LG G3 T-mobile pre-order is up!!! - T-Mobile LG G3

Here we go, people!
http://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phones/lg-g3.html

Hmm... Looking at the specs, it looks like we get a 2/32gb version. :/

Was the G2 boot loader unlocked? I'm just curious if the G3 will be the same or not. I'm considering dumping my Note 3 for this.

No such thing, it's a typo. There's only 3/32 and 2/16.

Just placed my preorder. On the order confirmation page it said the estimated delivery date is 7/1, but I don't think that's likely. Good to see some progress though!

Do pre orders only work online or could you do it through a Tmobile store as well?

Maybe, but not necessarily. Unless this is the T-Mobile only version?

T-Mobile was getting an exclusive version weren't they? Will be stupid if the botched the ram though.

There was a T-Mobile exclusive mentioned early on, I figured it might be the free G3 giveaway that they've been doing, no other carrier has been offering that.

Sprints website says they're giving some away too.

The exclusive was expected to be the 32gb model. At least temporarily.

$598 does seem like it would be the 2gb version
If it was the 3gb i was thinking it would be more in the $650 range.

I just hope T-Mobile doesn't do to the LG G3 what they did to the Sony Xperia Z1. They made a custom T-Mobile model, the Sony Xperia Z1S that has a permanently locked bootloader and has resisted all efforts to root it.
I like the G3 as it has two things I absolutely want - an excellent camera and a removable battery. But I won't buy a phone I can't root.

Sprint did a giveaway too. The 2/32 is a typo, not an "exclusive" version. What type of sense would that make for LG to make 3 or 4 different variants with only memory/storage changes?

One thing I find interesting is it says this phone is not eligible for the monthly payment plan, and you have to pay the 600 bucks up front.

That blows, maybe it's only a pre order thing? It would be silly that every phone is practically available for a monthly payment plan with the exception of the G3.

At least one TM rep confirmed the spec. I wouldn't dismiss it... Just home other carriers get it if it is going to be out there.

This is weird. If you search for 'T-Mobile LG G3 3gb ram' the search results for T-Mobile's own page shows 3/32 in the short description.

Confirmed that it IS the 3gb ram model and it was a typo.
Des @askdes @Cares_news Thanks for the catch! It is 3 GB of RAM - we're updating now!

[Q] Where to buy T-Mobile Galaxy S4 without plan

Hi,
I want to buy the T-Mobile S4 unlocked, but I just need the device, not the plan (cause it's an additional $50)
The only place I know is shopnbc.com but it just got sold out there.
Any other places/sites ?
The phones I bought that way. G2 & Hercules. Were purchased on e-bay.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
You could always buy it off-contract from a T-Mobile store and unlock it yourself. I don't know how the price would compare to online vendors or anything, but it's definitely worth considering.
I don't really trust ebay. I'll keep it as a last resort.
I checked Negri electronics. They do have it in stock but it's listed as
"This device is intended for INTERNATIONAL USE only"
They said that it's IMEI blocked from being used in the US due to recent unlocking laws.
But that's not how I understand the law is.... nobody said anything about not being able to use devices which are already unlocked , fully bought and paid for.
Any thoughts?

Yeah, that's an option, just trying to save $50, that's the first month service charge. I don't really need the T-Mobile service at all.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is that you don't have to get service with T-Mobile to buy the S4 from them. Tell them you want to buy it outright and off-contract. Pay full price and walk out device in hand, without any sort of service.

Oh believe me, I know. I just mentioned it because I'm not exactly sure the price difference between an online vendor and in-store; but it is definitely possible to get it there.
If you're looking to buy unlocked, buy from anyone reputable, reputable being a real business. But if you're going to go on eBay, Craigslist, or anything dealing with the average joe, do note that you could be buying a device that has the potential to be blacklisted. When on eBay, look at their feedback and determine how many phones they're selling. If it's just a few, I would be weary as to how they're getting their stock.
Whatever vendor said an international phone can't be used in the USA and is blacklisted due to it being unlocked is full of nonsense and should be avoided like the plague, sketchy stuff.

