the heat issue was not there before the multi touch update.
The overheating isn't a universal problem. I haven't had any issues with heat in a fair bit of use.

P6 everyday use - experience

Hi!
I would like to kindly ask if anyone can give me some input on how this Huawei Ascen P6 is behaving in everyday use? I have an option to get it as my work phone and would really like to know if this is a stable phone, or does start to behave poorly as previous Huawei Honor started to, after some use.
I have an option to get Nokia 925, Glaxy S4 Mini, Xperia SP and Huawei P6.
Thanks for your opinions.
Best regards,
D

I have been using the ascend p6 for the past 2 3 months. I am using the stock emotion ui with very heavy modifications using xposed framework and also a custom launcher.
So far I am very impressed with its performance. Emotion ui is a very well made rom with really smooth and nice animations (i love eye candy ). I haven't noticed any lag on my phone yet. Battery life is not exceptional but not disappointing as well. I can go through the day with normal usage without having to recharge (My normal usage includes frequent phone calls, not much internet browsing but a lot of music playing). You can play all normal games quite well though games with extremely heavy graphic requirements might lag (I never play such games on a mobile). Sound quality is also pretty good and it comes with dolby digital enhancements. Using iphone earphones on the p6 gives amazing sound quality.
So far the only problem I have noticed is a slight heating up on the top part of the phone which i have heard may be resolved with the kitkat update.
When compared to the others, I would choose the huawei hands down. It has better specs, emui is an amazing rom and finally it is one damn beautiful phone.. exceptionally beautiful!!!
It's very good, and the B125 update is very smooth.
Takes a day or two to settle down, then, very easy use, a pleasure to hold, screen very silky.
Only thing is you have to play with your battery life a little... Every night charge!

Had the phone since August last year, with various stock roms and a few beta's, currently on B122, not upgrading again till the official KK one comes out. I liked it initially, but things are starting to annoy me now.
The back panel is very easily scratched/scuffed for one, not from dropping but just sitting on a desk, in empty pocket etc. I never have a cover on my phones but do stick on a screen protector mind you. Also the silver edging at the top is marked, again from being in an empty pocket, and just general use.
The little pin thats in the audio jack is a pain, had to hunt about for it countless times after wanting to plug my headphones in, now lost.
The audio sound is very very low, sometimes not even audible if surrounding noise is high. I have some beats in ear headphones that work perfectly with everything else, but not this.
the camera is garbage, takes too long to snap and the focus is terrible, on all varying settings. Been the same on every rom ive tested. At the moment with 2 young kids its pretty much joint top of my list of most important features.
Apart from the above the hardware seems to be fairly decent, I like the size and the feel of the phone, but just seems to be a bit lacking now.
Battery is ok, but feel its a constant fight to keep it lasting longer than a day. I like the profile settings software, so have it all turned off at night, which helps make it last longer, but if I use wifi or have the screen on watching videos etc it plummets rapidly.
Software is ok, few things they dont do as well as some others, but few they do.
Wife recently bought the moto g and if it wasn't for the fact its only 16gb with no expandable storage i'd be getting that (I have a lot of music on a sd card ). For the money its head and shoulders above this.
All in all its been a fairly decent phone, but one i'll look to be replacing soon. Probably for the same price or cheaper than I got his sim free.
I'm sure all of the above could be fixed by rooting, doing this, doing that, but to be honest I dont have time or patience to do all that, and shouldnt really have to.
Anyway, that's my thoughts, few some people might find it useful, sure some will be offended. hey ho.
Everyday use:
Phone(Talk/SMS):10/8
Media:
Make(Video record):10/5(Laggy,cheap sound quality ,cheap video quality)
Make(Photo):10/7
Music(After europian volume boost trick)10/7
Wathch(Video)10/10 not problem me.(Im try many video version(mov, mkv, etc)
Game:10/4 Very poor:first problem many, many game run laggyas hell..And many not supported.
Net:10/8.
Batttery:10/7(Heavy use 1.5 day)
EtcLike huawei services)10/8
From the choices you have, p6 is the best as an all rounder. The xperia sp might beat p6 over GPU, while Nokia 925 got LTE.
But you need to mention your phone usage habits and make sure your important needs fall within it. Everyone got different usage habits so their experiences cannot guarantee everything.
Phone calls & sms: 10/10 have not encountered any problems
Video recording: 7/10 Video has very washed out colours and there used to be glitches when Stabilizer was enabled on JB roms, on KitKat this problem seems to have been fixed. Sometimes unconsistant fps range, especially on JB roms, seems fixed on KK.
Photos: 8/10 The sony imx134 sensor is okay, altough it gets rather grainy at even ~400iso, the quality of the lens is also low. Auto wb works perfectly, focusing takes abit more time than other flagship devices. Most of these problems have to do with software & driver optimization.
Music: 5/10 Audio quality is not the greatest, the audio jack also has some problems with some plugs.
Watching video: 10/10 Obviously it cant play 4K (interestingly enough, the 4K plays at the same tempo as on the snapdragon 600 phones), but 1080p and 720p run absolutely fine, havent had any problems
Gaming: 4/10 Not good, phone tends give off alot of heat and causes throttling
Internet surfing: 10/10 on JB, 6/10 on KK The problem with browsing in KK is not really device specific, the Chrome engine it uses instead of webkit just is slow and laggy on every phone. Dolphin Browser uses a modified webkit engine(like on JB) which runs well on KK and it also has support for flash which is not supported in KK by Chrome.
Battery: 7/10 The battery varies alot, I remember having the phone on 20% of battery in the end of the day, nowadays I end the day with 60%, could be the KK rom but I am not sure about it. Or could also be because the weather here has gone warmer
Emotion UI: 1/10 Horrible, it runs like crap even on their own devices compared to AOSP ui, huge lack of dark themes. Just an unpleasant eyekiller in the dark because everything is lightgrey and lightblue. You would also expect to have 60fps animations for simple thing like for example pulling down the notification center and scrolling through the settings menu, even phones with quite abit weaker hardware, but better optimization, manage to keep this at 60fps!
Basically most of the issues have to do with the optimization of the GPU
It runs stable, but for a work phone the S4 Mini will most likely work better.
The camera quality in the right lighting is better than a Sony Z1 !!! I compared the exact same photos taken by my P6 and my friends Z1. I could not beleve it !
If youll mainly use p6 for work, its the perfect fit. Fast and stable. I use mine for daily emails, web browsing etc.. Well what really sealed the deal is its beauty. Would choose p6 over any other phone for its design alone.