Checked Amazon, still no reputable seller and 0 reviews
If you're not morally opposed to supporting Wal-Mart, most of them sell the S4 for Family Mobile (T-Mobile) for $629. I think it's even available on their website under "prepaid devices".
Edit: It's not unlocked, obviously, but the unlock process is posted in this forum.

That's an i9500 . the T-Mobile one is m919. Thanks though
If you buy it from a T-Mobile store, they are supposed to be able to unlock it for you there. They gave me the run-around though; said they couldn't do it in store unless I was a customer while customer service said it had to be done in-store because I wasn't a customer. Plus, as was mentioned in some other thread (or perhaps earlier in this one, I don't remember) you may pay a few dollars more in-store, but if something happens within the warranty period you just take back in-store instead of shipping it off somewhere.

I know... there are inconsistencies in what they're telling people though. I was told by CS that I had to wait 30-40 days to get the unlock code by phone, go through Samsung and get it whenever they get around to it, or go in store and get it whenever I wanted. I was just pointing out the fact that it almost appears that, at the time at least, they didn't know what exactly was going on as CS tells me one thing and the reps in the store said to go through customer service. I ended up not even worrying about TMO and waiting and just did the unlock method here. MUCH less hassle

[Q] Good time to buy? Which version?

Hey everyone!
I have been considering the S3 for sometime and have looked into different sellers and wanted to know your opinions.
I'd prefer to buy the S3 and use it with my tmobile prepaid plan. After looking, I've found the following,
The international version is available on amazon for ~$430 ,blue or white
EDIT: A lot of people on amazon say that Samsung warranty doesn't cover the international version in the US? is it true?
US version is available for $550 at T-Mobile.
My question is, is now a good time to buy the S3 considering its price? or is their an alternative that is better performance for the price?
I've had the Nexus 4 before but I didn't like the camera and battery life. Also, if anyone knows a better store to buy from it would be great.
My final question; is there a grey color of the international version? or is it only the US?
Thanks!
If you can afford a high end phone, buy the Google Edition of the HTC One or the Google Edition of the S4. Or wait for their new Motorola one.
That's what I'm doing next time I upgrade.
Hi, Thanks for the reply!
The issue is I am in desperate need for a cellphone, I am using a very old phone now. Also I don't want go for a high end phone as I will not need the features it has! My budget is ~$450. Main use would be camera, music, gps, note-taking. My main concern though is battery life (which is why I didn't like the N4)

If you aren't going to use the power of a high end phone (maybe you will in the future), maybe get something like an S2. $550 is way too much for this phone. It's way too much when it's brand new. It's over a year old now. No thanks.
Or you could try Swappa. http://swappa.com/buy//samsung-galaxy-s-iii-tmobile
Never used the service before.
I'm really close to using swappa for the first time but hesitant cause I like to have the option to take the phone back if need be to T-Mobile for replacement on site. I say go for swappa if you ask the right questions to the seller of IMEI still good, and proof of phone not being in contract (paid in full, or paid up). I might put my s3 on there soon enough if it comes to that.

But would you recommend the US or the International version? I'm leaning towards the US version because of the RAM and because the grey color is available with T-mobile!
There are some sellers on ebay that have it cheaper than Tmobile but I've never used ebay before and can't find an alternative to buy from.
Can anyone recommend a store from which I can buy it?

Thanks for the info, I did a comparison on gsmarena.com http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4238&idPhone2=4804
From what I see both phones are running on the same bands. Can somebody confirm? I might be looking in the wrong area.
EDIT: Looked it up and it seems that it depends on the area. Some areas only have the 1700 band for T-Mobile, which isn't supported by the international version.
Definitely get the T-Mobile version if you plan to stay with T-Mobile. $550 is too much for this phone as of now. I would recommend as the previous poster of a galaxy s2 which you can get brand new for $250. You can also try to buy a use s3 but be aware that T-Mobile phones can get blacklisted easily.

Thanks for informing me about the blacklisting issue. I am thinking of buying it new from ebay but I can't find the right seller. even Swappa only has 3-4 phones and also I don't wanna buy it used.
Either buy locally and meet the seller at a tmobile store to have it checked out, or buy on ebay from a reputable seller. Otherwise T-Mobile is probably your best bet. Ive never used swappa, so I can't attest to that either way.

International over US variant any day!
just go look at the booming development going on over there in the International i9300 forums...they already got a 4.2.2 leak, and plus, international variants always get the OTA Updates and dev support first. honestly the RAM doesn't matter, and the International i9300 has a Quad Core CPU over the US variants' Dual Core.
plus, on Amazon as you said, the International version is cheaper too, so why not.
oh and about HSPA 4G speeds: T-Mobile is slowly rolling out 2100 bands, which IS supported by the international i9300 Galaxy S III, so in certain areas of the US now, you WILL get 4G HSPA speeds.

Recommendation: Disable Diagnostic Report Collection by T-Mobile

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900T) comes with software diagnostics package. This system process periodically scans the device for several information and sends the data to T-Mobile servers:
1) Updated/Uninstalled Apps from last scan.
2) App data compilation information.
3) Signal information.
4) Number of successful calls/texts/data services.
5) Number of times the processor was running in full capacity.
Disable this by going to settings-->Accounts-->Backup/Factory Reset-->Collect Diagnostics--> Uncheck the box.
You may leave the checkmark in tact if you would still like to send your device data to T-Mobile. I recommend disabling it because there are no benefits of sending data to T-Mobile. You will not receive faster updates, get new features and/or receive better signal by sending the data.
I think the first thing I did after unboxing the phone (and rooting, of course) was deleting every single bit of T-Mobile crap.

Pixel Phone on Verizon

So with the Pixel phone being sold through Verizon here in the US, do you think this phone will be fully unlocked if bought from them?
Wow, that is expensive... and sold out...
Didn't get one, but want the 128 GB (though I wish they offered a 64GB).
Add the protection plan for another $100, sitting at close to $1000!

Being it's Verizon I would say very likely but I am sure it will get cracked at least until new updates remember this is Verizon your talking about they love to be in control of things that they have no right to be. Easy fix don't buy from Verizon buy from Google or if you can buy from HTC as they will treat you better in the long run like the $100 in free accessories they gave the HTC 10 buyers after we got an extra free USB-C charge cable months before and maybe uh oh protection might be included too but that is hoping lol.
Is there any downsides from purchasing from google vs Verizon? Will we get access to the same LTE bands, etc.?
In the past, have google versions of phones have come with unlocked bootloaders but verizon come with locked versions of the same devices?

Given the way the past Nexus devices (that included support for Verizon and were eventually sold through them) the answer is no. They use the exact same hardware presumably. But until we start seeing model numbers confirmed it could be a possibility. But the unlocked version will support Verizon and it will have Google as your main access for support (which has been good to some people in the past).

The only reason I'd consider buying it straight from Verizon is because it would be added onto my bill in which my job would end up paying for my phone. If I buy it from the PlayStore i'd have to buy it on my own.

All I see on their web site is the payment plan and the option to pay full retail price and I looked all over Verizon's web site and I cannot see the contract option for either pixel phone. Can you provide a link to where you found it please, thanks.
That bootloader lock kills the deal
.. guess my nexus 6 lives on

My coworker told me about the 2 year promo...I didn't actually see it myself. He is currently at the end if a 2 year promo so maybe that has something to do with it??
Oh that's it. Anyone on a contract can keep getting new contracts like that. But new customers cannot get a contract from Verizon directly. You can still get service through Verizon with a new contract and subsidised phone you just have to purchase the Verizon service through dealers like best buy and target I know they both list new Verizon service with a contract where you get the phone subsidised instead of a payment plan or paying full retail price for the phone.

Someone will probably figure out a way to unlock it. You could just wait it out and you might get a better deal waiting also.
Android police has already confirmed the verizon bootloader will be locked.