[Q]Known problems of LG G3

I am thinking about buying a new G3, Is there any chronical issues-problems of LG G3?
Like dust in screen or speaker blow or any hardware malfunction
Don't be completly discouraged when reading this, as this is just my list of CONs for this phone.
Here's some of the issues i've had on my G3 from the very minute my phone left the box:
1. The phone has a locked bootloader, So don't expect any custom roms or kernels anytime soon.
2. This phone gets very hot for almost no explainable reason all the time doing small tasks like browsing the web.
3. WiFi (and maby LTE??) are REALLY slow in comparison to every other phone i've owned in recent years (sometimes web pages even freeze while loading).
4. The stock web browser kills my battery in about 2-3 hours from a full charge on 0% brightness because of LGs stock webbrowser sandbox security.
5. I get constant "connection timed out" errors while trying to stream many online videos using the stock web browser.
6. CPU doesn't hit max speed on this device without messing with thermal options.
7. The phone is very laggy & slow on my version (10b), I don't know how other versions are though.
8. The glass started falling out of my first G3 (around the edges) and i had to exchange for a new one because of this. (my new one did this too but only at the bottom and i just live with it)
9. VERY poor color & contrast when the screen brightness is turned way up (looks good at low brightness though).
10. My left headphone buzzes while the CPU is under load while no audio is playing, Once the CPU load stops or once a song or movie starts playing the buzzing stops (tested with 2 sets of headphones, both buzz but apparently some other users say there are headphones that don't do this).
11. + some other small things.
Probly the most complained about things are these:
1. lag
2. overheating
3. physical cracks develop usually around the ir blaster or mic
Im not having any lag issues, im on 10i though, my phone is yet to get hot too, not sure why this is, im very very happy with mine at this stage, only downside is the locked bootloader.
No issues here, the heat issue was fixed with software updates from what I have seen. I have no issues with heat on mine. The contrast can be fixed or made a little better in the accessibility menu. I've had 3 G3's and none of them had the screen fall out or develop a crack around the frame. (I think that was a limited issue)
I bought my first G3 back in early June and it was fine until I dropped it off my balcony. My Att G3 hasn't had any issues either. The signal issue listed above is more of s perception thing. My F460S (G3 Prime) only has 4 bars in its cell service instead of 5-6 that others have. So basically if I have 3 bars its like having 4-5 and my connection has always been fine. I think that some of the issues are exaggerated on this phone but that's just from what I have seen after owning a G3 since it launched more or less.
No lag, no heating.. Just two troubles.. 1.LG software.. Phone is so slow and heavy. 2. Locked bootloader..no LG software replacement.
If you want a g3 with an unlocked bootloader, buy it from T-Mobile. I have mine rooted recoveried, and have installed a very nice custom rom/kernel. This is by far my favorite Android yet.
As far as Amb669's list goes we haven't seen any of those problems. My wife and I have had our Verizon G3's for a couple of weeks now (not exactly a long time) with zero issues.
My WiFi speed in particular is Amazing.
Keep in mind two very important caveats:
My wife and I almost certainly use our G3's differently than Amb669 (and each other) - not better or worse just different.
It's possible that if we used our G3's in the same way as Amb669 does we might experience similar problems.
Our G3's were purchased recently - our phones may be from a later batch that has had issues corrected.
Our G3's firmware/software could also be different/improved.
I LOVE this phone and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others.
I have some problems with my G3 too, it's too slow... i prefer my Old Xperia ZQ, maybe it's a Software Problem ? and my G3 gets so hot too... damit i'm disappointed.. there are something that could do ?? i already resete it but still the same thing.