Yeah, but it took well over a year to unlock the verizon S5 (at least. I hadn't looked for another year, so it might have been over 2). It'll be cracked Eventually but how long will it take
I'm not too worried about the bootloader being locked as I've stopped rooting my phones and flashing ROMS but I just need to know if the Verizon model has all the bands to work properly on t-mobile. I have 2 sims and need to confirm this.
Bootloader is definitely locked. Saw this question/answer on the VZW Page this morning for the Pixel XL.
I just preordered the pixel xl from best buy and extended my contract with Verizon. Does anybody know if the version they carry is the same as Verizon's or the unlocked version in the play store?

LG V35 going to AT&T

https://newsnexa.com/tech/lg-v35-thinq-att-usa/
Kind of disappointing, if TMobile got this I'd jump in a heartbeat. The same looking phone with upgraded processor, ram, front and back cameras? Absolutely

As long as they didn't add a notch, and it came to t-mobile, I'd jump on this too. I love my V30+.

This actually scares me. How is LG going to screw up the LG V40? Add a notch?
This V35 already has the Snapdragon 845, more RAM, improved cameras, etc. It's what the V40 SHOULD be. So, LG is going to have to do something drastic for the V40 -- like add a stupid notch.

Yeah I wish TMobile had been the one to pass on the G7 and pick this up. V30 looks with the updated internals, absolutely.

But yeah I'm with you, not looking good for the V40. They'll streatch the screen even more for that silly notch. I'm surprised the G7 didn't get stereo speakers though. I'd figure they'd follow suit like Samsung did
you guys,
do you know a method to buy V35 on AT&T Store without subscribe a plan ? I want tell: to buy device free of contract and plans, and sure unlocked for all other operators. I can only buy it online and not in phisical store
At the moment if you try to buy device paid in full on their store, you can't because final step request you choose a Plan .

AT&T wants customers, they don't want to be place that you buy hardware.
You're going to have to wait for to show up on eBay or swappa.

Agreed.
With
* the stupid 2016 LG G5 mods,
* the idiotic "regionalized" specs of the 2017 G6 (where you could not get a G6 with Qi wireless charging, more than 32GB storage and quad DAC), and now
* this detestable2018 G7 notch,
LG has shown contempt for the G series For several years now.
Just like the V30 is what the G6 should have been, this V35 is what the G7 should have been.

Get an AT&T customer to buy it off contract. Wait a month then have them unlock it (has to be a month wait even bought outright, but then you can use it on T-mobile) Or just by the one off project fi and don't activate the fi card...Fi will never charge you for the service and you keep the phone since you paid for it. it will likely be unlocked and can use T-mobile since Fi uses T-mobile and sprint in their network.

about 2years ago, I bought AT&T device without contract and got unlock code immediately.
My wife is on Cricket wireless(prepaid) and wanted pink gold color Galaxy S7 Edge.
I found one on Best Buy but it was AT&T variant. I just paid full (about $700), and request carrier unlock since I paid in full.
I got unlock code about couple of days later.
She is still using the phone now, she loves it.
I think you can purchase V35 in same way, but I am not sure how the LTE bands or CDMA support on AT&T V35.
What I want you know is whether the V35 is using the same exact screen or if LG fixed the issues that the v30 has
V35
Honestly, as good as the V35 sounds, the V40 will most liklely have my money, hoping and praying that LG learns from the release of the V30 last year and add more RAM and internal storage along with stable OLED panels and no frigging notch!!!!!!!!!!
Edit

Just make sure you understand if you buy the AT&T-branded model, you won't get updates if you are not an AT&T customer. There's also other V35 out there that is not for AT&T.
Also there are some KDZ available. Not sure what the difference is.

Thinking of picking up the V35. On T-mobile. What issues can I expect since I'm not ATT?

This is an old thread, before V35 was released other places -- like Google Fi.
Depends on if you buy from AT&T or buy carrier unlocked elsewhere. If you buy carrier unlocked, no issues on T-Mobile.
Also we can't give much advice and support because the v35 is not a v30. It's a totally different phone... V35 (JUDYP) is basically a G7 (JUDYN) that looks like a v30 (JOAN).