I have not encountered ANY of these issues, except for the heat issue.. But seriously it doesn't get that hot? Mine gets to about 55 degrees Celcius and that's max.. (I have the int. Version though)
On the other hand I do agree on the fact that the colours could be better on high brightness but hey, it's not a Samsung AMOLED display like the S5
For me the LG G3 is a stylish, fast, and amazing phone that offers everything I need :good:

Heat

Some phones are great to take camping because if you play Asphalt 8 long enough, the back warms up to the ideal temperature that can bake bread. Rate this thread to express the extent to which the LG G5 stays cool under extended heavy use. A higher rating indicates that even when playing strenuous games for long periods of time, the phone doesn't get uncomfortably warm.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
i think the G5 heats a little bit too much
today i was simply downloading Hearthstone (800MB approx) and in standby it heated too much
i think its quite excellent actually.
i could not notice any throttling during gaming etc. well maybe thats just because even the gpu is idling at <15% during asphalt 8 play
I had zero issues with thus device heating up until last night... I was at the movies with the fam.. In the theater I only had 1x for data and the phone got hot while searching for a better data connection. Cooled right down after leaving the theater.
Coming from an htc m7, so a huge step anyway... Phone is top!
This was one of the first things I noticed because I used the gps probably 45 mins after taking it out of the box. I watch YouTube vids for around an hour a day and after a while it does become noticeable but I have to be honest; it really doesn't bother me all that much.
Can feel warm and a little uncomfortable in warmer weathers (20-30 Celsius).
Mine heats up a lot. I'm a little concerned honestly.

I don't experience anything unusual.
heres the deal boys...
Yes this phone gets hot when its used hard.....if your not incurring reboots while running it hard , then you'll probably be good
After a month buying this , I started getting reboots ....hot and cold
The first time I sent it in , they said to leave sim and battery at home...
I got it back and started the usual 30 or more updates from App Store and phone got real hot and started rebooting again every minute
even when it was cool...it rebooted but at a longer interval...
They told me to send battery in too on second go around...
Just got it back , it had a system update to do and then the 30+ app updates....this phone was getting a workout...
I did the App updates right after the system update with the optimization ....
I'm 20 apps into it...the battery cooled down and the apps are still going...
looks like they have a battery issue with these phones. If I don't report back , then all is good...

No, it doesn't mean that LG has an issue with the batteries. It only means that YOU had issue with YOUR battery.
I'm glad your phone is OK and it was just the battery.
Only got mine yesterday, but I've used it a lot in that short time and it get nowhere near as hot my previous 2 phone a Nexus 4 and G3 it gets warm but not what I would call hot compared to them 2 anyway, at its worst mostly watching videos it can get a quite warm, but gaming it barely gets warm, I'm loving it so far but time will tell I guess but so far so good.
Mine heats up too, specially while using Snapchat or YouTube. Haven't played Asphalt or other graphic-intensive games, so I can't comment whether my device has the same issue with them or not.
Mine stays quite cool during heavy usage, it does get realy hot while charging though. I expect this is the same with others?
Coming from the Samsung Galaxy Note series (Note 1 - Note 5), the LG G5 gets pretty hot even when idling.... My solution? Waiting for the Note 7 to be released and then goodbye LG!

Better than the V10. My old V10 overheated while I was using Skype to the point it shut itself off. Had no problems with the G5.
